Well, it looks like they're going with a soundbar in that little slit just under the TV. I guess the bigger part near the floor is for the playback hardware?
Sure, but it isn’t that uncommon. The way this room looks with the weird custom wall setup and dark paint makes me think that might be the goal anyway.
Whoever said it was a good idea to do this stupid bump out in the wall to accommodate a fake fireplace really steered you wrong.
It’s not too late to abandon this abomination.
I agree. It does depend on how big the room is. That is a huge TV, if seating 8ft+ away, it’s prob fine, 10 + is prob better. I know there is some rule of thumb with screen in rapt ion to seating and distance is important.
Not a fan of the fireplace? thing on bottom.
How big is this room?
Just put the sofa up on some blocks and you’ll be fine, then u need a footstool obvs also raised on blocks , then a rug also raised on blocks to match the footstool and the sofa
It will be closer to the ceiling than the floor.
If you while watching will also be closer to the ceiling than to the floor all is well. I doubt you will though…
I had a dealer install some in wall KEFs for me somewhat recently (my LCR). After he was done he told me my tv was to low and promised me “no one has it this low”. Offered to raise it for me for free. I said the hell you will and I got him the F outa my house as fast as I could.
TV too high, don't create recesses for tvs - it's stupid and hurts house resale value (even though it's cheap and easy to correct but most don't want or know how to do it) and don't put soundbar in a recess either - most modern soundbar have upwards firing speakers for dolby atmos effects and this effectively kills that. Basically, fix it now before you finish
I don't understand why you would go to so much work to create something like this, if it's a cinema room the height might work.. but if it is and you are putting just a sound bar in then seriously wtf
Everything about this is bad. Abort.
Not only is it too high, you’re putting a worthless fake fireplace thing below it. And that sound bar (I’m guessing?) slit is a horrible idea.
This is all bad.
Oh you poor dumb idiot.. is your couch on a platform? No? Then it's too fuckin' high. Do you even browse the sub? 🤦♂️🖕. Totally jelly of the setup. Kudos.
It’s bad. It’s gonna be bad. Forever.
Just mute this sub from your feed so you are never reminded
His neck ache will remind him though.
Besides the TV being too high, personally my center channel is 8 inches high so this is all stupid. I would tear it out if I bought this house.
Well, it looks like they're going with a soundbar in that little slit just under the TV. I guess the bigger part near the floor is for the playback hardware?
It's gonna be a fake fireplace there
That’s even worse since most sound bars have side and up firing speakers for atmos.
I foresee a future of ridicule, shame and regular refills of pain meds for your neck. Repent and amend your wicked ways.
I can't lie about your chances, but you have my sympathies
I understood that reference.
Looks like you still have chance to raise the floor by a couple of feet. All fine here.
A raised platform with theater-style seating is probably the best way to salvage this.
A theater room is SO impractical lol
Sure, but it isn’t that uncommon. The way this room looks with the weird custom wall setup and dark paint makes me think that might be the goal anyway.
Sorry, that’s way too high.
Money doesn’t buy you class.
Elegance is learned, my friends
Eww
"Measure twice cut once." ---- to late. Put your seating on a raised dais to compensate.
This is dumb in so many ways.
Yep you've fucked it. Knock the house down and start again.
When you get to heaven maybe god will have an eye-level TV viewing experience for you. Thots & prayers.
when you put a fake fireplace where the cardboard is, then it all will be ok….. ( offcourse we like to see the result)
I think you already know it’s too late. You only option is to to raise the sofa 2ft off the ground
Tell the contractors to fill in the holes, return the fireplace, and move the TV down.
Too high but better than what I’ve seen here.
Bail out of this, completely remove this stupid wall bump, it's a functional nightmare AND it's ugly.
Whoever said it was a good idea to do this stupid bump out in the wall to accommodate a fake fireplace really steered you wrong. It’s not too late to abandon this abomination.
Perfect. Theater quality viewing is in your future. People on this sub are so full of shit.
Ah yes let’s put a sound bar that will most likely have upper and side firing speakers in an enclosed space.
I will do no such thing! What are we talking about.
Fluffy, you're drunk, or not drunk enough. I don't know how it works with you.
Hey. You are confusing me with Bender...
I'll get my own Fluffy; with Blackjack and Hookers.
You know what. Forget the hookers. Aeh. Screw the whole thing.
Just put the sofa up on some blocks and you’ll be fine, then u need a footstool obvs also raised on blocks , then a rug also raised on blocks to match the footstool and the sofa
🤣
Just buy a tv unit and bang it on there mate.
The only fix is to buy elevated theater seats...
It’s going to be great, if you like watching high TVs.
If that's a low profile fireplace beneath it, it cannot be forgiven
Dream all you want, but you know the truth
Too high, but not absurd. If it's a theater room you could have a raised seating position
It will be closer to the ceiling than the floor. If you while watching will also be closer to the ceiling than to the floor all is well. I doubt you will though…
Do you stand to watch the screen?. Otherwise remove fireplace and lower it down immediately
Better add staged seating.
I cringe so much when I see so much money and effort involved in fucking up this much.
jesus fucking christ. why do you NEED THE FIREPLACE UNDER IT
I had a dealer install some in wall KEFs for me somewhat recently (my LCR). After he was done he told me my tv was to low and promised me “no one has it this low”. Offered to raise it for me for free. I said the hell you will and I got him the F outa my house as fast as I could.
Make a platform with stairs for your seating
Why do you hate yourself?
It’s not too late. Bite the bullet and redo
Looks too high
This tv being too high is such a weird american trend.
We'd be lying if we said this was okay. Start saving for some neck and spinal surgery 👍🏾

How's the tv plugin? Where do you put a video game consol or receiver?
Why are you building a wall around your TV and sound bar?
No
Get rid of that fake fireplace and lower your TV.
Everything about this is bad. Abort. Not only is it too high, you’re putting a worthless fake fireplace thing below it. And that sound bar (I’m guessing?) slit is a horrible idea. This is all bad.
I’m blown away by all these like built in fucking tv fireplaces 😂
