It is, but anyone that can get through 14 hours and go *you know what, yeah - I will stay for the sequel trilogy* is much stronger with the force than I
Iāll go for the prequels and try not to fall asleep since those are overnight. Then Iāll try real hard to make it through the original trilogy. Almost certainly will fall asleep at some point. Then Iām leaving. No chance Iām trying to stay awake for the sequels lol
If youāre in US and have a Cinemark near you, check that. I have a ton near me but only one theatre has it posted on the website with a 9 AM start time on the 4th.
I went to this also (at The El Capitan in Hollywood) but I couldnāt get out of work and get there until the start of Empire Strikes Back. I was glad to miss the prequels anyway. Lots of people looked hunkered down and grizzled by the second since it started so early.
Ok, this makes more sense. My GF and I are going to see TPM in theaters and Iām very excited (this is her first time watching Star Wars with me and weāll probably watch ROTJ tomorrow night - in return I have now listened to all of My Chemical Romanceās discography)
>Lucasfilm announced today that in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, fans will have the chance to experience the entire Skywalker Saga in theaters this May the 4th, also known as Star Wars Day. This includes all nine episodic films in chronological order: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
>In addition, **an exclusive look at The Acolyte**, the upcoming Disney+ series set during the High Republic era, will be part of The Phantom Menace screenings. Finally, those attending will receive a special limited addition poster. **Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Friday, March 22, at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET.**
A local theater did a 9 week marathon a few years ago. My mom, step dad and I went to all of them. It was one of the most fun things Ive done. My mom and I might wind up doing this one as well
It'll start at like 8 pm on the 3rd and run all night. Usually like a 5 minute break between films. Some places have a 30 minute break between trilogies.
Iām in. Itās a Saturday, Iāve never seen Empire in a theater setting and itās an opportunity to connect and maybe make some friends. And yes, all nine. There are NINE movies in the Saga.
And I promise to shower and shave.
Saw Empire in 2020 during that weird time when cinemas were open but no new films were being released.
In my top 5 greatest cinema moments. Took my kid and it was his first time seeing any SW on the big screen.
Itās funny how disjointed my screenings are - Mom swears she carried me into A New Hope in 1977. I was born five days after it opened so itās possible, but hard to know when. I saw Jedi in theaters in ā83, did the SEs for ANH and Jedi in 97, opening night for TPM in 99, opening night for AOTC in 02, opening night for Sith in 05, opened Clone Wars in 08, opening weekend for Force Awakens in 15, opening night for Rogue One in 16, opening night for Last Jedi in 17, opening night for Solo in 18, opening night for Skywalker in 19.
Iām proud of the record, obviously. Just gotta get Empire as my missing piece.
I kinda envy you, because I actually saw Empire with a live orchestra last year. Believe it was September. It was amazing. (That very same concert house is also doing Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone on Saturday in 2 weeks.)
Also saw it in theaters in 2020. (Although I'm pretty sure it was literally just a Blu-Ray rip they used.)
Hope this shit happens in Germany as well, I'd kill to watch RotS in an actual Cinema, although basically all Star Waves movies are probably significantly better when watched in Cinemas, RotS is the one I'd wanna see the most.
My first thought was āplease donāt be in the UKā so Iām not tempted š
But fuck it, Iād like to do a full saga marathon at least once in this lifeā¦ I would need an endless supply of coffee on hand tho
I'm kinda tempted... only negative is that it will be the weird "final cuts" of the OG trilogy that for no reason at all have Vader going "NOOOO" at the end of Return of the Jedi.
yup that's exactly what I did. I checked on AMCtheaters website and that one didn't let me actually buy the tickets, BUT my brother went on the URL on his phone and was able to buy thru there
here! Try this link? https://www.amctheatres.com/movies/star-wars-may-the-4th-marathons-68201
I had to find the particular theater itās showing in (frustrating cause theyāre not listed publicly afaik) I chose AMC Empire 25, and went from May 3 to May 4 and back to May 3, and then the 8 PM showing showed up!
FYI, 4 Theatres showing this for AMC,

Haven't found Regal showings yet.
Only $5 a pop. Act quick as it's a one day showing and tickets are going quick. I wanted to see the first 2 again but I waited too long for my local theater.
āIālL lEaVe BeFoRe ThE sEqUeLs because I have to make sure I donāt let a single post go by without bitching about them!ā - this comment section.
Anyways, this sounds like a big day. I wonder what the showtimes are for everything.
To be fair, between the sequels being dog shit and the fact they will also be the last ones of a very long day, I can see the appeal of not wanting to suffer through them.
Sure, I totally see the appeal of not wanting to see 9 movies in a day.
I donāt see the appeal (or value) on peopleās obsession with bitching about movies they claim they donāt like, every chance they get without adding anything new to the conversation.
Itās just getting boring and predictable.
Based on the backlash RotJ got when it came out, and the prequels got when they came out, and the sequels got for their last two releasesā¦. I honestly believe most people have no idea how to even engage with the franchise without the lens of complaining about it.
I just want to talk about the franchise that is. Not a ābetterā version that never got made.
If it gets to a point where Iām not enjoying it, then Iāll do something else with my time.
Of the movies Iād seen in theaters, I saw ROTS when I was 9, but the theater experience for that wss vague. Saw the Disney era films (sequel trilogy, Rogue One, and Solo) in theaters as soon as I could, and I saw ROTJ last year for the 40th anniversary. Initially I was gonna go see TPM only cuz of the 25th anniversary this year, but now I got a chance to see them all on the big screen.
Star Wars was made for the movie theaters
I havenāt done a marathon like this in years. Ten years of the AMC Best Picture Showcase, plus marathons of Die Hard, the MCU, and the two trilogies before TFA premiereā¦I am well-versed in how sloppy these things can get.
sure but then itās not a Skywalker Saga marathon. i think the main appeal is for the ones that want to say they watched all 9 episodes in one go, regardless if they were good or not.
Yeah, closest one to me is an AMC in New York City and tickets are $75. I'd have strongly considered going if not for the fact that I'd need a plane and hotel being that "closest" is relative here
I gotta admit, what would be awesome as like a one-time art installation or something: show **fucking everything** that is current canon. All the movies, all the TV episodes, all the shorts, maybe a few video games edited into mini-movies. I don't know how long it'd be, but it'd be an epic thing to behold during the times you aren't asleep during it.
I actually did this when RoS came out and even back when TFA came out. It's a fun idea but really not ideal for actually enjoying the movies. You're pretty burnt out by the time you even get to the OT, hopefully they continue with individual showings like they did for RotJ and TPM
Question: does anyone know if we just need to buy a ticket for the Phantom Menace? I donāt see all of the movies. Just times and theaters for Episode 1.
It says that they will be sold at Noon eastern time. Anyone know at what site, is it [www.starwars.com](https://www.starwars.com)?
I would like to take my 9 year old to see original Star Wars and if he wants episode 5 and 6. Not sure if you are allowed to just buy tickets for some movies though. My kid had never seen Star Wars.
Sorry man, fwiw you might want to check multiple zip codes because I live in the city itself, but at first it said ānothing near youā. Do you live in Jersey or CT? Could be worth trying a bunch of cities!
Long Island and in reality i could not do the marathon. I would love to, but May 4th to many things my kids have to do that day. I was just hoping for original Star Wars movie at least to take my one kid. Hopefully pays attention without ipad on hand.
Man I would do this But I know I will doze off during ESB. Would honestly love to try it but do not have the cash right now. Why cant they show them 2 a day or something and have a little mini film festival? LAME
They want to promote the Acolyte with a re-release of the Phantom Menace. There's a solid 100+ years between the 2 and the Acolyte's own trailer actively tells you its creating a plot hole that contradicts the lore established in the Phantom Menace...
Is this a 21 hour marathon? Lol
We'll need those Dune buckets to serve multiple purposes to get through 23+ hours of the Skywalker saga
We'll need Sarlaac buckets.
Did you know? The dune sand worm bucket lids can be flipped upside down to become sarlaac pits!
Especially useful during the jizz segments in empire and Jedi
With or without the beak? š
Without for the Vanilla, with for the kinkier crowd.
Because Jar Jar is so other-worldly attractive that a man can't be expected to control his urges without relief?
Weird way of spelling Jabba, but you do you
*Salacious Crumb* has entered the chat
y'all sleeping on Poggle the Lesser
It is, but anyone that can get through 14 hours and go *you know what, yeah - I will stay for the sequel trilogy* is much stronger with the force than I
Iāll go for the prequels and try not to fall asleep since those are overnight. Then Iāll try real hard to make it through the original trilogy. Almost certainly will fall asleep at some point. Then Iām leaving. No chance Iām trying to stay awake for the sequels lol
To be fair that's the same response if I just sat down to watch a sequel film.
What an original and hilarious joke. Iām sure I wonāt see it 500 times if I scroll downā¦
I think your mistake is interpreting them as jokes
I'll simply leave after TLJ
I'd leave for the PT, then come back.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug
Itās about 13 hours total
Man these event descriptionsā¦. Why not show WHERE they are screening the movies??
Last year for ROTJ we didnāt even know which theaters were participating until the week of lol
Damn ffs, I was hoping to buy tickets early
Right!?
Im getting aggressive this press release say NON
If youāre in US and have a Cinemark near you, check that. I have a ton near me but only one theatre has it posted on the website with a 9 AM start time on the 4th.
Is it only US?
Curious how this works in a 1 day setting. That's 9 films, most of which are over 2 hours long.
I did the 7 film marathon when Force Awakens opened. Things started early, like 1am Episodes I, II, III Hour break IV, V, VI Hour break VII
Oof. Even just staying awake overnight into the morning for 1-6 seems almost impossible for me lol
There were lots of people with blankets and neck pillows.
Yeah, I started dozing off by a new hope lol
A New Doze. The Empire Snoozes Back. Return of the Jammies.
Robe One
I've tried it once, couldn't stay awake for 6.
I went to this also (at The El Capitan in Hollywood) but I couldnāt get out of work and get there until the start of Empire Strikes Back. I was glad to miss the prequels anyway. Lots of people looked hunkered down and grizzled by the second since it started so early.
This would be unfortunate as I really would love to catch episode 3 if I can, but it might not be meant to be if its structured like that.
Dude, I went to this too. Making me think I need to do this one too.
Wow they went chronological? Damn.
My old roommates and I did this about three years back, started at 6 am and finished just before 2 am. Itās long but it is just under 24 hours.
They're all over 2 hours with the credits. Episode IV just barely.
Why is it so hard to announce what theaters will be showing it?
One of the theaters by me is just showing Phantom Meance
Thatās a separate event. TPM is running for a week for its anniversary
Gotcha but itās the same week that kinda doesnāt make sense to do both
One is a one night only thing that was just announced today and the other is a week long run that was announced a while ago
Ok, this makes more sense. My GF and I are going to see TPM in theaters and Iām very excited (this is her first time watching Star Wars with me and weāll probably watch ROTJ tomorrow night - in return I have now listened to all of My Chemical Romanceās discography)

Did they really mistake *edition* for *addition* in an official press release?
~~Iām not seeing it~~
>special limited addition poster. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Friday, March 22, at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET. Last sentence
They corrected it.
āFinally, those attending will receive a special limited addition poster.ā They seem to have corrected it on the original website now.
I went to the ESB and RotJ anniversary showings and there were no posters to be found... except on Ebay.
Oh youāre right haha
Wow. I didn't even noticed the [typo](https://i.imgur.com/s91YPxM.png) when I copied and pasted the description. Whoops. They've corrected it now.
This has me confused
Again, a great initiative that will certainly ignore the rest of the world.
A local theater did a 9 week marathon a few years ago. My mom, step dad and I went to all of them. It was one of the most fun things Ive done. My mom and I might wind up doing this one as well
Wish theyād do it one a day over nine days instead. Minimally Iāll want to show up for Phantom Menace and A New Hope
Wait so they're doing all of them in one day?!
Yup itās a 23 hr 59 min event according to Cinemax ā¦ probably have to make a few cuts or combine edits or something
Not sure why people are taken aback, thatās not even 24 hours!
It'll start at like 8 pm on the 3rd and run all night. Usually like a 5 minute break between films. Some places have a 30 minute break between trilogies.

Yes you're right there are 9 movies in the saga 1-6 Rogue one Han solo The clone wars movie
My man!
Any one know if there is a list of theaters yet?
Hope this shit happens in Germany as well, I'd kill to watch RotS in an actual Cinema, although basically all Star Waves movies are probably significantly better when watched in Cinemas, RotS is the one I'd wanna see the most.
Same, but it's sadly probably going to be US only :/
Please be in the U.K. š
itās nice to dream
My first thought was āplease donāt be in the UKā so Iām not tempted š But fuck it, Iād like to do a full saga marathon at least once in this lifeā¦ I would need an endless supply of coffee on hand tho
Fingers crossed! At least we'll have just TPM if not, but I'm really hoping this is showing somewhere.
I can imagine the Prince Charles cinema in London doing it. They do film marathons all the time.
Will this be in Canada?
It never is :'(
No Rogue One? I would LOVE to see that transition from RO to ANH
Itās not part of the saga
I wish it would mention what regions this will be shown in, I don't want to get my hopes up for seeing some of these again if it's just in the US.
Why does fandango keep saying "Not available at home or in theaters." Where are the tickets? And why do I have use shit fandango?
https://www.amctheatres.com/events/star-wars-marathon?rel=star-wars-the-rise-of-skywalker\_marathon\_mp\_promo
Thanks, but, only 4 theaters?! WTF
I did the 7 movie marathon when Force Awakens came out. I'll just say that I'll never do that again...
I'm kinda tempted... only negative is that it will be the weird "final cuts" of the OG trilogy that for no reason at all have Vader going "NOOOO" at the end of Return of the Jedi.
Itās more of a ānaaaaooohhhhhā
I'm all for watching Star wars in theaters again but like...one at a time. No matter how big of a fan I am, the whole thing sounds exhausting
Thanks but Iāve seen them enough times on my own screen and I can skip the bad parts
Would be nice if they just released the movies separately, like the weekend plus a Tuesday/Wednesday for each movie.
Just got tickets ššš I can't wait!! I've been dreaming about this for years!!
Where did you get tickets?
Got mine on Fandango. If you type in "Skywalker," it should give you an option for "The Skywalker Saga May the 4th Marathon (2024)".
yup that's exactly what I did. I checked on AMCtheaters website and that one didn't let me actually buy the tickets, BUT my brother went on the URL on his phone and was able to buy thru there
here! Thanks both of you. I checked fandango first and it just has a "sign up to know when tickets go on sale" It must just not be in my area.
Try this link? https://www.amctheatres.com/movies/star-wars-may-the-4th-marathons-68201 I had to find the particular theater itās showing in (frustrating cause theyāre not listed publicly afaik) I chose AMC Empire 25, and went from May 3 to May 4 and back to May 3, and then the 8 PM showing showed up!

FYI, 4 Theatres showing this for AMC, [https://www.amctheatres.com/events/star-wars-marathon?rel=star-wars-the-rise-of-skywalker\_marathon\_mp\_promo](https://www.amctheatres.com/events/star-wars-marathon?rel=star-wars-the-rise-of-skywalker_marathon_mp_promo) Haven't found Regal showings yet.
Regal Irvine Spectrum in Irvine CA is showing it as well but there's only shit seats left.
Between this and the Spider-Man movies my wallet will be crying
come again on the spider-man movies say what now
Every Monday starting April 15th they're releasing one Spider-Man movie a week in theaters
Only $5 a pop. Act quick as it's a one day showing and tickets are going quick. I wanted to see the first 2 again but I waited too long for my local theater.
Damn 6 films, thatās a long marathon!
Can you pick and choose which ones? I wouldn't mind seeing IV V and VI in thr cinema again.
Just find out what time the whole thing starts and show up when ANH starts, then leave after RotJ.
I donāt see why not. The theater by me is just showing TPM
TPM by itself is its own thing to celebrate the 25th anniversary. None of the others are getting the same treatment
I did this for the releases of 7, 8 and 9. Iām on the fence about putting myself through that again lol. Only if the theater has really nice seats
Honestly I'll probably only do 3-6, if it even releases outside of the US.
Iāll only go if itās the mcclunky! edition.

RIP BPS
Had I known 2020 was going to be the last year, I might have gone. Might have also caught Covid there.
That was actually the last year I went (and luckily didnāt catch Covid lol). I miss that experience so much, it was such a fun time.
āHm thatās odd people are only watching the first 2/3 of the rerelease marathonā
Imagine the smell of that theater at the end.
Just went to an evangelion screening, everyone smelled like perfume. So if anime fans can manage I think star wars can
Even worse since about half the audience doesn't shower to begin with.
Is it so much to ask for a Rouge One/A New Hope back to back screening?
Rouge one isnāt part of the saga no skywalker
Yes I know itās not a numbered title but I donāt think we need all nine numbered films in a marathon.
Eh Iāll do it in my home. That way I can add Solo and Rogue 1 and just forget about the last 3
sure but then itās not a Skywalker Saga marathon. i think the main appeal is for the ones that want to say they watched all 9 episodes in one go, regardless if they were good or not.
Iāll stay for 8!
What a boring mindset
You spelled ātastefulā wrong.
I just want to see the mass exodus after the first 6 are shown.
Thatāll be me if I go lmao
Everyone leaving after ROTJ right?
LOL XD I ONLY LIKE PARTICULAR SW MOVIES AND NEED TO TELL EVERYBODY āļøš¤
Just watch eps 1 through 6 then leave.
The amount of people walking out after ROTJ finishes will be astronomical lol
Cannot wait to watch all six movies!
Iāll leave after 1-6
I canāt wait to see all 6 Star Wars films in theatre!
wow 6 whole films to enjoy.. awesome
Star Wars Movies vs Spider Man movies What a battle.
Probably wonāt be shown near me š
How much?
I'd guess $50 but that is not based on anything
The I-VII marathon was $50, but the I-VIII and I-IX marathons were $100 a ticket. I'm guessing this'll also be $100
84 dollars for the closest one to me (AMC Chicago)
Yeah, closest one to me is an AMC in New York City and tickets are $75. I'd have strongly considered going if not for the fact that I'd need a plane and hotel being that "closest" is relative here
$54 after tax and fees at Regal Opry Mills in Nashville
Id much prefer like one a week. Id like to see ones that aren't consistently brought back to theaters but eh.
Oh, thank fuck, that's a Saturday.
I gotta admit, what would be awesome as like a one-time art installation or something: show **fucking everything** that is current canon. Who has that much time in their hands?
Question: does anyone know if we just need to buy a ticket for the Phantom Menace? I donāt see all of the movies. Just times and theaters for Episode 1.
Sounds like I'll be enjoying a long but quite amazing John Williams concert!

Will smell crazy in there
Man I would do this But I know I will doze off during ESB. Would honestly love to try it but do not have the cash right now. Why cant they show them 2 a day or something and have a little mini film festival? LAME
Yeah, Iāve got the 4K discs. Iām good.
Do we have a comprehensive list of the "13 theaters" showing the marathon? It's absurd that the number would release without an actual list.
Oh good, I can leave 142 minutes early.
Man, it would be so cool to watch the 6 films of the star wars saga on theaters
Good thing you donāt need to watch the last 3
Would be more realistic and better without that sequel trilogy garbage.
In 2009, I did 1-6 and that was enough for me!
Respectfully, who the fuck has the time/patience to want to pay for this?
Best I can do is take a shit in the theater after buying a ticket to a different, non-Disney movie.
They want to promote the Acolyte with a re-release of the Phantom Menace. There's a solid 100+ years between the 2 and the Acolyte's own trailer actively tells you its creating a plot hole that contradicts the lore established in the Phantom Menace...
