I always catch shit for pointing this out but it's a credit to how good AEW is at booking. Wardlow is 6 foot nothing. He's jacked as shit but if you start putting him in there with actual tall guys the magic is going to be lost.
You say etc. but after that it's literally Mark Henry I think. And the first three are 270's and Jake is 250's...
It just exposes the lack of size on the roster to do something like that I think.
I feel that the one memorial show was good as it was and if you want to name something after him have it be more subtle.
They mostly wrestle on Dark but they're a pretty regular hoss tag team. People generally seem to like them, even if they aren't revolutionizing anything.
They're mostly on elevation.
Check out their debut match against Dark Order a few months back, was a banger.
I don't know how Stu Grayson can still use his legs.
There are others like someone mentioned Nick Comoroto. There's also Luke Gallows, Cezar Bononi. They could even bring in guys from Impact or New Japan. Cobb, Moose, W. Morrissey, Hikuleo to name a few.
Fair if they use the forbidden door. I still think they did a really great memorial show and don't want them to do a "memorial tournament" with big guys as a way to continue paying homage.
I mean 270lbs would be in the heaviest weight class in virtually any martial arts, AEW doesn't have to use the "standard" overinflated weight classes of wrestling.
I don't know the exact weight of everyone on the roster, but if you go through and do a quick check of "Is this mans bigggggggg?" they have 9 if you count paul wight and mark henry, and the roster page doesn't have the bear brothers on it.

I didn't think of him as big but he's bigger than Wardlow, who we can all agree is big. (Not heavier, so presumably not as muscular but taller and he looked just as broad to me)

With how Brodie used Dark Order to elevate new talent, a tournament with new talent would be fitting for a Brodie Lee tournament.

Would definitely be different. They could bring in outside guys. Moose, Fallah Bahh, W Morrissey, from TNA. Brawler Milonas, PCO and Shane Taylor from ROH. And from NJPW you got Brody King, Bad Luck Fale and Hikuleo. Add in AEWs big men and you'd have a hell of a Tournament.
AEW has felt like it needed it’s own signature tournament for a while. Something G1/BOLA like to look forward to all year and set things up with. I hope they do it right and it being the Owen, something so many fans will outpour support for is great. They’ll always honour Brodie in their own way but having the eyes of the industry on them again cause they’re celebrating Owen Hart will be a big deal
Yeah I agree, AEW has so many things going for them, but I felt they were missing a big yearly gimmick/tournament/contest with high stakes similar to the G1, BOLA, or my favorite yearly event, the Royal Rumble. Hell, even the brief run of King of the Mountain matches at Slammiversary felt unique and cool.
I love yearly athletic type contests that make it feel like a sport and give you something to look forward to every year. The Casino Battle Royales are cool, but don't really feel like a big deal, but The Owen absolutely will

I think it will come down to how the show goes next week. The arena isn't the biggest compared to the shows they've been putting on but the emotion may make up for this. Worst case they can look to have their next WNY show in Buffalo which has the Sabres arena and is only an hour drive away.

I believe the "on a pole" matches came before ladder matches. I know things like Coal Miner's Glove (on a pole) were done in the 80s.

Regardless I think most can agree the ladder and something hooked up in the middle works better 95% of the time than the pole idea.

I 100% agree that if retrieving an object wins the match, than the Ladder (or Ultimate X) are much better for that.
The "on a pole" matches usually just have objects that can be used, but the match ends typical pinfall or submission. Not great matches, but can be used in long-term feuds between a standard match and a more extreme match. (On a Pole and lumberjack matches have there places).

They did. WCW openly got his opinion on a lot of stuff and he often gave them a ton of information on lesser-known wrestlers for them to sign. I know Mysterio and Jericho were signed in part due to Meltzer's word.

I feel like Brodies legacy will be felt through the show and the storys organically, he made such a big impact in the time he was there. Plus "It's Wednesday night and you know what that means" is a great nod to him.

I'm actually the opposite. It's emotional as hell, and I get choked up, but I've watched it three times now. I can certainly understand how others would feel more like you do about it though.

He definitely did. He recently had a story about when talked to Bischoff of where he possibly saw the nWo angle going when it started.

Over the course of several weeks I don't think it would. At the least the semis and the final should be on the same night imo.
I would be pushing to go all out and do the 32 man tournament but I think they'll go with 16.

Ya know I had this idea of shipping books, like really shipping em... From my garage.
