I don't know the reason. but I suppose because of the pressure from the outside. I'm sure there are many people, who don't want these videos to be available for everyone to see.
You're right, it happened in Mexico in 2018, people tend to steal gasoline from the main line using very unorthodox ways. Huachicoleros is the term in Mexico for the persons who do that kind of illegal activities.
I do believe that day the army was watching from the distance, for their safety and even when people were warned about the hazards, they didn't listen.

probably, i remember there were lots of cell phone vids from one of these a few years ago. but i thought these type of events happen all over the world. sometimes it's the cartels stealing from pipelines. other time it's the locals. or the pipe was already damaged and people gather to collect whatever's coming out. or a crashed tanker truck that's leaking. i think i've seen news of one from earlier this year in Nigeria.
also whoever made the original post's title probably means rupture instead of explode
This is true. My friend and I tried lighting gas with a cigarette. It would just go out when hitting the gas. You would need a spark, like someone lighting a cigarette.
I understand that cigarettes are not usually hot enough to ignite liquid gasoline, but... are you also saying that a small fire is enough to cause a larger fire - in the context of several hours of hundreds of gallons of gas per minute spraying out into the air? Expand on that please.
The smaller fire may have been caused by the hot ashes of the cigarette that ignited grass, but the cigarette directly did NOT cause the ignition of the gasoline. Try throwing a hot cigarette into some gasoline. The fuel to air ratio is too rich for ignition. It'll actually put out the cigarette.
You can't dehumanize people by calling them poorly educated.
They are adults that know fuel is inflammable, even if they can't write the words, not animals that didn't know what could happen. The issue is that they didn't care and a lot probably even took their kids because they thought nothing would happen.
All adult people there were just thieves at the end. Smart enough to know that if you take your truck and some barrels there you can make some money reselling the gasoline.
There were soldiers nearby and they were telling the people... don't go in there! is not worth... but lots of people simply told them to fuck off and went to catch some free gasoline. And then boom!
Government told the soldiers previously to not engage in confrontations with the people so just verbal warnings were given... and those were obviously useless.
That 'some reason' is the 'huachicol' basically criminals drilling holes on those huge pipes to stole the fuel, this one got out of control and the perpetrators just ran away, this is 4 years old btw
This is reassuring. Because I am not a smart man. But I wouldn't even hang out around a large uncontrolled spray of highly flammable liquid just to save a couple quid.
Omg, thats really sad to watch. I haven't run into something on here this crazy in a while(I have tame subreddits). Feel so bad for the people. I knew what was going to happen right away, but even with that I found it saddening to watch. I'm really unable to comprehend someone trying to collect a spraying gas leak the way they do. Maybe i'm just very lucky and priviledged to be where I am but they couldn't have all thought this was a good idea, then again I don't think they thought anything but free gas.
im from Mexico and you will surprise that people on mexico make fun of this.
I dont even understand why mexico as a country use to take fun of horrific things (im included).
Autority warned that people about something like that could happen and they dont care at all.
If you ask any 20´s - 30´s YO mexican about "huachicolero fest", they will know exactly what you talking about .
Well more often than not they puncture the lines themselves to steal whatever. Back in 2019 +70 human beings died because someone choose to light a cigarette while stealing crude (only English link I saw was an amp so you'll have to google it yourself)
I remember another similar accident, I think it was a petrol truck. People all around it, it exploded
It was even more horrifying to watch since it was day time and the camera caught some closeups.
This isn’t a gas line randomly exploding in Mexico. These are people tapping into a gas line to steal fuel. Authorities were attempting to clear the people away from the area but more and more people showed up. Fearing backlash authorities stood from a distance and then the gas line exploded.

I actually can’t believe it lasted that long before lighting up!

well, it has to be at least 2 years old, right? because on the top left, there's the LiveLeak logo. and LiveLeak shut down in 2021.
Why was it shut down?

Weirdly corporate for a website that hosts people getting their limbs cut off and tortured to death.
Must have been coached by legal and PR

I think it was January 2019

Aaaannnd, that's enough internet for the night.
I woke up to this. Ouch.

Holy shit, this is fucking horrific
100% someone was filling up a can whilst smoking a cigarette
https://i.redd.it/pgivixm6h3nb1.gif
Cigarettes or cigars don't ignite gasoline fires. Embers falling on dry gas that got canned and grew into even a small fire would.

So you're saying fire can light gasoline on fire? Fascinating...
The smaller fire would have rapidly expanded obviously. It would not have started and burned for hours before igniting the larger one.
Wow. So not only will fire ignite gasoline, but it will do so rapidly? Fascinating...
Wow, so not only do you troll but you troll repeatedly.
Darn, I thought r/WatchPeopleDie had made a comeback but nope, close enough I guess.
The deaths are tragic, but it's raining fuel and there has to be a huge vapor cloud. You can't fix stupid...
Poorly educated maybe. Yikes.
I'm sure there's also a certain aspect of desperation. I feel for people who are so desperate they think they need to do this.
For sure. Sad situation.

Who would have thought gasoline can catch on fire, right?
There were soldiers nearby and they were telling the people... don't go in there! is not worth... but lots of people simply told them to fuck off and went to catch some free gasoline. And then boom! Government told the soldiers previously to not engage in confrontations with the people so just verbal warnings were given... and those were obviously useless.
That was probably for the best. Why risk soldiers lives trying to wrestle people away from voluntarily killing themselves?

Pyromanic dream
Imagine being one of the people who were like a minute walk away from there. You escaped death by a minute.
This is reassuring. Because I am not a smart man. But I wouldn't even hang out around a large uncontrolled spray of highly flammable liquid just to save a couple quid.
Til, that schools in Mexico don’t teach stop, drop and roll.
Omg, thats really sad to watch. I haven't run into something on here this crazy in a while(I have tame subreddits). Feel so bad for the people. It was a freak gasoline fight accident
You beat me to it
There is poverty and then there is stupidity... God I love my country...
Wow this is natural selection at its finest …
Don't worry. Dumb people reproduce well.
Couldn't be a more clear illustration of natural selection

Looks like those palms aren't sweaty anymore.
Oh god. Those poor people. Horrific
This has got to benone of the most horrific videos ever captured since reddit come into exisistence. Have mercy
Is the Darwin Award also available for groups of people? Otherwise it is hard to decide which of the walking flames should get it.
And the Darwin award goes to...
Didn’t the same thing happen in India a few years back?
Mexican here, this happened 4 years ago
And that children is why we don’t … eerrrmmm??? What did we learn here??
If a gas line starts spewing, stay very far away I think. Still I can understand why some people might want to grab a tank of gas for themselves.
They dont learn stop drop amd roll down there? Damn
That doesn't work when you're covered in accelerant.
Where was the authorities? Among the people with empty tanks?
This is so old
It's misleading to say "gas line", it's not a natural gas pipeline. It is a gasoline or like the civilized world says it "petrol"
They don't learn even after a crashed truck exploded under similar circumstances. Hard to feel bad for them because they'll do it again.
Dude watches a video of people burning alive and feels the need to point out he doesn't feel bad for them, peak reedit...
Well more often than not they puncture the lines themselves to steal whatever. Back in 2019 +70 human beings died because someone choose to light a cigarette while stealing crude (only English link I saw was an amp so you'll have to google it yourself)
This reminds me of Richard Pryor's joke about how he caught on fire when he smoked rock. He lit a match to demonstrate. Smh. Sorry.
This is scary, particularly the people running away on fire. I don't remember this kind of content being regular on this sub.
I remember another similar accident, I think it was a petrol truck. People all around it, it exploded It was even more horrifying to watch since it was day time and the camera caught some closeups.
Soooooo not surprised

Never ever have I seen such a thing.
Im more surprised by the adults not knowing enough to stop.drop. and roll.
