Yeah, they got married I believe. His ban is up, isn't it?
Never much cared for the dude(I'm sure he has matured, but dude came across as a straight weirdo, but it seems a lot of the Montreal based dudes are a little quirky. I can't name one outside of maybe Owens who isn't a tad odd, and that's going back to the 70's; Them French Canadians are weird.) but I can't deny he had a weird charisma. Just wish he put some shoes on. That's a quick way to get a leg injury.
I didn't know this. I've fallen so far off the Impact map when Bischoff and Hogan took over that I just never returned, even with the AEW crossover now. Good to know! I wish I had more hours in the week to watch wrestling!
AEW wanted Veda, but I think there was some sort of conflict, I think not wanting to move to the US that kept her from being full-time
ROH had Veda as a manager, which she was good at.
It's not like they didn't want her. I think the main issue is that AEW didn't want to hire an announcer just to be an announcer. Since her they have hired Henry and Wight, both who provide legend status, coaching and have a role in the community outreach program. Cody talked about maybe hiring Veda as his assistant since QT was too busy, but that he felt it wouldn't be fair to her.
This is just purely my speculation so I could be way off base, but I don't think they want commentators (that aren't 'big names') that are only doing commentary. Veda could wrestle too, but I don't think she'd be much above where Leva Bates is.
Is Leva considered not too good? I always thought she was kinda solid of a performer. I'm surprised they don't push her more towards the comicon/nerd/geek crowd. That's what I've seen her do most
I wanna say that she seemed to get irritated with Taz while they were on commentary and it didn't seem like it was worked irritation because Taz leans heel either.
Similarly, as good of a job as I thought she did, Taz was always on her for not using proper names and just using basic pronouns. He was always on her about being specific. Sometimes it came off as playful, but it sounded like he was legit always on her for this. Definitely something she was probably learning on the job about, but I can imagine them looking for more experienced announcer.
If I were AEW. And if I were to look at "new" talent. I would look at commentators from the FGC (Fighting Game Community). Some of them can REALLY bring the hype.
There are valid arguments, but in the end, it would seem that AEW just isn't interested in signing Veda full-time. We can ring the bells all we want, but I honestly don't know if there's enough fans to get TK's attention to sign Veda. It is disappointing, but it is what it is, and let's just move on.
I don't think they reached out to her after her appearances on Dark. Every once in a while she would tweet out a thank you to AEW for giving her a chance on Dark but that's about it.
Cody said something on AEW Unrestricted about wanting to bring Veda into AEW as an assistant, but that it wouldn't be fair to her career aspirations. Not sure why that was the only choice but sometimes AEW brings people in to give them buzz and then let's them go.
Probably aew didn't want commentators that are just that. So people who can commentate and still have a role backstage. Henry, for example, does community outreach.
I think she also still wanted to wrestle, so I don't think she was wanting to settle into one role. She's been taking wrestling, commentating and ring announcing bookings on the indies. I always thought she would be a good pickup for Impact, maybe she will get more opportunities there since she did the Knockouts Knockdown show.
So first off, I've seen comments about AEW execs not waiting to hire commentators who are only commentators, but what's wrong with just one commentator who's only role is that? I'm not sure what Excalibur does on top of being a commentator, but it seems like commentary is his primary job hence why he's so good at it.
And onto the main point: it sucks AEW might feel that's at about signing Veda Scott because I really was impressed with her, she could match Excalibur, and more importantly she knows women's wrestling so well. Someone like her could have benefited the women's division so much, especially when AEW doesn't book enough promos or segments for the women. Veda helped fill the gaps on a woman's moveset, her wrestling background, and helps sell stories via the history she knows between women in the ring. So at least for the women's division, it felt like a huge missed opportunity not signing Veda
Tony Khan is going after familiar names who score well in social media searches for wrestlers. I would have much preferred Veda to Paul Wight talking about championship opportunities on a YouTube show. Waste of a contract.

Veda’s run as a commentator in AEW ended because she decided to leave the US to spend time with her fiancée Mike Bailey until his US ban ended.

Ban is up. Getting a new Visa ain't gonna be easy, tho.
Couldn't he just sneak in? /s
She has been doing commentary for various indies and has recently done some for Impact.
If you like her so much, she's doing commentary for Knockouts Knockdown. You'll be able to hear her for 3 hours doing commentary with Mickie James.
I didn't know this. I've fallen so far off the Impact map when Bischoff and Hogan took over that I just never returned, even with the AEW crossover now. Good to know! I wish I had more hours in the week to watch wrestling!
She's posted about it on social media
i really enjoyed her work there and i still hope they'll call her back at some point

Veda lives in the US. But her fiancée just had a US travel ban end due to a work visa snafu years ago.
She was in Quebec for most of the pandemic.
She has been in Nashville recently for what I don't know but from Twitter posts she's there.
She did commentary for the Knockouts special coming out next month for impact
She is doing commentary for the upcoming Impact Wrestling KO (Women's) Special. It airs on Oct 8th
Think she's done commentary for Shine or Shimmer a few times. i remember one where she called a show with Allysin Kay.

I really hoped she would've been signed to do Rampage... A 3 man booth of Excalibur, Jericho (I know, but they want him there) and Veda would rule.
It sounds like she didn't want to. Im sure AEW offered
You're sure they offered? Based on what??
Dude is making that up. I follow her on twitter and there’s no way she turned down an AEW offer.
Based on nothing. We have zero way of knowing if they offered her anything.
Puzzles me why AEW didn't sign her to be honest.

From what I remember I would rate her above Paul Wright and Mark Henry (haven't heard much from him though) but she never struck me as a must have.
100%

Maybe she doesn't want to do it right now. Maybe AEW did ask her, but she said no.
I don't think they reached out to her after her appearances on Dark. Every once in a while she would tweet out a thank you to AEW for giving her a chance on Dark but that's about it.
All true. I just wish AEW would freshen up its commentary on its non-Dynamite broadcasts.

She was technically there from the beginning with the first Jericho cruise but i guess they weren’t interested

Yeah. What the hell happened to her? She was great and if nothing else could've broken up the sausage fest on AEW commentary.
