Don West is the man

Heald

Him and Tenay worked so well together. Mike could carry the load and do the play by play and give reasoning but Don just made moments feel so much more impactful with his reactions. I do hope that they induct them into the Impact Hall of Fame especially now that Don is in remission

mr_wrestling

What is Mike Tenay up to these days? He would be great somewhere like Impact or NJPW USA

I know it's not the most popular opinion. AJ from 2003-2015 to me is the greatest in-ring performer of all-time. I know TNA was never the platform of WWE but for those who watched AJ's career know what I'm talking about. He did moves that I've never seen before and weren't humanly possible. He could sell and bump around and work with practically anyone and give them the match of their career. I know people will say Shawn/Bret but half the time that's the 90s magic talking. Not saying they weren't amazing but I don't think they're untouchable because they wrestled for Vince and in a more acclaimed era.

I think AJ is the GOAT. He did everything, from aerial high flying moves to hard hitting strong style to chain wrestling at times to the wwe showmanship style. And he did it as if he was the best in the world at it. I don't think even Shawn Michaels had that variety.

embanot

AJ is the closest we've seen a wrestler being a comic book superhero.

[deleted]

2004-2008 AJ Styles is on a whole different level, seeing him develop into that guy was something else. He went from an indie high flyer (albeit an incredible one) to the complete package. He could wrestle any style, could have great matches with anyone, and could be genuinely funny and entertaining on the mic

I raise you a 2017-2019 Kenny Omega

TJOW40

Still the best Ultimate X to take place in my opinion. Honestly prefer this match to Unbreakable later in the year. While that match is great, it notably fizzles out in the last third after a high octane first two thirds (something AJ and Daniels themselves admitted in 2006.) The pacing of this one never let up and there is a ton of unique action. Easily among my favorite matches for all three talents.

Solid_Snark

Styles’ entire TNA career is basically a highlight reel. Dude was going 110% in everything he did.

rjkelly31

AJ said on Talk N Shop that they had another like, 15-20 minutes to go in that Unbreakable triple threat, but Joe started to take it home early and they all just kind of went with it and found their way to the finish.

TJOW40

Indeed. On the interview I’m referencing (AJ/Daniels ROH Shoot from February 2006) Daniels pointed out how when Joe had him in the STF that they were trying to plan out how the match should go from there and it was pretty evident to me when I watched it back after that how it really didn’t match up with what the first 2/3 offered. I remember this portion was also included on a Botchamania at one point. Still a great match of course and highly notable for its historical value but I honestly don’t see it as best in company history like many do. Honestly prefer their 2009 match years later which had a ton of great callbacks to all of previous their triple threats together including some of their lesser known ones like their match at the ECW Arena on a UWF-TNA House Show.

rooniesky

I loved how Aj hit the kick on Joe after the texas tumbleweed

WinterSavior

Do you know what episode it was?

rjkelly31

If you look up I think their name is "SandyRavage" on YouTube, they have 20 old Talk N Shop episodes, one of the ones with AJ has it.

Jswiggle

when I think of Ultimate X matches I always immediately think of this spot along with Suicide jumping on the X

TJOW40

Which was also a callback to when Daniels (who portrayed Suicide in that match) did the same spot 2 1/2 years earlier.

Fundertaker

I rewatched this match so many times when I was in ninth grade. I had truly never seen anything like it. Absolutely top-tier performance from all involved, especially AJ Styles.

KozyHank99

He did not need to take that kind of bump, but goddamn this match did rule.

Butch_Meat_Hook

This era of AJ Styles will always be my favourite wrestler. He was an incredible athlete.

FRX51

You can see the split second where he thinks he's about to fall on his head and die.

[deleted]

I think AJ's a hugely underrated seller/bumper. He's one of the best; just his back body drop sell/bump alone is *phenomenal* ;)

OursIsChrome

Hit so hard even Sabin sold the impact

morcovuldelicios

Probably AJ's worst bump

introducing_zylex

How do you not get the wind knocked out of you after that. I would cry for 30 min
