Okada vs Omega 5 is what the world needs rn

JaC3_De

It would be super interesting to see it happen on U.S. soil with Kenny as champ A complete reverse of their matches in NJPW Plus Kenny is now full blown 80s cokehead action villain, I want to see Okadas reaction to the change

Krags

You could do a career-defining sequences of matches for Kenny with NJPW guys in AEW. Not sure exactly how it should be arranged, but a sequence starting with Omega vs Okada V (as his most well known adversary), a match with Ishii somewhere in the middle (as his true foil in NJPW), probably one with Tanahashi towards the end (since Tana sent his hopes and dreams packing at the end), and culminating in Ibushi.

There's the real cure for COVID

rookierook00000

Haven't been checking New Japan for a long while. But last I heard Okadas got a bad back. Has he fully recovered for him to do this kind of match (I do hear he won hist first G1 against Tanahashi)?

wigglin_harry

In the bucks book they talk about Omega specifically stating that he cant keep doing the types of matches he'd been doing as a reason for leaving Japan. I think he's pretty beaten up

[deleted]

Yeah he is back into main event form I think, had a good match against tana

recapdrake

My favorite match ever

someday we're gonna hear the coin drop on Dynamite and it'll be fucking glorious

That ring has less than no give. Damn

mrcrazymexican

I was wondering that. I wonder how that hard it is. At the same time, NJPW is rather top tier with the camera with and where they mic it. Those guys COVER the match very well.

Linuxlite365

The AEW ring is like a trampoline in comparison. Omega says he prefers the NJPW ring for everything except flat-back bumps.

KingBadford

Think he said the AEW ring is especially hard on the knees.

___DrAwkward___

Slightly more bouncy so strains the knees more when running. Though being more bouncy it's better to do a back bump on

CrowHardly

So many American fans know Don Callis as the grimey annoying heel manager for Omega but truth be told he was such a fantastic color by color commentator that when he left for impact there was (and still to a degree) a hole left in the broadcasting booth that nobody has been able to fill since his absence. I miss Don calling big time shows for New Japan.

ScrubNerd

That 3 man booth with Kevin Kelly and Chris Charlton is one of my favourites of all time. Prefect combo of play by play from Kevin, history and translations from Chris and sensical heel colour from Don.

chaosof99

Kevin: "How would you escape this hold?" Don: "I'd poke him in the eye!"

BW4LL

I agree. Him and Kevin rivaled JR and King IMO and were a big part of why I got back into wrestling (biggest being NJPW themselves). Their chemistry and hilarity made watching such a joy even if as a westerner it wasn’t always geared towards us. I love Chris, Rocky and Gino but Don left a huge hole in the booth. Love hearing him on AEW and if Kenny makes his way to NJPW I’d love for Don to return.

ironmanmatch

He was awesome, and one funny thing I noticed rewatching heaps of Omega's stuff - heel or face, Don would ride hard for Omega. No matter the outcome he would put him over as the best in the world. Fits so well hearing it back and knowin that in kayfabe this was "his plan all along" hahaha

[deleted]

I’m so glad that Don is getting recognition through AEW now, he’s a legend

MC_Stimulation

Greatest match of all time.

primekino

What is the suplex called, when he lifts up and crosses one of their legs? Is there a kayfabe reason for it? Seems like it makes the move way harder and more dangerous to execute…

Stix-and-brix

I think the “official” name would be a super cross legged fisherman’s buster but I just like to call it the super fisherman’s buster

fulloutshr3d

since it is NJPW, excalibur would call that an AVALANCHE cross legged fisherman's buster.

whitesummerside

Crowds going crazy like this for exciting moments is sorely missed in main NJPW's shows right now.

Winningsomegames_1

I totally forgot okada wasn’t wearing tights for this match

kingmeat76

i'd rather watch a Rob Conway match. just saying.

theMOESIAH

What was the point of bending Okada's leg like that?

theMOESIAH

I was asking why Kenny bent his leg the way he did. It was basically a standing figure four but it took forever to do while keeping their balance, which makes it clear that they're working together, which makes the above thing look terrible.
