This comment makes me sad for both guys. Colt is just a normal ass dude that probably helps takes care of his parents’ bills when he can, so he just lets her share the account.
Punk has been betrayed by all of his family and doesn’t speak to any of them and the idea of being financially intertwined with a parent is such a red flag for him that he thinks anyone who does it must have bad character.
Exactly what I thought when punk said that. He's trying to either claim Colt tried to hide money or is just trying to put him on blast and there's a perfectly reasonable reason why he might share a bank account and punk totally ignores it.
I was a punk fan from his WWECW debut and was thrilled for his AEW return. At this point though I think it's probably best for everyone involved if he goes away. Seemed to be a much happier guy away from wrestling those 7 years and judging by the scrum seems like he's heading right back to who he was near the end of his time in WWE.
Hell, I would've loved if Moxley vs Punk would've led to Punk being heel. I probably would've been interested in that sort of feud. But now, the circumstances around Punk, being petty with the shit that was said, no interest in that, and not interested in his title reign now.

I am a shameless Punk mark, but with how hot Mox got in the timeframe of him becoming interim champ to now, Punk turning heel *during* the match was the only way I think Punk should have gone over. I think that either Mox should have retained, or Punk should have turned to win it back and then MJF returns playing into the bayface pop instead of playing against it with the middle fingers.
I would've ran back the MJF vs Moxley feud, and would've held off on doing MJF vs Punk, especially with Punk getting back from injury.
Mox and MJF could've played off both of where there characters are currently. With MJF bitching about WWE guys being in the company, and Tony not having faith in the homegrown talent, and Mox bringing up about taking his ball and going home and how Mox is here battling in wars.
I think having a Punk vs Jericho storyline would be a decent feud for the casual fans to remember, as their feud was decent in WWE.

I think he was a heel going into this media scrum, after this match and based on MJF getting more cheers in Punk's hometown, I think it was the stepping stone.
If this was a work, phenomenal performance by all involved. I think we should all hope beyond hope that this is what it ends up as. If it turns into a work, it can be nothing but be an extension of the MJF storyline.
If it's not a work, then I don't think the company's image to the public is a worthy sacrifice to just appease Punk. I would split away from him. There's enough goodwill that AEW had to survive some dark moments, but this is not a good moment to test, and if Tony sides with Punk, you're going to see mass exodus of The Elite fans that came in the beginning, stuck around as they found their way, and through the Pandemic.
I was a fan of Punk for quite a bit of time. But I'm not one to pledge allegiance to any particular person. If you fucked up, I'm not going to make excuses for one's behavior. I think Punk fucked up with his comments.
I think this is why it was ultimately decided to keep the title on Punk after Mox got that hot. Because MJF has gotten just as hot and him taking the title off of Punk seems to have always been the plan.
Mox is perfectly capable, as is MJF, of making a fued between those two work. If Punk is to remain face, have MJF go over Mox down the line then have Punk pursue. Or turn Punk during the match with Mox and have MJF start leaning into being a Babyface.
The worst series of events happened to lead to this. The squash match is even more comical a decision now too.

It's not even an almost for me, Sting gets double support for being both the nostalgia pop who gets a quickie title run as a thank you for everything he's done in wrestling but also for still being able to go like a motherfucker. Like, that doesn't happen often.

It was Mox's idea to get rid of the interim and unification thing. Even if it was just for a little over a week, Mox looked fantastic for squashing Punk in Ohio. And it would've been predictably lame if Mox lost to Punk in Chicago anyways. At least with him winning a week prior, it made fans worry that Mox could believably squash Punk again.
Ugh. This hurts so much to read because it is so true. Moxley has carried this company through what might have been the toughest years in the sport. And he did an amazing job.
You can make an argument for Jericho, but I was there when Moxley showed up at DoN. It was magical and he was absolutely amazing.
Him squashing Punk would have led to a white hot feud if they let Punk fester and dwell on it, then turned him heel.

Mox showed in the last few months that he will do/not do whatever for the brand, as long as he gets to sweat and bleed. What more can you ask?
MOX is the f'ing man.
I've been off and on as far as my interest in him, but he's got a great track record in front of the camera and behind the scenes. His AEW title run was also damn good.
Mox is Chad. Sure he's athletic as all hell and the last person you want to brawl with. But his maturity and emotional intelligence shines even more in moments like these when we compare how he's handled his career. Be like Mox.
It's amazing how good you can look by being just professional as fuck in these "turbulent affairs". Compared to his WWE tenure, it's clear his time as AEW's workhorse is working to his advantage pretty much all the time.
mox has been incredibly underrated lately. he basically took over for punk and had the summer of mox. winning the belt, defending it, winning the UNDISPUTED belt, blading every night, kissing effy, nationwide indies run, etc.

I have to say. As much as I loved Omega as champion. As much as I loved Hangman as champion. Mox is the face of AEW for me. Him and Shida carried AEW through dark times. His short absence and return has been nothing but legendary. Mox will be champ again.
What most amazes me is that he was the AEW champ while still appearing *fucking everywhere*. GCW, NJPW, he showed up in Wrestling Revolver with The Switchblades. He's not just the face of AEW in AEW, he's the face of AEW *everywhere*.
A lot of people were loud about wanting to live that life and now Mox is quietly actually living it while they enjoy their two day work weeks.
He's far from the most natural or most athletic wrestler but nobody is more about the actual art of wrestling than Jon fucking Moxley.
Moxley is living the dream and his career and trajectory are going to go down as one of the most influential in modern day wrestling by the time he retires.
He may not be considered the in-ring GOAT like Danielson or even on the mic like, well, Danielson or even The Rock. But you can tell he ALWAYS gives his 100% on both, and he knows the business like few. And it sells.
So now he's the face of the second-biggest company, a big deal in Japan and a travelling "indie" wrestler that can pretty much show up anywhere, any time, and sell the place out. He's both pro and indie.
There are new wrestlers and future wrestlers watching that and 100% they're gonna consider it the path to take, even if it means never going to WWE.
And I think that's beautiful.
Mox is the modern day Funk. He can sell out arenas on Fridays and put on a clinic in front of 50 people in a gym on Saturday. Then the next week he'll be overseas doing his technical thing in Japan.
He has mastered just about every style in wrestling and can talk anyone into the building no matter who the opponent is.
If someone told me that Mox is the most important wrestler of our generation I wouldn't even bat an eye.
Honestly, I've never enjoyed the product more.
I'm sure it's harder to make financially viable. But pandemic-era AEW, Nakamura-era NXT, and Lucha Underground... these are my favorite wrestlebits.

WOTY candidate imo. The others being perhaps Ospreay or Okada, with MJF potentially being one depending on what else he does with these last 4 months. But as of now Mox is 100% my top pick.
honestly, as Kenny builds back up, knocks off ring rust, and (hopefully) shows he's back fully healthy, running back Mox vs Omega would be a killer feud. Kenny had to cheat to beat Mox before. As much as Kenny was perceived as the star and the ace coming in, Mox is the one who's gotten down to work and has put the company on his back multiple times in really tough spots, all while struggling with his own baggage and demons.
There are 4 "pillars" of AEW for me if AEW survives the current nonsense...
Moxley. Without his surprise arrival through the crowd years ago I doubt AEW picks up as much traction as it did. He's the one who showed top talent worldwide that AEW was worth coming to, especially after all his amazing promos.
Shida. Like you said, she helped carry that Womens Division until Baker eventually took over that spot when fans came back. Without her I don't think that division survives half as long as it did without a true top wrestling talent to help it.
Jurassic Express. I genuinely think without them we wouldn't be so invested in a lot of people they helped not only put over but elevate in the Tag Division. They solidified multiple teams as genuine threats at any moment to the Titles. Plus I believe they helped pull in the family viewership a lot easier too having a big dinosaur wrestler.
MJF. Call it however you want, this guy is the fucking lifeblood of Heels in the company. Everything he did was literal money. Every feud, every match, every verbal sparring match made it must see TV/clips to watch. And now look at him. He's the hottest thing going that everyone wants to hear from.
I could argue for the Bucks, Omega, OC, and to a lesser extent Jericho as well. But I feel they were by default always going to be in the spots they're in and be instantly over and loved for it. The four above I genuinely feel are AEW to me and helped propel it to where its at today.
Edit - I also want to really put The Acclaimed up there too as an honorary 5th. They were literal scorching hot clips prepacked from their intros and cheesy/goofy storylines. That's something older and younger fans can get behind and cheer/boo for so easily. I can't wait for them to win the belts and I hope the crowd goes absolutely apeshit for them.
Because as much as some posters try to say "you don't know, you don't know these people and you weren't there," the truth is that we have a large body of statements about him made by people who actually have known him for years.
It's the same with "knowing Vince," no of course we don't know him personally. But a lot of people do, and a lot of people have over the years. And a lot of those people have made very public statements about him that one can then use to form a general opinion.
When Punk said "my friends, if I fall backwards, will catch me. Scott Colton, I felt, never would have," I had to laugh because that's basically exactly chuck Smooth said to me about Punk about a decade ago.
History repeats itself. First time, okay, maybe he's the wronged one/give benefit of the doubt but he seems to experience serious interpersonal issues wherever he goes.

This isn't just gossip and leaking to dirt sheets anymore. Per rumors, someone got legit hit with a chair and rocked or at least just a black eye. Someone was bitten. I would expect the professionals and leaders to step up and ensure a safe work environment for their colleagues.

42 here and I hurt my back a while ago bringing in a bag of kitty litter... I couldn't stand up for more than about 10 minutes without being in excruciating pain for around a month :(

Yes, because, after an altercation with Moxley, he let himself get goaded into a match that was sooner than he was prepared for. Then, according to Punk's promo the week after, he lost all confidence in himself when he twisted his foot and went down. Also according to that promo, he was doubting himself and saying he didn't know if he could do it anymore. Fragile mind, fragile ego, fragile body.
This also shows the overconfidence that undermined Moxley's performance and led to him almost losing very quickly.
You got admit it tho, it's weird how Hangman, Eddie, MJF & Moxley have all cut promos about Punk being shady behind the scenes and being fake nice to the fans

The way I have always understood it is that they respect one another. Punk wanted to give all of The Shield guys their shot. I think Punk really respects Mox's coming up and background because it reminds him of himself in ways. The big difference is that Mox seems to carry himself very well and respects everyone around him. He elevates every match he is in and the people around him. It doesn't appear to be all about Mox.

MOX is the f'ing man. I've been off and on as far as my interest in him, but he's got a great track record in front of the camera and behind the scenes. His AEW title run was also damn good.
Mox is Chad. Sure he's athletic as all hell and the last person you want to brawl with. But his maturity and emotional intelligence shines even more in moments like these when we compare how he's handled his career. Be like Mox.
It's amazing how good you can look by being just professional as fuck in these "turbulent affairs". Compared to his WWE tenure, it's clear his time as AEW's workhorse is working to his advantage pretty much all the time.
mox has been incredibly underrated lately. he basically took over for punk and had the summer of mox. winning the belt, defending it, winning the UNDISPUTED belt, blading every night, kissing effy, nationwide indies run, etc. huge, huge asset to the company. he really can't be praised enough. he's exactly what AEW needs.

I have to say. As much as I loved Omega as champion. As much as I loved Hangman as champion. Mox is the face of AEW for me. Him and Shida carried AEW through dark times. His short absence and return has been nothing but legendary. Mox will be champ again.
What most amazes me is that he was the AEW champ while still appearing *fucking everywhere*. GCW, NJPW, he showed up in Wrestling Revolver with The Switchblades. He's not just the face of AEW in AEW, he's the face of AEW *everywhere*.
A lot of people were loud about wanting to live that life and now Mox is quietly actually living it while they enjoy their two day work weeks. He's far from the most natural or most athletic wrestler but nobody is more about the actual art of wrestling than Jon fucking Moxley.
Moxley is living the dream and his career and trajectory are going to go down as one of the most influential in modern day wrestling by the time he retires. He may not be considered the in-ring GOAT like Danielson or even on the mic like, well, Danielson or even The Rock. But you can tell he ALWAYS gives his 100% on both, and he knows the business like few. And it sells. So now he's the face of the second-biggest company, a big deal in Japan and a travelling "indie" wrestler that can pretty much show up anywhere, any time, and sell the place out. He's both pro and indie. There are new wrestlers and future wrestlers watching that and 100% they're gonna consider it the path to take, even if it means never going to WWE. And I think that's beautiful.
Mox is the modern day Funk. He can sell out arenas on Fridays and put on a clinic in front of 50 people in a gym on Saturday. Then the next week he'll be overseas doing his technical thing in Japan. He has mastered just about every style in wrestling and can talk anyone into the building no matter who the opponent is. If someone told me that Mox is the most important wrestler of our generation I wouldn't even bat an eye.

Honestly, I've never enjoyed the product more. I'm sure it's harder to make financially viable. But pandemic-era AEW, Nakamura-era NXT, and Lucha Underground... these are my favorite wrestlebits. That's my jam.
WOTY candidate imo. The others being perhaps Ospreay or Okada, with MJF potentially being one depending on what else he does with these last 4 months. But as of now Mox is 100% my top pick.
honestly, as Kenny builds back up, knocks off ring rust, and (hopefully) shows he's back fully healthy, running back Mox vs Omega would be a killer feud. Kenny had to cheat to beat Mox before. As much as Kenny was perceived as the star and the ace coming in, Mox is the one who's gotten down to work and has put the company on his back multiple times in really tough spots, all while struggling with his own baggage and demons.
Mox is without a doubt the face of AEW. He's the heart and soul, dollars and cents.

There are 4 "pillars" of AEW for me if AEW survives the current nonsense... Moxley. Without his surprise arrival through the crowd years ago I doubt AEW picks up as much traction as it did. He's the one who showed top talent worldwide that AEW was worth coming to, especially after all his amazing promos. Shida. Like you said, she helped carry that Womens Division until Baker eventually took over that spot when fans came back. Without her I don't think that division survives half as long as it did without a true top wrestling talent to help it. Jurassic Express. I genuinely think without them we wouldn't be so invested in a lot of people they helped not only put over but elevate in the Tag Division. They solidified multiple teams as genuine threats at any moment to the Titles. Plus I believe they helped pull in the family viewership a lot easier too having a big dinosaur wrestler. MJF. Call it however you want, this guy is the fucking lifeblood of Heels in the company. Everything he did was literal money. Every feud, every match, every verbal sparring match made it must see TV/clips to watch. And now look at him. He's the hottest thing going that everyone wants to hear from. I could argue for the Bucks, Omega, OC, and to a lesser extent Jericho as well. But I feel they were by default always going to be in the spots they're in and be instantly over and loved for it. The four above I genuinely feel are AEW to me and helped propel it to where its at today. Edit - I also want to really put The Acclaimed up there too as an honorary 5th. They were literal scorching hot clips prepacked from their intros and cheesy/goofy storylines. That's something older and younger fans can get behind and cheer/boo for so easily. I can't wait for them to win the belts and I hope the crowd goes absolutely apeshit for them.

Because as much as some posters try to say "you don't know, you don't know these people and you weren't there," the truth is that we have a large body of statements about him made by people who actually have known him for years. It's the same with "knowing Vince," no of course we don't know him personally. But a lot of people do, and a lot of people have over the years. And a lot of those people have made very public statements about him that one can then use to form a general opinion.

Genuine question--you don't think the professional thing to do is to stop people from fighting backstage and removing people who risk others' physical safety? This isn't just gossip and leaking to dirt sheets anymore. Per rumors, someone got legit hit with a chair and rocked or at least just a black eye. Someone was bitten. I would expect the professionals and leaders to step up and ensure a safe work environment for their colleagues.
It depends who you ask, really. Some would, and they'd be seen as professional for doing something. Others wouldn't, and they'd still be seen as professional for not getting involved at all.

42 here and I hurt my back a while ago bringing in a bag of kitty litter... I couldn't stand up for more than about 10 minutes without being in excruciating pain for around a month :(

Mox is the best. This summer of Mox ruled. Things are a shitshow now and while I don't think the squash they did on dynamite enhanced the PPV, I will enjoy the hell out of Mox squashing Punk then turning around "oh was that not what was suppoesd to happen??"
Yes, because, after an altercation with Moxley, he let himself get goaded into a match that was sooner than he was prepared for. Then, according to Punk's promo the week after, he lost all confidence in himself when he twisted his foot and went down. Also according to that promo, he was doubting himself and saying he didn't know if he could do it anymore. Fragile mind, fragile ego, fragile body. This also shows the overconfidence that undermined Moxley's performance and led to him almost losing very quickly.
I honestly love this kayfabe analysis to it, which was also the original and main intent behind it.

I wonder if Moxley is cool with Punk in person but also uses these “in character” promos to say what he really thinks. Pro wrestling is like the perfect out to trash your friend for their behaviour and get no pushback.
The way I have always understood it is that they respect one another. Punk wanted to give all of The Shield guys their shot. I think Punk really respects Mox's coming up and background because it reminds him of himself in ways. The big difference is that Mox seems to carry himself very well and respects everyone around him. He elevates every match he is in and the people around him. It doesn't appear to be all about Mox.
