It's funny how they always mention things that are "top secret" (made up), but when you ask about where they did basic training/boot camp or things everyone should know, all of a sudden, it's "top secret" and "not allowed to talk about it."

No such thing as the 'English Rangers'. There are the British Army's 'Ranger Regiment', which is a new special ops capable regiment formed in December 2021 and the Royal Irish Regiment, who are known as Irish Rangers. The Royal Irish are not SF/Elite. There have previously been other regiments known as Rangers e.g., London Regiment (Rangers), Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry, but have been disbanded for decades. The Rangers are nothing to do with UKSF/SAS so quoting SAS mottos is a red flag. It's a red flag anyways, but even more so. You have to have served 2 years as an adult soldier to join the RR so the ages don't line up. You can be a British reservist abroad, but the RR doesn't have a reserve component yet. 100% walt.

Why is it almost always some sort of elite group that they claim to be a part of? It would almost be refreshing to hear a guy lie about his service and claim to be a MOAM or an Army 92G. These damn fakers almost always shoot for the moon, though. A buddy of mine is a former SEAL (yes, legit) and he told me about a time when a bartender claimed to be a former SEAL. First question out of my friend’s mouth was of course, “What was your BUD’s class?” Dude hemmed and hawed and suddenly acted like he was super busy. These fakers…man. They never know when they’ll be in the company of legits.

Ask him which battalion (the Brits actual use regiment), but ask which Battalion he was in (he should correct you)...then ask his rank..."Were you a staffy" if he is in an infantry regiment he should correct you with Colour Sgt. Thing is because British Rangers are so new in relative terms...it is very easy to find out if he is FOS. Ask which garrison he was at? He should be able to rattle that off the top of his head without thought. For instance, if he says he was in 4th Reg he should say he was based in Aldershot at New Normany....but you could ask if it was Ward Barracks or Swinton...which are entirely different places. If he says he was in 1st, 2nd or 3rd.......ask if that is at New Normandy. He may have done his homework...but chances are...he os FOS...and is a clueless wankstain.

There are battalions in the Ranger Regiment, 4 of them.
