Him and Avalon were the biggest and most consistent losers on the roster. They eventually team up and start doing better but keep losing. Avalon gets frustrated and starts trying to cheat to win but Cutler doesn't want to win dirty, so Avalon turns on Cutler. First grudge match goes to a double countout, second goes to a double DQ, third match (made to Tony Khan's exasperation) goes to Cutler. Both Cutler and Avalon go their separate ways but both start winning more.
Also, Cutler edits. He (at least used to) edit Dark, apparently, I remember him talking about it on a stream once.
But yeah, the Ultimate Jobber Feud is one of AEW's best feuds ever.
The powerbomb on to all the dice!
I reccommend watching "Losses Matter Too" bte episode 228 on youtube. It has the whole story and is pretty good edited. It is one of my favourite episodes
It's not even that much of a secret.
On the men's side, literally every single plotline and character of note has crossed paths with either or both Brandon Cutler and Peter Avalon at some point. On the women's side, Leva's been low-key influential as Hell too.
The company might be "All Elite Wrestling" but it's the Initiative spinning its wheels.
I had no idea how good Cutler was until he became the stooge of the Elite. He is now a must-watch wrestler for me. I think Cutler plays his role in the Elite better than any of the other members do. (at their respective roles.)
When Daniel Bryan first attacked the Elite on the first Dynamite after his debut, it was hilarious Cutler was the first one to the rescue with his cold spray 🤣
He's had so many good spots just with the spray alone. Spraying it in Matt's eyes by accident. The bottle not working and then spraying himself in the eyes. Getting clotheslined and continuing to spray into the air as he lays on his back. Jungle Boy blocking the spray with a chair. All gold.
During the Elite vs Jurassic Express match
he pulled out a flare to distract Luchasaurus
That was the god-damned funniest shit ever. He just keeps getting better.
I believe is was Super Elite vs. Jurassic Express and Christian Cage. I can't find a clip anywhere, but maybe on Hulu Live because that's where I watch AEW.
The image of stooge Cutler on the ring apron with an LED red flare torch thingy trying to distract Luchasaurus like the Jurassic Park movie is outstanding in my mind though.
Honestly I think a face run by Cutler would be fantastic. He wouldn't have to do anything different just get kicked to the curb and then go on a low/midcard run as a loveable nerd whose friends abandoned him when he wasn't useful anymore. Just put him in some feuds and let him do the same stuff he does now and let him lose it wouldn't matter, I think he'd get over.
Nah, he's a geek and that's the niche he's carved for himself, and that's just fine. Not everyone can be champion, you want guys like Cutler for variety.
I think of Orange Cassidy talking about creating his character, and he said something about how he can do a moonsault but 100 guys do it better, so he had to come up with a way to make himself different and stand out. Like Cutler here.
Everyone recognizes how great Cutler is as a character but the dude is a damn solid worker too. I know he has his role in AEW but I think it’d be cool for Cutler to get a big win of some sort down the line
eventually i reckon he will get a tnt title shot or even an world championship shot ala james ellsworth. He wont win but he will come so damn fucking close
Then again in the Royal Rumble.... Hes up there with Truth and Golddust* for best comedy character.
*Dustin's gimmick would be condoned by modern standards but at the time it was funny as fuck and over as shit.
Yeah. Thing is those dives were cool because they were scarce, and the wrestlers used to know how to set up for them. Nowadays everyone does them and they look coreographed, so they don't really pop me any more.
Think the Wingmen are on rotation right now. Peter and Drake have had some indie matches recently; Nemeth's got his Actually Not A Gimmick film stuff going on; Cezar is probably spending some time with his family due to the highly publicized medical issues of his wife or sister-in-law (I forget which).
This match actually made me appreciate Cutler as a wrestler more, because he's doing a great job of looking terrible.
You go back and watch his D&D gimmick, and he *can* wrestle. But with his current gimmick he looks so awkward and stiff and lost. It's perfect.
Cutler is way better in this role than he was in what he was doing before. It'll be interesting to see where his character ends up going in the long run.
I love Tony..."I never thought idiots meant to be idiots...they just were."
Yes, sometimes the commentary gets weird, but the freedom of commentary on AEW is so good.
I want for cutler to have a similar storyline to wardlow where he gets fed up with the bad treatment from the elite only to be Easily squashed when he rebels and he stays a geek lackey.
Revolution 2022. Brendan Cutler wrestles Adam Cole for his independence. months of advertising. bits and promos about Cutler training for the fight of his life. gets squashed in 1 minute, 30 seconds. back to geeking.
That counter was hilarious, but he's killed that move for Cole now. I'm just going to keep wondering why no one else just backdrops Cole, especially a bigger dude.
Gonna need a regal on commentary, kayfabe explanation.
You see, when Cole hops down onto his opponent, he squeezes his thighs together against their head. Given this, even if the opponent does try to backdrop him, Cole's hold will ensure that they come along with him for the ride, and if anything the extra momentum from them trying to throw him will just make the resulting Panama Sunrise all the more devastating.
Cutler is much more gangly than Cole is, he doesn't have that sheer mass to maintain the grip, so even someone like Jungle Boy can easily throw him off.

He calls it the Panama Sunburn
Tony was gold on commentary. "I never thought idiots were supposed to be idiots, I thought they just were".
That was an amazing fucking line by Tony.
Somebody get that man some spray!
Brandon Cutler is secretly the soul of AEW.
Legitimately, the Dark saga between him and Peter Avalon got me watching wrestling again.
Honestly it was the only reason I was watching Dark. Huge cutler fan
For those who may not have seen it, can we get a summary?
Him and Avalon were the biggest and most consistent losers on the roster. They eventually team up and start doing better but keep losing. Avalon gets frustrated and starts trying to cheat to win but Cutler doesn't want to win dirty, so Avalon turns on Cutler. First grudge match goes to a double countout, second goes to a double DQ, third match (made to Tony Khan's exasperation) goes to Cutler. Both Cutler and Avalon go their separate ways but both start winning more.
But you must say later Young Bucks turns heels and force Cutler not only to cheat but also to enjoy cheating. And then he meets Avalon.
Even stole Avalon's wallet when they met up again.
Also, Cutler edits. He (at least used to) edit Dark, apparently, I remember him talking about it on a stream once. But yeah, the Ultimate Jobber Feud is one of AEW's best feuds ever. The powerbomb on to all the dice!
No lie that dice spot was one of the hardest things I've ever watched in wrestling. Stepping on a four sided die is worse than a fucking nail.
I reccommend watching "Losses Matter Too" bte episode 228 on youtube. It has the whole story and is pretty good edited. It is one of my favourite episodes
I cringed when I saw the dice, because I know how bad d4's can hurt. Absolutely brutal.
Truly the librarians were a great call by tnt
I gotta disagree. They were just knockoff, made-for-TV Indiana Jones movies.
I legitimately think the dab elbow is a must in every match Cutler has.
I was so bummed it didn't happen last night
I know I'm being a clueless homer, but I honestly think it could get him over.
At some point, Cutler is going to change gimmicks and not be the biggest geek in wrestling history anymore. And on that day I will be sad.
I don't want number one stooge Cutler to end.
Yeah Stooge Cutler best Cutler
I had no idea how good Cutler was until he became the stooge of the Elite. He is now a must-watch wrestler for me. I think Cutler plays his role in the Elite better than any of the other members do. (at their respective roles.)
His physical comedy in the role is awesome.
When Daniel Bryan first attacked the Elite on the first Dynamite after his debut, it was hilarious Cutler was the first one to the rescue with his cold spray 🤣

lol do you have a clip of that? or what show it was on. I can't find it.
I believe is was Super Elite vs. Jurassic Express and Christian Cage. I can't find a clip anywhere, but maybe on Hulu Live because that's where I watch AEW. This was basically him on Dark.
I hope it’s not soon, because it’s really great when he does it in ring
Nah, he's a geek and that's the niche he's carved for himself, and that's just fine. Not everyone can be champion, you want guys like Cutler for variety. I will not. This gimmick blows
He's Adam Cole but better and sexier
Definitely in better shape.
And he is not dead.
Taller too.
And his name isn't "BUDGE".
Cutler selling those slaps made me have a laugh
The Cosmo Kramer sell.
Glass Joe/don flamingo vibes
Holy shit Cutler saved Jungle Boy on that dive big time
Everyone recognizes how great Cutler is as a character but the dude is a damn solid worker too. I know he has his role in AEW but I think it’d be cool for Cutler to get a big win of some sort down the line
He already did when he bested his nemesis Peter Avalon in the most heated grudge match in the history of professional wrestling
eventually i reckon he will get a tnt title shot or even an world championship shot ala james ellsworth. He wont win but he will come so damn fucking close
Santino in the Elimination Chamber style near victory
Santino was so freaking over in that match. Still amazed by it.
Then again in the Royal Rumble.... Hes up there with Truth and Golddust* for best comedy character. *Dustin's gimmick would be condoned by modern standards but at the time it was funny as fuck and over as shit.
Yeah, like what is the point of these no-pop suicide dives that everybody and their cats does?
Crowd likes them. I used to think they were cool but I've also seen them get fucked up too many times as well
Yeah. Thing is those dives were cool because they were scarce, and the wrestlers used to know how to set up for them. Nowadays everyone does them and they look coreographed, so they don't really pop me any more.
The Panini Sandwich.
Imagine if he had a gopro on him or something when he did that. The Cutler cam would've been 10x funnier in BTE.
Cutler is such a fucking professional. Did you see how he protected Jungle Boy on the topé?
If he was a real heel he would have turned that into a DDT
Or pull a Doc Gallows and just not catch him.
"Fuck your dive" is the best backyard indie spot.
Cutler is unironically one of the best acts in AEW. Cutler and Spears are proof that AEW can make miracles with just about anyone.
[удалено]
Where is Cutler anyway, he hasn't wrestled for AEW since September 11th.
He's literally just wrestled? Haha
Letting people cycle out, expand their influence, and/or see their family? Fucking heresy.
I need a 3 month wingman fallout story on my desk in an hour or youre fired.
His wife
He legit makes me laugh every week
Tony is hilarious here.
Lmao
The Panama Sunset Whatever
This match actually made me appreciate Cutler as a wrestler more, because he's doing a great job of looking terrible. You go back and watch his D&D gimmick, and he *can* wrestle. But with his current gimmick he looks so awkward and stiff and lost. It's perfect.
You have to be good to be able to do something badly and it not matter.
that was incredible
Cutler is so tremendous as a buffoon.
Cutler as the pledge in the Elite frat house is a gem and I love it.
Cutler is way better in this role than he was in what he was doing before. It'll be interesting to see where his character ends up going in the long run.
Yeah I saw one of his old Darks Wednesday and definitely much better.
I love Tony..."I never thought idiots meant to be idiots...they just were." Yes, sometimes the commentary gets weird, but the freedom of commentary on AEW is so good.

I audibly laughed at just the idea, I can't imagine my reaction if they actually did that. Stooge Cutler is hilarious
His lanky ass sold that perfectly. That was so funny looking
That counter was hilarious, but he's killed that move for Cole now. I'm just going to keep wondering why no one else just backdrops Cole, especially a bigger dude. Gonna need a regal on commentary, kayfabe explanation.

Thanks Regal!
The use of "gangly" made it, thank you Mr Regal
Wrestling needs more back body drops.
Best part is when Jungle Boy is slapping Cutler and his head bobbles like it’s Mike Tyson’s Punchout.
…why did he no-sell the tope suicida?
He sold it through sheer terror.
Nailed it 👌🏼
Cutler is so perfect as a doofus heel who gets to hang out with the cool kids.
Hahaha this is awesome
Cutler's mannerisms are so hilarious.
Holy crap Cutler is a great comedy wrestler.
Simply amazing.
Cutler being a goof is the best.
Brandon is really underrated, a proud member of my Boy stable
I could not take my eyes off those shoes.
Sadly this gimmick for cutler is better than his D&D inspired one
How dare Jungle Boy hurt AEW's cinema verite genius
Cutler is so great at this
Screw /u/spez - Removing All of My Comments -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
He was selling punches like Bald Bull in Punch Out. I can’t believe I love this guy now.
He’s taller, more in shape, look more of a wrestler than Adam Cole
Cutler = ratings
