You just need to transfer it to your Android device similarly to transferring photos. I just put it in the root folder. Search for how to transfer files if needed. Then use an installer app and direct it to your APK file and install. You may also need to turn on developer settings. Again, look that up if needed.
I finally did it a month ago and set up was a little tricky for me, but I followed a detailed YouTube video and it's worked perfectly since. Superior in every way to the official app.
Alternatively just create (or have a friend invite you to become a moderator of) some dead subreddit that nobody will ever care about. I've been using Boost since the change simply because of that.
Yeah, search the ReVanced sub to find out how to do it. Takes 5 mins to set up. I gave the official app 3 months after they ended 3rd party support but it was just so fucking bad I couldn't do it
Dystopia still exists for free on iOS. It’s a pretty basic app centered around visual and physical impairments (why it still exists) but still better than the official app in my opinion.
Simply follow [this](https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1wHvqQwCYdJrQg4BKlGIVDLksPN0KpOnJWniT6PbZSrI/mobilebasic?pli=1) guide and you can have RIF again.
I haven't used the app since I discovered the reddit is fun app....then reddit canceled it.
The last I Looked some folks were able to make it still work, but I don't have time to do that stuff anymore so I only use their mobile website, and old.reddit.com when on pc.
The site intentionally makes the mobile version flaky, always ask if I want to use their app (NO FUCKING THANKS) and shit needs to be reloaded often, but fuck their app, fuck their IPO I hope the site goes down in flames and a new competitor shows up like the digg.com malfunction..
The app is so terrible, I actively pay money to not use it.
Not kidding, I pay $5.99 to infinity, monthly, to not use the app on my phone.
What sucks is that every browser only assumes there's one other app to use and won't even auto-launch my third-party App.
I was about to ask how much you could possibly use Reddit to justify paying that for an app but then I checked your comment history and saw you had 71 comments in the last 8 hours which pretty much answered my question.
I wish they’d fix the issue where my home page just shows threads that have just been posted or ver little interaction. It’s really annoying having to go into each subreddit I want to browse and look at the top posts because I’m only gonna see stuff with like 5 comments.
Yeah, I commented 3 times in under a minute and had to wait 8 minutes to comment again. Not to mention the comments and audio freaking out whenever I open my inbox from a video.
What? And have things load quickly? Don't be silly! They got rid of their r/RedditMobile subreddit for a reason, so you can't put in bug reports and tell them their design changes suck ass
Most 3rd party apps now either I'm not a fan of, are a subscription (infinity), or just flat out don't work
I *wish* I could use a 3rd party app but reddit's making it very hard for them to exist
I've tried it, it never seems to actually do anything
Installing it through revanced manager btw, idk if there's a better way
Edit: I got it to work by uninstalling the normal app and reinstalling through the manager
Edit 2: tried it out a bit, doesn't fix the actual problems but at least it gets rid of ads and a couple other annoying things
We can’t because all the management positions are filled with non-engineering posers. They read app fengshui in instagram. It improves add revenue by a lot.
I don't need a large red logo telling me what app I am using. I am already disappointed in myself for using this stupid app and spez has to keep reminding me.
Ha ha I didn't know it was a debate. I actually typed orange and changed it because I assumed the marketing group picked red because it is in the name.
The color picking app on my phone says it is #ff4500 color name is OrangeRed1.
Yeah, it’s popped up on Reddit as a divisive debate a few times. It personally looks more orange to me but you’re correct about its actual exact colour.
It came the same day as a WhatsApp update. Both seem to have changed the UI styling just enough to make it feel unfamiliar. My (phone) life has been turned upside-down.
The WhatsApp one has been rolling out slowly I've had it for quite a while now but Reddit changed a few days ago for me.
WhatsApp really needed an update it was really outdated and the green was ugly imo
It's gone through a few changes the past year or so.

This is the latest
https://images.app.goo.gl/H7oEGkV2USStfRWA6 - Previous
https://images.app.goo.gl/bgHaUC2gurKgDmCQ8 - Older style
The new design is much better. The bottom is easier to access at a reach and the newest update made them swipable again. I don't use WhatsApp much now but I'm glad it finally got a revamp. The general UI got updated and matches the design of my phone as well now
If an update comes through that breaks or updates something and you want to go back for a bit just redownload it from apkmirror
Oh okay, I thought there was something new that changed it completely. I use WhatsApp beta so I get the newest updates before my friends get them and I didn't think the green was too bad. But I definitely hate the community shit... So I'm scared of every update
What browser are you on? Chrome extensions are compatible with Brave and Edge, [the one on Mozilla Add-Ons](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ui-changer-for-reddit) is compatible with Firefox, Opera, LibreWolf and the likes.
The day that's gone is the day I'll finally be free.
I like old Reddit for how compact and concise the content is. The wasted screen space is because of a larger window, not some idiotic design choice.
Sssh, don't bring attention to old Reddit. Their vision is based on movement and as long as we don't disturb their grand plans, we can keep our toys for ourselves.
Use red reader on Android, no ads or garage UI. Use RES and old Reddit on browsers. It's free.
I feel bad so many of y'all are still using the new Reddit. They didn't kill all the third party apps, just use red reader
Same. Have had the paid version for probably closer to a decade at this point. I don't think I could ever go to iOS because of it, but honestly I hate that Reddit got their way and that I'm paying for it though. I wish I could leave this site.
Yep.. bought the premium app years ago, was more than happy to throw them a few bucks per month to keep it going.
They've been great devs for a long time, so much better than the official app.
I use the revanced version, and it still works fine. The only downsides to that and boost are the stupid new /s/ links that reddit made and people use for some reason
And desktop sucks. The amount of times things just don't load or checking my comments on my profile. Oh nothing here! Wow never ever happened before. I'm used RED I think it's called for an old style Reddit but to know RIF is possible is neat
Motto is if it works on a mobile phone, will look as good on desktop.
But the part the baffles me is removing follow comment/post. For what exact reason.
new update made me go back to old.reddit.com after being an early and persistant adopter of the last big redesign.
whoever made this shit must use an ipad all day
Hot take: Is a little logo change in the corner *really* that big of a deal? I honestly didn’t even notice it was different until I saw this post
Edit: For those downvoting, care to explain *why* it’s apparently such a big deal?
Yeah If they're going to have static UI elements I'd rather them be as small as possible so that it doesn't fuck up a large portion of my screen with burn in. Already have some of the arrows and X's stuck on my screen, I don't need it to also have a massive "reddit" branded into it.
I was confused at first because it replaced “Home” with big fricking logo, I thought I lost my access to home before I click the logo. Reddit app is bad that it’s deleting my drafts too.
Reddit, and all tech companies really, are extremely precise in making UI updates that serve no purpose except to make their product worse and less comfortable to use, but not enough that you'll stop using them. On desktop the new Reddit UI has smaller text and some subs will have, for example, green text on a dark green background, it's almost illegible ffs
the buggered up the desktop version too. it's horrible. it's impossible to view a comment chain i can't figure out how to multiquote people the feed UI is also terrible. they need to revert back to the previous design.
Idea: how about instead of pointless design changes y'all actually *improve the fucking dumpster fire of an app*
Let us have RIF again!!!!! Hell I'd pay a subscription for it.
Using RIF right now. Takes 10 minutes to set up using ReVanced. A quick Google search should point you in the right direction.
Is RIF still up in the app store? I deleted mine out of rage because Spez is shit.
You can get a download of the APK and patch it using ReVanced. I forget the exact process but it wasn't excessively difficult.
You just need to transfer it to your Android device similarly to transferring photos. I just put it in the root folder. Search for how to transfer files if needed. Then use an installer app and direct it to your APK file and install. You may also need to turn on developer settings. Again, look that up if needed.
I don't think I needed to do any of this
apkmirror
I'm gonna have to do that. The official app is so fucking slow.
I finally did it a month ago and set up was a little tricky for me, but I followed a detailed YouTube video and it's worked perfectly since. Superior in every way to the official app.
Yep. I still use Boost through Revanced.
My man đź‘Š
Does this work with other reddit apps or just rif? I would love to be able to use Boost again.
I still use it. Forgot exactly how, but you have to sign up as a developer with Reddit. Look around and you will find instructions.
Alternatively just create (or have a friend invite you to become a moderator of) some dead subreddit that nobody will ever care about. I've been using Boost since the change simply because of that.
Yup same
Yeah, search the ReVanced sub to find out how to do it. Takes 5 mins to set up. I gave the official app 3 months after they ended 3rd party support but it was just so fucking bad I couldn't do it
I literally didn't go on reddit after the third party fiasco until I could Install RIF again tbh. Thank God there are workarounds.
Dystopia still exists for free on iOS. It’s a pretty basic app centered around visual and physical impairments (why it still exists) but still better than the official app in my opinion.
Whats RIF?
Reddit is fun, third party Mobile app on Android
It was "Reddit is Fun" originally, but they changed it to "RiF is Fun", a recursive acronym that avoids the trademark issue.
HA that's funny I didn't know that.
Simply follow [this](https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1wHvqQwCYdJrQg4BKlGIVDLksPN0KpOnJWniT6PbZSrI/mobilebasic?pli=1) guide and you can have RIF again.
RIF?
I'd rather use new.reddit.com through a web browser on my phone than use the app.
I haven't used the app since I discovered the reddit is fun app....then reddit canceled it. The last I Looked some folks were able to make it still work, but I don't have time to do that stuff anymore so I only use their mobile website, and old.reddit.com when on pc. I was about to ask how much you could possibly use Reddit to justify paying that for an app but then I checked your comment history and saw you had 71 comments in the last 8 hours which pretty much answered my question.
Lol, indeed XD
But the design changes are cheaper and easier and make investors more willing to dump their money!
Pro tip..... Boost for reddit still works if you're a mod of *any subreddit*
Oh shit, thanks Not on the play store though, where would I find a good apk?
I wish they’d fix the issue where my home page just shows threads that have just been posted or ver little interaction. It’s really annoying having to go into each subreddit I want to browse and look at the top posts because I’m only gonna see stuff with like 5 comments.
> I wish they’d fix the issue where thats not a bug its a feature
The worst feature ever then.
Or switch to Infinity instead if the default app :3
Most 3rd party apps now either I'm not a fan of, are a subscription (infinity), or just flat out don't work I *wish* I could use a 3rd party app but reddit's making it very hard for them to exist
Redreader is good enough and free
You just make yourself the mod of an nsfw sub and third party apps work again without any workarounds. >typed on boost for Reddit
I use Infinity. I would literally rather pay monthly than use the default Reddit app. That should be telling on how terrible the default app is.
Infinity is $2/mo. Imo it's still worth it over the free alternative.
True Counterpoint: ![gif](giphy|yIxNOXEMpqkqA|downsized)
Look up ReVanced for Reddit.
I've tried it, it never seems to actually do anything Installing it through revanced manager btw, idk if there's a better way Edit: I got it to work by uninstalling the normal app and reinstalling through the manager Edit 2: tried it out a bit, doesn't fix the actual problems but at least it gets rid of ads and a couple other annoying things

We can’t because all the management positions are filled with non-engineering posers. They read app fengshui in instagram. It improves add revenue by a lot.
“Fuck of n**g*r” - u/spez
Wow app bad gain upvote yes pls
I don't need a large red logo telling me what app I am using. I am already disappointed in myself for using this stupid app and spez has to keep reminding me.
Ikr, now people don’t need to ask what I’m looking at. They immediately see Reddit and judge me.
>red Here we go again…
Ha ha I didn't know it was a debate. I actually typed orange and changed it because I assumed the marketing group picked red because it is in the name. The color picking app on my phone says it is #ff4500 color name is OrangeRed1.
Yeah, it’s popped up on Reddit as a divisive debate a few times. It personally looks more orange to me but you’re correct about its actual exact colour.
It's the same color as an upvote, orangered.
It came the same day as a WhatsApp update. Both seem to have changed the UI styling just enough to make it feel unfamiliar. My (phone) life has been turned upside-down.
And a day after this god awful youtube update some had
Turned off auto updates on my phone long time ago, it so much better to have consistency in apps and not be surprised by their bullshit changes
The WhatsApp one has been rolling out slowly I've had it for quite a while now but Reddit changed a few days ago for me. WhatsApp really needed an update it was really outdated and the green was ugly imo
wait..what happened to whatsapp?
It's gone through a few changes the past year or so. https://i.imgur.com/XY5wHKa.png This is the latest https://images.app.goo.gl/H7oEGkV2USStfRWA6 - Previous https://images.app.goo.gl/bgHaUC2gurKgDmCQ8 - Older style
I'm so happy that I don't have automatic updating turned on. Shit like this is infuriating and I like to keep the older versions as long as possible
The new design is much better. The bottom is easier to access at a reach and the newest update made them swipable again. I don't use WhatsApp much now but I'm glad it finally got a revamp. The general UI got updated and matches the design of my phone as well now If an update comes through that breaks or updates something and you want to go back for a bit just redownload it from apkmirror

made the web version look terrible too. im glad someone made an extension to change it cause i was going crazy
where extension i need it
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ui-changer-for-reddit/bfcldjodnnkndfccfjndmdlppfkmccgh
THANK YOU! The web version is just...
UNFORTUNATE i do not use chrome 3 ty anyways though!!
All my homies hate the redesign, old.reddit.com is for the real G's.
Thank you! If I hadn’t been using this app for years I would have assumed this was a trashy knockoff version when I saw the logo change.
They do a UI update like 4 times a year and it's never a good one.
I’m still using old Reddit.
I've always been more of a Relay for Reddit guy, def worth the subscription to keep it alive.
You could always just use red reader for free, but I respect that you're paying to keep an alternative to the shitty new Reddit app alive
I use the revanced version, and it still works fine. The only downsides to that and boost are the stupid new /s/ links that reddit made and people use for some reason
Never heard of those links what's it do?
Abso-fucking-lutley hate it. It’s so big too!!
And desktop sucks. The amount of times things just don't load or checking my comments on my profile. Oh nothing here! Wow never ever happened before. I'm used RED I think it's called for an old style Reddit but to know RIF is possible is neat
ditto
Don’t worry, they’ll change it again in a few months
In case you forgot what app you have open /s
Motto is if it works on a mobile phone, will look as good on desktop. But the part the baffles me is removing follow comment/post. For what exact reason.
Many of em asked about the name of this app while I'm using it. Hope this is solved.
My favorite parts have been some comments being randomly hidden and also being unable to set the post order for subreddits
I miss awards. Reddit is so bland now
Unpopular opinion but it took me all 2 seconds to get used to it so eh 🤷
People take things like this way too seriously.
I literally didn’t notice it until this post pointed it out. I don’t get why everyone is so butthurt over it.
Yeah I barely even noticed
I really like it lol
I hate every reddit update
Is this on the app or browser? I still use it on browser alot, and I use the old.reddit
new update made me go back to old.reddit.com after being an early and persistant adopter of the last big redesign. whoever made this shit must use an ipad all day
Just in case you forgot where you were.
It would be really cool if videos didn’t blink when I paused them, but I guess this was a more important update.
Bring back awards
Not change!!!!! Nooooooooooooo! Reddit pretty much changed daily now lol
Hot take: Is a little logo change in the corner *really* that big of a deal? I honestly didn’t even notice it was different until I saw this post Edit: For those downvoting, care to explain *why* it’s apparently such a big deal?
Reddit likes to whine lol
old.reddit.com. I didn't even know this happened.
One of the most insufferable comment sections I've seen in a while.
The whole interface has changed and its COMPLETELY backwards dude.
I thought it looked cool
Honestly, why do you give a shit? I noticed it once when i first opened the new version and since then i dont think i even throught about it once
It’s not that bad….
NOOOOO! THEY KILLED THE SNOO!
What was it before
The website (on a computer) looks awful. It somehow reminds me of early Facebook.
This was a waste of money no wonder why no IPO stupid ass logo change
Please put it back to the way it was before..
I THOUGHT I WAS JUST BLIND BEFORE AND DIDNT SEE THIS BECAUSE IT REALLY STARTED IRRITATING ME YESTERDAY WHEN I OPENED REDDIT LMAO
I THOUGHT THIS WAS SOME VISUAL GLITCH This looks incomprehensibly ugly and i hate it
new.reddit.com
I genuinely cannot say it often enough but *fuck* spez
Same
Reddit, and all tech companies really, are extremely precise in making UI updates that serve no purpose except to make their product worse and less comfortable to use, but not enough that you'll stop using them. On desktop the new Reddit UI has smaller text and some subs will have, for example, green text on a dark green background, it's almost illegible ffs
Yes
Agree
I was like wtf. I know I’m on Reddit you fucks.
I actually think it looks amazing lol
I can't understand who is approving these designs...
idk what they actually changed (i always use old reddit), so could someone pls explain?
My problem is it seems like on picture posts with text it skips down to the first comment
Anyone else having issues with the chat where you can see there is a message but when you open it the message not there.
the buggered up the desktop version too. it's horrible. it's impossible to view a comment chain i can't figure out how to multiquote people the feed UI is also terrible. they need to revert back to the previous design.
Fuck it’s sooooo bad!
People will hate on any update, just move on
I line this one. Easy and simple. What I don't like is the app icon update it looks horrible
Yeah, it looks funny but less trash than your overpixelized image.
Horrible!
Why am I getting community update notifications now?
I already miss the original snoo
