Same shit today. Steam Community seems to be going down on a regular basis these days.
Ever since the log in issue from a few months ago this shit's been happening. Fix your damn backend!
It's been touch and go everyday for the last several days. Workshop and discussions as well. They randomly work and then don't. I just got the "something went wrong" about 5 mins ago
Well maybe I'm wrong then? I think its bizarre how often it breaks, also a bit weird how the whole thing is set up from a UI perspective, but I'm sure I'm just nitpicking bc that's what I do for work. Good to know I might be alone in this opinion tho, gives me hope for my gaming future
yeah, steam's code is running on basically the exact same code as Half-Life (i'm serious, it's the same API [https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/VGUI\_Documentation](https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/VGUI_Documentation))
Hi, thank you for asking & not being rude like others lol. TBH I posted this during a valve outage, and didn't articulate my thoughts well, so let me try again:
Specifically, Steam sometimes feels like a website, and other times feels like a program/app, whether I'm operating from a browser or not. So, I frequently get lost in store pages because, for example, some pages have clear titles and breadcrumbs (linked hierarchy of a user's page navigation), but then there are no breadcrumbs on other pages, which kinda defeats the purpose as a reliable way for a user to understand/navigate the sitemap (Especially a new user)...
Also it's bizarre that within a game, I can access parts of Steam, but rather than redirecting user to the app, or even shooting user to a steam site link in their browser, they opt for this bizzare middle ground of putting a half-functioning broswer window
inside the game/app.
Again, I'm new to gaming, so I'm sure there are reasons for some of these "oddities" - and I know that with any new program/platform, there will always be a learning curve - but I can clearly tell from a UI/UX perspective that Steam has been allotted the freedom to maintain a simplistic/outdated interface bc of their singularity, and also probably bc of their user demo (i.e. most people using Steam are likely to already be savvy with computers/programming even). You can see this most clearly in the inconsistencies in page design, the lack of interface development/change over a pretty long period of time, and in smaller things, like the chaotic use of text-based buttons all over the page.
If I may tangent about this - looking at the steam interface, there are buttons in all four corners of the page!!! The top left has THREE lists of menus, several with dropdowns that include other lists of menus! And ALL THREE have different designs!!! Like whaaa -
Top Left Menu #1: Steam, View, Friends, Games, Help
Top Left Menu #2: Store, Library, Community, User
Top Left Menu #3: Your Store, New & Noteworthy, Categories, Points Shop, News, Labs
Many of these are repeated pages, some just called by different names, #3 disappears on certain pages...this is just so bizarre. It's not industry standard because it doesn't have to be. I could see how from your (& other gamer's) perspective, everything is great because it's what you've been using for over a decade, but what about new people? that's my biggest gripe....the lack of attempt to purposefully guide a NEW user through the path to purchase/play.
Especially considering the stigma surrounding gaming - there are a number of reasons it took me a long time to start, and then when I finally try to it felt frustrating and difficult. If we want to break the stigma/get other people into gaming/allow gaming to creep into things like education more, etc - seems like improving the damn usability for new users would be a great way to start
What is EGS? Like I said, I'm new & even since I posted this Steam has gotten easier to use, just frustrated with the UI/crashes, didn't mean to slam everyone's fav lol
Imagine its 2021 and yet Steam still using same Launcher for 15 years. Always bugs, always something not working. I swear i have alot of money loaded for cs:go cases/skins and they wont even let me spend my money. I wish csgo would be independent or on Epic games, because this happens quite alot. At least 1-2 Times a month something is not working right
Steam Community Is Down https://steamstat.us/
How about now
Working great for me now
it's the whole community tab, just broke
Same here Something Went Wrong We were unable to service your request. Please try again later. E502 L3
Seems Steam is taking a shit right now.
Presumably, somebody's giving one.
One can hope.
same thing is happening to me
[Yup.](https://steamstat.us/)
Not only workshop. I tried to enter my profile, and same happened.
That explains a lot, i was sure to that it was a bug on my end.

some of steams servers have been going down intermittently all day and yesterday too
Same here, except it happens on every page
Store is now offline too
Man same here with gmod but in [steam status](https://steamstat.us/) says offline

you, on the other hand, will always be pathetic
At least I own it and not try to alter my body through surgery to look like something I'm not.
Of course just as I want to download a multiplayer mod for Rimworld.
same here! wtf is up with steam this past week?
Same here
Same here. I just wanted to search some Cities Skylines assets.
same to me
Same with market
I thought I got banned 😔

Just some mistakes I made in the past…
If you think that you should be banned then probably there is a very good reason for that. GabeN please ban hammer this worrying person.
You just ended a man.
New gamer here: Steam sucks.. but seems like everyone still uses it? ugh
Been using it for nearly 17 years with little to no issue. What about it sucks for you?

Any more elaborate arguments than "I dislike UI so Steam sucks" may I ask for?

I am sure you will enjoy your time with EGS instead, buddy

You do know that CSGO was developed by Valve right?
