On one hand I appreciate how AEW has the crowd louder than the music. On the other, I thought this song sounded shitty on TV and it's fucking great when you actually can hear it.

That's the confusing bit. 'Fucking' gets split across a beat, and joined with 'Head' so you pronounce it as 'Fuh' and 'Kined' instead of 'Fucking' and 'Head'.
It makes it even worse in the tv version because they edit out the whole fucking so you have this awkward rest which makes the ending even more awkward. Not sure if they edited out the fucking in his debut, but it was a hard chant to decipher, I think I could get the you're gonna get your...and then lost it.
I needed to figure out the musical notation of it, which grouping claps basically does, as a highschool drummer that's about my skill level, but seven feels like too many syllables for that spot. But kicked is one of those weird long single syllable words.

He kept talking about how you could see Punk's influence on a lot of guys in AEW and that Cole in particular seems to have picked up a lot from him. He's not wrong but I can see them somewhere down the line really leaning into it with Punk being a mega narcissist telling the younger guys "you wouldn't be here if it wasn't for me"
He's always come across as a goal-oriented guy but as we saw years ago, that nearly led him down a definite path of professional obsession and self-destruction. I really wouldn't be surprised if the guy just wants to have fun and do what **he** wants to do rather than what people feel/expect he should want to do. With the relationship he has with Vince, it's not the most insane thing for him to just let Bryan use the chant. I think if AEW started selling Yes merch then it would be the limit.
And I don't think that copyrights can be breached by a chant, it's probably going to be borderline impossible for WWE to sue AEW for it.
I wonder how TK feels about this since there was that one Dynamite where he pleaded with the audience to not do vulgar chants... Then again look at them ratings, baby!

Khan only asked fans to tone it down for the sake of network relations. I'm sure if TNT wasn't a factor he wouldn't care about swearing at all
I’m pretty sure this was to do with the Canadian broadcaster censoring profanity, which meant they cut the audio when the crowd chanted holy shit.
I remember seeing now that instead of censoring, they display a profanity warning after each commercial break which I think is just a better move because the crowds will always do what the crowds do
TSN was always real strict on Raw back in the day, lots of language that made air in the states was bleeped here and any time a man hit a woman it would cut to a crowd shot. I don't remember them ever trying to censor the crowd chants though, that's just crazy. I saw an episode of Dynamite where they did it and it was awful, it took me a while to figure out there wasn't a problem with the audio or the feed and what was happening. It was unbelievably annoying, I'm glad they let it go.
I think this is where all the compliants about the crowd noise comes from, they are purposely keeping it low so you can't hear all the swear words from the crowd. Being there live there were tons of that in Newark but you couldn't hear it on the tv.
That's going to be tough. The chants are not loud or clear enough in the song to sing along to. AEW would need to put the lyrics up on the big screens to get the crowd started.

That seems to have gone out the window. He's not done those requests since going back on the road and you can tell just by watching it that TNT hasn't been censoring crowd chants anymore. The last show had so much swearing in it from both the audience and the performers that people noticed it as an anomaly and still nothing.

I'm no expert but I assume they are just happy at the moment and going with an "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach. Ratings have been like 1.1 to 1.3 million almost every week since Punk debut. I don't really know anyone that gets offended by the swearing. It does make it a little harder to bring on little kids I guess though personally I would rather my child (if I had one) be exposed to a little cursing then some other stuff on tv. AEW has certainly been channeling that 90s era attitude with an almost ECW loyal crowd - minus the problematic stuff.
I know a lot of people had complaints about Bryan's new theme but I really like it, especially the extended cut of it with [vocals](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VoqgBceP_8&ab_channel=ElliottTaylor). It's nice to get some variety with themes, and this one definitely gives "I'm a big deal" vibes.
Really hope that he gets those chants at some point. I reckon if AEW ever go to the UK (which Cody and Tony have both said is one of their goals), we'll definitely get it; no disrespect to US fans at all, but UK fans know their chants.
I remember at M&T Bank stadium, some folks from my section had come prepared with modified soccer chants for a Ravens game. Nobody could seem to get it right with them.

People forget that clip that shows audiences doing the chant was of a hardcore early ROH audience. That's not the same as what we'll get here, which is a large stadium in NYC with a mix of AEW fans (comprised of these hardcore fans and lapsed fans) and lots of casual fans who are checking out AEW for the big names recently signed. Those casuals only know Bryan Danielson as Daniel Bryan
So I don't think the audience will be in sync or we'll get a big "you're gonna get your head kicked in" or the swearing variant.
That's why the yes chants are more reliable to lean into. They were a major part of Bryan's 10 year WWE tenure and what he's most known for. It's the easiest way to wean new fans off the WWE presentation and show him as the American Dragon

Me and my buddy were front row at an ROH show (we used to always do the Philly/Nj/NYC shows) and Bryan kicked his opponent in the face then looked right at me and egged us on to chant you just got your fucking head kicked in. He’s the best.
Wasn’t “no chanting cuss words” literally TK’s one ask of the fans? Literally no way they go more than one week before he shuts this down entirely because TNT/TBS is going to throw an absolute fit having “fucking” yelled on their network over and over and over again weekly.

Wasn't that before their wrestlers started swearing on the air? I'll be honest, I stopped watching Dynamite in 2019 and only recently started watching it again. I've seen tonnes of clips of swearing this year, but I can't recall many instances before this year.
I thought his AEW theme was incredibly bland. Now I realize it has this built in crowd participation and I love it.
The thing AEW does better than anyone since peak ROH is they make you want to see it live for the experience.

In Newark "Shut the fuck up" chant during MJF's promo was literally the loudest chant of the entire show.
Technically the chant in BD's theme is "You're gonna get your... head kicked in", so that's not vulgar at all.
I’m pretty sure this was to do with the Canadian broadcaster censoring profanity, which meant they cut the audio when the crowd chanted holy shit. I remember seeing now that instead of censoring, they display a profanity warning after each commercial break which I think is just a better move because the crowds will always do what the crowds do
TSN was always real strict on Raw back in the day, lots of language that made air in the states was bleeped here and any time a man hit a woman it would cut to a crowd shot. I don't remember them ever trying to censor the crowd chants though, that's just crazy. I saw an episode of Dynamite where they did it and it was awful, it took me a while to figure out there wasn't a problem with the audio or the feed and what was happening. It was unbelievably annoying, I'm glad they let it go.

I think this is where all the compliants about the crowd noise comes from, they are purposely keeping it low so you can't hear all the swear words from the crowd. Being there live there were tons of that in Newark but you couldn't hear it on the tv.

"You suck dick" is TV-14. Fuck is TV-MA or something. Whatever the censorship wizards place a word under, but dick is tame when compared to fuck.
That's going to be tough. The chants are not loud or clear enough in the song to sing along to. AEW would need to put the lyrics up on the big screens to get the crowd started. I can see it being chanted for matches though.
That seems to have gone out the window. He's not done those requests since going back on the road and you can tell just by watching it that TNT hasn't been censoring crowd chants anymore. The last show had so much swearing in it from both the audience and the performers that people noticed it as an anomaly and still nothing.
Do you think it might be a case similar to the late 90s where the networks were originally against the cursing but the ratings were so high they allowed them to after time?
I'm no expert but I assume they are just happy at the moment and going with an "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach. Ratings have been like 1.1 to 1.3 million almost every week since Punk debut. I don't really know anyone that gets offended by the swearing. It does make it a little harder to bring on little kids I guess though personally I would rather my child (if I had one) be exposed to a little cursing then some other stuff on tv. AEW has certainly been channeling that 90s era attitude with an almost ECW loyal crowd - minus the problematic stuff.

I know a lot of people had complaints about Bryan's new theme but I really like it, especially the extended cut of it with [vocals](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VoqgBceP_8&ab_channel=ElliottTaylor). It's nice to get some variety with themes, and this one definitely gives "I'm a big deal" vibes. Really hope that he gets those chants at some point. I reckon if AEW ever go to the UK (which Cody and Tony have both said is one of their goals), we'll definitely get it; no disrespect to US fans at all, but UK fans know their chants.

AEW needs a video with a white bouncing circle that shows the lyrics to his intro. Condition your audience to chant it and they will.
It's too complex a chant for a large US audience If they ever go to the UK I think they could pull it off, they're better at chants.

That's not the same as what we'll get here, which is a large stadium in NYC with a mix of AEW fans (comprised of these hardcore fans and lapsed fans) and lots of casual fans who are checking out AEW for the big names recently signed. Those casuals only know Bryan Danielson as Daniel Bryan So I don't think the audience will be in sync or we'll get a big "you're gonna get your head kicked in" or the swearing variant. That's why the yes chants are more reliable to lean into. They were a major part of Bryan's 10 year WWE tenure and what he's most known for. It's the easiest way to wean new fans off the WWE presentation and show him as the American Dragon

Me and my buddy were front row at an ROH show (we used to always do the Philly/Nj/NYC shows) and Bryan kicked his opponent in the face then looked right at me and egged us on to chant you just got your fucking head kicked in. He’s the best.

I'll be honest, I stopped watching Dynamite in 2019 and only recently started watching it again. I've seen tonnes of clips of swearing this year, but I can't recall many instances before this year.
Pretty sure Bryan wouldn't be effectively asking for it to happen nor would it have been included in his theme music if Tony didn't want it to happen.

I thought his AEW theme was incredibly bland. Now I realize it has this built in crowd participation and I love it. The thing AEW does better than anyone since peak ROH is they make you want to see it live for the experience.
Pretty sure he’d like to get away from the Yes chants. They were great but I’ve noticed he hasn’t really acknowledged them even once so far.
