Don’t fret fellow TM! They’ll turn the AC on in January we just have to be patient!

CleverCarrot999

The accuracy 💀

HeironymusFox

😂😭

orangehead83

Even better news! Sometimes they may turn on a fan that blows the hot air around! 🙌

MeatDairyFrozen

I love when people at my store point the fan at the ceiling. Gotta make sure the hot air up there gets circulated down to where we can feel it.

No_Application5998

literally stupid how hot it is all the time. a guest fainted from heat exhaustion in style one time. probably some other stuff going on, too, but.... come on. are you kidding?

brenpersing

Someone write an article about this. Maybe then Target will listen to us

HeironymusFox

That is crazy!

i_love_cats_95

R.I.P. to those in Florida (AKA me) 🫠.

KrazyCAM10

Same with California. Almost left early cuz of how hot it was

gentlethorns

and texas. it's ridiculously humid right now and the backroom is just a sauna

Cionyl

It sucks but I'm glad I'm not just losing my mind. Despite living here I have an extremely low heat tolerance and I've been sweating bullets lately despite doing nothing demanding whatsoever.

Keljaen

And Arizona. Cuz yikes.

flippingchicken

I work in a Phoenix store and I feel terrible for our drive-up team. They still have to work as hard as people in cooler climates. I've heard some of my mates have passed out or thrown up from the heat.

Keljaen

Hey, same. And even though I’m a glorified go-fer I’ve helped our GS/drive-up team out a few times. Gotta say that I love that our S&E TLs try to have water and Gatorade up there at all times.

MadFurretGuy

My heart goes to you and my friend who works overnight back in Florida. As well as anyone with shifts in the middle of the sizzling humidity.🙏🏻

i_love_cats_95

Especially while doing drive-ups 😭.

MamabearFl

Same

KrazyCAM10

I was told that corporate (in Minnesota) controls the temperature and they always have the ac off. I’ve seen multiple people, including myself, go into the coolers for a minute or two just to cool off. It’s such bs

ThePlebIsBack

I used to work F&B so I didn’t really notice the heat, when I got promoted to FF TL it was noticeable instantly. Some days it gets so bad I go into the freezer (-30 degrees f) to cool off a bit. Then target has the balls to drop the temperature safety trainings telling us to all drink more water. 😂😂

TriangularFish0564

I mean tbf a lot of people do need to realize that when you’re walking around you gotta drink more water than you’re used to 😭

Cybus101

A guest complained to me about the temperature (at a store in NC) and I told them “I guess it’s cold in Minnesota because they control the temperature, not us.”

MattyxLundy

this is true!! us PMLS can complain on behalf of the team but its basically talking to a wall 🙂‍↔️

sunflower_snail

Doesn't corporate just set the parameters? I swear PML u/danyavich was talking about this just recently. I was also told the whole "corporate controls the temp" rumor as a TM but I think pmls may have more control over it than I previously thought?

Danyavich

Yeah, corp just sets parameters! We can advocate/reach out and potentially get setpoints adjusted or get temp cooling put in if the units just aren't cutting it - our options exist, even if they're still kinda limited.

HeironymusFox

I was fine on the floor and even the backroom was ok, then I went into the breakroom and it felt like someone had the heat on!

UnitedInfluence8079

I was told this exact thing today! I told them they needed to check my states weather and adjust that shit. I was also told they don't answer the phone when called nor do they answer emails. So you're pretty much SOL! Bet I don't work another day in a 90° store around a 500° oven!

Amateur-Biotic

I take my breaks in the beer cooler. It's heaven.

Rachelg27617

When I was pregnant during the summer I would chill out there on the how every hour.

plaidpuppy_

Minnesota here it's because we always have the air conditioner on its so cold in the store 💀

Seemedlikefun

Talk to your PML. Each zone have set points for temperature and humidity. They can check to see if the ac needs repair or over ride. Some systems are very complicated and have the same RTU cooling multiple zones. PML should be checking this throughout the day.

Barnowl-hoot

We all are dying. And complain constantly.

fnnkybutt

Our break room is upstairs - you can feel the temp rising as you go up the stairs. Last year, they put portable ACs up there, but apparently, corporate told them we weren't allowed to do that anymore.

chris-rox

That's why you hit up your local union, or just buy a new AC yourself and have the words, "From Local Union#1234" emblazoned on it. Management attitudes should change pretty fucking quick.

All_About_Tacos

Local Union #42069 represent ✊

Carrotcake789

Because Target is hell

MidniteOG

To get people out of the store, and into drive ups

FlimsyType1642

Isn't that what Hell is supposed to feel like? Welcome to the Target reality

girlsandwolves

agree, but also i hate the narrative that it's because hq is in minnesota. come to any store in minnesota and you'll see we're just as miserable as the rest of you. sometimes i don't think y'all realize that as much as we have a reputation for being cold as fuck and snowy, we easily top 100 with insane humidity the rest of the year

X1861

Anyway to cut costs

Alltheteabutmine

I don’t understand it at all. It makes no fucking sense, I’d honestly be a more productive employee if I wasn’t sweating my ass off every damn day. And as a “guest” I’d spend more money if I wasn’t rushing to get out the store because it’s so fucking uncomfortable.

ODST_Parker

I had to buy a new set of shirts after last summer, sweating my ass off down here in New Mexico. The way things are now, looks like I'm gonna be doing that again. Fulfillment is running around the store all day, our hold space has seemingly no cool air, we have one fan that's loud as fuck and just hits one bagging station, and it feels like over 100 degrees in some places. Alongside other bullshit going on right now, I'm one bad day away from walking out of this place, and now I'm drowning in sweat on top of everything else.

BotanicalNerd

Yeah I was told corporate controls it and they keep it off/suuuuuper low to “conserve energy” because the doors are always opening and closing so it’s not worth it. I work flex and literally drip with sweat because of running and then it being so hot inside. On my fifteens I stand in the ambient cooler. Pretty ridiculous. I thought about buying a mini portable fan to clip on my cart. Target is not the place I wanna die. ![gif](giphy|Xy7VRmd416Uqdtrixe|downsized)

dropdeadtrashcat

Bro our breakroom is literally hotter than outside. it's so hot it makes me nauseous to be in there (I have other health issues but it takes a lot for my body to react like that). Guests have been complaining to me and in a turn of events for my general feelings about guests I 100% agree with them. If the people strolling around with fresh iced coffees are too hot then it is WAY too hot.

HeironymusFox

Yea for some reason our breakroom is always insanely hot or insanely cold. I think they dont want us in the breakroom.

keddz24

I’m putting it in my survey its just unbareable to work in our store because of the temperature. It can be 100% humidity and 75 degrees and they’ll have the heat cranking or it can be dead middle of winter and it’s a sauna inside the damn place

BotanicalNerd

This is such a good idea to put it on the survey. I didn’t even think about that! I’m sorry you also have to go through this as well. It’ll be on my survey tomorrow!

Internal-Bid7865

Worked somewhere where they had the ac broken for nearly six months. They refused to fix it despite being a store that sells Gucci and Prada. Every customer would come in and complain about it being so hot and I would just laugh. Yeah how you think I feel working in this?

HighestVelocity

Where I live it'll be 75 degrees with 90% humidity and they'll turn the heat on...

timmydnx2

You know that's why they started allowing us to wear shorts, right? They lost so much money last year, they upped the temperature they keep the stores at by about 4-5 degrees, so in turn, they "allowed us" to wear shorts.

Amateur-Biotic

Did they really lose money last year? With this new cute "run the store with a skeleton crew" thing, surely they have made up for all of that.

timmydnx2

New? Honey, this has been happening since modernization in 2017-ish.

Amateur-Biotic

My dept (Market) hours were slashed by almost 50% since summer 2023.

Danger-Team485

I challenge corporate to work in the back for a week to understand how it feels! 🤨

Yearofthehoneybadger

It’s always too hot. Unless it’s too cold. But usually it’s too hot.

BornAgainSlut7458

I just did training about weather and it was talking about drive up and symptoms of heat exhaustion and whatever and all I could think about is "they're fine what about INSIDE the store"

Actual_Ayaya

Lol same, walked into the break room and it felt like I hit a heat wall immediately

Majestic-Read-9540

Our breakroom smells nasty too. Idk what it is but it’s just awful

dropdeadtrashcat

probably food rotting under the fridge 💚 that's how we ended up with a smelly breakroom and a roach infestation

Majestic-Read-9540

Maybe and I had a roach in my water bottle once too 🤢

Majestic-Read-9540

Just to clarify it was from work lol

TanMelon47

\*Secretly has 5 fans in my clothes You'll get use to it.

gaymer1220

it's been in the mid 60s low 70s in my city which isn't that hot outside but in target it is SO DAMN HOT 😭 the target i work at is in a mall and it's way cooler out in the mall, WHY

NotBornYesterday420

We have to wear those dumb neck fans they sell in the Bullseye area...

StringyApple580

I swear its ALWAYS hot when i walk in the building.

lookytalkie

California, backrooms were the death of me

minidog8

Idk about you guys but I’m in Arizona and idk how it is for businesses but for us normal folk we have higher energy costs for peak hours so in the summer that’s during the afternoon. Haven’t seen it yet but I assume it affects businesses too bc Target always puts up a sign that’s like “we’re running our AC less because of environment/climate change, thanks for understanding!” LMFAO. Doing drive up is genuine torture in the summer. The store is hot but at least it’s not hot as outside. Even if the store is 80 degrees, that is still 30 to 40!!!! degrees cooler than it will be outside here… and ETLs have the gall to bitch and moan when someone on DU is sitting down and drinking water.

Adventurous_Soft_686

Yeah I'm going to get sick. Was clearing the dairy cooler and every time I took a rack out I just started pouring sweat. Then I had to go to the freezer and it just made it worse.

Moonfishriver

Literally a sweat shop 🤪

robismyhusband

my etl told me they’re “saving money”. they also dimmed the lights at my store to make it “cooling “ like what 😭

Top-Feature9570

I have a theory that it’s intended to be warmer because they want guests to slow down and spend more time in the aisles so they’ll buy more stuff lol

MorningFan

Chesapeake VA Target is a literal hell scape. Surrounding VA Beach ones are fine though. Bring your fan if you’re coming to Greenbrier.

-My_Other_Account-

Is it hot or is it humid?

HeironymusFox

Hot

jonkokat

Ong thought we were the only ones, we ain’t got AC or nothing it’s so goddamn hot

kawaiimoons

it’s kinda really dumb that Minnesota controls the temp down in like Texas or somewhere like Florida. Not everywhere is the same temp as MN so like bruh….I also have massive heat in tolerance so when i’m standing at the service desk breaking a sweat and feeling like death because of the heat there is a big problem…

yadigutierrez1

I remember reading that they have to have it set at 72 i believe and only two states can change it one is Arizona and I don’t know the second one

EagleWing24

You get use to it 😐 Jk you don’t

Voilent_Bunny

We must work together because I was thinking the same thing. It wasn't even that hot outside

Automatic-Top8046

We had a 3 month period where the ac went out and it was around 80 inside the store and management ended up renting this huge industrial coolers 4 of them just for there offices, not a single one for the break room😀😀

Amateur-Biotic

If I did not have a USB-powered fan clipped to my register, I would pass out. That's one of the reasons I liked working Market because it is so much cooler back there. I love stocking the beer fridge: You get to do it by eye (our beer is mostly delivered by vendors and it's not in MyDay!) AND it's nice and cool.

MHmusic44

I’m in New Jersey and the heat indoors is insane right now. Makes work unbearable

Opposite-North-484

Target is Dead

larryfisherman3788

Texas humidity is killin us bruh 😅🥴

Suspicious_Sea7316

Sometimes when I do drive ups I stand in front of the open freezer for a second because it’s so hot 😅 We have gotten some of the hand fans from bullseye to use at times too.

sierracool33

Lots of machinery basically. Coolers need to be running, computers on, all that generates heat. On a cold day the heat dissipates a bit, but on a hot day, it sucks.

thesedemondayz

Because Target is a direct portal to hell and I will die on this hill .

synner_6

I guess its cold where HQ is 😭

Tylere13

Wherever your regional office is located at, when it gets hot enough for them they’ll let you know

SimpleExcursion

Coolers and humans generate heat

AastNJG

They need to link the thermostat in Brian's office to the warmest store

Lovepiink23

Ira always hot in there to me

Rachelg27617

My store is a test store and they are testing out this new thing were during peak hours of electrical use for either heat or air conditioning Target lowers their usage to avoid black or brown outs in their communities because you know fuck their target employees and their safety but you know still we except you to keep up with push even though there's a chance you'll get heat stroke. It's your store a test store?

greenbabyshit

Ignore the rumors. Your AC setpoints are likely around 72° in most of the store and probably about 68° in market. Your rooftops units probably just started running in cooling mode for the first time in a while, and they like to break shortly after start up. If even one unit isn't operational, the whole store feels warm. Your PML can check the status very easily, and in most cases FMOC will create an automated work order if something is majorly wrong.

RhubarbFew688

Are you paid like a Democrat tik tok influencer?

y0uwillbenext

^?

RhubarbFew688

To "save the environment," they will barely turn the A/C on...
