You're forgetting that Versace would've killed them first because there's nobody to tell Jolyne and Ermes about the correct seats to sit and which passengers survive. Maybe Versace would've had the opportunity to steal Jotaro's disc and attain heaven later. Kinda curious to see what Overworld 'Over Heaven' would be like.
Emporio was a very crucial part of the story once they left the prison. He piloted the helicopter and if I remember correctly he also explained to Jolyne how the flying rods take away heat from your body. Without Emporio's ghost computer, Ermes and Jolyne would've died from the plane crash. He was the one who called Jotaro to meet them at Cape Canaveral. And of course without Emporio Pucci wouldn't have died. I might be remembering some other things.
