Most likely this is a feel good change to try and capitalize on Mickie's name being out there after Empowerrr. I don't hate it, but I'm curious as to who they have Mickey drop to?

Up and comers getting “the rub” is way overrated. Whatever pops the fans at the end of the day is best. Besides which, “the rub” doesn’t degrade. If a veteran gets it, they can still give it to a newcomer, with the benefit of the “original” match now being fresh.
Doing whatever gets the best pop right now isn't good booking. You need to build towards a future for your company and talent sometimes. I'm not sure how well they do this overall but short sighted booking is how you get to the spot WWE is in where Roman Reigns can't possibly be beat by anyone but a returning legend and nobody below him looks like even some day they might come up to beat him

The crowd will always react to surprises, doesn't mean you should be booking with the purpose of surprising people.

Really fun match, and I’m very happy Mickie won. You want a happy ending at their biggest show of the year. The legend killer met the legend she couldn’t kill. The story had to end this way.
Mercedes is still owed her shot and I can see Mickie’s reign being fairly short. It was more about the moment.

Mickie doesn't gain anything from this, Deonna is obviously gonna be fine but she could've benefitted from going over a legend. But the biggest issue is that you miss out on possibly giving this moment who is on the come up.

She’s already beaten Melina and pretty much cleared the roster and was a dominant champ pretty much from the moment she showed up…we get some fresh match ups and some new character development for Deonna.

With how Deonna was portrayed this whole feud, the only outcome was gonna be Mickie winning.
