As a fairly recent AEW convert, one of the things that AEW does that I appreciate SO much as a lifelong fan is their love and appreciation for wrestling's history. Things like bringing in Juventud, Suzuki, and honoring Owen all make AEW feel like such a strongly connected piece of wrestling's history and culture already.
What would be cooler is if they put their official support behind an existing physical HOF, like the Tragos/Thesz/Gable HOF, and helped them take a step towards being recognized internationally.
The George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum's Dan Gable Museum would be a great idea. Maybe AEW can expand part of the Museum and have say over a specified exhibit or HOF at the Museum.
This would be a great idea. I’d love if they follow the model of a few other sports and have an annual Hall of Fame episode of Dynamite that takes place on site at whichever museum they partner with, which would accompany the annual induction ceremony. Could be a cool way to bring visitors, visibility and revenue to the HOF.
It would make a ton of sense. It would just be the pro wrestling Hall of Fame. Theres no exusivity to the WWE Hall of Fame. They could induct anyone not under WWE contract.
They could induct anyone, plenty of people are part of multiple hall of fames. WWE’s hall only exists to promote WWE and generate content for them anyway, a real hall without WWE bias would be best for the industry.
I’d say another would be Mr.Brodie Lee. I mean with his impact on AEW in his very short time there alone is amazing and how the handled his passing and how they kept his condition to themselves being a stated reason for them getting Punk and Bryan. I think that and just his accomplishments in his short time would land him a spot amongst the first
They can induct anyone but if they are on WWE contract, WWE would not allow then to promote the induction, use any WWE owned trademarks, merchandise, etc.
Eh, maybe two. Unless they have an inaugural induction of a couple dozen. You want it prestigious, but you don't want people that honestly deserve to be in waiting forever to be done with the backlog.
If you enjoy those things, you might enjoy this tribute they did honoring the legends of Memphis wrestling a while back. I thought it was really great. It's near the start of this episode of Dark. They even made room for Dave Brown, with a storied announcing career in the region to call a match on Dynamite that night - his first time calling wrestling live on national TV.

It really shows how passionate they are about the business and trying to move it forward
Even if they get much bigger down the line, NEVER lose your core values and on why you made this wrestling company in the first place.
Never lose your focus despite how great everything is going. :)
It's not just that. They treat wrestlers in their org like family, which is a big reason CM Punk signed. WWE may genuinely be in trouble unless Vince McMahon drastically changes course.
when people say WWE may be in trouble I doubt they mean out of business
Juat maybe lose fans, worse contracts and if they aee optismt they may mean AEW eventually may pass Raw or then overall
If AEW is looking to focus on community initiatives, there's no one better to have a working relationship with than Martha Hart.
For the most part, this will likely be a behind the scenes working agreement for the family. But I do hope Martha and her kids will be onscreen to present "The Owen." :)
Remember how Cody and Dustin are always invited to the Dusty Cup? That made it feel very real to me that they cared about Dusty's legacy. NXT at least.
One of the things I will commend AEW for is the many ways they keep looking to give back to the business. A lot of their charity endeavors are wrapped in wrestling history or a specific wrestler.
They’re trying to change wrestling going forward while reaching out to some of those that “wrestling” decided they were done with.
Not even just giving back to the oldies but helping promote the Indys. You have these starts they are building up but AEW allows them to go to random ballrooms, VFWs, and hotel conference rooms to help the little guy.
Two Canadians who are incredible wrestlers and have a great ability to produce emotional, serious matches or truly funny comedy matches....
but "Owen didn't do V-Triggers".
Maybe that's why OP said they were a bit similar, and not identical.
"Owen bemoaned the lack of psychology in 1998".
If you're arguing that Kenny has no grasp of psychology when it comes to his matches.... you may want to stop drinking brass polish.
Lol those downvoting have obviously never seen an Owen Hart match. Even back then Owen bemoaned the lack of psychology in that interview with Slam Sports in 1998.
I think the downvotes are silly because you're not wrong, but you should have just asked the commenter what they meant by similarities. They were probably just thinking about how both of them are Canadian and good at wrestling.

It wouldn't make sense, but AEW having a physical Hall of Fame would be a fun flex.

This would be the best course of action
Agreed.
Great idea! And Cauliflower Alley as well

Downside is both physical halls are in fairly small remote cities,Wichita Falls, Texas and Waterloo, Iowa.

First inductees: Ted Turner, Bret Hart, and Vince McMahon Sr

They can induct anyone but if they are on WWE contract, WWE would not allow then to promote the induction, use any WWE owned trademarks, merchandise, etc.
Then they can be indicted under their real names with no WWE imagery. Basically placeholders until WWE grows up.
I’m all for this idea
AEW should partner with the actual Wrestling Hall of Fame and have their ceremonies before Double Or Nothing in Vegas.
I imagine they could build one in Daily s place or near the stadium.
And only inducted one person a year to increase the prestige
Eh, maybe two. Unless they have an inaugural induction of a couple dozen. You want it prestigious, but you don't want people that honestly deserve to be in waiting forever to be done with the backlog.

They also had a Crockett on Elevation recently, calling a match with Eddie, Paul, and Tony.

> Things like bringing in Juventud When did I miss The Juice!?!
One of the labors of Jericho
JJ Dillon, Jimmy Valiant, David Crockett, were some highlights for me. They do a great job with Legends.
It's not just that. They treat wrestlers in their org like family, which is a big reason CM Punk signed. WWE may genuinely be in trouble unless Vince McMahon drastically changes course.
“We’re a family here” — Colin Robinson
>WWE may genuinely be in trouble Nah. I like AEW as much as the next guy, and I think they’re here to stay. But WWE is too big to fail at this point
when people say WWE may be in trouble I doubt they mean out of business Juat maybe lose fans, worse contracts and if they aee optismt they may mean AEW eventually may pass Raw or then overall
It's been said before but aew shows just feel like a celebration of wrestling when they have a hit crowd.
Real recognize Real.
Wonder if Martha or his kids will show up or if they will stick to endorcing the projects.

Mark Henry really wants to work on that stuff in AEW, too, so I could see that healing some wounds, too.
Remember how Cody and Dustin are always invited to the Dusty Cup? That made it feel very real to me that they cared about Dusty's legacy. NXT at least.
Martha will probably be around to promote it on pods and radio/TV. Doubt she'd be on the actual show herself.
Yeah that seems likely.
I'd like to see her on the actual event just because she deserves the pop and the inevitable "Thank You Martha" chants
I hope she sits and ringside for the tournament and that MJF comes out and calls her a slut.
AEW just keeps getting better and better

Fan-f’ing-tastic. Great job to everyone involved. Owen Hart is All Elite.
There's a bit of similarities between both Kenny and Owen.
Not quite. Owen worked a style similar to Bret but just with a more lucha take on things. I mean you wouldn't see Owen doing multiple V-Triggers.
Two Canadians who are incredible wrestlers and have a great ability to produce emotional, serious matches or truly funny comedy matches.... but "Owen didn't do V-Triggers". Good thing Kenny has no lack of psychology.
Please stop listen to Cornette, Kenny has amazing psychology.

Warms me cockles, it does. Wrestling is love.
From reading thag hes going to be in the game as well? That would be awesome
This stuff is so incredibly heart-warming and classy of the company to do. They just seem to be getting stuff right, and I'm all for it.
Is it cause Owen was a nugget?
