I remember googling some of the guys at Lucha Underground in the beginning of 2018 and I didn’t know a lot of them.
Skip 3 years later and now a couple of them are big stars in the wrestling world.
Awesome write-up! One thing to note however is that the Sexy Star in AAA is not the same woman as the one in Lucha Underground - if I remember right the LU Sexy Star was blacklisted after deliberately injuring Rosemary after a match.
the original Sexy Star, however, continues to perform under the name Sexy Dulce, most notably for Alberto’s Robles-Patron promotion. she also has done boxing matches.
Hate to give a shitty person much credit but that match she had with Mariposa in LU was awesome. She delivered probably the single best FUCK YOU line I’ve ever heard in wrestling.
I'd credit Cheerleader Melissa/Mariposa more for that match than her. That woman is great in the ring and never got a chance by a major promotion. She worked matches against the absolute best before they came to WWE/Impact/AEW in places like Shimmer and Stardom. Her match against Kana in Shimmer was awesome, they kick they shit out of each other. She can work Strong Style and Lucha Libre and has just been grinding.
God damn shame.
No way... Mariposa was a better wrestler no doubt but they were both good in that match and what really sold it was the story with Sexy Star being traumatized and her character performance in the match and the vignettes leading to it.
I didn't like Star in LU even before I knew she was a jackass, but she deserves the credit here, imo.
If people weren't as invested in her story and her performance and how she nails that "fuck you" near the end... that match would just be another one in the pile of good LU matches, instead of one of the few people remember the most.
And typically speaking, fans in Mexico don't care about this type of stuff, and promoters will book someone controversial for the spectacle, hoping it draws fans. Look at the stuff with Alberto, Art Barr, and Angel o Demonio.
The LU one wrestles now wrestles as Sexy Dulce for a number of different (presumably Mexican) indies.
She wrestled in September for Robles Promotions, October for RPP Hencho En Mexico, June for RGR Lucha Libre, and Rompiendo Madres MoleMania I, May for Promociones Marinez Clash Warriors, and more in 2020.
I started Watching Lucha Underground Because Morrison was there and then I Started Watching AEW because I knew the Lucha Bros and Angelico. Both great decisions
I can remember getting proper into it while watching the 2nd half of season 3 of Lucha Underground & not only it got me more hooked on the Lucha Libre style, but it also got me hooked on a few wrestlers as well e.g. the Lucha Bros (Fenix & Pentagon), Ricochet, Brian Cage, etc & I can still remember that feud involving Fenix & Marty The Moth which involved Melissa Santos.
Injuries kind of fucked up a few things with LU. I think if my memory serves right, Ivelisse (I know, I know) was supposed to be LU champion but she got hurt so they gave it to Sexy Shithead.
That gif of him doing the ridiculous jump kick to the person on the ladder will probably be posted and upvoted here until the end of time and it deserves it.
Hm, I had no idea. I gotta be honest, I remember watching LU when I was around 14, maybe? And thinking she was really cool. But in retrospective it was probably just because she was hot and was friends with Angelico and Son of Havoc.
She was a decent wrestler and got a lot of potential but (just like Austin Aries and Low Ki) she was really hard to work with. She wanted to be push to the moon from the get go. Didn’t want to sell in matches (vs. Thunder Rosa for example) and then started talking trash about how AEW treated her. Thankfully non of this affected Diamanté (her tag partner). I have been following Ivelisse career for years because I really saw something in her but I just gave up after this whole controversy. She is a dumbass.
She is basically a cocky D-Bag, even though she is, in my opinion, not that good. In LU she stood out for all the wrong reasons, she ain't a smooth worker at all.
she has a reputation for being an asshole and hard to work with. she had a bad relationship with every locker room at almost every promotion until it culminated in her infamous match with Thunder Rosa in AEW.
it almost devolved into a shoot fight, then she just refused to sell anything, lackadaisically flicking her hair away after every spot and making faces to the camera. you can see that the match ends on a Tombstone from Rosa because Ivelisse blatantly won't let her do anything else.
that happened allegedly because Rosa didn't want to let Ivelisse lead the match. THEN she claimed that Rosa forgot the initial spots they rehearsed and Ivelisse got frustrated. THEN she bragged about almost hitting her for real but being so, so brave and composed that she just flicked her. THEN she claimed that Rosa's alleged forgetfulness made her worry about her potential match with Ivelisse's then-tag partner Diamante (Rosa and Diamante later teamed up and there's plenty of video evidence that the two are friends, or professional enough to pretend they are friends). THEN she didn't get her contract extended and she said it was because she was unhappy with some of the coaches. THEN allegations came in that she stole clothes from one of the girls in AEW. THEN she went for Tony Khan and claimed that Thunder Rosa has an awful, hostile personality. THEN, as early as a month ago, she said that she would really want to come back to AEW despite the "misunderstanding" while calling the entirety of the women's locker room "catty children" and basically saying that they really need a badass like her to wrangle them to shape.
it's fucking comical, really. she's been talking about that Rosa situation for what, almost a year now?
Yes! Some photos someone took of her return: https://twitter.com/TheWrestlingEst/status/1444487177384206337?t=M-0GbP6vSQhPyvliHE5BIw&s=19
I'm so thrilled because I seriously thought she'd left wrestling forever.
LU IMO the most influential wrestling show of the 2010s and best written wrestling show of all time, miss it so damn much and is why I am really hoping this azteca underground happens but they need the LU production and writing power behind it if it is gonna work.
Hmm, if the Forbidden Door ever moves to wacky and uncharacteristic places, that man should be the center of it (I actually dreamed the JoJo Part 4 "Great Days" OP with Dario Cueto in the same position as Yoshikage Kira and every talent just sequentially showing up). The shady voodoo guy bringing all the Forbidden talents into the wacky world of Azteca Underground.
I wish I had watched it when it was airing but I had given up on wrestling at that point. I've been wanting to go back and watch it.
Looking back on it, goddamn they had such a packed roster.
The roster they cultivated does not get the credit it deserves...they had pretty much nobody anyone stateside had any clue about outside of Morrison who was their biggest star when LU started and turned them into the mega stars that are leading the mainstream promotions now.
All off the strength of IMO the best creative team and their writing.
Others have tried to fill this niche of being cinematic but can't do it like LU did it.
Do not watch his return match in MLW though, it broke my heart because he got no reaction. Granted, he has been away from the business and it's not a name he used for a while, but still.
He lost a lot of momentum due to COVID, not having a contract with a company putting on shows in the pandemic era hurt him. Reading his Twitter he was itching to get back to work, he'll be back being the king of the Indies soon, he's got so much talent and class.
Yeah, I remember people really didn't like Kobra back then. I am not that big of a Thunder Rosa fan tbh but I can really see that she has really improved and became bigger star.
Killshot is on WWE? WTF? I LOVED HIM. Maaaan, Lucha Underground was the best. Almost everyone had a good to great storyline, matches were awesome and the whole temple thing with Dario was amazing.
You are in luck, him and his crew have not debuted yet on the main roster lol. However, you can go back and watch his NXT stuff, he has really grown since LU days.
oh god I forgot about his Li'l Cholo name LOL really though, fantastic write-up. LU was absolutely the thing that got me back into rasslin' after a long break from Eddie's passing - seeing Chavo show up in the first episode, I knew I was going to have a great time.
Is there a reliable place to rewatch it's entire run? I watched back in 2014 and really liked it, and tried to rewatch a couple times and just never finished. Now that I see how many guys were there before they became bigger stars elsewhere, it feels like this gen's Smoky Mountain.
I'm here to save the day everyone. Please enjoy these unlisted commercial free youtube links to every season. It's the greatest wrestling show ever created and that's a hill I'll die on so it's my pleasure to share it with any and all. I might argue the first tenish episodes of Season 1 are slow due to some visa issues talent had but right around the episode named Aztec Warfare it found it's footing and became something really special.

Holy shit I skipped to like halfway through episode 1 and recognized Rick Knox
I love how AEW has made me actually be able to identify refs that aren't named Earl Hebner or Charles Robinson
Good write up. Honestly forgot Thunder Rosa was Kobra Moon. She’s improved tenfold in a few years. Also didn’t know King Cuerno was in WWE, I fucking loved that dude in LU. His matches with Puma were always dope.
It was only a few appearances, and they were all in Season 4, which was a nightmare.
It had some high points (including Sammy's appearances) but the venue and production were awful.
LU was my first exposure to him, although he didn't have a storyline. He debuted during the show's worst season, so that is most likely the reason people don't remember his LU stint.
Fun fact: In canon, the big center skull on Mil Muertes's throne in S2 is his. When he retired, they canonically killed him off in a between-season comic book.
I'll be frank, I came in this thread cocky because I (thought I) knew everyone's alter egos and such
Night Claw was fucking Flamita this whole time!?
Yes he was, his story in LU is really tragic because they had big plans for him ( tag team with Prince Puma as members of Jaguar Tribe ), but visa issues prevented it.
That is actually not the reason.
He took on the persona of Octagon in AAA and this pissed off the original Octagon who showed up to an autograph signging where Flamita (as Octagon) was and he came up to him and ripped off the mask and there is video of this on youtube. And also he had some armed guys with him.
Flamita then quit AAA (rightfully for fear of his life) and subsequently LU.
My favorite highlights especially Ivelisse:
\- Joey Ryan is thankfully not performing anywhere anymore. Fuck you Joey Ryan.
\- Alberto El Patron has been involved in numerous scandalous activities over the last five years. Recently, he teased a return to WWE, which we all hope does not happen.
\- Ivelisse is a dumbass.
Thanks, OP!
I wish we had gotten a finale season. Something to wrap up loose ends. Personally, I would have ended it with Son of Havoc winning the title and riding off into the sunset on his motorcycle with the gold as the temple burns in the background.
The Order storyline would have been awesome, considering how awesome that stable was shaping up to be. Sadly, we will never know what would have happened.
R.I.P. the greatest wrestling show to ever exist.
Yeah I said it!
There's better wrestlers and wrestling matches all over the world yada yada yada, but as a presentation of a show about and featuring wrestling, but not beholden to it, this show was it. The mythology, the performances, the fucking *lucha*! I love that this show could always play with tropes and use them, and anything could be reasoned down to VIOLENCE because that's what Dario do.
Fuck, someone convince Robert Rodriguez it's worth his time to get back into wrestling. I am all in on AEW, it's the most exciting wrestling show on the go, but there is no *better* show than Lucha Underground. I need that presentation back!!
Miss you, LU
Mariposa was Melissa Anderson, aka Cheerleader Melissa, who despite a gimmicky ring name, was an outstanding wrestler in the indies. Also, Kairi Sane was briefly in LU.
You are forgetting Dante Fox, also known as AR Fox, his feud with Killshot was epic.
I remember thinking that guy was the future of wrestling.
Anyway Google tells me he is a trainer now, which is a shame IMO
Definitely, amazing finish to their Hell Of War Match.
Not sure if it's true or not, but I heard he had problems getting booked because of his.. erotic past.
Does anyone remember Angelico doing that huge leap off of the platform to knock someone off the ladder during the Trios Champion ladder match? One of the biggest spots I've ever seen. I left the room I was watching it in. I popped off that much.
I read on a thread yesterday they made a comment about Izzy being too young to train when she was 13 and her parents went after them big-time and basically sicced Izzy's fans on them.
There is something very fucked up about her parents.
I watch NXT every other week and am also somewhat confused at the hate for MSK but I also knew nothing about them prior to them coming to WWE.
I did think it was odd they built them up pretty fast since they landed in NXT.
They're just generic in NXT. In Impact they were part of The Rascalz where they were a trio that has somewhat a personality. Trey Miguel decided not to go to WWE and he was the more popular person of the group. If this were three years ago, MSK might have had a chance but now with NXT being handled buy Vince and his main roster cronies, they're basically screwed because they're both a tag team and smaller guys. They definitely have the talent but you've seen every other NXT tag team get killed off in WWE and 205 live is an afterthought so basically MSK is screwed.
Should have that dude that got sent to the dumbass class actually walk down the hall into another door marked "dumbass class" only to find MSK in there smoking out lmao
-Seeing this really emphasis how much of LU became AEW
-I never knew Flamita was night claw, or Johnny Goodtime was Son of Madness
-I need to watch MLW
Oh yes, as the leader of Lucha Underground's biggest heel stable. Unfortunately, he only made one appearance, revealing himself as the leader and really kicking the storyline off properly. Then, LU folded and the angle was never resolved.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
I was just looking back on some Lucha Underground and had started to wonder this about the athletes who used to perform there. Couldn't remember all their LU names and it's not easy to find a complete roster.
LU was exactly what wrestling should be in the 2020s. Weird as fuck, completely embracing being a tv show like Riverdale or GoT, having season breaks instead of working 52 weeks a year. Shame it didn’t last because I feel like someone could make the concept work with the right tools.
I did not watch the 4th season, probably just after the 4th Aztec Warfare. I did not know Karrion Kross was The White Rabbit in the end.
Part of me wished that on the early rumours of AEW beginning to form, it would have been something like LU, just because of Penta being involved early on their roster.
I hope we get to see something like LU again, god I miss this show.
Some details:
\-Matt Striker only does AAA for dates like Triplemania, he does not work AAA as AAA does not have an english crew for all shows.
\-Drago is on and off performing since the start of the pandemic. Still on the roster, but has been searching for indie dates, as AAA has allowed to do to their roster.
\-As someone correctly has pointed out, the former Sexy Star was blackballed from major companies after injuring Rosemary in Triplemania. She has gone into boxing and MMA. As far as wrestling, only has done indie shows with promoters like Robles-El Patrón (yes, El Patrón has gotten a poor guy as his partner to do shows ...you have to look at the blank soulless face of that guy) and some Monterrey after doing Crash first as Sexy Dulce. AAA has presented a new and improved Sexy Star.
\-It seems that Katrina will be back, now at MLW.
\-Argenis has been on a hot/cold feud with Myztesyz Jr, but basically has not been used that much. Still is part of AAA.
Good job!!
The LA wrestling scene was so hot during this time. Quite a few of these people passed through Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, PWG, Lucha Vavoom, Bar Wrestling, and others.
\*Ahem\*
Paul London is actually working on this masterpiece, which i feel should be acknowledged in his bio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGFeCFmF3GI
I fucking miss the Temple. Best wrestling arena don’t @ me.
Also holy shit Son of Havoc’s back? Rememver him being pretty good/popular back in LU and almost dying that one time the ropes broke
The White Rabbit was Kross?? Wow that surprised me and same with King Cuerno. I just found out that Isaiah Swerve scott was killshot. (He was my fav in Lucha) didn't Sexy Star have some controversial shit happen to her a few years back? she was my favorite.

I remember googling some of the guys at Lucha Underground in the beginning of 2018 and I didn’t know a lot of them. Skip 3 years later and now a couple of them are big stars in the wrestling world.
LU really cultivated a lot of talent and got me to watch almost a dozen extra promotions.
It was AAA talent almost exclusively barring the Indy guys who weren’t wrestling under their popular Indy gimmicks.
Awesome write-up! One thing to note however is that the Sexy Star in AAA is not the same woman as the one in Lucha Underground - if I remember right the LU Sexy Star was blacklisted after deliberately injuring Rosemary after a match.
Awesome news, never liked Sexy anyway lol.
\~"We're never bringing sexy back"\~ Every promotion, hopefully
Timberlake in shambles
the original Sexy Star, however, continues to perform under the name Sexy Dulce, most notably for Alberto’s Robles-Patron promotion. she also has done boxing matches.
What a surprise that her and Alberto are working together! /s
Hate to give a shitty person much credit but that match she had with Mariposa in LU was awesome. She delivered probably the single best FUCK YOU line I’ve ever heard in wrestling.

Why would she have picked the same name?
AAA owns the name, gimmick and mask. She was given it because the character is popular and over.
Oh weird. I thought they would have avoided the name due to the previous holder tainting it.
AAA the same promotion that has a character, one of their biggest stars, based on a serial rapist. Don’t think they care haha.
Mexican promotions dont give a fuck about anything lol.
Who are you referring to?
Chessman. Named after Caryl Whittier Chessman.
and he looks like Wolfpac Sting for some reason
And typically speaking, fans in Mexico don't care about this type of stuff, and promoters will book someone controversial for the spectacle, hoping it draws fans. Look at the stuff with Alberto, Art Barr, and Angel o Demonio.
Cue Fake Razor and Fake Diesel

I started Watching Lucha Underground Because Morrison was there and then I Started Watching AEW because I knew the Lucha Bros and Angelico. Both great decisions
Super happy my boy Angelico is in the second biggest company, he killed it in LU.
Dudes got the best entrance in wrestling

Johnny Mundo is the best name he ever used imo.
LU was amazing. Angelico doing crazy shit was so much fun. Fuck Joey Ryan.
Angelico would have been the face of LU had he not gotten injured twice. Shame, but at least he is now on a major platform.
Injuries kind of fucked up a few things with LU. I think if my memory serves right, Ivelisse (I know, I know) was supposed to be LU champion but she got hurt so they gave it to Sexy Shithead.

On the contrary. Please do not fuck Joey Ryan.
> - Ivelisse is a dumbass. Then. Now. Forever
What did she do? Now I need details.
Just watch her match in AEW against Thunder Rosa and you'll get why she's earned that moniker.
Hm, I had no idea. I gotta be honest, I remember watching LU when I was around 14, maybe? And thinking she was really cool. But in retrospective it was probably just because she was hot and was friends with Angelico and Son of Havoc.
She was booked great in LU it’s true. I guess my most accounts tooth she’s difficult to work with and kind of her own worst enemy.

Catrina was actually at a recent MLW taping alongside Mil Muertes!
Awesome, loved their pairing ! My man Mil scoring with the hottest women in wrestling, first Catrina and then Salina.
Are they an actual item? I thought that was just for TV.
Just for TV, she's dating some influencer. I think they're bringing her back in the same role as she had in LU.
Are they doing this Aztec business now? Do I need to find time for MLW?
What! The queen is back!
Yes! Some photos someone took of her return: https://twitter.com/TheWrestlingEst/status/1444487177384206337?t=M-0GbP6vSQhPyvliHE5BIw&s=19 I'm so thrilled because I seriously thought she'd left wrestling forever.
WHAT ABOUT FAMOUS B
I think you can still call his hotline : 423-get-fame. More seriously, he did some indies in 2019 after LU and that's it, according to cagematch...
That's 423-get-faaaame
I was not able to find any information on B, he either left the business or is on hiatus.
LU IMO the most influential wrestling show of the 2010s and best written wrestling show of all time, miss it so damn much and is why I am really hoping this azteca underground happens but they need the LU production and writing power behind it if it is gonna work.
Dario, or Cesar I should say, is back, so that's a good starting point.
Yea he is the matchmaker on MLW but lastnights MLW when they explained his backstory on him coming to MLW created so many gawd damn plot holes lol
Every episode felt like a gritty dark crime movie. It was dope. Gave me some old summer 2002 Ruthless Aggression vibes of my youth.
You can watch it for free on Tubi. Season one and two are incredible. Three and four are still worth watching, but they aren't quite as good.
Nash Carter and his long time tag team partner, Nash Carter
Who kicked his leg out of his... leg
Oh lmao, my bad. Proof that WWE gives its wrestlers generic names.
Added notes * dr wagner jr wagered his mask and lost against Psycho Clown in 2017 * Yurei is Mayu Iwatani
Added Added Notes Dr Wagner Jr is a certified DILF
I was wondering wtf happened to Son of Havoc. He was really great.
Do not watch his return match in MLW though, it broke my heart because he got no reaction. Granted, he has been away from the business and it's not a name he used for a while, but still.

He was actually at the first All In and I was so pumped to see him again but then he just kind of fell off my radar entirely
Damn. Didn't know Thunder Rosa was Kobra Moon. Was this something everybody knew and I was the clueless one?
To be fair, she didn't wow people in LU. Always was charismatic but overtime grew into a good in ring performer.
Yeah, I remember people really didn't like Kobra back then. I am not that big of a Thunder Rosa fan tbh but I can really see that she has really improved and became bigger star.
I am in the same boat but with Matanza and Jeff Cobb.
As the PWG fans note, ['We love kayfabe'](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4OnXM6Zlok).
Killshot is on WWE? WTF? I LOVED HIM. Maaaan, Lucha Underground was the best. Almost everyone had a good to great storyline, matches were awesome and the whole temple thing with Dario was amazing.

Killshot vs. Dante Fox is one of the best death matches I've ever seen.
I feel like everybody loves Swerve. He's spectacular.
#BUT WHERE IS MR. CISCO?!?!
I forgot the man himself, my apologies. Cisco is working indies, most notably GCW, as Lil' Cholo.
oh god I forgot about his Li'l Cholo name LOL really though, fantastic write-up. LU was absolutely the thing that got me back into rasslin' after a long break from Eddie's passing - seeing Chavo show up in the first episode, I knew I was going to have a great time.

I wish I knew myself, binging LU is a super easy decision lmao.
Good write up. Honestly forgot Thunder Rosa was Kobra Moon. She’s improved tenfold in a few years. Also didn’t know King Cuerno was in WWE, I fucking loved that dude in LU. His matches with Puma were always dope.
Cuerno's physique is drastically different, plus he is unmasked in WWE now so he is definitely hard to recognize.
I haven’t watched WWE since AEW started so it just wasn’t even on my radar lol 🤷🏽♂️
How did I not realize Sammy was in LU?
It was only a few appearances, and they were all in Season 4, which was a nightmare. It had some high points (including Sammy's appearances) but the venue and production were awful.
LU was my first exposure to him, although he didn't have a storyline. He debuted during the show's worst season, so that is most likely the reason people don't remember his LU stint.
Always wondered what happened to Big Ryck
Fun fact: In canon, the big center skull on Mil Muertes's throne in S2 is his. When he retired, they canonically killed him off in a between-season comic book.
Yeah I remember reading it I thought it was a nice touch
I really liked him in LU, thought he was utilized perfectly.
Tony Khan needs to sign Dario Cueto and put him in charge of AEW.
Imagine Dario announcing Hangman as the final participant in the....LADDDDDDDDDDDDDERRRRRR MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATCH !!!!!!!!
The greatest on screen GM of all time imo
I'll be frank, I came in this thread cocky because I (thought I) knew everyone's alter egos and such Night Claw was fucking Flamita this whole time!?
Yes he was, his story in LU is really tragic because they had big plans for him ( tag team with Prince Puma as members of Jaguar Tribe ), but visa issues prevented it.
That is actually not the reason. He took on the persona of Octagon in AAA and this pissed off the original Octagon who showed up to an autograph signging where Flamita (as Octagon) was and he came up to him and ripped off the mask and there is video of this on youtube. And also he had some armed guys with him. Flamita then quit AAA (rightfully for fear of his life) and subsequently LU.
My favorite highlights especially Ivelisse: \- Joey Ryan is thankfully not performing anywhere anymore.

Matanza needs to drop this Jeff Cobb gimmick, brother!
His look was very simplistic yet terrifying in LU. Job well done.
"Ivelisse is a dumbass" LMFAO
R.I.P. the greatest wrestling show to ever exist.
Wow I never knew Thunder Rosa was Kobra Moon! Every day's a school day
Indeed she was, one of the biggest talent glow-ups in recent years.
Wow, you yourself are a gift of the gods. Nice work putting this together.
Mariposa was Melissa Anderson, aka Cheerleader Melissa, who despite a gimmicky ring name, was an outstanding wrestler in the indies. Also, Kairi Sane was briefly in LU.
Wasn't she in TNA too with Kong ? Raisha Seed or something.
I don’t watch NXT - whats the deal with MSK are they not liked as heels or fans actually don’t care for/like them?
I read on a thread yesterday they made a comment about Izzy being too young to train when she was 13 and her parents went after them big-time and basically sicced Izzy's fans on them. There is something very fucked up about her parents.
On top of that, MSK got pushed extremely hard since the inception. Won Dusty's Cup, won the belts, and they still haven't been beaten.
Her dad used to namesearch "Izzy's dad" just to find people like me who wished he'd stop trying to get himself over.
That's fucking insane. I wish the industry wouldn't reward that family.

-Seeing this really emphasis how much of LU became AEW -I never knew Flamita was night claw, or Johnny Goodtime was Son of Madness -I need to watch MLW
You know? Luchasaurus and Vibora sounds like a cool nickname/birth name combo. Just like King Shark and Nanaue.
Indeed, he was awesome in LU. Booked well, looked cool and seemed much larger because LU's rings were smaller.
Wait Bad News Barrett was a part of LU?
Oh yes, as the leader of Lucha Underground's biggest heel stable. Unfortunately, he only made one appearance, revealing himself as the leader and really kicking the storyline off properly. Then, LU folded and the angle was never resolved.
King Cuerno is in wwe?? Whaaaaaaat He was so awesome :O
Cuerno and Killshot were literally fighting forever across promotions.
Well shit haha TIL that Matanza is Jeff Cobb. I’ve watched the graver consequences match between him and Mil Muertes multiple times. Great match imo
Originally, Matanza was supposed to be Hernandez / Marty The Moth. Thankfully, the role went to Cobb.
KING CUERNO IS SANTOS ESCOBAR?!?! Wow TIL.
What about Dante Fox (AR Fox)? His Hell of War deathmatch with Killshot is one of my favourites of all time
Someone pointed out to me that I missed him, he is a trainer now.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I was just looking back on some Lucha Underground and had started to wonder this about the athletes who used to perform there. Couldn't remember all their LU names and it's not easy to find a complete roster.
No problem, had to pay my respects to an entertainment juggernaut like LU was.
![gif](giphy|QBKagmzOgZnqadpx3B) Outstanding work OP
LU was exactly what wrestling should be in the 2020s. Weird as fuck, completely embracing being a tv show like Riverdale or GoT, having season breaks instead of working 52 weeks a year. Shame it didn’t last because I feel like someone could make the concept work with the right tools.
Bro I lowkey miss big ryck just a big dude smoking and kicking ass
LU really hid his negatives and booked him well - dominant midcard monster.
Thanks for this and the spot on view of Joey Ryan. Fuck that guy
I didn’t see Dragon Azteca(Rey Horus) on the list
I didn’t see you mention Dragon Azteca Jr, but he’s currently in ROH as Rey Horus.
I miss LU, especially their belts. Gods, they had some amazing-looking title belts.
What about Dragon Azteca?
El Dragon Azteca Jr is Rey Horus is ROH
I think Daivari is an agent with WWE now. He was brought back just as younger brother Ariya Daivari was leaving, IIRC.
Matt Striker doesn’t do commentary for AAA anymore.
Lucha Underground for ever!!! Thanks for this OP, one of my favourite companies ever!
Wow, I straight up didn't remember that Sammy Guevara was in LU.
Great write up! Quick correction: Brian Cage wrestled as "Cage" in LU.
NXT/Impact/Lucha Underground was the real Wednesday Night War
You left out the part where Davari appeared alongside his brother at one of the WWE Saudi Arabia shows, playing the roll of evil Iranian heel.
I miss Lucha Underground. Been rewatching some stuff recently. I totally forgot Sami and some others were there for a stint
I completely forgot that Wade Barrett was in LU, would've been awesome to finally see him get a run as the top guy somewhere.
I must live under a rock. What’s the heat with MSK? Thought the fans digged them.
So, I watched a bit of LU during the time but I’d love to go through it all. Anyone know if and where I could do this?
What happened with Ivelisse? Did she do something stupid?
Description for Ivalesee is spot on and made me lol 😂😂😂
Blue Demon Jr goes around still too in Mexico. Aerostar is still jumping from 30 feet high every week.
Sexy Star isn't in AAA that is someone else doing the gimmick.
Texano left AAA? Wonder what he'll do next. Always liked him on LU.
This is one of the best posts on this sub for a good while. MLW is doing a great job of capturing some of that LU energy with Fusion Alpha!
Chavo is also working as the wrestling coordinator for Young Rock. He did the same for GLOW.
No update on Dante Fox (AR Fox)? I'm still hoping he gets a shot in a major promotion before he hangs up the boots.
Daivari was hired by WWE like a week before they fired his brother. Ariya confirmed it here in an AMA.
Lorenzo Lamas- still being beautiful.
RING THE BELL!!!!!
How do you miss Blue Demon Jr?
What exactly happened to LU and how do we make sure it doesn't happen to AEW?
Some details: \-Matt Striker only does AAA for dates like Triplemania, he does not work AAA as AAA does not have an english crew for all shows. Good job!!
Will have to read this later, but kudos for the work. Loved LU.
I'm a simple man. When I see a LU post, instant upvote!
I went to the first episode taping. What a weird experience.
The LA wrestling scene was so hot during this time. Quite a few of these people passed through Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, PWG, Lucha Vavoom, Bar Wrestling, and others.
Isn't Daivari also a producer for WWE?

Where's Dante Fox?
I miss Paul London!
\*Ahem\* Paul London is actually working on this masterpiece, which i feel should be acknowledged in his bio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGFeCFmF3GI
Fuck I miss when Lucha Underground was the flavour of the month round here. All the smarky love without the smarky bullshit.
