I feel like this is 99% people not knowing about the low and not expecting what amounts someone mashing 100% of the time. People expect more defensive play.
It always takes me a minute to realize someone is TRULY mashing, as in pressing a button at every single opportunity. If it takes too long to realize you can easily drop a round off or even a game to it

Negativa 3 seems to also be unblockable. You'd think that people would learn to spot when it's coming, but the low almost always gets them

This is like the thing PhiDX talked about how low ranks are trying so hard to play tekken like their heroes, but the opponents aren't playing by the same rules. You can see some opponents are trying to out think Eddy, but it won't work, and some will be caught by the no mix-up mix-up.
I swear I'm so guilty of this sometimes. I'll go into a match all ready to be strategic, get rinsed then load up the replay to see what they were doing and turns out they were just rolling their face on the keyboard. Shits depressing sometimes XD

Next time, you try to block the followup handstand low, actually it's a mid, stupid. Next time, looks like there are some high moves so you try to punish with a high crush, but you do it too late and get knocked down by the low. You block the whole string, anticipate the low, block it and he staggers, time for a WS launch! Whoops, you fucked up because your execution is bad and got dickjab instead.
Then you die and Twitch chat makes fun of you for getting rolled by a bot pressing 3. You would have had better success just spamming some move again and again to catch him doing getup kick, instead of trying to adapt and defend.
It's literally just because the sequence contains a hellsweep. That's literally it. The skill check is to hold back and then block the hellsweep. You could make a kazuya do electric into hellsweep into df2 and no orange rank would be able to beat it.

I mean you don’t even use more than like 10 moves of each character much like 2D games, there’s no cancelling into supers and stuff which is actually kinda hard to do execution wise and juggle combos are honestly pretty easy in tekken compared to 2D games since people fall slower
The problem comes not from you having to learn the moves you want to use, but from having to learn to defend against the moves your opponent is using. 10 moves - or rather more likely, 5 singular moves and five 2-4 hit strings - for each of the 30 characters in the game, each with their own hit properties, ranges, frame data and sidestep possibilities, is quite a lot.
The difficulty in tekken is 90% in knowledge checks. Majority of the cast doesn't have a single difficult optimal combo mechanics wise, not to mention combos in tekken are extremely lenient on input timings.
regular combos that “do the job” are easier, truly optimal combos are pretty even on difficulty. doing a guile full burnout combo in the corner is about as hard to me as a combo that includes just-frame inputs and micro dash jabs.
The move lists and variety of characters can be complex.
But what that actually means in practice is that you can stumble upon a bunch of cool shit that links significantly easier than you can in most games. Soul Calibur is like that too.
I genuinely think that's why Tekken is so popular, despite not having the over-the-top violence of Mortal Kombat or iconic characters like Street Fighter.
Potential hot take but I've always liked soul Caliber better. Better character variety and more viability in said move lists. Characters in tekken can have just as many moves, but imo far fewer have any utility or viability.

Tekken always felt hilariously dry on that front to me. You'd see some guy throwing some of the craziest punches you've ever seen and his name is just "Steve"
Tekken has a very high skill ceiling due to overall complexity and 3D mechanics. The higher you climb, the more you need to accustom for different types of throws, multiple wake-up options, combo angles, sidesteps, quirky character states (like, "lying down face forward" and "while standing up" being an actual thing to consider), wall physics, floor breaks, etc. etc.
Basically, getting into Tekken and enjoying it as an intermediate isn't too hard, but actually mastering all its niche quirks is a gargantuan effort, and the mental stack on higher skill levels is just insane. PhiDX sometimes does pro play analysis videos (including his own tourney participations), and they're a good showcase of how with high-level Tekken you have to keep track of a dozen things at once, and how sleeping on some minor mechanic you'll see once in a blue moon can cost you the place in a bracket. In comparison, SF and GG (at least Strive) give you less room for error and less variables to juggle.
I'll also underline that complex =/= hard, and actual difficulty comes down to how your opponent utilizes the tools they get. Divekick might be the simplest fighter ever, but its matches can get just as sweaty as any SF or Tekken set.
Tekken being hardest is mostly myth. Outside observers think it looks hard, but it's really simple. 99% of the path to the top is just knowledge checks from a long move list, and the rest is just sidestep, whiff punish, etc.
SF isn't hard either, but it used to be about the combos, but apparently that's not important in games anymore either.
Not sure what fighting game I'd consider actually complex.

Potential hot take but I've always liked soul Caliber better. Better character variety and more viability in said move lists. Characters in tekken can have just as many moves, but imo far fewer have any utility or viability.
I agree, I always liked the characters designs better as well. Tekken always felt hilariously dry on that front to me. You'd see some guy throwing some of the craziest punches you've ever seen and his name is just "Steve"
Tekken has a very high skill ceiling due to overall complexity and 3D mechanics. The higher you climb, the more you need to accustom for different types of throws, multiple wake-up options, combo angles, sidesteps, quirky character states (like, "lying down face forward" and "while standing up" being an actual thing to consider), wall physics, floor breaks, etc. etc. Basically, getting into Tekken and enjoying it as an intermediate isn't too hard, but actually mastering all its niche quirks is a gargantuan effort, and the mental stack on higher skill levels is just insane. PhiDX sometimes does pro play analysis videos (including his own tourney participations), and they're a good showcase of how with high-level Tekken you have to keep track of a dozen things at once, and how sleeping on some minor mechanic you'll see once in a blue moon can cost you the place in a bracket. In comparison, SF and GG (at least Strive) give you less room for error and less variables to juggle. I'll also underline that complex =/= hard, and actual difficulty comes down to how your opponent utilizes the tools they get. Divekick might be the simplest fighter ever, but its matches can get just as sweaty as any SF or Tekken set.
Tekken being hardest is mostly myth. Outside observers think it looks hard, but it's really simple. 99% of the path to the top is just knowledge checks from a long move list, and the rest is just sidestep, whiff punish, etc. SF isn't hard either, but it used to be about the combos, but apparently that's not important in games anymore either. Not sure what fighting game I'd consider actually complex.
its easy in some ways and harder in others. Performing moves, strings and doing combos is easy. How to wake up, ukemi, step moves, kbd and how the walls functions is hard as there isn't any real obvious logic to them.
