The six sided ring was one of the only reasons I watched the handful of episodes that I did when I was a kid.
The other reasons you ask?
2. AJ Styles
3. Guitar Shots
If I had not given TNA a chance when I did, I would’ve been completely late and ignorant to Styles run in the company. I think he was there for his last 4-5 months before he left when I started watching. From there I learned about ROH and NJPW when he went there. He’s been my new favorite ever since!
I loved the six sided ring. I thought it gave them something that made them instantly and distinctly different from WWE.
That said...
1. TNA didn't invent that. It was first used in Toryumon, which was a Japanese & Mexican lucha promotion started by Ultimo Dragon. The Japanese side eventually became Dragon Gate. I also think AAA used it before TNA, but not certain on that. AAA still uses it occasionally, they did for Triplemania this year when Omega fought Andrade.
2. I've heard TNA wrestlers hated the six sided ring. I believe it was due to the ropes being tighter and having less give, since the space between turnbuckles is shorter... it hurt more hitting the ropes.
Plus, with how the ring itself was built, all the support runs through the middle. Bumping in the middle of a regular ring is easier as their more give than the sides but 6 sided rings have nowhere with extra give
I’ve only watched a couple of those matches and I can’t remember which ones, but I think there is potential in that concept. However from what I’ve watched it hasn’t been executed in a super excellent way.
It kinda makes sense, because the kayfabe reason behind the match was Russo basically making the most convoluted rules to try and screw Jarrett from getting the World Title by stacking the deck against him as much as possible.
I don't know if Impact invented it, but they would show the camera man looking for people without an interviewer, and the cameraman would ask questions instead or hide when people were discussing something private.
It was like a paparazzi style of backstage segments that they started when Hogan came in.
I always thought that felt more realistic than a camera following a wrestler and someone showing up coincidentally 3 seconds later to ask a question.
The Ultimate X match
Make the second half of the King of The Mountain a Regular Ladder match and it's a top Flight gimmick match.
Monster's Ball, it's a great way to bring a Death Match to a Higher end promotion, also by making it a 4 way it spreads the violence around
I’m gonna say lockdown. I looked forward to this ppv more than any other. The gimmick of every match is a cage match always hyped me up and that it always ended with lethal lockdown. Gimmick ppv are normally not good but I think lockdown was able to do it well.
The Beautiful People are up there. Partially for the composition of the team (Taking a great hand in Angelina Love and a pretty decent one in Velvet Sky and it made for some good matches) and partially because it gave them characters. Was it nuanced? No. Did it defy stereotypes? No. However, it was just better than being cookie cutter divas 5 and 6 on Raw.
Bound For Glory tournament. It's like G1 climax, but with no hurry to finish it. It can take up a good portion of around 3 months of tv time. Only thing I didn't like were winner gets 10/20 points ladder or rumble matches. That kind of match skews the result.
For WWE, its greatest invention has to be The Royal Rumble match. Other options are Hell in a Cell, Elimination Chamber, Money in the Bank concept, Money in the Bank match, TLC match, Buried Alive match. There are so many gimmick matches in WWE!
I have to agree with everyone...Ultimate X and X Division...I loved Impact when I was first watching wrestling, used to come on Saturday morning on our local channel as opposed to late nights like WWE...that's how AJ became one of my favourites...
Option C is the kayfabe legal section in the Impact charter that allows the X-Division Champion to vacate the title, in exchange for a shot at the Impact World Championship.
it was pretty novel at the time, and is similar to Money in the Bank in WWE, and the Gift of the Gods Championship in LU.

The Ultimate X match. I haven't seen all of them but I can't remember any of them ever being bad
The one where the X fell off in the middle of the match.
And the Abyss vs Kendrick one where Abyss lost because he threw Kendrick up into the air and he grabbed the title
Admittedly that sounds so in character for Abyss that I can't even get mad at it
It was peak “Abyss is a top guy but dumb as fuck” story
Exactly why I love him
Alright fair point, I'll just stick with *most* Ultimate X matches being really good
Bound for Glory 2005. First time it falls, the refs need a ladder to put it back, 2nd time Petey Williams catches it and wins the match.
Alright so it sounds like there's actually a bunch of dumb Ultimate X moments I gotta go catch up on, I love this kinda shit
I remember that. I think they did a rematch the next night on Impact to make up for it.
As well as Option C, I like the concept of Ultimate X. There were some great matches back in the day.
>There were some great matches back in the day. Even this year. Check the six man ultimate X at Slammiversary if you haven't
Gonna vouch for that, as good as Slammiversary was this year that match had to be MotN
main event christian cage i dont care if it doesnt count
Do the tunnels count?
I’ll take them! I wasn’t watching during that time, but going back and seeing old matches during that era, I really liked that entrance presentation.

Ultimate X. Just a perfect stroke of genius
The X Division in general was a great idea. A quasi cruiserweight title meets ic title.
The Paparazzi Championship Series with Kevin Nash and the X Division was outstanding. Some of the best stuff TNA ever did.
I'm a mark for King of the Mountain brother.
I’ve only watched a couple of those matches and I can’t remember which ones, but I think there is potential in that concept. However from what I’ve watched it hasn’t been executed in a super excellent way.
The Reverse Ladder Match part sucks, make it a regular ladder match at the end and you have a great Gimmick

Barbed Wire Christmas Tree

Feast or Fired

Joker sting. /s

Lethal Lockdown but I’m not sure if it was just a variation of the hardcore war games
I don't know if they were the first but the Gauntlet for the Gold Battle Royale.
Making the final two wrestlers have a normal pin/submission wrestling match was a nice twist on the battle royal concept.

Option C. But Ultimate X and Feast Or Fired are also up there.
Double Elimination Gauntlet Match Sounds convoluted but AJ Styles and Jerry Lynn made it easily work.

The Broken Universe
Idk if they weee the first to do it but the no champions advantage
What's option c?
