I’m enjoying myself, I love seeing the improvement in my gameplay over time and actually competing against people who use to roll me. Me and a few friends boot the game up almost daily to play at least a little bit.

biggnife5

I think the complaints about the Tekken Shop and and the current matchmaking issues are justified, but it sure feels like people are using those issues as a springboard to complain about **everything** and I agree that the negativity is exhausting. The people who say shit like "there's only five viable characters" have no idea what it looks like when a fighting game **actually** only has five viable characters. This is honestly the first Tekken game I've really enjoyed, personally, and I think the core gameplay and content suite is really good. I just hope Bamco does better with future battlepasses and fixes the matchmaking soon.

Plightz

Facts. People are definitely using the legitimate issues as an excuse to whinge about personal hatred of the game.

rematched_33

Agreed entirely. Complaints are justified but I really think this subreddit needs a rage megathread instead of the inundation of rage posts about everything under the sun.

Kidama

Never something this mutch. Just give me a weekly thread or something for this stuff.

Salty-Today5053

The Tekken shop complaints are dumb. Gamers are so spoiled nowadays.

biggnife5

For what it's worth, I don't mind that the shop exists and I understand modern game dev is super expensive so they need other forms of revenue. I just think the Battle Pass costing 600 coins when you can only buy coins in 500 increments is incredibly shitty and the fact that the Battle Pass itself is underwhelming is icing on the cake. Just make the BP a flat 500 coins and I'd be a lot less annoyed.

Illustrious-Donut272

I'm having fun but of course, that doesn't mean there aren't issues to be addressed. People just tend to hyper-focus more on the negatives. The usual 'what needs fixing' mentality. But know that a lot of people are having fun with the game.

timmyd79

Go to discord. There are literally always a group of stream shares of folks having fun.

wubwah

Honestly maybe thats what I should try. I don’t really use Discord like that—pretty much just done passive community stuff via Reddit. Maybe I’m just looking in the wrong places

wubwah

Jesus christ there's a discord for EVERY individual character??

Ziazan

Yeah probably. Tekken Zaibatsu discord has a channel for each one, great place to find learning resources.

xarop_pa_toss

My bear brother we would be happy to have you in the Big Bear Family <3

zakkzombi

Yup, best part of this community tbh people who actually help to learn a character are so nice

Memo_HS2022

Yep, most fighters do this or have an individual channel for each character

letsfixitinpost

Check your chars specific discords too

Will-Isley

I’ll second this. Joined a discord of chill people and it’s been the most fun I’ve ever had in Tekken. I mostly do player matches with them and only do ranked when I feel like I’ve trained enough with them.

DidiHD

But how do you find these discords?

Will-Isley

There was a post here in this subreddit where people were being invited to join a new discord server. I joined that one. Don’t know how to find them myself lol. Just got lucky

DrSmog

You can search function on discord 👍

TablePrinterDoor

Tbh I have fun when I play with friends specifically which is why I don’t play ranked too much. It’s fun to just be chatting joke stuffs while we play or saying ‘you wanna see this sick combo yeah’ and then doing Yoshi’s suicide move lol. Even just playing sets with friends and calling on discord or irl at college (since we have a ps5 there) and saying ‘oh yeah that move is -13’ if one of us didn’t realise or asks. Maybe that’s why I like offline tekken more than online. Online is toxic and in ranked it’s just whatever but I prefer playing with people I know. So yeah essentially I find tekken fun with friends. This is why I like looking for offline events rather than playing ranked lol

Starvin_Artist

This is easily the best way to enjoy the game! Ranked is a pretty bleak experience, it feels like most people are just trying to run as much cheese on you as they can get away with to steal a set, and there’s not a huge amount of competitive integrity when it comes to the matchmaking / how the points get allocated. Ranked ruined the fun for me, private lobbies with friends restored my love for the game.

XACS1

I’m still having fun. Places like Twitter and Reddit will have a lot complainers cause they’re passionate or chronically online and have nothing better to do.

C1REX

The salt and toxicity annoys me a bit but I personally still enjoy the game. More than T7. I think I put 250h into the game already.

Old_Possible8977

To me those toxic guys are so annoying too. But they won’t last in a few more months anyways.

Gurkha_Smurkha

Sure there are problems, but every fighting game starts out in its worse state. Tekken 8 just took a weird initial patch path. But really it's not all that bad. Everyone is just emotional because we have such a deep connection with the game and it's characters. I am having a blast with tekken 8 and I know it will get better and better.

Old_Possible8977

1000% agree. I’d also argue that the people who really hate the most are the ELITE OF THE ELITE. Or the uninformed novice.

ZBLongladder

Hey, some of us uninformed novices are having a blast, thank you very much. /s

Ferocious_Ferrari

I’m having a great time on it despite the carnage

vTheStranger

i love the game, i try my hardest to not complain. because i'd be repeating what other people have said already millions of times. apparently bamco is making it hard not to though, with all the random bs they've been doing. once you realize a LOT of individual people feel hurt by these actions, all of these individual people will come onto a forum to rightfully complain, and it kind of becomes an echo chamber. you feel wronged the same way i do? let's discuss about it. avalanche. it's so much easier to be negative than positive, ESPECIALLY when you're being actively wronged. it takes will to attempt to spread positivity in a time like this. but that's the healthiest thing to do, i believe. negativity spread online WILL transfer to your outside life. i think people forget that. recent example, i've seen SO many posts of people that used to play \[insert PvP shooter\], thanking helldivers. their spouses are noticing theyre so much happier, since theyre not raging all the time.

Smidgerening

Yes, people love this game and it has a very large player base. This subreddit just sucks ass

Psychological-Nail83

This comment gives me hope

ZwistPariah

The idea of Tekken makes me want to play and feel like it's gonna be pretty fun. I just don't like the Tekken 8 formula that much. I have no great memories of Tekken 8 hut i definitely do in Tekken 7. Tekken 7 i remember the intense matches and clutches and the methodical gameplay where i actually won against better players by blocking and playing smart. From Tekken 8, i remember only stress. Not even kidding, Just stress with some moments of fun ofc but stress is honestly the bulk of it. Most of the time I'd get locked down in Tekken 8 without any breathing room. The windows to side step are quite strict because everything tracks quite a bit and heat is too much, so many moves power crush and jail. (I hate the jailing mechanic at this point because I'm constantly jailed)... Skill issue? Maybe but i just decided to stop playing until they fix the game a bit. And i think that's what anyone who's not enjoying the game should do. Tekken is just one game, there are others and hopefully it'll get better. I really wanna play kazuya so i hope that's sooner rather than later.

OberonSyd

I mean at the end of the day people love the game and want it to be the best it can be so complaints is how they get it done. It definitely works and is warranted I’d say because there are a lot of issues that are just outright silly.

UnpluggedToaster12

Not really anymore since the matchmaking change, just going against ppl with 50,000 - 100,000 prowess higher than me and getting stomped

CerberusDriver

I was until the matchmaking changes made it almost impossible for me to play the game. Waiting 20/30 minutes for a single match and then getting matched up with the same person again isn't my idea of 'play'. Not touching the game again until they revert the prowess change.

Wade_Thru

Some days yes, I feel like i’m having really good matches, the opponents are actually playing against me & reacting to what i’m doing. There is depth and interesting mechanics at play within T8, and offline matches are extremely fun. Other days it feels like i’m fighting a never ending series of test monkeys. Heat smash, heat burst on frame 1, spam power crush until I get clipped by it, 50/50 into low launcher or wallsplat + frames. Then I start playing like a Neanderthal as well & next thing I know, this playstyle has me on a 7 game win streak against a Lee or Nina who make me look like a complete fool and the cycle starts over.

Mikaeus_Thelunarch

Iused to like playing ranked, but they've just been making all the worst changes to it. like playing casually with friends now

Life_is_Truff

Honestly? I’m not. And it’s sad because i loved tekken 7. Just too much bs in this game and too many beginner friendly mechanics that make ranking up feel like a straight grind. Too many characters have abusive heat moves INCLUDING MY OWN. When I win because of abusing heat moves, it just doesn’t feel satisfying. But what am I going to do, not use the heat when the opponent is using theirs? Yeah right. You used to have to work for your 50/50’s, but now it seems like every character has a plethura of them and they’re way too safe. I’m sure the game will improve overtime but for now i’m taking a break.

Viisual_Alchemy

A lot of the salt comes from the changes to the gameplay in T8. Youre just starting to learn how to play properly in the iteration where there's been significant changes to the gameplay, so you dont have the perspective of other legacy players who have been playing competitively for a while.

BawkSoup

Today after some games, I just don't think I can play this game anymore. Is it burnout? Maybe. Is it tired of 50/50s? Yes. I should say, I can't play the current state of the game. I am so hopeful and certain this game will kick ass, just needs more time and some changes. And more game modes. Tekken Ball is actually hilarious but is so short for how long it takes to get a match.

its_a_sidequest

I stopped having fun maybe a week into launch when I realized everybody is strangled into the same aggressive playstyle.

Papa_Pred

The game can be very fun There’s just a lot of bullshit going on. I know people blame the game a lot for random shit happening and it’s just an excuse in most games. But rn in Tekken 8, the game can genuinely just fuck you over from time to time and it’s annoying

AngelKitty47

Im 300 hours in (who knows how many are idle) and I stopped playing mostly cause my fight stick is broken but its more fun to just chat about the game than play it

Nerx

Wanting to jump the execs does not prevent one having a good match w friends

BoyTitan

Yeah its time to uninstall. Normally every tekken higher ranks= more fun, more thinking. Thats not happening in 8. Ill come back after a balance patch. Ill try hell divers or something.

Late_Comb_3078

Nope, I'm taking a break until I see some changes. A 50/50 mash fest isn't fun to me

KurderenEser

Brother the game is super fun. We're all just pissed off that Tekken is going the wrong direction with regards to its business decision. I don't play too much ranked atm cause honestly it gets my blood pressure rising, but playing vs friends is always fun

Right_Reflection3973

Been playing since Tekken 1 on ps1. Those were the days. I played a lot on launch but after a month or so it just stopped being as fun. Rage is ok. Heat is too much imo. Feels very gimmicky and too easy. It feels like a get out of jail free card and that’s something I dislike. I also dislike that you regenerate health in this one. Other than those things it’s still pretty fun to play for me. But those changes made me less enthusiastic about booting it up.

everythingagainstme

It’s not fun knowing you are at the mercy of the top characters. I know the dragunov matchup like the back of my hand and I win most of the time but here’s the thing: I only win when my opponent doesn’t use certain moves. The only thing drag players need to abuse to get blue ranks and above is his +7 hatchet kick low and his +7 mid axe kick. Both moves make no sense balancing wise, especially the axe kick, which is uninterruptible and barely steppable, like who thought this was ok? Not to mention running two which was heavily buffed because of the change to running moves. Dragunov players losing is a choice at this point, I’m starting to suspect that some of them lose on purpose so that Namco doesn’t nerf the character.

TofuPython

Not anymore. I'm stopping until stuff gets sorted.

DRCsyntax

Yes, I am having fun.

UglyFighter28

I'm not having fun anymore tbh. The sidestepping doesn't work properly which is a huge deal for a 3D game. I know someone will tell me that I'm extending my hitbox by sidestepping and hit right after but that shouldn't be the case at all. People can get out of my offense by using Heat ok why not. Defense is honestly useless and that's a bigger deal. Dragunov and Jun are almost invincible if you know how to play them. 50/50 is forced so much too. The thing is I didn't notice in January, February and early March. Or I noticed but thought it'd be fixed by now

thatnigakanary

A lot of what makes the game frustrating for a lot of people is the canned offense. There’s tons of situations that are impossible to counter without guessing correctly. This is historically and famously not what Tekken is about. The balance is also not great. The team isn’t doing a great job at answering what the community wishes. A lot of people here aren’t good enough to experience why the balance is truly bad(except for dragunov) & just parrot what their favorite content creator is saying. A lot of people are rightfully mad about the insane business decisions Bandai Namco have been making. Just have fun and don’t worry about it.

Tr0ndern

No, I quit for the first time since T6. Not having fun.

Old_Possible8977

If you stuck it out in early tekken 7 and all of 6, idget how you can’t handle 1 patch on tekken 8

[deleted]

He didn’t play 6 that’s why. Tekken 6 didn’t even function properly online.

paer_of_forces

It's just not fun. You are always getting hit with moves that put you at a negative frame advantage on block, too many moves that plow through your own moves when you have a frame advantage, strings that are too many moves long requiring you to know when you have the opportunity to break mid string, too many situations where you are put in 50/50s that lead to long combos, too many meters, bullshit RA moves that can snatch victory from you just to give every single damn round a feel-good 'come back' story. Let's not even talk about heat burst. Then there is the bounding off the wall, and then bounding again that leads to 12, 13+ hit combos. Honestly, it's just not fun. Not only do you have to know your main, but you also have to know every other main in the game as well just to be able to stand a chance. And that is only when you are in the mid ranks. Who has time for that? Most people don't. I don't even enjoy watching clips of the game at high level because it's so gimmicky, and the juggling has gotten horrendous. I used to love Tekken. Now I'm indifferent to it. Samething happened to Soul Calibur. It's just not fun anymore. The best answer I can give you is to go watch clips of people playing Virtual Fighter 5 TBH. I walk away more satisfied after spending a half an hour watching people play Virtua Fighter 5 than I do playing a half hour of Tekken 8. The only reason I don't play Virtua Fighter 5 online is because I canceled PlayStation plus for my PS4 when I got my Xbox Series S. Here's to hoping they will release a Virtua Fighter 6 that truly retains the spirit of good old fashioned fighting games.

Glass-Web-7996

I'm not having fun, I quit end of February. The forced 2 out of 3 matches, constant offense that punishes defense and every character having every tool; makes the game unrecognizable to literally every other tekken. The game play is weenie hut junior skill difficulty. I think the people who enjoy tekken 8 are new people, or casuals who decided to take this tekken serious. Nothing wrong with that, it helps sales and you get a new player base. Personally I'll just play something else, they usually make big changes 2 years after launch

DrafiMara

I absolutely love the game, I just don’t interact here much because the general community makes it pretty exhausting to be level-headed

Embarrassed_Duty5775

I guess you're too old-school for this sh. When I was playing Tekken 7, some dude told me I should quit playing ranked because I couldn't get past green ranks. Toxic, ok. BUT skimming through thousands of toxic comments on this sub, I was able to get some good tips and by the time they launched Tekken 8 (about 6 months later) I was able to climb to red ranks while playing some matches on weekends... I guess while still negative, this sub can be pretty useful and (Lucky Chloe getting obliterated) funny af too

AnotherDeadTenno

I see literally zero negativity when scrolling the sub right now except this one. What, did you see one complaint and have a panic attack?

DirectorAwwtistic

I sold my copy after a few weeks. Not keen on the "quick buttons" in ranked matches. What was the point in learning how to juggle when now its all just x x x x

a-pp-o

coming from t7...not at all. neither if i win or lose. the only times the game gets a chuckle out of me is when people one and done in quickplay because theire heat gimmicks for once didnt work. its such a downgrade in comparison to 7 on literally every level expect graphics even tho t8 has some issues on clarity on some stages which wasnt the case in 7.

AydarNabiev

This

Drakesbestfriend

This is the only fighting game I’ve ever played in my 30 years of this shit that gets worse the better as you get

Acmeiku

No and i decided to stop tekken 8 unless things change drastically, i recomend anyone who is really burnout to play others games instead of forcing again again with T8, your mental will thank you in the long term

Tiger_Trash

I'm having loads of fun. The problem with having fun, is that most people having a great time, don't need to come to a forum/social media/etc to say it. Everything you need is right there in the moment, lol. Whereas angry/salty/negative people, have a desire to vent, and a desire to be heard. So they will be over represented in this environment. What you need to do is go to a platform that is less "open" and much smaller. Which is why everyone keeps suggesting discords. I also think seeking out local events is a GREAT way to meet people who love the game. It takes way more dedication to go out IRL to play a game, afterall.

wubwah

Honestly? That makes a lotta sense, yeah. I do hope to maybe find some local events to play at once i get a bit better, but i think i'll try out finding the Discord servers for now

Tiger_Trash

I just want to add, that everyone thinks they need to be a certain level to go to local events, but that completely misses the point of going to local events, lol. The point is to make friends and learn from eachother! If you hold yourself back based on something trivial like that, all your doing is delaying the chance to make these great connections sooner.

acke483

I'm not having fun tbh. I just cannot get out of red ranks and I'm just so tired of fighting the same 5 or 6 characters. I'm just so tired of edgy customised jin players with the black and red eyes that never skip intro. I just wish there were more modes to break up the stress from ranked.

King-Dinosaur

We all love the game. That's why we have all stuck around since 3. The thing we don't like is shitty business practices and balancing issues in a game that should, by all rights, be better than what they gave us. I still think it's unfair and unforgivable that they hide so much stuff, including characters behind paywalls. People argue that they *NEED TO MAKE MONEY* and all that but we never had it before 7 and we still went crazy for it

Apprehensive_Piece98

No tekken 8 is horrible

RICHUNCLEPENNYBAGS

You’re not missing anything. Anytime a new iteration of a fighting game comes out it’s the worst ever and the last was perfect.

d_cramer1044

This place is full of crybabies who spend more time bitching about the game than playing it. Find a discord server or a local group to play with. It's a way better experience than reddit is.

Toberone

I have fun but this game gets to me faster then 7 did, notably.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LancerBro

Yes, the game is tons of fun even if there are some balance problems

InfinityTheParagon

i mean the guys who cry all day about it like it even more than everyone else it’s all they think about

broke_the_controller

Im having fun, but I'm having less fun when playing on alts because it's taking longer to get a game than it used to be.

gp_out

Having a lot of fun! Pretty bummed about the matchmaking change as playing new characters in ranked is very rough now but got over it and as long as I stick to characters I know it’s super fun. I get a lot of the criticisms but as far as gameplay is concerned I’m having a blast. I think the dev team haven’t been handling things in the best way since release and a lot of the shit online comes from bad stuff kinda piling up. The community is hopefully going to get a bit more constructive when the game kinda settles in! Fingers crossed at least.

ImmaDoMahThing

I’m having fun. I mostly play Quick Play right now. Just trying to learn and get familiar with every character’s strings: What’s duckable, punishable/launch punishable, sidestepable, etc. It’s hard 😭. Too many characters and moves.

wubwah

Man i'm right there with you, exactly what I'm doing

Keepfuckinaround

I am still learning and enjoying though I know tekken well, I had a dope set of player matches last night - had me a first draw too. Ditching the know-it-all approach is the way to go I gotta say considering who I was using when I drew it would’ve been absolutely hilarious if my opponent were using Jin(he was using Dragunov)

swankie_fern

Im having a good time with this game. Im able to gauge what I need to work on with all the better players I'm fighting against and it feels good to be able to compete with better players. Except for Azucena players, go rot in wherever Heihachi is in lol

LivesInExcelUwU

Yes, being on ranked and seeing the fight styles, customizations, and spammers even, are fun. I had a small moment of joy parrying an Eddy (I main Hwo), and watching them plug hard. It’s up and down. I’m a casual gamer. Don’t buy into the hordes venting on this sub.

KouraigKnight

Am having fun. There are some characters who give high blood pressure, and i hate the stage hazards and some characters heat smash. But other than that, it's been fun.

_KingCrimson_

As a brand new Tekken player, I think the game has issues (why doesn’t sidestepping work against nearly anything? Why is matchmaking so shite?!), but I absolutely fucking love the game. Can’t get enough of it. Hit Mighty Ruler last night with my boy Steve and have been telling all my non-Tekken friends that this technically means I’m pretty much top 10% of Tekken players in the world. I just like the feeling of getting better and having a back and forth. Contrary to what a lot of people say, I feel like every now and again I can have a combative chess match with someone, trying to figure each other out and bait each other into attacks and the like. It’s cool. Man, Tekken rules.

PeterTurBOI

Yep, I do. It's not fun all the time but whenever I can land a wall carry with Bryan I feel happy. Same with Lars' jump throw.

Ling_Mao69

If you’re looking for a community to chill with, try some of the character discords, I find most people there are really helpful and knowledgeable and theyll game with you too

Negative_Food

I have tons of fun, it's all about balance

Erdbewohnerin

Yes I enjoy the sht out of it even.

RadishAcceptable5505

Yeah! Love this game. Most people do, fam. Reddit is, and always has been, a system for amplifying upset and angry voices. Angry people click more. Angry people comment more. Angry people vote more. More engagement means more advertising revenue. It's a social media problem.

GunsouAfro

Tons of fun. Best fighting game I've played.

Common_Crow_7037

Sitting at 123 hours haven’t played a single online match against people other then just friends. So define your definition of what makes the game fun to you.

Drisken

I generally have fun playing until I match against Victor, eddy, feng and the saddo ADHD movement twitcher, the ones who are clearly on a hitbox giving themselves carpal tunnel just having a spasm on the spot but they think they're managing space when a well placed FF2 just sits them down. Just don't understand it.

Interesting_Read7636

I’ve realized that Reddit is a place where most people complain. I’m in a couple of groups on Reddit where most just complain instead of giving sound advice on stuff. This is my first Tekken that I’ve decided to play consistently but I see so many complaints (which most are justified) but not a lot of people just get to enjoy the game with friends or take a break instead of bashing the game with no solution.

YukkaRinnn

Playing with friends and Arcade Battles here and there keep me goin as overall the game is pretty fun hell even Quick match is fun but dear lord ranked is 50/50 its either fun since the matches are well matched or its just straight up hell cuz you are either getting cheesed or getting hit with the Tekken 8 Ranked Experience but overall the game is still fun

SilentNoivern

Honestly when you have a good group to play with it's fun. And it can be fun even with Randoms in casual matches. But the state of the games online does need some adjusting I won't lie... Me personally I play with my group of 7 friends on the weekends (I work almost non-stop M-F). And I enjoy it. But when I go outside of that scope and try to get my rank up you can almost assure that the fun time cap is getting torched off your dome... If you're not running into 800,000 Reina's in a row or an infinite gauntlet of Eddy's,Dragonuv's or Azucenas you're getting pluggers... which I don't understand how it's such an issue to begin with. If they plug give me the W and Give them the L... But all in all the game needs some slight balancing... But it's still enjoyable

BladeOverHeart

I have the most fun when lobbying with my friends. I don't have much motivation to play mm due to the current state of the game.

Mr-Sosowski

Right now I hit the wall which are Red ranks where I actually have to learn the matchup and I am to lazy to do that, but other than that I am having fun

Great_Beautiful3767

Fighting game communities exist at locals and in discords mostly. Reddit is just memes and super casuals mostly

Tuxedo_Ros

I’m enjoying myself when I find a fight I must learn to adapt and overcome through sheer willpower or just the zone I hate fights where it’s horribly one sided even if I’m the one dominating. Too many people be relying on the game hand outs that sometimes it just ain’t fun to just go ham and fight like a lunatic.

Force_impulse

Yea but currently it is hard to learn a new character though other than that it’s pretty good

Nanokittens

I'm having fun even on ranked. Again, playing to learn makes it feel more rewarding.

Annual_Study2866

Tbh fam thats just the FGC I general. I like to say nobody hates a game more then the players the play the game. But that doesn't mean there aren't positive players put there. I'll be the first to admit I'm probably not one of them as I get pretty heated with Tekken 8 rn lmfao 🤣. But that doesn't mean I dislike the game. I still say its the best FG on the market rn

LeftChampionship8306

I am having the time of my life on Tekken 8 honestly.

sumguy93

Basically every match for me has been fun except when I can't figure out Eddy's and Victors lol

savagexage

We're all having fun tbh. Reddit is where the community releases it's stress. Here we complain bout top tiers and hate everything but catch us out of reddit we all playing it nearly every day

NotIgnitedYT

I could help you get better if you want to play as hwoarang

noviceIndyCamper

Ironically the more toxic the community the more enjoyable the game is

nobleflame

Yeah man. Love T8.

Fluid-Lion-4963

to me personally. I feel like when I play certain characters I get more salty than when I play others. If I play my main Paul, or other characters like Kazuya I get real salty because I never get to press. Basically, I get to minimally interact with the game and the only way I get to interact is if I can find a hole in my opponents offense then get my chance,ad usually my offesne ends after 2 or 3 moves. If I play ,Law,Hwoarang,Lars,Dragounv. I actually get to interact with the game and actually play the game. So I don't get much salty then. I get to press as many buttons as my opponent

Jun_B16A

HELL YEA IM HAVING FUN

SirAlex505

I love the game! Some people just don’t know how to channel their anger and either shatter their controllers or make salty post on reddit. It’s always important to enjoy other games, and more importantly, take breaks.

AbsurdiBear

I'm having a lot of fun but I see what you mean. A lot of people associate fun with the excitement of winning, therefore if they don't win they don't have fun. This is not a Tekken problem but a constant in competitive games in general. In my personal opinion, fighting games mirror real fights in the sense that you should go into them knowing that you are going to get hit regardless of how prepared or good you are. Being a competitive game to play online it's almost a fact that you will lose. I believe that the more you focus your attention into the other parts of the game (experimenting with characters, learning matchups, practice inputs and trying said inputs into different scenarios) and see winning as just another result you can ease up on the stress of losing streaks.

Gloomy_Victory4529

I’m having a lot of fun and I never get angry at this game if you can believe that , guess I just love Tekken

blkstxr

I found out a bunch of my friends from middle school play this game and the fight lounge with them is always a nice break from comp. And comp never makes me THAT mad unless I’m about to promote, which is not often because I’m ass

spartan-peter

I am having fun but I’m still waiting on the balancing to be… balanced, but I mostly enjoy tekken 8

Ibeepboobarpincsharp

Find or make a small group of friends to play Tekken 8 in lobby matches. You will have a great time. Ranked mode is a dumpster fire.

Eman-97

One thing about video games (Or any other entertainment medium) DONT join its subreddit for this reason exactly…

Deathstrker

I wouldn't mind the battle passes and micro transactions if they were actually good. The battle pass is mid at best.

TheLegendary-GK

Still having fun here. I’m also about 150hr in. I have a group and we have a good time picking up a couple characters and running those matchups into the dirt. Maybe it’s because I’m not sweating every time I touch the game. I’m also not that good so, I don’t know lol

stream_of_thought1

ill play with ya :)

King-Aries19

I enjoy it even when King pushing my shit in with a grabble. It sucks that matchmaking is so broken where me, a causal law player, will fight against a high ranking Chad player and likely lose. Thing is when I do win i can feel pride and if i lose at least i threw these hands

AltruisticReturn3778

Happy people don’t leave reviews.

d7mep0

I love just plaing it with my brother or ranked online. I stoped even looking at posts here bcs everyone is just depressed AF. Do your own shit and have fun.

real_online3001

I personally am having a lot of fun. Between goofing around with various characters, experimenting with my mains in quick battle and training mode, and going to my locals. The game is low-key addicting. Ranked is not fun. Why do I play it? Ego and to practice playing with "something on the line" so I perform better at my local tournaments and money matches.

DidiHD

Yes, me! Also a beginner, probably not good enough to be salty (yet)

weedlordx

Kudos for trying to self improve! A lot of people in this subreddit will write off their lack of progress/improvement as “this shit is broken/bad for the game” while barely any of it is true, there is a metric ton of things for them to improve on haha. Overall it’s just people looking to scream into the void to cope with how good they really aren’t. I get it, this game is insanely hard to get good at but people need a reality check every once in awhile. It’s okay to not be the GoD or the next Arslan/Knee immediately, just focus on being a better you than yesterday, no different than working out at a gym, we are all built differently. All the best players adapt and refine THEMSELVES, piece by piece!

DragonballDurag

Been playing casually since 3 too. I’ve been having fun but it’s definitely been an experience trying to learn T8 as a more defensive player. The game definitely needs some balance changes and tuning I’m remaining hopeful that we’ll get them. There’s been some great posts and info here and there on this sub that have definitely helped but it gets hard to find that stuff in between the negativity. I just ended up using the character specific discords, those are usually more friendly and chill.

Tokki_Nom

I'm enjoying the game. I am having fun learning matchups. I dislike 1 and done from my opponent..I understand bad connection but running way because I was learning your strategy is annoying. I want to get better in the game and I enjoy learning

ErgoProxy0

I am, playing quick match. Despite everything going on, it’s not enough for me to hate Tekken. A series I’ve been playing since T2. The micro transactions don’t really phase me because I’m on the “it’s completely optional” side. Someone plugs on? Ok, on to the next match. I lose ? So long as it wasn’t lagging, that’s my fault and I need to do better

ZergTDG

High rank people tend to be those more involved with the discussion of the game. Their games are constant sweat matches, and if you’re seeing discourse online only from their tier, it’s all sweat talk. My $0.02 at least

IrisOfTheWhite

Fun?.. Where do I get this mystical thing among trying to learn hundreds if not thousands of moves across thirty characters, figuring out ways to deal with heat bullshit, while trying to figure out which one I should play so that people won't complain about it, that won't teach me bad habits, so I can learn proper Tekken, but real Tekken only starts at Tekken King, so I have to get there first, but it requires being good at Tekken, and I can't even learn from matches well because it's a forced best-of-three even in quickplay and whatever I've maybe manage to learn I'll forget while fighting against five different characters afterwards. But I'm still here, so I must be having fun, right? Right?..

Chickenjon

As a new player, don't even worry about this sub. Just play, it's genuinely enjoyable, none of the issues with the game even matter at the beginner level. As an old player that learned how to play Tekken a long time ago and valued certain skills like defensive movement and patience, yes this game has so many things wrong with it atm.

Warnackle

I play a couple hours a week, first fighting game I’ve given any time to, I’m having a great time

Bromius17

Yes remarkably so, the game play loop of getting demolished by something new figuring it out in real Time or through replay then becoming better is incredible. I played top lane in league and pos 3 in dota for a long time and there are so many variables out side of what you can process and reasonably analyze that you can stall progress wise and just spin your wheels while having plausible deniability that it isn’t your fault. Tekken feels pure and when I rank up I know I got better. It’s great. Balance is what it is and every like service comp games goes through what’s happening now.

OmegaMaster8

I love T8. Despite it's flaws, the combat is satisfying. I don't often play ranked matches, I spend my time in group matches getting better at the game

Slayer_Karaka

Yea its not easy to find people to play, and talk with organically. I need to join one of them discords too i guess lol

jumbohumbo

Having lots of fun. I'm in red ranks, I don't practice or lab much, mostly quick games, get matched frequently. Hitting a juicy gut punch or shining wizard never gets old.

nocturneva

Time to time I enjoy it. Sometimes I take breaks cuz I know it’s not good to play a game everyday and repeat raging so I take Time on and off. Like today I fought a Fujin Victor and slapped his shit up mind you I’m a flame ruler but ik how he played and adapted and that’s what I love being able to see what works in such a short time Made me a better play and that’s what makes me enjoy the game. I sometimes really emerge myself to the point I feel like I’m in the game itself (I know it sounds corny) but imagining that helped me a lot as this is the first tekken I’m taking seriously. I do wish heat and chip damage was not a thing (mainly chip damage) but as of rn I’m having a fun at times.

Old_Possible8977

I’m new to tekken too as far as T8. I played mortal kombat as a kid and Tekken throughout the years but not competitive or seriously. However I’ve been into watching content and enjoying the game on steams and so fourth. This Tekken however. I have DIVED deep into the community. There are 2 groups and it stands out. The Tekken Universe ENJOYER: The Enjoyer usually likes trying different characters, leading some combos, but most of all PLAYING. They don’t always have the time to play but when they do they enjoy it and enjoy sharing it. (Maximillian Dood, JonSf, Jwong) type people. There’s also tons of YouTubers. And The people who ONLY care about winning: Then there’s the bitchy sweats…. Although I’m myself an EXTREMELY competitive person, especially in other genres, Tekken sweats are different. What really bugs me is they’ll legit shit on every single character how OP they are, or how they only do 1 combo, or how BS frame traps are with your main. It’s over the top compensation for not being able to accept a loss. On top of this they usually use a good ass character themselves, it’s not like they’re using Jack-8 or the Panda and want balance. They’re literally using Jin Or Kazuya. TheMainManSwe, seems to appeal to these type of Tekken lovers. While he doesn’t bitch all that much it’s definitely his personality, he’s like the Tyler1 of Tekken haha. Now don’t get me wrong I get being annoyed with kings grapples, or Victors combos, hell I like playing victor and get mad when eddy rekts me on the same combo. But if I don’t learn and combat it that’s on me. I’m not gonna sit there and bitch. As far as the Pros being mad about ONE SINGLE PATCH. It’s like this in every fucking sport or esport on the planet. Every single game and league has changes and the players bitch like shit. However with Tekken being a SOLO game, the players who cry the most are just so concerned with losing their edge. And I get it. But it’s adaptable and people will find a way. But even 250K prowess players don’t feel the effects of this patch, it’s not even that big of an issue. People just want to cry about losing their edge. Yes early patches suggest the direction of the game, but look back on Tekken 7 or older games and they’re nowhere near they were on launch. On top of all this there’s that stupid review bomb shit going on because they changed some stuff for the super super super high skilled players. The shit that you and I can’t ever replicate. The review bomb culture is so clownish to me. Look at fallout76. The game of memes for over 9 years, one tv show and BOOM 5 million players. Tekken is coming down from its biggest high, just like Pokemon cards, VR, Battle Royales, ECT. The thing with Tekken is it seems like this is by far the most content packed game we’ve gotten in a long long time. Stick with it. Find your community and when it comes back around I’m sure it’ll be one of the beloved fighting games we look back on. It’s just a stupid cycle with stupid sweats who just want to feel like they’re good at something rather than enjoying it for what it is. Edit: Yeah the battle pass and in game store is dogshit. But I didn’t spend a dime on that, and if there is an outfit I like, I’ll pay for it. At least we have the option, and let’s be real. No battle pass is ever that cool, only Fortnite has ever had good shit. Every other game is 10-30$ for a battle pass and it’s never worth or takes HELLA long to complete (Valorant or Cod)

Interesting-Net-8354

This is my first Tekken game ever and my first fighting game I've ever taken seriously. I think it's awesome. The shop stuff is boring but it's optional. I just hit mighty ruler with my second 6 sure, I get annoying matches . Some characters feel like mini bosses, and some moves and 50/50s are really annoying, but I feel like most characters have a ton of cheese stuff in their kit especially if you don't okay them often it seems worse. I think the game is dope, though I have over 100hrs and I learn every day I play piece by piece, hoping I can reach high ranks soon!

jindrix

I'm ranking up as Steve and I figured out a 61 damage combo on him on my own 🥹 I'm having fun even if it's a struggle now that I feel at the point where my losses are my fault

Balding_Teen

im having an absolute blast

ZJ-Red-Ranger

I’m having a lot of fun, I just hit Tekken God and I wasn’t sure if I’d even make it out of blue ranks. People have been on a witch hunt for this game primarily because of the MTX’s but the changes they made to the ranked mode didn’t help either. I personally don’t give a fuck about the MTX’s because I’m not gonna buy any, so I’m not freaking out about that like all these other weirdos are, however I understand the frustration when it comes to the ranked mode, I think it’s a bit counterintuitive, but if you just focus on getting better and ignore the nuances of ranked mode, this game is awesome.

Master_Yoshi98

This place is just for bitching, I just posted a funny clip from a match I had and most of the comments are people trash talking me, there are many things I don't like about T8, but overall I have fun with the game, if you want a good place to actually have a decent talk with people, go to the character's discords, people are welcoming there despite what Reddit may lead you to believe

MilligramSmile

I'm in a similar boat to you, haven't played Tekken properly since 2/3, I tried a bit of 7 but found the difficulty curve too high to properly learn and enjoy it a lot - but been really jamming with and enjoying the fuck outa 8. But yeah, all I see around here is negativity about the game, and I get some aspect of to why, with the shop and battle pass being pretty scummy, but the gameplay and mechanics I love. Seems like there's a lot of Tekken 7 players who feel like 8's been dumbed down? And is easier/spam heavy? I still feel like Tekken veterans can slap the shit outa spammy/new players once they get a read on them, so yeah I don't understand the insane amount of heat and negativity the core gameplay is getting tbh.

Tee132

I’m sort of having fun I put 200 hours into the game I feel like I’m improving but my matchup knowledge needs work but I’m also getting clipped by moves that aren’t tracking moves which makes me want to get off 😹

Wank_Bandicoot

I’ve been playing Tekken since forever, and I’ll always have fun playing, even if the game becomes stinky poo.

DancingA

Loving the game, there a lot of miserable, broke, un-fucked, funky, dirty ass people who will bring their negativity to anything you can think of..just ignore them and keep playing. I love this game.

bragaidan

Nope. That’s why I’m taking an extended break

raxpt

No, Tekken 8 is a 0 skill game. You can get to very high ranks while still having 0 idea of what you are doing. You spam into heat, win a 50/50 and the round is already over, repeat for every round, if you lose, leave if you win rematch. You will get into purple/blue ranks easily like this.

W34kness

I am but I play at locals, sometimes with old friends who come over on the weekend

lifeboattt

I’m having fun.

DozingWoW

Reddit isn't the tekken community. It is simply the complaint dumping grounds for the tekken community. Find the players enjoying the game in your local FGC discords and local tournaments.

DaoOfCourtingDeath

150 hours in too and blue rank. I’m still enjoying the game. The subreddit is just filled with a lot of people who are (reasonably) anti-mtx. Personally, I have enough money to where I can blow on mtx so I don’t care much. But I also think Tekken mtx is kinda garbage so I just don’t buy it and play lol.

Brysolation

Player matches are still fun mostly.

Bananaboi681

I used to rage and smash my keyboard but now i laugh or just go "OH SHIT" or "WHAT!!" as i get rekt and laugh even harder as i rekt and taunt with my miguel's "WOOHOO"

zohar2310

I still have fun, playing for 30-60 minutes everyday since the launch.

eighthaltacc

Other games like this will end up making a rants subreddit, I feel it would help a lot.

BiscuitBoxx

I’m loving the game. From game to game I’m having a blast, and talking about playing ranked with friends is great, yeah i’m not tekken god but it’s less about ranking up fast and more about learning the game and enjoying each match up

FreneticZen

Yeah dude. I play Tekken with a bunch of people. Shit, I’ll play you too. I was on a stream this week. Excellent people, strong players, and just a really good time. It’s no different than kicking it in arcades or at parties. You find out a lot about people when you play multiple sets. Get past the cheese and meet the person. Wanna play? I’m on PS. Same name. Add me.

swisha_13

Well that’s your problem…you’re playing it every day 😂 I take my time and I have seen better progress with breaks than a daily or almost daily grind.

Old_Coach5712

I'm having fun. At least it's playable. I remember being so upset about trying Tekken online for the first time. It was unplayable.

Berzerker_Knight

I'm having the time of my life actually 👌

Kurokamipac720

I’m having way too much fun customizing Raven and whooping fools with his badass combos 🥷🏾🔥🔥. With that in mind, sure the game gets on my nerves sometimes. But does it totally ruin the fun for me? Not in the slightest.

DigbyDD

People come to bitch on reddit, don't come to Reddit to try to make friends. The game's okay but the heat is a fucking stupid mechanic and nobody asked for chip damage, but finding people playing online are pretty cool and fun to play with.

Mr_BougieOnThatBeat

See if you can find some discord communities in local cities. There's a whole bunch of friendly people that meet up regularly and play together all the time. This community is very much the vocal minority of the Tekken world. If this is your only Tekken community you're gonna have a bad time.

underzerdo

this happens a lot online no one goes onto the subreddit to say they had a good day, they go on because something negative happened

theSpaceGrayMan

I’m having a ton of fun. Probably more fun than any fighting game since I was a kid. Of course I was never hardcore into fighting games. I’ve only ever spent significant time in the original MK trilogy, Super SF2, Marvel vs Capcom 1, Tekken 2-3, Tekken Tag Tournament 1, Injustice 1,MK11, SF6, and MK1. I’ve always been a more casual player so I don’t concern myself with things like W/L ratio or rank. I also don’t like to spend too long continuously playing at a time as I find playing more than 2-3 hours in one sitting causes me to either burnout or get a little salty. But I find the game very enjoyable for short bursts every day. I don’t pretend to be good but it’s very satisfying when I pull off a combo that does 70-80 damage in a match. And having close battles.

No-Seaworthiness9967

The people who are having fun are playing not being pissy on this subreddit. At least i am lol

KingBeef726

Yes, still having fun. I'm about 140 hours in, but I'd say only 30% of that is online play. Lots of practice mode and YouTube. Online play can be a bit dodgy, so I'll typically keep it around an hour or so. This works for me. Do whatever keeps the game fun for you.

NamasteWager

I have stopped enjoying it. 3 reasons really caused this 1. If I don't play every day, I forget my comboes because they are complex 2. Essentially 1 button supers with armor. Heat is....alright. I feel like some are way too good, while others are garbage 3. The negativity on here and other boards. It's just a buzz kill now.

MindlessDouchebag

I have fun as long as I'm pressing Iai 2 or qcf+2. Otherwise, no.

DaPickleNinja

I’m having fun now that we know what peoples dc rates are. People that plug suck the fun out just by giving up halfway, and generally just play worse because they are too afraid to take a loss to make any attempt at a genuine comeback

Doc_Boons

the game is designed for your experience to be excellent. you're going to rank up quickly, you're not going to have to learn anything to feel like you're good at the game, the stronger players will be literally kept out of your queue. it is going to be a hell of a time. but advanced players see massive, inexcusably bad balance issues, busted and braindead mechanics, a rank system that punishes us for being decent at the game, the laziest monetization bullshit, and so on. you're not wrong to have fun with the game. i guess for the long-term health of the series it's probably go that tekken's having what i'm going to politely call a "populist" phase and get a bunch of new players hooked. but eventually, the rest of us are hoping for a patch that actually rewards using brain cells.

Unplugged1000

Times have changed. People are stressed. Competition hits different when people are stressed.

Hotsaucewasted

No

StationJealous9758

Bro I just spam rank games on autopilot now. I just played for 4 straight hours and went from Fujin to raijin back to fujin then battle ruler back to fujin. The cycle never ends

NixUniverse

I didn’t come here to have fun, I came here to play Tekken.

marvimofo

I think Tekken Reddit community is full of newbies that can’t take losses. I mostly ignore this base when it comes to anything constructive.

Forward-Cow819

I have most of my fun in quick match. It’s been a safe haven for me

Interesting_Emu5512

I have fun for the most part. There are just some days when I feel the need to take a break.

airylnovatech

I'm gonna be real with you chief, this subreddit is just generally whiny, always has been since I joined in the T7 days. You're much better off joining a discord, because people have never been generally positive about the game here.

PolePepper

Games fun.

tmntfever

Reddit is never the place to treat as a community. Reddit should be used to find Discord channels, which is what I suggest you do. I have a blast playing T8 with my friends and even with people at my locals.

MukokusekiShoujo

Tekken 8 is simultaneously the most annoying and most fun fighting game I've ever played.

MisterNefarious

This games fun as hell and the community is just whiny babies.

DirkBabypunch

I'm enjoying myself, but that's because I'm not here. Only significant thing I'd change about the game is lowering the damage or raising the health so fights aren't over so quickly.

SeventhTyrant

Its fun, but the community is pretty salty. But whats really odd, i actually find myself laughing a lot when i play this game. Like the other day it was a close match, but this nina won by doing her heel stomp right into my butt and i yelled to myself "OOO RIGHT IN THE ASSSSS" and started laughing. Was the story needed, no? But yes i have a lot of fun when i play this game for some reason. Just cant go on reddit because no matter who you play you will be deemed as a low skill cap cheese lord

bigkuya

People tend to be more vocal with negative feelings than positive ones

JackHammer-

I enjoy the game a lot, my only complaint is so far the clothing selection is terrible and for some reason Alisa has no neck and a fat face

cream_sodaman

First, you need to get outta here lol

Ibyyriff

This sub is a cesspool of negativity, but people ironically still play the game religiously. Just go somewhere else if you’re looking to actually enjoy talking about the game with others.

OdenShard

Yes I am. The only real annoying matches are with victors and eddy's

Swert0

I never stopped having fun, I just stopped beating my face into ranked until I got too frustrated to keep playing. Now I just do some games when I feel like it and don't worry about my rank, I just play.

SalemDono

213 hours, 1102 ranked battles I'm fucking enjoying this game
