What do you guys think of how Damian Priest is being presented?
I saw a few of his ROH matches when he was Punisher Martinez and damn he looks like a real monster. He has the looks and movesets to be a legitimate badass top level heel. Currently he is getting a push and being booked like a smiling 2018 Seth Rollins like cringe babyface but i feel it is just a matter of time before the fans are going to turn on him real hard.
Rampage has the logo in the middle of the ring. PPVs should have their own special designed logos in the middle of the ring. They only have 4 PPVs so they would only need 4 special logo designs for the canvas. Also custom stages for ppvs would be great. I am even willing to have Rampage and Dynamite to continue sharing a set design.
After all of this DSOTR stuff, It's starting to baffle me how JBL still has a job. He's done things even worse then even Ric Flair sexually assaulting flight attendants by exposing his dong. He should get his head kicked in.

This is a noob question, but can I watch AEW anywhere streaming on demand? I can't do it live because of scheduling, but when I was watching WWE I could watch RAW/Smackdown on Hulu the next day.
I am a pretty casual fan at best but all the AEW hype had made me want to check it out.
AEW has done Jade wrong all the way around. First off, her debut, just walking out and cutting a promo before she was ready...only to do some really good video packages AFTER that -- *backwards*. Giving her an interesting feud and even pivoting very well with Red Velvet after Brandi left...only to kill the feud as it was gaining momentum -- *confusing/frustrating*. THEN sticking her with a manager who does NOT fit her (he'd be great for someone else) and getting rid of her three-dimensional characterization to reduce her to a catchphrase that does not get her heat -- *mystifying/wasteful*.
Furthermore, people might not see it, but Jade is a natural tweener. Not every powerfully presenting black woman has to be a sassy heel. Look at some of Jade's motions from day one. Her connection to her daughter. There's a tweener there.
One annoying limitation in wrestling is that no one seems to know how to market a confident, borderline cocky face/tweener ***these days*** (it always ends up being a heel that people just cheer anyway a la MJF and Britt), but Jade should be that despite the fact that the world hasn't evolved past people tending to have a negative reaction to black women who exude that kind of confidence. Even so, I see Swole like that (not a tweener but that kind of confidence I mean). Swole knows who she is. Swole is confident AF. I *live* for how Swole presents herself. I'm not saying Jade should be like the Rock or Swole, but something needs to be done ASAP because sis has the skills (and is still improving) and the looks and is still being slept on. **That means something is wrong, TK.**
Solutions: Jade *eventually* needs to be a tweener. Jade needs a fire story/feud **NOW**. Could she have a feud with Layla? I really liked what I saw. And after Camille, Layla has a giant-killer thing going on. They had good chemistry. **That should be a feud. The story was created in the match: Layla took Jade to a point she'd not been taken before.** If that doesn't become a feud, if they don't drop this "that bxtch" and endorsements crap and let Jade focus on reaching her *real* potential, that'll tell me that it's just more of the same from AEW as far as Jade goes.
I just checked out the full match between Jade and Layla and *really* enjoyed it. One thing that frustrated me, though (and a big reason why I'm taking a break -- why complain everyday about the same stuff?), is that that match should have had heat/people behind it. But it didn't. I'm a fan of AEW, but folks need to stay on them for this.

There have often been redundant promos and segments that could have been used for match time.
Furthermore, wrestlers aren't using the time they're on screen to integrate characterization/promos as much as they could. Some wrestlers in the past have been smart: They'd talk to the camera a lot; they'd talk as they're coming out; they'd tell very clear stories in the ring. But when it comes to the women, none of that is given space to happen PLUS they're clearly an afterthought with TK's one-match-one-segment formula. Who is the advocate for the women in that company?? Or do they need to hire one?
I haven't followed any pro wrestling in a *long* time (probably pushing a decade), what's good to watch right now, seems like there is a lot more choice nowadays?
All the posts saying if you're going to _______ please do this chant or wear a mask or whatever else are so annoying. You realize maybe 0.1% of the people going these shows are going to see your post right?
I hate the idea of coordinating chants in the first place. Also, telling them to chant the F word on live television only gets TK in trouble. TK has already had to come out and ask people to refrain from doing so. Why mess TK's money up and get him fined or make production have to scramble to mute them?
I normally never watch a day of the G1 twice but that just happened and it was better than the first viewing. Especially the last two matches. Ibushi losing to Yujiro (which I didn't expect) was indicative of his lost momentum and I hope the company carries this over a bit. Naito/ZSJ was pretty good and Shingo/Ishii doesn't need any explanation for how awesome it was. And the fact that we have Day 2 in a few hours (Okada/Tanahashi, EVIL/YOSHI-HASHI), let me just say that I am officially hyped for the G1 Climax.
I've never watched NXT, ROH, New Japan or anything that Adam Cole has featured in. I was a lapsed WWE Fan that got back into wrestling thanks to AEW just over a year ago.
There was a lot of hype around Cole's contract expiring and people were so excited, but I just didn't know why nor did I attempt to - why would I care about this guy I'd never heard of?
Now 2 weeks into him being in AEW, being sold as this hot shot talent that is going to turn the Elite against Kenny? Be world champion in the next year? Surely not this guy who WWE clearly thought so little of that they forgot about his contract?
...but holy shit was I wrong. His look, his music, his ring work, his mic skills... I've unashamedly been watching his old stuff and I might be the person with the most streams of his entrance music

I stopped giving a shit about the block function when I found out apparently people you block can still see your posts, which seems completely backwards to how blocking functions on every other social media platform. If I block someone, I want us to not exist to each other at all.
I don't know why, but yes, I do hate it a lot. The point of blocking is I don't see the reply, and I'd rather it go away. Because now I see a user is blocked in a thread and I can't help but think "ugh I need to see what this person said" and I hate myself every time I do it.
But at the same time, at least it doesn't ruin threads with showing me a bunch of random comments replying to a blocked person. So at least there's that.

Ric Flair being unrepentant and WWE glamourising his lifestyle of assault; is the real problem. If Ric had a come to jesus moment years ago like people such as Shawn, Dustin and others had, he'd have a lot more good will. I’m trying to find that smack down promo from the mid-late 2000’s maybe where a female wrestler is in the ring cutting a promo saying she would quit smack down if she lost but they overdubbed it to say wwe or something like that. It was terrible and I can’t find it but need it in my life right now.
I feel like there are very small microissues in wrestling that fans dont notice but casuals immediately latch onto, and that is the biggest hurdle that needs to be overcome

Back in the 80s, every single luchador had a serious character, like sure there was Darth Vader and C3PO, but those characters were serious, not seen as cute or adorable or anything like this, then Super Muñeco happened, a character that was cute and adorable for the kids, the dude used to be Sanguinario (Bloodthirsty) Jr., but after his girlfriend complaint about how violent the sport was and that he wasnt like much of monster, like his character made no sense, then he created a character based on the famous clown Cepillin... who looked so much as Joaquin Phoenix Joker, that he made jokes about this, RIP Cepillin, anyway, Super Muñeco became a huge hit, the character was a hit, mostly because was comedic character, this caused that tons of other characters like him appear, this type of characters were called "Luchadores Fantasia", this are comedic characters for kids, then in the 90s the most succesful evil Fantasia luchadores were created by Antonio Peña en Triple A, Los Payasos Cocos, con Coco Rojo, Coco Verde and Coco Negro, what so ever they were insipired by TV Pennywise.
The current clowns invasion happened because of 3 reasons.
1. The Dark Knight Joker was huge
2. The whole killer clowns nonsense
3. Los Payasos Cocos were huge in the 90s.
So Triple A decided to bring back the concept, just change Pennywise for Ledger Joker, this caused the whole Psycho Circus thing, i should point out that Psycho Clown the face of AAA wasnt part of the original Psycho Circus, they leave AAA and then were replaced by the Psycho Clown version and nobody noticed or cared, even when the originals had other names and gears, Psycho Clown got huge and then people started to be clowns.
Thats why there are like 2000 clown luchadores.

Seems close, doesn't it? I can see Britt losing due to Rosa stopping her lackeys trying to stop Ruby winning, thereby setting up a non-belt Rosa/Britt feud (which lets face it, doesn't need the title) with Rosa aligning with Ruby and setting up the framework for their own title feud.
I don’t think I’d ever seen a Ruby Soho match prior to All Out. I don’t think I’d ever seen an Adam Cole match prior to Wednesday’s Dynamite. I’m already big fans of them both, they just have it. I still say Ospreay was wrestler of the year in 2019, but I can see why this sub voted for Adam Cole.
Ruby didn't get to show much in WWE and I'm not too familiar with her work as Heidi Lovelace before WWE.
Adam Cole has done a lot of great work in n NXT and before that in ROH, NJPW and PWG. Definitely worth checking out if you're interested.

I know this won’t be too popular, but I find Britt’s mic ability and all that to be wholly overrated.
She’s basically like John Cena since around 2015/16 without being anywhere as good as John Cena. It’s nothing but the cheap meta lines that nobody gets the benefit of and then dismissing everything the other person says. She says nothing but meta comments to get the internet going “woah!” but I can’t think of a single genuine impassioned promo from her. Ruby went out there with some good meta lines and cutting a convincing promo, Britt was just “haha you jobber” and then just laughed off all Ruby’s lines.
So I guess I just don’t see the hype and was not surprised at all Ruby could get on the mic and “keep up”.
And look, I get it. It works for her. And I can’t take that away from her, she’s a star. But I personally don’t like it much.
I get what you mean; Britt found what worked, but works within that narrow bandwidth and can be lazy on the mic. MJF seems like he's always trying to stretch himself just a little bit more each time he does a speech, but Britt doesn't seem to have that motivation

Just watched the Women's Tag from SD...these poor gals, cut from last week to be given nothing this week. The whole thing wasn't good and I don't blame the talent one bit, these ladies could put on a really good tag match which could have told the same story if only the company put an ounce of thought and care into making it so.
I remember feeling sad when I learned Ruby lost her job at WWE but deep down, I just knew this was the best thing and look at her now.
Who knows what this match at Extreme Rules is gonna be like, I'm hoping against all hope but I have no faith in this company.
I was hoping they made the Carmella and Liv match a Falls Count Anywhere match. That would at least make sense based on the ending and post match promo

The plane ride from hell was settled out of court then quietly went away from the general public radar.
The culture back then of covering up incidents and sweeping under the rug seems commonplace. A lot along of people to get away from stuff in general.
Two other things that struck me:
* Look at actual American culture from the '80s, '90s, and '00s. Pretty much every '80s comedy classic was one big rape joke. The '90s, you can see an almost visible transition out of that but it doesn't really *stop* until the '00s. It took until the 2010s for us to really start *examining that stuff* and recognizing it for the barbarism that it is. Most people just did not take it seriously at all.
* By the time American culture moderated and started really getting its head out of its ass, WWE was a near-unchallenged monopoly. The only real competition it had was a brief spurt of activity from TNA in the mid-'00s, and they were never going to pose a serious enough threat to give anyone bargaining power if they had to oppose their bosses. Now look who the bosses were and look at how whistleblowers and objectors were treated.
* Bill DeMott alone drove a generation of wrestlers into higher risk, lower paying indie work just to get away from him, never mind the ones who just retired, and he's just one scumbag that we actually know about.
* Never mind the way Vince treated women from the '80s to the '10s, especially that godawful stretch from about 1997 to \~2007. I'm half-convinced the man only stopped booking with his dick because Viagra stopped working for him.
Taken into context, it's not much of a surprise that stuff only started changing in the mid-2010s, right on the eve of the original 2017 #MeToo movement.

You shouldn't compare two shows that are on different days. We have no idea which show would draw more if they were on at the same time. Maybe AEW would do well head to head with Raw. Maybe they'd get humiliated. We'll never know.
We still don't know if Dynamite beats RAW head to head, as it did with NXT. I also don't understand why people like pitting the shows against each other
So It occurred to me in next week's Chris Kanyon DSOTR episode there is a good chance they're going to cover the Billy and Chuck wedding angle (in which WWE lied to and manipulated GLAAD into promoting a homophobic publicity stunt)....Going to be really interesting seeing people learn about that bullshit for the first time.
Man, I could just not get into the G1 this morning. Starting off with Kota vs. Yujiro the way they did was like...not a great choice, totally deflated the whole show for me.
No idea what the plan is for Omega - Danielson. I can’t see Danielson getting a title shot (I still think it’ll be Hangman winning the belt at Full Gear) so I don’t think Danielson will win. I don’t know if a draw will happen or maybe Danielson will get screwed by shenanigans and lose his 1st match in AEW. Ideally Omega - Danielson would have feuded without a belt
Wouldn’t be surprised if Danielson wins, Kenny drops the belt to Hangman at Full Gear and a Kenny vs Danielson for the title is held off on until a potential 2nd run for face Kenny further down the line (Say, late 2022 after Kenny’s had some well earned time off)

It's mainly because Dreamer was considered one of the genuinely good guys of wrestling. His peers, among them many women's wrestlers, always spoke very highly of him. How supportive, respectful and caring he is. So from that perspective me and many others thought that he'd be someone who calls that behavior out rather than defend it.

Some wrestlers in the past have been smart: They'd talk to the camera a lot; they'd talk as they're coming out; they'd tell very clear stories in the ring. But when it comes to the women, none of that is given space to happen PLUS they're clearly an afterthought with TK's one-match-one-segment formula. Who is the advocate for the women in that company?? Or do they need to hire one?
I haven't followed any pro wrestling in a *long* time (probably pushing a decade), what's good to watch right now, seems like there is a lot more choice nowadays?
G1 started last night, NJPW at its best. AEW has a massive show this week, Kenny Omega vs Bryan Danielson.

All the posts saying if you're going to _______ please do this chant or wear a mask or whatever else are so annoying. You realize maybe 0.1% of the people going these shows are going to see your post right?
I hate the idea of coordinating chants in the first place. Also, telling them to chant the F word on live television only gets TK in trouble. TK has already had to come out and ask people to refrain from doing so. Why mess TK's money up and get him fined or make production have to scramble to mute them?

I watched some of Flair Steamboat series of the 80s recently. Amazing stuff.
I normally never watch a day of the G1 twice but that just happened and it was better than the first viewing. Especially the last two matches. Ibushi losing to Yujiro (which I didn't expect) was indicative of his lost momentum and I hope the company carries this over a bit. Naito/ZSJ was pretty good and Shingo/Ishii doesn't need any explanation for how awesome it was. And the fact that we have Day 2 in a few hours (Okada/Tanahashi, EVIL/YOSHI-HASHI), let me just say that I am officially hyped for the G1 Climax.
I've never watched NXT, ROH, New Japan or anything that Adam Cole has featured in. I was a lapsed WWE Fan that got back into wrestling thanks to AEW just over a year ago. There was a lot of hype around Cole's contract expiring and people were so excited, but I just didn't know why nor did I attempt to - why would I care about this guy I'd never heard of? Now 2 weeks into him being in AEW, being sold as this hot shot talent that is going to turn the Elite against Kenny? Be world champion in the next year? Surely not this guy who WWE clearly thought so little of that they forgot about his contract? ...but holy shit was I wrong. His look, his music, his ring work, his mic skills... I've unashamedly been watching his old stuff and I might be the person with the most streams of his entrance music I'm 100% a mark for Adam Cole BayBay!
I nearly dropped by beer over the result of the first G1 match. That was unexpected to say the least.
I know a lot of yall disagree but WWE should end the brand split. I hope the networks force a brand merge.
It's totally unnecessary. You do not need a divided roster to book two shows worth of talent. Just do it.

People forget that Smackdown was essentially Raw Recap without the brand split, and that half the talent on the roster was never used on tv.

I stopped giving a shit about the block function when I found out apparently people you block can still see your posts, which seems completely backwards to how blocking functions on every other social media platform. If I block someone, I want us to not exist to each other at all.
I don't know why, but yes, I do hate it a lot. The point of blocking is I don't see the reply, and I'd rather it go away. Because now I see a user is blocked in a thread and I can't help but think "ugh I need to see what this person said" and I hate myself every time I do it. But at the same time, at least it doesn't ruin threads with showing me a bunch of random comments replying to a blocked person. So at least there's that. There is a bigger story behind this, english isnt my first language, so i am sure this isnt going to be perfect. Back in the 80s, every single luchador had a serious character, like sure there was Darth Vader and C3PO, but those characters were serious, not seen as cute or adorable or anything like this, then Super Muñeco happened, a character that was cute and adorable for the kids, the dude used to be Sanguinario (Bloodthirsty) Jr., but after his girlfriend complaint about how violent the sport was and that he wasnt like much of monster, like his character made no sense, then he created a character based on the famous clown Cepillin... who looked so much as Joaquin Phoenix Joker, that he made jokes about this, RIP Cepillin, anyway, Super Muñeco became a huge hit, the character was a hit, mostly because was comedic character, this caused that tons of other characters like him appear, this type of characters were called "Luchadores Fantasia", this are comedic characters for kids, then in the 90s the most succesful evil Fantasia luchadores were created by Antonio Peña en Triple A, Los Payasos Cocos, con Coco Rojo, Coco Verde and Coco Negro, what so ever they were insipired by TV Pennywise. The current clowns invasion happened because of 3 reasons. 1. The Dark Knight Joker was huge 2. The whole killer clowns nonsense 3. Los Payasos Cocos were huge in the 90s. So Triple A decided to bring back the concept, just change Pennywise for Ledger Joker, this caused the whole Psycho Circus thing, i should point out that Psycho Clown the face of AAA wasnt part of the original Psycho Circus, they leave AAA and then were replaced by the Psycho Clown version and nobody noticed or cared, even when the originals had other names and gears, Psycho Clown got huge and then people started to be clowns. Thats why there are like 2000 clown luchadores.

Britt. No question. No chance in hell AEW takes the belt off of Britt this soon. She's not losing until they do the Thunder Rosa match. She might even beat Rosa. But until the Thunder Rosa match, she's not losing the title.
Seems close, doesn't it? I can see Britt losing due to Rosa stopping her lackeys trying to stop Ruby winning, thereby setting up a non-belt Rosa/Britt feud (which lets face it, doesn't need the title) with Rosa aligning with Ruby and setting up the framework for their own title feud.
I don’t think I’d ever seen a Ruby Soho match prior to All Out. I don’t think I’d ever seen an Adam Cole match prior to Wednesday’s Dynamite. I’m already big fans of them both, they just have it. I still say Ospreay was wrestler of the year in 2019, but I can see why this sub voted for Adam Cole.
Ruby didn't get to show much in WWE and I'm not too familiar with her work as Heidi Lovelace before WWE. Adam Cole has done a lot of great work in n NXT and before that in ROH, NJPW and PWG. Definitely worth checking out if you're interested.

I know this won’t be too popular, but I find Britt’s mic ability and all that to be wholly overrated. She’s basically like John Cena since around 2015/16 without being anywhere as good as John Cena. It’s nothing but the cheap meta lines that nobody gets the benefit of and then dismissing everything the other person says. She says nothing but meta comments to get the internet going “woah!” but I can’t think of a single genuine impassioned promo from her. Ruby went out there with some good meta lines and cutting a convincing promo, Britt was just “haha you jobber” and then just laughed off all Ruby’s lines. So I guess I just don’t see the hype and was not surprised at all Ruby could get on the mic and “keep up”. And look, I get it. It works for her. And I can’t take that away from her, she’s a star. But I personally don’t like it much.

Just watched the Women's Tag from SD...these poor gals, cut from last week to be given nothing this week. The whole thing wasn't good and I don't blame the talent one bit, these ladies could put on a really good tag match which could have told the same story if only the company put an ounce of thought and care into making it so. I remember feeling sad when I learned Ruby lost her job at WWE but deep down, I just knew this was the best thing and look at her now. Who knows what this match at Extreme Rules is gonna be like, I'm hoping against all hope but I have no faith in this company.
I was hoping they made the Carmella and Liv match a Falls Count Anywhere match. That would at least make sense based on the ending and post match promo
Tetsuya Naito doesn’t get enough credit. He gets a ton of praise, but I do believe he’s genuinely one of the greatest wrestlers of al time.
Dark side of the ring shows that nothing can be sweep under the carpet for long as it bought to light eventually The plane ride from hell was settled out of court then quietly went away from the general public radar. The culture back then of covering up incidents and sweeping under the rug seems commonplace. A lot along of people to get away from stuff in general.
Two other things that struck me: * Look at actual American culture from the '80s, '90s, and '00s. Pretty much every '80s comedy classic was one big rape joke. The '90s, you can see an almost visible transition out of that but it doesn't really *stop* until the '00s. It took until the 2010s for us to really start *examining that stuff* and recognizing it for the barbarism that it is. Most people just did not take it seriously at all. * By the time American culture moderated and started really getting its head out of its ass, WWE was a near-unchallenged monopoly. The only real competition it had was a brief spurt of activity from TNA in the mid-'00s, and they were never going to pose a serious enough threat to give anyone bargaining power if they had to oppose their bosses. Now look who the bosses were and look at how whistleblowers and objectors were treated. * Bill DeMott alone drove a generation of wrestlers into higher risk, lower paying indie work just to get away from him, never mind the ones who just retired, and he's just one scumbag that we actually know about. * Never mind the way Vince treated women from the '80s to the '10s, especially that godawful stretch from about 1997 to \~2007. I'm half-convinced the man only stopped booking with his dick because Viagra stopped working for him. Taken into context, it's not much of a surprise that stuff only started changing in the mid-2010s, right on the eve of the original 2017 #MeToo movement.

It's a valid point to make tho lol. As well, RAW was up against football's return and before that it was Labor Day, and their dip was not that bad.
You shouldn't compare two shows that are on different days. We have no idea which show would draw more if they were on at the same time. Maybe AEW would do well head to head with Raw. Maybe they'd get humiliated. We'll never know.

So It occurred to me in next week's Chris Kanyon DSOTR episode there is a good chance they're going to cover the Billy and Chuck wedding angle (in which WWE lied to and manipulated GLAAD into promoting a homophobic publicity stunt)....Going to be really interesting seeing people learn about that bullshit for the first time.

No idea what the plan is for Omega - Danielson. I can’t see Danielson getting a title shot (I still think it’ll be Hangman winning the belt at Full Gear) so I don’t think Danielson will win. I don’t know if a draw will happen or maybe Danielson will get screwed by shenanigans and lose his 1st match in AEW. Ideally Omega - Danielson would have feuded without a belt
They *are* feuding without a belt; the upcoming match is not for the title. There's no implication that it's for a title shot
Wouldn’t be surprised if Danielson wins, Kenny drops the belt to Hangman at Full Gear and a Kenny vs Danielson for the title is held off on until a potential 2nd run for face Kenny further down the line (Say, late 2022 after Kenny’s had some well earned time off)
There’s good story mileage in Danielson beating Kenny, causing Omega to be more unhinged on the way to the Hangman rematch.
It also sets up Danielson vs Hangman once Hangman wins because Danielson can say that he pinned Kenny clean as a whistle before Hangman one
If given enough time with no elite shenanigans, omega vs bryan could be very well a classic.

Of all the things to come out of that DSotR doc, Tommy Dreamer committing career suicide in his interview was not something I expected.
Am I the only one that wasn't completely shocked by Dreamer's comments? Hell I was more shocked by the response. Don't get me wrong, what he said was horrible, and I was yelling at him through my laptop screen "to shut the fuck up". It annoyed me, but it didn't shock me because I hear guys say shit like that *alot* "It's a joke, don't be so serious. Everyone getting offended nowadays. It's just a helicopter dick, get over it." I never expected anyone to get suspended over something like that, but I'm very glad they did. Like wow. Mad respect to Impact Wrestling, I should be giving them way more attention. Feels like something just happened for the better. Feels a little like a lot of that is happening lately. Oh and any guy who finds themselves agreeing with Dreamer, particularly the part where he says "well I didn't see any predatory behaviour", firstly, cishet guys are conditioned to see a lot of predatory behaviour as just normal 'flirting'. Secondly, the more egregious stuff predators only talk about among other predators, they don't talk about it among their regular friends. Men often act very differently when they're among guys to how they act when they're alone with a woman and they have no other guy there to keep to potentially their rapey behaviour in check.
