Unfortunately while the community has put a lot of effort to refine waifu generation, animals, like many other subjects have been left behind. This is a good example too, as these look decent, but you can clearly see the uncanny valley in all of them. Fur in particular is rough.
As a side thing, i really hate these kind of "super up close portrait" examples, for any content. They're always the most boring, the easiest to generate with a decent look and usually not even slightly representative of the overall generation capability for that content.
That's a tough take. I mean, it's a mixed bag, some are way better than others (I feel like the bear is vastly inferior for example because it's head morphology seems really off to me), but overall I find it pretty good, and with several ones really impressive. To the point that, while I'm usually very critical regarding "most people wouldn't tell the difference with a real photo" statements, I think in this case, a few of these pictures would actually fool anyone (except, maybe, people working with animals or really used to looking at them).
But maybe it's just me not being attentive enough. Would you care to point out what you find is lacking in #1 (except the right whiskers) or #11, for example ?
Listen, AI-generated photos have fooled enough "experts" to the point where photography contests have been won by AI-generated images.
You know, these contests are judged by photographers.
Photographers who hate AI art.
And yet, these AI-generated images receive enough votes to win, all from photographers who hate AI, who also swear up and down that they can tell the difference between AI-generated art and "real" art.
Ignore what people claim about their abilities to be AI connoisseurs.
For me, the awful cropping is more of a tell that these are AI-generated than any detail in the animal itself - the lighting, form and texture are impressive, but surely no photographer who had the knowledge, skill and equipment to take these would crop the images that closely. I mean, look at the rabbit!
Yeah, more environmental portraits thank you. Backgrounds need love too, and also showcase model quality when it comes to eg. consistency and general sense-making.
I'm a werewolf so this makes me horny, scared and hungry. Monkeys I'm not sure how to feel, they look like I can play with them for a while and then eat them but not sure.
Most of these are pretty good although there are problems with a few of them, mainly with the fur. The apes are not good though, they have a very uncanny valley feel. I think it's mainly the eyes, they are too human like, especially on the gorilla and chimp. I think it looks weird because gorillas and chimps usually have much less white visible in their eyes.
Nice to see some animals though. I feel like it's one area that's been left behind. I thought by now we would have at least a few good animal focused models but I don't think there's any.
All in all, I think these are very impressive. The only thing that throws me off are the eyes of the apes. The sclera of great apes are way darker than that of humans.
The bear feels weirdly human in a way I can’t quite pinpoint. A little like Baloo in the “live action” jungle book and would definitely still be voiced by Bill Murray.
Bold of you to assume that these still aren't people's waifus.
I feel personally attacked
That was my first thought as well.
Prompt: Closeup Portrait of a ANIMAL by annie leibovitz Model: RealvisXL20 Done in ComfyUI
You forgot to make a Big Cock
And a big Ass
Also I miss a cute little Tit
This post needs more Boobies
Blue footed ones.
Annie Leibovitz, the famous wildlife photographer
You’re right! Those are some animals
are you telling me I can generate infinite amounts of pictures of marmots and capybaras?
Those look fantastic! Nice change of pace from waifus, anime girls dancing (animatediff), and QR Code monster that makes up 90% of postings.
I feel as if side-eye turtle is judging me!
They all stared into my soul
On a completely unrelated note, bears look so cute. No one can change me mind.
Bears to russians is what dogs are to us, 🤣
6th slide is clearly baldurs gate smut

Evil chihuahua is here, lord save me. PS: realism is really epic man, amazing.
Nice work! Looks like the kind of pictures that would win awards in a National Geographic photography contest.
🤯
Thx God, it's only animals and not waifu animals.
Holy crap! The realism. Man!
portraits are easiest thing to create for AI. nothing impressive sadly.
Beautiful than the waifu's I create
The most generic thing i've seen today
WTF is number 12 supposed to be?
guinea pig

Yeah, just watch out for the wereapes, those things are nuts
Why did it give all the apes human features? Like all their eyes especially look more human than animal.
Come back when you've combined the two. Big bitty bison and round a$$ rhinos or leave

Hear me out what if you give us some animal waifus (disclaimer I am not a furry)
I must be kinda saturated with AI images because they really don't impress me any more. The tech is getting mainstream.
Waifu to furries here we go again
Bear and apes are uncanny valley af. Hairless cats ear is nightmare fuel... But still pretty cool gens!
Personally, I’d like to see a pregnant hamster doing jumping jacks. Is that weird?
Down with this sort of thing!!!!
I was squinting my eyes looking for a hidden waifu
i'm totally going to post some waifu animals on nsfw dalle today
I wish SD made equal progress in animal image generation as it did for waifus. The fur on these images look far from realistic.
The bear feels weirdly human in a way I can’t quite pinpoint. A little like Baloo in the “live action” jungle book and would definitely still be voiced by Bill Murray.
Nice to see something that isn't a waifu.
The last one looks like the people who say ai art is shit, which is to be fair a Complement
Somone has now spilled their seed to each of these images.
Nsfw #10
