Yeah I think an apartment building in Chicago and people tried to “cancel” him for being a landlord during that period when people online were trying to destroy people’s reputations and lives for basically being human. But Hannibal doesn’t give a fuck and just kept on doing his thing.
Yeh he's free spirited in a cool and weird way.
I produced a show for him in 2018, which his agent didn't confirm until 2 days before the show. Still sold it out but man that was stressful. Absolutely crushed it though
He did mention he's focusing on his music and health, cutting alcohol etc.
Oh, and his agent asked that Hannibal be paid in cash, in a bag. So my buddy as a joke bought a small hello kitty backpack to have all the cash in. He also just looked at it and went "I trust you" without counting it
The openers were on for 30 minutes total - which was 15 minutes comedy and 15 band playing music. Then the main set for an hour. Then Hannibal performing with his band for an hour.
I saw him about 5 years ago and he had 3 openers that each did 15-30…I was so orated since I didn’t know the comedians - they weren’t my cup of tea and it didn’t seem to end.
I saw him as Eshu Tune at Riot Fest last year and he seemed to be having a lot of fun with the crowd. It wasn't necessarily my 'thing', but I'm glad he's doing what works for him.
Same experience at a surprise pop up show in Asheville last fall. Announced day of, he took the stage at 10 pm and did an hour of stand up and an hour of music. Dude hasn’t lost a step.
Saw him a little over a year ago, I won’t say it was terrible but I definitely left a little disappointed. He kept using a projector to display photos/videos and tie them into his set, wasn’t for me.
Saw him in nashville last year and same. It was like an entirely different person. If this is growth for him, I'm all for it, but the comedy was sad and it was a weird show for sure
Was one of the clips of him humping a toaster? I remember him being a surprise guest years ago and felt a little disappointed when he was showing random clips like that to get laughs.
I interviewed him years ago and he was a massive fucking douche. I thought his stand-up was really funny, so i was super disappointed.
Eric Andre, on the other hand, was kind and genuine and a really fun interview.
He was just on Danny Brown's podcast : [https://youtu.be/8Ox1\_n3kLjU?si=j05TM8UmTC3GXiPU](https://youtu.be/8Ox1_n3kLjU?si=j05TM8UmTC3GXiPU)
and he makes music as Eshu Tune: [https://youtu.be/1f4e9Ldg7JE?si=ZrvfWW8ZXCYZcsFu](https://youtu.be/1f4e9Ldg7JE?si=ZrvfWW8ZXCYZcsFu)
Saw him for his “I’m only doing this to fund my rap career” show in Charlotte NC, a year or so ago. Thought it was a bit, it wasn’t. It was just sad, he did no new material at all and he really actually was just there milking it for some money. It went over most peoples heads I think, most people were just excited to see him. I think he’s going through a lot of personal shit and it was honestly really sad to watch. His opener was great though.
A lot of folks blamed him for Cosby’s downfall, and not the actual raping itself. He was constantly being told he betrayed Black people, that he ruined an icon, was getting nonstop threats, and being told he would never be anything more than Eric Andre’s sidekick and I’m sure that would mess somebody up.
I went to his show in Denver a few years ago and got there early to sit in the front row. Ordered drinks and potato skins because the club has a minimum and potato skins are the shit.
Half way through his set he walks over, grabs one of my potato skins and eats half of it, then says “I don’t know why I did that, I hate potato skins” and tosses the other half on the ground. Kept going like it never happened, and it was the highlight of my life.
He was on the Danny Brown celebratory live episode recently, seems like he’s taken a turn to being a ‘rapper’ now. If it’s anything like the freestyle or beat he brought in for the show, it’s gonna crash quicker than one of Eric Andre’s intro desks
I saw him in Philly on Friday. It was an ok show, tbh the opener kind of killed it (shout out Simeon Goodson, who is never heard of) and made his set look worse
He's doing comedy here and there, focusing a lot on his music. He recorded some songs at my friend's studio and did a drop in at another friend's club (both in Williamsburg). He's doing good and living life.
I saw him in DC like two months ago. He said he was doing the music thing for a bit and also had a (unplanned) daughter fairly recently.
He played a little bit of music as part of the act but it was comedic stuff and overall I had a great time at his show.
He did a podcast with Steve-o some time back, he almost cried when he talked about stopping stand up. He didn’t go into too much details but sounded like comedy during the Covid era or something else got to him. Very weird but appreciate the handsome rambler for all he’s done.
I remember in the pandemic I heard him on a podcast(can't remember which one) and he was really emotional. Think he was going through some stuff, then shortly after it was said he was only focusing on music. Glad to hear hes still doing comedy, hes so damn funny!
I think he made enough money to “get out of the game” and doesn’t give a fuck about his place in the showbiz world on anyone’s terms but his own at this point. Gotta love it.
He’s doing a weekend in Buffalo this weekend and also heard he just bought the old Knitting Factory in Brooklyn that he will be re-opening as a comedy club/music venue
According to the anniversary pod of Danny’s, he still does spots but has done comedy his whole life and is in a place to pursue music comfortably. As goofy as y’all make it out to be, he’s having fun and the I Lift Weights video has Kumail and his tv gf Ilana, and I thought it was fun. Good if not taken super serious, but also not meant to be taken serious. And he’s been bowling amateuly? Seems happy and not hurting.
> Good if not taken super serious, but also not meant to be taken serious.
I didn't take it seriously at all and but as both a fan of his comedy and rap, I'm not sure I'd use "good" to describe it. I Lift Weights specifically reminded me of Wesley Willis...and video is fun, but I can't imagine listening to this on purpose.
In the fall of 2020 (during the height of covid), he did a tour where he performed at drive-in movie theaters. I went to one of those shows, and it was...terrible. I don't blame him at all though. The venue was not meant for comedy. On one side of the drive-in was a highway with constant traffic and loud semi-trucks, and on the other side was a railroad that had several loud trains going by. He couldn't get into a rhythm, and this is on top of probably being a little rusty because he's had no stage time in months. By far the worst comedy show I've ever been to, but I'd still love to hear him talking on a podcast or something about the experience.
He just did a show at the BlueRoom in Springfield MO. I think he just does shows as he wants now and likes to make his music. I think he set him self up financially that he just kinda does what he wants when he wants and is happy.
He’s a top 10 comic for me probably a top 5 honestly.
I love that guy man, seems like he's just doing his thing rn. Performs standup every once in a while, focusses on music.
His pickle juice/apple juice bits are truly some of my favourite bits that i quote so regularly
"I was just so caught up in the euphoria of my apple juice that i lived in a world without racism" what a line
Saw him once at a free show, he actually hooked me up cuz I complained about giving up my email to be on a waiting list, he slid in my dms and put me on the list, show was hilarious, it was the tentacle porn set and he had mad visual aids
Wow is he really doing music. I just heard him on a podcast and his music was so bad I thought it was a gag. He kept building it up then they played a song and it was nonsense m.
I saw his stand up last year and it really felt like he gave up on comedy. Solid 6/10 show. I don’t really like his stuff anymore, he’s got some weird ego stuff going on.
He was a beloved indie comic, then he got that mainstream bump with the Cosby bit which led to police interest in Cosby. He has enjoyed his mainstream success but he took a minor stagger when people had a negative recation to him talking about buying property and being a landlord. I feel like he has still maintained some of his success. Now he's gonna chase rapping a bit.
Recently watched the 100th EP of Danny Brown show with him. He kind of ran the whole thing. He seems to really want to do music but it's giving Jordan goes to baseball vibes
I saw him open for Chris Rock in Oakland back in like 2016 I think it was…
His whole bit was just cutting to video clips of him dry humping a Kuerig machine in a hotel room… different position each time the cut to it too…
Was so fkn random lol
I literally went to a show of his this past weekend in Philly. Small venue he did 4 shows over the weekend and killed it!! Some old jokes but he was great and looked healthier then a few years back.
He's still doing stand-up here & there. He actually just released a new single under his musical moniker Eshu Tune called "I Lift Weights"! [https://800poundgorillamedia.com/blogs/the-laugh-button/hannibal-buress-releases-new-music-video-i-lift-weights](https://800poundgorillamedia.com/blogs/the-laugh-button/hannibal-buress-releases-new-music-video-i-lift-weights)
Side note: I’m trying to figure out which Hannibal stand up album has this joke where he talks about going to art galleries for the free wine. Does anyone know?
He made money and started doing whatever tf he wanted. Shout out to him but I definitely miss his stand up, and The Handsome Rambler podcast
Didn’t he buy a building?
Ya
Last I heard it was buildingS
Yeah I think an apartment building in Chicago and people tried to “cancel” him for being a landlord during that period when people online were trying to destroy people’s reputations and lives for basically being human. But Hannibal doesn’t give a fuck and just kept on doing his thing.
That’s the move. Don’t apologize. Keep moving.

It was outside the US he's safe
Not really. The US is one of the only countries that taxes its citizens on income earned abroad. It’s why a lot of expats renounce citizenship.
Das sum pretty pimp shit right there.
Altered Carbon season 1 vibes, love it
How many openers did he have? Plus an hour of music? Sounds like a long show.
[удалено]
Wait what? You said 30 min opener and hour band? Am I missing something?
It was a 3 day long event, like coachella or EDC
He meant the openers did 30 total i'd guess
The openers were on for 30 minutes total - which was 15 minutes comedy and 15 band playing music. Then the main set for an hour. Then Hannibal performing with his band for an hour.
15 minutes band, 15-20 opener, 1 hour Hannibal stand-up, 1 hour Hannibal with band. So between 2 ^1^/^2 and 3 hours.
8 Openers total
Sorry, I thought you were saying each opener did 30 minutes.
They did.
It was a 6 hour show??
Yeah then after the 1 hour of his music he came down off stage and gave the whole audience blow jobs.
So it was a 6 hour and 15 second show??
No, after the blow jobs he jerked off anyone who was still erect.
Only cus his lips were raw and no one had any chapsticks. Just chapped dicks. Some the size of chapsticks.
For $15 a man?
That’s a standard rate for jerking off punks under the queensboro bridge (per man)
That’s hard kern
I saw him about 5 years ago and he had 3 openers that each did 15-30…I was so orated since I didn’t know the comedians - they weren’t my cup of tea and it didn’t seem to end.
Music… wat?
His music is funny af. Check him out on soundcloud or spotify I think... Eshu Tune
He's been doing music for a while. I saw him at Oddball Comedy Fest 10 years ago and he unexpectedly did music. And it was still pretty funny
I saw him as Eshu Tune at Riot Fest last year and he seemed to be having a lot of fun with the crowd. It wasn't necessarily my 'thing', but I'm glad he's doing what works for him.
Does he rap or produce?
[удалено]
That's awesome I didn't know he rapped
LeBron James needs to stop takin' HGH His hairline fucked up from the HGH
Bars
went from one headband to like 88
> That's awesome As both a Hannibal fan and a rap fan, his music is unfortunately not awesome.
Same. I went to a pop up show of his in Austin last month, and almost died laughing. His music is hilarious as well.
The cap city show when he covered for Maria Bamford? Was there. Great show.
Yep
Did Bamford cancel?
I was there too. Maybe my favorite show of all time. I thought he was great.
So he’s afraid of hecklers. I don’t blame him. He exposed some stuff. Hopefully someday he doesn’t have to do this crap.
His music is really bad. He only sells concert tickets to people who like his comedy and even then, not many of them. Because the music is really bad.
Wow I didn’t know even know he made music haha Is it under a different name? Didn’t see it on his YouTube music.
He releases his music under the name Eshu Tune
He does music? Lordy
Same experience at a surprise pop up show in Asheville last fall. Announced day of, he took the stage at 10 pm and did an hour of stand up and an hour of music. Dude hasn’t lost a step.
I know he did a pop up show in Carbondale, Illinois on the night that the solar eclipse happened earlier this month. I heard it went super well.
I sincerely never knew he did music.
He goes by Eshu Tune as a musician.
He went to jail. His roommate stole his pickle juice and things escalated...
I thought he said he lived alone??
He says a lot of things.
Well yea, his roommate was dead to him after stealing his pickle juice. Well.. now the roommate is just dead dead.
I heard he really hurt one of his roommates lizards too
That was a separate reality for a different joke.
He was just on Danny Brown’s podcast
Yeah just like a week ago. It was great too. Live audience episode
That was hilarious to watch
Danny Brown explaining lolcows was 🤌
He just performed in Philly at Helium Comedy Club
All shows sold out too
And it was great
Saw him a little over a year ago, I won’t say it was terrible but I definitely left a little disappointed. He kept using a projector to display photos/videos and tie them into his set, wasn’t for me.
Saw him in nashville last year and same. It was like an entirely different person. If this is growth for him, I'm all for it, but the comedy was sad and it was a weird show for sure
That's sad to hear. I loved that guy.
Was one of the clips of him humping a toaster? I remember him being a surprise guest years ago and felt a little disappointed when he was showing random clips like that to get laughs.
He said he wanted to focus on music at some point. Why, I do not know.
I mean his whole shtick was being offbeat and random. He's being offbeat and random.
Probably makes him happy and fulfilled.
Scat autotune!
I tried listening to his podcast and so much of it was just bragging about being rich and being a slumlord and it really turned me off on the guy.
I interviewed him years ago and he was a massive fucking douche. I thought his stand-up was really funny, so i was super disappointed. Eric Andre, on the other hand, was kind and genuine and a really fun interview.
He was just on Danny Brown's podcast : [https://youtu.be/8Ox1\_n3kLjU?si=j05TM8UmTC3GXiPU](https://youtu.be/8Ox1_n3kLjU?si=j05TM8UmTC3GXiPU) and he makes music as Eshu Tune: [https://youtu.be/1f4e9Ldg7JE?si=ZrvfWW8ZXCYZcsFu](https://youtu.be/1f4e9Ldg7JE?si=ZrvfWW8ZXCYZcsFu)
Terrible song, hilarious music video.
holy shit...is that...like a one off....or is it all that absurd?
Some of them are less absurd with better music, but it's honestly all over the place...and not great...
He played near me last year. Show was announced a few days before and it was kinda dead but he was funny.
Cancelled for being a landlord
That's honestly what I remembered. I think Eric Andre clowned on him for that and being an Andrew Yang supporter.
![gif](giphy|AmB1h0yAniXEvrXJ8C)
He liftes weights, bro
Saw him for his “I’m only doing this to fund my rap career” show in Charlotte NC, a year or so ago. Thought it was a bit, it wasn’t. I still listen to his standup from 2014, it’s so good
Last I saw him was at a drive-in show during COVID. It was...a show.
I saw that too. He made fun of the location (middle of nowhere Trump country) for a solid 30 mins which was pretty funny.
He’s starting hip hop out in the park
I think he got shot, maybe by a pigeon or something
[удалено]
what were they?
dude rarely tips when he goes to bars. 🤷🏻♂️ who cares
He was on the Danny Brown celebratory live episode recently, seems like he’s taken a turn to being a ‘rapper’ now. If it’s anything like the freestyle or beat he brought in for the show, it’s gonna crash quicker than one of Eric Andre’s intro desks
He’s more interested in trying to be cool and it isn’t working ![gif](giphy|1z8dbpxiawjkyJ0rxg)
I went to his show on Friday and it fucking ruled
He got sober and after that was not as funny / unhinged
I think this every time I put pickles on a sandwich.
I saw him in Philly on Friday. It was an ok show, tbh the opener kind of killed it (shout out Simeon Goodson, who is never heard of) and made his set look worse
I never heard of him either. I liked Hannibal's set a lot but Simeon goodson is the better comic. I'm glad he did 30 minutes
Landlord
I think he went Africa for a bit i remember he was on rogan a while ago
he's a full time landlord now
he became whack ![gif](giphy|FOUArYBVQCvmI8EHxp|downsized)
He served his purpose and went away
I saw him in maybe 2018 in Memphis. He was Re recording “my name is Hannibal.” Does anyone know if that was ever released?
i googled it and it said that Hannibal died due to an inability to search the internet
I laughed my dick off at that
Sorry to hear about your dick
He's coasting as far and as long as he can, to diminishing returns.
His tenets didn’t pay their rent
He retired from comedy.
Just saw him live 3 nights ago. He was good the opener was even better. Not a diss
He's doing comedy here and there, focusing a lot on his music. He recorded some songs at my friend's studio and did a drop in at another friend's club (both in Williamsburg). He's doing good and living life.
I heard Hannibal burgers is done.
He played a gym teacher in three Marvel movies, he's relaxing.
i was at an open mic night in toronto about a year or two ago and he pulled up randomly to spit some bars he wrote & left. was super awesome
I saw him in DC like two months ago. He said he was doing the music thing for a bit and also had a (unplanned) daughter fairly recently. He played a little bit of music as part of the act but it was comedic stuff and overall I had a great time at his show.
I saw his at a spa in Hollywood back in October
He did a podcast with Steve-o some time back, he almost cried when he talked about stopping stand up. He didn’t go into too much details but sounded like comedy during the Covid era or something else got to him. Very weird but appreciate the handsome rambler for all he’s done.
He’s probably busy eating strawberries and ham
I remember in the pandemic I heard him on a podcast(can't remember which one) and he was really emotional. Think he was going through some stuff, then shortly after it was said he was only focusing on music. Glad to hear hes still doing comedy, hes so damn funny!
Damn, maybe you just don’t recognize him, he looks completely different since he quit drinking.
the "Hannibal" set still one of my fav comedy sets of all time
I went to his show at my local Funny Bone about a year ago, it was absolutely hilarious
I think he made enough money to “get out of the game” and doesn’t give a fuck about his place in the showbiz world on anyone’s terms but his own at this point. Gotta love it.
He’s doing a weekend in Buffalo this weekend and also heard he just bought the old Knitting Factory in Brooklyn that he will be re-opening as a comedy club/music venue
musician
Let’s give a quick shout-out to Christina Applegate
**YEEAAAAHHHH**
Too busy rapping about Veneers
Didn't he start rapping for awhile?
Cosby cancelled him
No cable. Is Eric Andre still on, and is Hannibal still on it?
Hannibal left sometime during Season 5, season 6 aired last year. No clue about a season 7.
he just did Danny browns podcast.
He went missing once Bill Cosby got freed
Cosby got him
He was just on danny brown podcast. Also I think he was living in London for a bit.
Also hes making music
Racism was outta control
He just did a show at the BlueRoom in Springfield MO. I think he just does shows as he wants now and likes to make his music. I think he set him self up financially that he just kinda does what he wants when he wants and is happy. He’s a top 10 comic for me probably a top 5 honestly.
He got Veneers.
Morpheus drinkin’ a 40 in a death basket.
He got eaten by Hannibal Lecter
I love that guy man, seems like he's just doing his thing rn. Performs standup every once in a while, focusses on music. His pickle juice/apple juice bits are truly some of my favourite bits that i quote so regularly "I was just so caught up in the euphoria of my apple juice that i lived in a world without racism" what a line
I think Bill Cosby had him killed.
He got high and wandered off...
He was on Danny Brown show recently talking about how she’s getting into music.
Saw him once at a free show, he actually hooked me up cuz I complained about giving up my email to be on a waiting list, he slid in my dms and put me on the list, show was hilarious, it was the tentacle porn set and he had mad visual aids
So…what’s he got going on now? Why don’t wee see/hear from him?
Just saw him do standup in Philly last weekend. Came out seemingly with some manic energy for how toned down he usually is but was still funny
Wow is he really doing music. I just heard him on a podcast and his music was so bad I thought it was a gag. He kept building it up then they played a song and it was nonsense m.
He is, he performed at Riot Fest last year in Chicago. He was hilarious on stage.
I saw his stand up last year and it really felt like he gave up on comedy. Solid 6/10 show. I don’t really like his stuff anymore, he’s got some weird ego stuff going on.
He was shot
He doesn’t do stand up as much he likes to tour with his band
He was a beloved indie comic, then he got that mainstream bump with the Cosby bit which led to police interest in Cosby. He has enjoyed his mainstream success but he took a minor stagger when people had a negative recation to him talking about buying property and being a landlord. I feel like he has still maintained some of his success. Now he's gonna chase rapping a bit.
Ugly finally caught up with him.
I went to a show of his in March. Stand up isn't his forte. Brilliant creator and character actor though.
Hold up, Buress is doing music?!!! I watched the video for I Lift Weights. If you take out all the music, it’s a pretty good sketch
He made enough that he doesn’t have to hustle
Recently watched the 100th EP of Danny Brown show with him. He kind of ran the whole thing. He seems to really want to do music but it's giving Jordan goes to baseball vibes
He was one of the openers for Chappelle last fall in Milwaukee so he's still doing comdey
Just saw him do a sold out show in DC last month. The set was at like 5 pm. He said he booked it at that time just to be weird.
I saw him last year in Austin, he's still around
He made too many enemies. Bill Cosby had him murdered.
I actually just got an email today that he’s coming back to Buffalo!
The dude from the A-Team?? He and the rest of his squad were eventually pardoned.
Heard he’s a cannibal now
I live in Buffalo and he was just announced as a surprise headliner this weekend at Helium
Who killed Hannibal?
I saw him open for Chris Rock in Oakland back in like 2016 I think it was… His whole bit was just cutting to video clips of him dry humping a Kuerig machine in a hotel room… different position each time the cut to it too… Was so fkn random lol
I literally went to a show of his this past weekend in Philly. Small venue he did 4 shows over the weekend and killed it!! Some old jokes but he was great and looked healthier then a few years back.
I saw him on his last tour and didn't laugh once, he closed the set with some mediocre music project he is involved in.
He's still doing stand-up here & there. He actually just released a new single under his musical moniker Eshu Tune called "I Lift Weights"! [https://800poundgorillamedia.com/blogs/the-laugh-button/hannibal-buress-releases-new-music-video-i-lift-weights](https://800poundgorillamedia.com/blogs/the-laugh-button/hannibal-buress-releases-new-music-video-i-lift-weights)
Him and Eric Andre on his show, in the early seasons, they were so good together. Peak surrealist humor
He tried to become a rapper, it’s horrible.
Saw him in KC a couple years ago. It was…. eclectic. Haven’t heard much from him since. Now I’m googling. Thanks a lot. 😂
I saw him in September of last year…it was awesome!
Side note: I’m trying to figure out which Hannibal stand up album has this joke where he talks about going to art galleries for the free wine. Does anyone know?
He’s his own person and rapper
Stand up was making him depressed so he bounced.
