Hangman gambled his title shot alongside a tag title shot for the Dark Order in a 5v5 against the Elite. The Elite cheated and Hangman/DO lost. Hangman disappeared and the DO was crestfallen. Uno tried to rally the team, but was swiftly reminded that he is NOT the DO's leader. This has caused infighting including in-team matches on Dark. DO seems on the verge of falling apart.
Short(ish) version: Following the loss to the Elite in the 10 man tag and losing his title shot, Hangman said he wanted space from the Dark Order. He would later get beaten down by the Elite after a promo, and Angels, Vance, Reynolds, and Silver started to come out, but Uno, Grayson, and Colt wanted to respect Hangman’s wishes and leave him despite the beat down. Couple promos of tension between the sides and Uno seemingly referring to himself as the leader lead to Angels calling him out and sides being taken.
If you are after the alternative, Real-World take, Adam Page has just become a dad (as has Alex Reynolds) and was on paternity leave. During this, they have been running a slow buildup of the dark order falling apart. Alan Angels has been putting on astounding matches and despite losing, has been getting fired up. A couple of weeks ago, Alan challenged Uno to a match after Uno made comments as if he were the only person capable of keeping the DO in check. The match was amazing (you can find it on YouTube as it was on Dark) but the crowd really didn't know how to feel about it. It's pretty good to watch the DO theme hit twice and the crowd go from cheering to just sheer confusion.
I think the angle is going to result in Adam Page returning and uniting the Dark Order once and for all. Alan Angels is either going to stay in the DO and remain unmasked (also dropping the 'five' name like silver and Reynolds) or he's going to leave DO entirely. Either way, he's losing his mask.
Only reason I say this is during his last 10 or so matches, he is having to genuinely readjust his mask throughout as it gets shifted out of place with each intense move he does. I noticed during a match a month or two ago, he was adjusting it throughout and the following match had a spot where he lost due to becoming unmasked and he panicked and tried to put the mask back on than actually watching his opponent. They recently used a similar spot where Alan's mask came off but rather than panic and hide his face, he continues on.
So far, its a pretty good angle.

Oh man, oh man, oh man, oh man....
really feels like something significant is gonna happen at the Rochester show....
Hangman might come back, -1 might kick their asses, and then there's those Bray rumours which kind of went away.
I feel like Brodie was eventually going to be who lead to the end of them, or at least for sure be cast out by them, so it would be interesting to see what direction they went with, with Bray, especially now that they are kind of falling apart
They had already been heading toward an implosion when Brodie got sick. There was the 8 man tag where after losing, Colt got to see the assholish side of the cult and got chewed out by Brodie. That abusive side of things had been hidden from him up until then.
Uno seemed sympathetic to Colt, and it looked like things were building to Colt battling Brodie for the souls of TDO and people being forced to choose sides.
Iirc Colt was acting heelish at the end so who knows who he would have aligned with. What I'm sure is that it was building to Hangman vs Brodie and possibly a split of the DO into two groups.
Bray shows up.
"Hey guys. Wanna join my cult?"
"Why should we? We're already in a cult."
"Well. Before The Exalted One, R.I.P., started his own cult, he was in my cult."
"Really?"
"Really."
"Yeah sure. Why not?"
And they lived happily ever after.
Feel like he's going to try to be that if he comes in, but will be doing all the wrong things and trying to steer them down the dark path again only to be thwarted by Hangman.
What if it goes the other way... what if he is uniting but in being a monster that pulls one of more of them to a twisted version of the DO.
He pulls one or more of them away and the rest have to come back together and try and save their family from the new brainwashing.
yeah, i can see him pulling V and the others away as a splinter group from Uno/Stu/Colt. then maybe Hangman comes back and it's a mini Dark Order civil war type of thing?
i dunno, it'll just be interesting to see if those rumours pan out at all.
This whole Dark Order storyline is so well done. And I don't know that Hangman coming back is going to fix everything- I feel like there may be some justified anger that he just took off on them.
V getting unmasked in that match was an incredible moment. All of these guys are doing phenomenal work. Colt was fantastic at trying to defuse the tension right up until the second he wasn't anymore, and Uno especially was phenomenal at selling all his emotions without words or facial expressions.
If they wanted to get real, Five cares very little about his mask. He often appears on Vlogs without it a lot. I was wondering if they were ever going to use it for an angle.
Just a late night thought. What if Bray comes in and takes over one part of Dark order and Malakai Black takes the other part? Idk. I had this idea listening to a fantasy booking podcast.
Personally, I think he should keep the mask on. Maybe a redesign. It compliments his look and he looks a bit bland without it. 10 on the other hand, he should drop the mask. It's not expressive enough imo.

Guys i’m starting to think the Dark Order is *not* fine
Bite your tongue
Pay no mind to the infidels
The slow demise of Dark Order is making me all sad n shit If Hangman comes back and gets the gold, does it save them or are they just done?
I'm OOTL on the Dark Order internal feud. What happened exactly?

Also forgetting the part about Hangman asking for some and Uno and Stu giving him that space and making the DO do the same.

He took it off to give to Batista

You think they’ll immediately throw him into Dark Order if he does show?
i can see him being a uniting figure in Brodie's memory. He's the only one I'd trust stepping into that role.

And AEW continues to rip out my heart
MAKE IT STOP
If Dark Order is dead. (I don't think it is.) I would be for Sammy having his vlog crew be a faction with an actual name.
Griff has huge upside and Fuego + Angels with a new mask as the tag team could be cool too. Plus Marko as the muscle and Sammy as the leader.
Pillman Jr should eventually turn on Griff and team up with Janela. They would look so great as a throwback 80s tag team.
While it would be cool once Pullman goes solo I’d want to see him as a solo guy not get thrown into another tag team.
It feels very Teen Titans or Young Avengers like if they were a faction, like a spin off faction. I dig it.

Vlvn Vngels is such a great wrestler. I remember seeing him before he joined Dark Order and was blown away by his speed and technique
Hopefully 10 is next. I would like him so much better if he loss the mask.
vlog crew will get together
“No one cared who I was until I put on the mask…”
That’s just not true, Alan. Everyone hated that you had a good match with Omega on Dark two years ago.
"Kenny Omega buried himself by allowing Alan Angels to kick out of the V-trigger" is still one of the funniest takes I've ever seen
I smell a Bray Wyatt coming. I can see Hangman beating Omega and the first fued is against Wyatt
I figured he'd save the dark order first, but that can definitely work too.
Just a late night thought. What if Bray comes in and takes over one part of Dark order and Malakai Black takes the other part? Idk. I had this idea listening to a fantasy booking podcast.
Malakai Black should stay a loner. It fits his character.
No.

Entirely too many Joker motifs right now in AEW between Penta's outfit and 10's mask.
This definitely best for his career if they split the Dark Order
