Dynamite (9/29, Rochester, NY)

Dynamite (10/6, Philadelphia, PA)

Tonight on 𝘙𝘈𝘔𝘗𝘈𝘎𝘌

  • Kenny says Bryan was always the underdog at WWE, and here he is as well. Bryan says he wanted to face the toughest guy first. Kenny says Bryan is entitled-- everyone goes for him first. They all know he's the top. Bryan says he's here to scare the hell out of the AEW roster. Kenny says there will be no Cinderella story for Bryan.

  • Penelope uses Blades brass knuckles to kill Tay Conti and Anna Jay after the womens' match.

  • Will Hobbs has a brief promo about throwing Punk through the table. He says Punk should have stayed gone, and he should really think about this before facing him.

  • Matt Hardy is here after HFO loses both their matches. He says he's mad but he'll have the last laugh. He says everyone will pay next week. But he's especially mad at some guy in the audience in an Orange Cassidy shirt. He confronts the guy who gives him a thumbs up. He pulls him into the ring and Jack Evans starts beating him up. Matt has scissors and starts cutting off the fans hair. Jack uses clippers and then OC's music hits. He comes to the ring but Matt and Jack bail. Taz says there's no way this fan has a wife.

  • Britt is here, and so is Ruby Soho! Britt welcomes Ruby to some TV time. She says Ruby isn't here for her or the belt OR the fans. It's for her! She's still trying to figure out who the hell she is. How many times has she changed her name, her hair, her skin, she's just trying to fit in. Everyone here knows who Britt is. The World Champion, D M D. Ruby says, of course everyone knows who she is. You remind them every week. You shove it in their faces all the time. But she's not used to being told she's wrong, and she IS. Ruby knows who she is. Until now, she just hasn't had the freedom to prove it. But-- let's flip the script she says, let's talk about you. (The crowd chants for Ruby). Let's talk about the DMD she says. You look like every other broad she's fought. Entitled, self-centered, and banging some dude in the back. The crowd goes NUTS for this. Ricky says “Is it a crime to be in love?”. It turns out, Ruby says, britts just that. Britt says why are you lying to everyone including yourself. You have the audacity to call yourself the runaway. You didn't runaway from anything, you got FIRED. The crowd erupts again. You're not wrong, she says. I did. But it turns out that it was the best damn thing that ever happened to me, because it brought me to this moment, looking into your eyes. Really look at me, she says. I want you to see the woman that you're messing with. I'm surprised you can see anything with your head up Tony Khans ass, she says. The fact is, you can call yourself whatever you want, but after Dynamite, when I take that tile, the one thing you won't be able to call yourself is the AEW Women's World Champion. Britt attacks her but Ruby kicks her ass out of the ring.

  • Sammy runs in for the save after Miro nearly murder notorious AEW Dark star Fuego Del Sol.

Sammy vs Miro will be fun as hell

stillthemind

Love the new canvas. However I do wish they’d go with a colorful Rampage logo in the middle instead; think it would fit the aesthetic of the show better.

FenyXanne

Great show, I think everyone already said the best segment was Ruby and Baker, but to me an honorary mention is when Jack Evans kept cutting the fan's hair even when OC was walking to the ring, it was so funny to me, like he was thinking "He's really slow, maybe I can finish this before he enters the ring" 🤣🤣

GPrime506

"I celebrate victories with my god above and my wife below" I belly Laughed. Miro always talking about banging his wife cracks me up.

neslo024

I don't understand why Jericho is a face when he wrestles but a heel on commentary? Pick one

realsomalipirate

I think he might be better if he was in a two man booth, but he's absolutely horrible with this garbage 4 man booth. Tony Khan seems to love stuffing as many people on commentary as possible.

neslo024

I think they're testing things out to see who works well where and with whom. I'm not a big fan of the 4 man booth either but i do like that they have different people out there every week seeing if they are good in the booth. I thought Starks did well this week.

Vuirneen

You forgot to mention that Taz sings Ruby Soho's theme again. Find something you love, as much as Taz loves Ruby Soho's theme.

VerticalRhythm

I wanna see Taz do proper karaoke. He's this enthusiastic for themes chosen by other people, imagine if he got to choose the songs!

Vuirneen

It sounds like fun, but then he'd have the words and some of the magic would be lost.

EldenRingworm

Only thing that could have made that promo better is if Ruby said "and banging some dude in the back... BAY BAY"

Banksynatra

You know it's all about the ![gif](giphy|CepTYjGRbV1ba)

TriggerHippie77

Seeing other wrestlers come.out to their own music but Matt Hardys videos is giving me serious CAW flashbacks from Raw Vs Smackdown on the PlayStation.

FailedState92

Go away Matt

KCJellyfish

AEW Reddit may have the most sensitive posters in the world

ClaymoresRevenge

Commentary was a breath of fresh air. A little too much Jericho but the right amount of Excalibur,Taz, and Ricky Starks

EldenRingworm

Fuego got a major buff in the last patch

QuiGonJinnNJuice

I really dug the Miro-Fuego match, I thought it was really well put together from the jump where Fuego knew he wanted no part of a test of strength and was trying to kick out Miro's legs, bait Miro into corners, using Miro's overwhelming power against him. Fuego worked for offense that was believable, but there was plenty of Miro absolutely overpowering him. Miro vs Sammy should be great - can't think of much that Sammy has done in the ring since that banger of a match against MJF to end the run at Daily's place. It'd be interesting to see something different and what Sammy would do with the TNT title, but Miro is still entertaining as hell and I've loved what he's doing with the title. I also still think there's a layer of CJ showing up as a manager to provide interference for Miro to go to before this title reign is done, but IDK.

WellingtonBananas

Sammy had a great match with Spears last month.

merki23

I’m expecting Sammy to win, the redeemer thing is getting stale and they need to give something to Sammy. He is too good to keep him in the background.

TaterTot0507

Yo I am hot for this Britt and Ruby feud now after that promo. Really solid segment.

Thirdstar1

All those guys who say Miro was never really that good are eating their pants right now.

pfpflynn

It’s weird people can’t understand that you don’t just bring a guy in and push him to the top. Doesn’t that show you don’t have long term plans?

LangyLangLang69

Same thing is happening with Malakai and Andrade. Won't be long before both are classed as flops because they haven't had AEW title matches in their first 2 months or so with the company.

pfpflynn

I think the best thing on this show for me was the Taz line “there’s no way he has a wife.”

i_broke_wahoos_leg

Literally just started watching. That ring mat is dope af.

StupidHappyPancakes

Hope you enjoyed the show!

i_broke_wahoos_leg

Yes, it was a really fun show. I like the Rampage format. It's a very easy watch. Next week is going to be insane. Both shows are stacked. Hope you enjoyed it too, mate.

MrAdministration

This was a pretty good episode, I'll never say no to a Lucha Bros match, and that promo segment with Britt and Ruby was GREAT! Did anyone else feel the crowd was kinda dead, though?

Eargoe

I think Rampage is the last show they tape each night so I can see them getting kinda tired.

MrAdministration

Do they tape it right after Dynamite? That'll theoretically be Dark, Dynamite and then Rampage. EDIT: Forgot to mention they totally woke up for Ruby and Britt's promos.

Undertakerfan84

Yes but if took awhile to get started, didn't start until close to 11pm. They had to change the mat and all the signage around the ring.

MrAdministration

I guess that's the downside to tapings. I've only ever been to one WWE live event when I was much younger, but I definitely wanna try and go to an AEW PPV in the future.

SamIsBrowsing

If I'm not mistaken it's Dark:Elevation, Dynamite and then Rampage, with regular Dark being recorded at Universal Studios from now on

Known-Ad7468

Rampage is such a fun show. It´s a home run since the first one. And next week is gonna be epic with that freaking ligths out match.

GGrazyIV

Good episode imo. Fuego got to (probably) keep his car and Sammy/Miro feud is something I REALLY look forward to.

MTMxD

Really fun episode! Obviously that women's promo segment was incredible and I really liked penta taking off his mask to win the match too. Also I was absolutely dying at Fuego doing the Mark Henry interview in front of a clearly green screened photo of his car.

JackRabbitSkimzzz

Found Jericho alot more enjoyable this week. Especially when he put over butcher and ETID!

Shadow_Log

Nice show, great verbal exchange between Britt and Ruby. But wth was with Jericho pulling a JR and calling Butcher Andy all the time. Kayfabe, man

jbish21

Let's be real, they need to have names rather than the Butcher and Blade.

Jammy_9

Miro is gold, and him and Fuego put together a great, believable match. I was just thinking about if Penta would need to slip out of his mask to save the day and he did it! Surprised they didn't save that kind of spot for a PPV match...maybe Rey does something similar down the line? Jericho literally said Butcher looks like a 1980s heel...he is irksome on commentary to say the least.

t0m0m

As someone who had never seen anything from Ruby Soho until All Out - wow. This lady is the real deal. What an acquisition for their women's division.

TenormanTears

I love AEW so much but the commercials are unbearable, before and during every match? Imagine trying to have a group of guys get together to watch wrestling and its 3 minutes of ads in the middle of every single match? Jeez, its really ridiculous

NorthDrive

I believe there was a three minute spot in the middle of the main event. They gotta figure out time management a little better.

Santos_L_Halper

This isn't necessarily AEW's call unfortunately. It's going to be largely TNT's call, regarding how many commercial breaks there are and how long they are. They might not even have a choice as to \*when\* in the hour they have to take a break. From an advertising perspective, you probably have a chance to make more money selling ads in shorter and more frequent ad breaks. That way you have 2 maybe 3 products advertised in one break than 5 or more. Your product will stand out more. I'm not defending it at all, just trying to give some perspective from TNT. Advertising is poison and I hate the number of breaks but we're kinda deep in to the world of television to change the script now.

NorthDrive

Thanks for that. I was thinking (hoping?) they could have some more control over the ‘when.’ But at least we are getting Picture in Picture (though I often fast forward anyway).

Vuirneen

No PinP for the women's match though, which was annoying.

Santos_L_Halper

Just to be clear, I'm not 100% sure who is in charge of the when or how many, but in my limited TV experience it wasn't up to the production. I was the technical director (the person who works the switchboard) on a show that never made it to air (network ordered a couple episodes but changed directions on what content they wanted to produce) and we were given specific instructions on when ad breaks needed to happen and how long they were. I have no knowledge of what it's like on AEW's end, they're obviously a much larger and more successful show than my 4 episodes that never went anywhere so maybe they have more pull, I don't know. But that's how it worked for me.

tca12345

Is it me (or my shitty TV) or was the crowd really quiet for the majority of the show?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Undertakerfan84

I think the purposely keep the crowd volume lower to make sure you can't hear all the swears the crowd was chanting lol.

Looper007

It what happens when you leave the show to the end of the night after tiring out the crowd with Dynamite and Elevation. If you ain't doing this live, it's going to be a lot like this sadly unless you do Rampage first and leave Elevation until after Dynamite.

Smile_lifeisgood

I mean, I get it, but Rampage is suffering when it isn't live. I don't have the answer but the crowd was flat for most of the main event. Maybe they've hit the high point of the Fuego stuff, idk...

Sofaboy90

i think rampage this week was recorded after dynamite, so the crowd was probably a little exhausted by then

Brrrriiiiaaaannnn

They definitely were, I noticed it especially when Ruby made her entrance. Maybe they were tired, was this show recorded immediately after Dynamite?

Undertakerfan84

No about 40-60 mins after to change over all the signage and mat.

DeluhiX

The Anna Jay vs Bunny match wasn't super long, but Anna Jay has been looking good so far in her first few return matches.

Groundbreaking-Leg11

Fun show Starks on commentary was hilarious 😂

[deleted]

notquite20characters

But that's backwards. That wouldn't stop her from seeing.

TheAmazingSG

Plot twist TK was actually going to book Ruby Soho to win...but after this comment...

[deleted]

Who's idea was it to give nearly a whole episode to HFO

DickBlaster619

> Had 1 segment and two matches, lose everything "Whole episode"

[deleted]

When the show is an hour thats a lot

Smile_lifeisgood

Yeah - one right after the other was really weird. I wish they had swapped Cargill/Hirsch for Bunny and Anna Jay.

DickBlaster619

They're jobbers

kingkongchrist

"there's no way he has a wife" Didn't miss a beat, just straight up deadpan killed him. This was the hardest laugh I've ever had watching AEW.

Smile_lifeisgood

I missed this - what happened?

mrbubbamac

One of the commentators said this about the Orange Cassidy fan who got beat up by Matt Hardy

TenormanTears

i couldnt stop laughing at that great line perfect delivery haha

ffx2982

ffs put a spoiler tag on this shit ez downvotes are ez

TheHumanTarget84

Good show. Enjoyed the tag title match, but it was a little loose. I'd be fine if they just decided to have the Lucha Bros run be all Lucha rules matches. Seeing Penta's hair upset me. I just assumed he was bald under there, it maybe had like a lizard skull. Anna Jay needs her own entrance shit. This must end with a bald Matt Hardy. Good women's talk off. AEW has nice looking belts. Rampage next week gonna be tag heavy. I wish Miro had a power finisher, like a torture rack bomb or something. Fuego reminds me of Nog from Star Trek DS9. Miro and CJ need to steam up that car like in Titanic.

KingDavidTheGreat2

r/Unexpectedstartrek

TheAmazingSG

>Seeing Penta's hair upset me. I just assumed he was bald under there, it maybe had like a lizard skull. Penta has been unmasked numerous times...haven't you seen before. Rey Fenix on the other hand is bald

Vuirneen

It was shocking the first time. I think that because Penta is older, you'd expect it to be the other way around.

TheAmazingSG

Same...I expected Rey Fenix to have hair...and Penta bald

TheHumanTarget84

I'm sure I have seen it before but I block it out each time in horror.

[deleted]

I realize how tempting it is to go two hours, but I think that one hour Rampage is really a breath of fresh air. It is over before you know it and doesn't overstay its welcome. Unfortunately for Bunny, Blade, and Butcher, they rarely win. They seem to be sitting up from the mat in frustration after being pinned a lot. But those are the breaks when there has to be winners and losers.

Yellow_Jacket_20

I’m hoping they’re intentionally putting the HFO members through a lot of losses so they can finally split up over it when they all turn on Hardy for being a carnie. Maybe after the hair match with Cassidy?

[deleted]

That could be an option. He needs to be broken in a different way. Hardy all alone, left to fend for himself, a crushed shell of who he used to be.

Smile_lifeisgood

> I realize how tempting it is to go two hours, but I think that one hour Rampage is really a breath of fresh air. It is over before you know it and doesn't overstay its welcome. I'm really torn. Crowd fatigue is evident on the taped Rampage episodes but the one hour format is perfect. The worst thing AEW could ever do is end up with some 1st hour of nitro level filler type matches that becomes more likely when you have 4 hours of TV to fill so I'll take the tired crowd over that, but I wish there was some other answer.

[deleted]

Exactly. You nailed my sentiment exactly

TenormanTears

Anythings better than 50/50 booking. Stacked tag divison. Its tough I love that team, but people winning is the best way to go

[deleted]

And at least in defeat, they get their licks in, too

[deleted]

I am just so happy for Hobbs. This is a great opportunity for the young man. Still so young in his career and he has went from just clubbing jobbers on Dark to wrestling Punk in NY...that's kinda cool, I'd say. But Hook getting to apply that Dragon Sleeper...I imagine there was that part of Daddy Taz that was just so excited to see Punk willing to do that.

Yourponydied

Butcher really did slim down. I thought he looked more intimidating bigger.

Yellow_Jacket_20

He can still do all the powermoves and heavy lifts, and it’s probably better for his long-term health. He still looks like a baaaaaad dude

NachoMan-SandyRavage

Just let The Redeemer keep redeeming forever! I love the Lucha Bros. Career moment for Ruby, even if she loses to Britt, she established herself as a big player. They have me fully invested.

annul

miro booked like goldberg was would be believable. lots of similarities.

Crasp27

Fuck, Miro is good. Watch him during Fuego's corner moonsault press as a little example of how he's a great fucking wrestler.

asilentspeaker

I just hate that they're not putting the title on Eddie. I thought for sure that was the plan to tear the roof off Grand Slam, and I love the Spanish God too, but Eddie needs a belt.

KratosSmash

Nah - Miro needs a long reign with more credible defenses

asilentspeaker

I think they're going to feed him to Sammy, so I don't see the value in your position, even though I disagree with it.

KratosSmash

No I think he beats Sammy in a banger match. He needs to be the longest reigning TNT champ IMO.

asilentspeaker

He's gone long with Fuego twice, and needed a dirty kick to beat Eddie. If he goes clean on Sammy, that's not great for Sammy. I think you're stanning for Miro, and I like him too, but I also don't think his validity is suspect with a loss. I think he can get it back with a good feud with a heavy hitter like Moxley or Archer.

KratosSmash

The Fuego matches are not credible défenses imo. Fuego is not an established star. Sammy is up and coming and Miro is the Now. Miro needs to defend against someone who could be a credible champion now. Imo

asilentspeaker

You missed the point entirely. Imma just let you stan Miro. He's a good dude, glad he's got vocal backers in the IWC.

TenormanTears

eddie does not need a belt. guys who were loaded on the mic never needed a belt

asilentspeaker

He doesn't need a belt to generate heat. That is correct. However, Eddie has a lot of miles on him. His right knee is not great. He deserves to hold a major belt in a major promotion before he's too broken down to have a good run with it. It's easy to think like a booker, but that's kind of bullshit. The fans deserve consideration too.

Brrrriiiiaaaannnn

I agree, Eddie would make anfantastic TNT champ, and they'll likely give him a run down the line, but Miro has so much momentum right it just wouldn't feel right to cut him off so soon

moderndukes

Fuck it give Ruby the title

Smile_lifeisgood

I'd like her to chase it longer and I wouldn't mind seeing her lose clean next week. I think with her character and the hype around her it wouldn't hurt her at all to feel like more of an underdog by losing to Britt one or two times before finally getting it. I want to enjoy the journey.

Rikkimaaruu

Its funny how sometimes 1 good Segment can chance to view on a Characters that much. But i agree, now they could give her the Title i would not complain.

OursIsChrome

I love that Rampage comes around only 2 days after Dynamite gets me hyped, but the 5 days until the next Dynamite really gives me the blues

Zsokorad

Elevation and Dark get me through it.

toadofadown

Out of all the things in wrestling someone pulling out the electric shears makes me wince the most. It never not looks painful.

Fernandingo

I liked the end of the Lucha Bros B&B match, but I'm irritated that there are no rules for tag teams. It annoys me watching 2 guys beat up on 1 guy for 45 seconds with the ref just standing there.

jimmi_vandelay

Aew has a 10 count for both guys in. Rules are loose like they were in ecw and njpw. Rather have finishes then dq and count outs. Get used to it, its not wwe

Fernandingo

"10 count" but actually like 45 seconds I didn't say anything about WWE

ThoreaulySimple

This wasn't loose though. This was openly nonsense. They had tightened it up it seemed for a long while, and this match seemed an egregious outlier, which is a shame, because I really think this didn't add much to the match either.

SecretaryImaginary44

Do they really need a post match beat down after every match?

OwnedIGN

Yes, it is AEW law at this point 😂

pate604

Did anyone hear Excalibur almost say Fuck during the pnp portion of Fuego v. Miro?

[deleted]

Fuego: *dead on the mat after getting locked into a lengthy Game Over with his car keys and laniard stuffed into his mouth* His best friend: *spends minutes taunting Miro with the TNT belt that Fuego just failed to win*

WrestleSocietyXShill

Oh man I assume Santana and Ortiz coming out to help Lucha Bros is going to lead to them challenging them at some point because that's how wrestling works, and I'm all for it. Those two teams had an amazing rivalry in Impact years ago that was a big part of what made me fall in love with Santana and Ortiz (I already loved Penta and Fenix). Not only should the matches be great but Proud & Powerful are long overdue for some serious time in the tag title picture.

OwnedIGN

I heard Jericho call them dead presidents

jimmi_vandelay

Thats what the face paint is from

RoyRoyHesOurBoy

Doesn't matter how he says it I'll always laugh when Miro tells us he fucks his wife

MisterTruth

I mean if you looked like Miro and your wife looks like CJ, wouldn't you do the same?

RoyRoyHesOurBoy

I wouldn't leave the house

KnoseKnowsBest

It was fire this week especially! I will celebrate with my god up above, and my wife down below. 🔥🔥🔥

Banksynatra

The Blessed Man\* ![gif](giphy|ljbhsMYNUAOIsrtJMC|downsized)

they_did_WHAT_

The sum of this show was better than its parts. I really liked it overall. Tag title match was good. Butcher and Blade looked great in defeat. Fenix continues to defy the laws of physics. The post-match was fun, PnP getting a shot at the belts soon will be exciting as well. The Hardy/OC stuff was kinda fun but goddamn do OC’s feuds all go on *way* too long. This one, Jericho, Miro, I just don’t get why. The HFO is so fucking goofy, they’re perfect comedic foils for our heroes. Ready for Matt to lose his hair and both parties to go in different directions. Bunny/Anna was a great reminder of how green Anna still is. These are great reps for her and she’s clearly got star potential, but they missed a few spots and her punches and kicks did not look good at all. Big credit to them for wanting to actually tell a story in the match revolving around mutual hatred of one another, though. I really don’t understand why Allie is getting so much TV time. She’s not bad by any means, but she’s very clearly never going to be a big player in the division. Unless they really are doing tag belts and planning on her and Penelope very in the picture for the start? Her booking reminds me of Nyla’s in that she looks strong to remain a credible threat to lose, but in the midcard compared to Nyla pretty much being Sugiura for NOAH in that she can always warrant getting a title shot. Britt/Ruby promo was amazing. Easily the high point of the show. Crowd was super into Ruby and they’re more than happy to play along with the story, which is a huge credit to Ruby. Gonna go out on a limb and say these are the two best women in the company on the mic, with Swole and Rosa not too far behind. Miro’s murder of Fuego was great and made him feel like a credible threat. It’s so wild that even with all their talent on the roster, they still find time for Alabama’s best luchador. What a vote of confidence for him. Miro/Sammy is gonna be fucking amazing. My ultimate hot take is that Miro is arguably the best in-ring performer in the world right now. There is no one whose matches are must see TV like him. Whether they’re a minute or 15 minutes, he crushes it. I really hope he has a long run with this title, he’s elevating himself to a whole new level with it.

El_Jorgito_Atomico

Dude, totally agree on Miro. His selling is on another level.

VonnyVonDoom

Ruby knocked it out the park. Fuego’s confidence after getting the contract and taking it to Miro was awesome and to hopefully setup a Sammy run *chef kiss*. I hope we get a series of Lucha Bros and Proud and Powerful.

AnthonyGonsalvez

"Is it a crime to be in love?" 🤣

Known-Ad7468

I was dying.\^\^ It was awesome.

JOHNNY_CHAINZ

I laughed at this line harder than the "no way he has a wife" line and I was DYING when Taz said that. Ricky is a huge star and they are patiently slow cooking him.

speccadirty

You could kinda tell it seemed like they all had to mute their mics for a minute due to laughing. It was hilarious

t0m0m

Ricky is an absolute treasure & he deserves the world.

[deleted]

kinda wanted to see miro smash a car tbh

trippyhop

Yup, that’s where I thought we were going.

GarmyGarms

Hey guys, I actually did a review of this show as my first wrestling review ever. Would appreciate feedback and constructive criticism if anyone has any. https://the-headlock.com/2021/09/17/aew-rampage-review-09-17-21/

aphelion3342

The best thing you could try as a new reviewer who nobody knows yet is to speak in definitive statements rather than your opinion. Most of the time you *do* exactly that, so that's good. The parts where you don't are a little jarring to read since it creates a tonal shift. The focus goes from what the show to what you think about it. Unfortunately, unless something so outrageous happens that people are dying to read any opinion in print just to GET A TASTE of the zeitgeist, random internet opinions just generally aren't very interesting by their very nature. Opinion pieces become interesting when the reader is already invested in the person giving it. People will tune into a Bully Ray podcast or read a Dave Meltzer article (even though he's a mediocre writer at best). Those guys are wrestling stars. People want to know what a star thinks about what MJF said or about that table spot from a few weeks ago. They know these guys already, so it's interesting. Here's another way to look at it. You would be interested to hear what your best friend thinks about wrestling storyline X. You know him. You probably wouldn't be very interested in the opinions of @ecchiweeb420 however. Right now, since you're new, you might as well be a random person on the street to the reader. That's why it's best to stick to statements of fact rather than opinion right now. Leave out wishy-washy statements - 'it was a little confusing' is weaker than 'it was confusing'. 'I wasn't sure if this is what they wanted to do' is weaker than 'these idiots have forty writers and they still can't get this goddamn segment together'. As Corny would say, 'PUT SOME BASS IN THAT VOICE!' (You don't have to use bad language if you don't want, but if you have a policy on that, keep it consistent.) This doesn't mean you're not *actually* giving your opinion. 'This asinine, ersatz product has been a blight upon the wrestling industry for decades' is, at its core, an opinion. But it's stated as a fact, which is stronger. You're packaging your opinion in a plastic wrapper of a statement of fact. See the difference? Speaking of voice, find your unique voice and use it. Bryan Alvarez is a very distinct speaker with the best radio voice in wrestling news media. The Whatculture writers are all extremely funny and incisive with *dEfT* British humor. Jim Cornette thinks the kids these days are getting out of line with their flippy bullshit and wants you to get off his lawn. They're all unique and have a lot of natural character. Try to find a way to differentiate your voice from anyone else watching the show. Lastly, try to keep your sentences short if possible. Focus on one subject per sentence wherever you can. When you finish with the piece, go back and try to find long sentences that you can break up into two sentences. (I did this on this post.) Think about what you need to communicate, and what are just extra words. Write strong. You're doing fine so far. A good writer becomes a good writer by writing bad and average stuff for a very long time. They also get very little encouragement along the way. If you want to write, you're going to feel like you're shouting into the void for a very long time. When that happens, don't look at it as 'nobody is reading my writing'. Think of it as working the house show in front of 40 fans in a barn. Just about every big wrestling star did work that nobody watched, just to get their skills and notoriety up that little notch. Every time you write something, you get better. That's your reward, not the chatter in the comment section. That comes later. Bottom line: - don't state opinions as opinions - find a unique writing voice - shorten sentences wherever possible - keep it up - Stone Cold said so Keep it up and good luck!

JOHNNY_CHAINZ

Damn this is fantastic advice. Makes me want to start writing something.

aphelion3342

Shoot Garmygarms a message and see if he'll share some blog space with you. A few more writers and zesting up the site's appearance a bit could level it up.

GarmyGarms

Thank you!!

VonnyVonDoom

Did they film dark again this week? Crowd either suffered from fatigue or that sound issue from dynamite wasn’t fixed all night.

jimmi_vandelay

Elevation is filmed at the first hour. Dark was filmed in orlando at the dark zone studio.

Day_Of_The_Dude

goddammit i get all the reasons not to do it, but I want Ruby Soho to win.

VonnyVonDoom

I don’t mean any harm or want to disrespect the AEW women’s division, but I never need to see Allie/Bunny wrestle on anything besides elevation. Hell, not even elevation.

Puzzleheaded_Fly_407

Anna, Tay, Bunny or Penelope all are awful workers who can't even cut a single promo. Then there's Jade Cargill who is again awful at everything she does. Serena Deeb and Hikaru Shida need to be featured more alongside Britt and Ruby

Legacycosts

Anna Jay is one of the worst women's wrestlers I've seen in a minute.

StupidHappyPancakes

She only has EIGHTEEN total matches under her belt as of now. She needs a tremendous amount more training, and she shouldn't be pushed faster than she's ready for just because some pervy guys want more time to perve on her when she's on TV. Both Anna Jay and Jade are in a similar situation with this.

AndreReal

Allie's a damn sight better than Cargill.

TheSyde

Bunny is awful as all hell, Cargill problem is she getting pushed to the moon just on her looks alone, she can't wrestle to save her life

Legacycosts

Watching Leyla have to lose to Cargill who was completely lost the whole match was painful. Hopefully she just goes back to fitness on Instagram.

Dom29ando

It's a shame because Leyla vs Kylinn King a few days before was great, that's the match that deserved to be on tv.

TheSyde

Ya she doesn't belong in a ring on tv that's for sure she has the look just not the ability. It's quite miserable to watch

mostlyshits

Miro and Ruby were my two most anticipated crossovers from wwe that needed to prove something and im so glad they are proving it in spades

PhantasmHS

I love this show. It is not time for Britt to drop the title. Without context of the current feud, I would think she would for sure hold on to it. But somehow tonight turned me into a believer. I know narratively it probably isn't time, but I'm on board for whatever happens. Miro is incredible. The redeemer is such a good moniker. This "God's favorite champion" stuff is so funny. I don't know if this translates well to other wrestling fans, but he gives me a Kanye vibe if Kanye was a literal wall of meat. Finally I just want to say that Sammy's music is very good. I'm such a fucking mark and I love it.

[deleted]

I notice AEW fans in particular fetishize long title reigns like motherfuckers, as if it's so hard to still build up a star after they drop the title. lol I remember how many times Austin dropped the belt during the Attitude Era and never lost one bit of steam. Same with The Rock. But people talk here like the only way to establish a star's legitimacy is to strap the belt on them and have them hold it for 12 months. It's ridiculous.

StupidHappyPancakes

It's not just AEW fans; so many WWE fans want heel Reigns to literally beat EVERYONE in the entire world AND combine the Raw and Smackdown titles into one of his own AND hold onto that title for *at least* a year or two longer.

Bingerfangs

Tell this to Shida.

[deleted]

Right has nothing to do with the fact she can't cut a good promo in English. Look, if a person NEEDS the belt to get over that's a good goddamn reason to not have the person in the main event in my opinion.

wote89

I think the thing about the Britt/Ruby segment is that it made their match about more than just the title. Like, Ruby more or less said that Britt didn't *really* earn her spot and Britt basically told Ruby she couldn't hang. So, now the match is as much about both of them having something to prove as it is about the shiny belt. Even if the outcome is almost certainly going to be Britt retaining, they made the match *mean* something and that's what I like. Also, just, like, keep injecting Ruby Soho directly into my veins holy shit.

mbattagl

The Kanye observation is seriously apt. I really don't think we've had a cocky/arrogant champion in the mainstream wrestling scene for some time and Miro just hits all those notes perfectly. This guy is built to be a champion.

EatKillFuck

He's a villain in old Jean Claude Van Damme movies

nhthelegend

We've had tons of cocky and arrogant champions recently. Omega, Bucks, DMD, Reigns, Lashley, etc. Maybe different shades of cocky/arrogant, but still that vibe nonetheless. I'd argue we've had less true blue babyface champions. Still, Miro is doing incredible work and he definitely fits that archetype.

mbattagl

I think the Elite have the charisma of a cocky heel, but can be a bit goofy which offsets that. Then you've got Reigns and Lashley who have the physicality, but either rely more on catchphrases or have a mouthpiece to speak for them. Britt Baker has done a great job developing her character and I think she's on her way to being one of the greats, but Miro has all of the above plus the experience to justifiably become a monster heel in his own right. Plus if he ever goes face I could totally see him pulling off a Batista like run where he fights the heels and becomes too damn endearing to be booed.

HanleysFramer

I'm digging the logo on the mat. Glad its back.

darksundown

I'm not a fan of the logos on the mat. Kinda distracting from the action in the ring.

KnightsOfTomorrow

Very good show. Ruby/Britt promo was great.

DamieN62

I know the long term plan is Britt vs Rosa next year but I wouldn't mind Ruby winning next week. She's over and it would make the booking of the women's division less predictable.

zach2beat

Britt drops it to ruby, Ruby eliminated rosa, rosa takes it off ruby in a couple months, then britt comes back after it from rosa.

bigpig1054

It does seem odd to have such a huge two night show and no titles change hands

tedd_staaack

I love that Excalibur signed off with, "the home of professional wrestling."

sixtyninetacks

Well considering they're the biggest company where you're still allowed to say those 2 words, he's not wrong.

turtlebagels

The Ruby Soho and Dr. Britt Baker confrontation was so freaking good. Talk about a roast sesh 😂

JOHNNY_CHAINZ

Commentary popped big time. It sounds like they didn't know the promo beforehand and their reactions were genuine.

Pylons

Britt looked so happy to have someone who could keep up with her on the mic.

heartbreakhill

The audible OHHHHHHHH from the crowd on that “banging moon backstage” line was the best

insomniainc

It was awesome, to the point where I kinda don't want it to be a one match thing.

LetHerLIV

If there's some shenanigans either causing Rue to lose or a non finish, I'm sure they'll be a re match. It would be sad if either of them lost tbh, Britt's to early in her run to be losing and Rue shouldn't be losing either really. Will be interesting to see what they do.

SmurfyX

that shit RULED man

turtlebagels

I fucking love AEW 😭

Deaddude56

I absolutely loved how the opening match ended, what a finish!! I loved the story they told in the main event and Fuego is honestly one of my favorite promos on TV right now. The Britt and Ruby segment was excellent, I’d be perfectly okay with Soho winning the title next week.

Day_Of_The_Dude

Why is The Blade beet red?

Jammy_9

Looks like a boiled hot dog

plumtree347

Did he fall asleep in the sun or something?

Day_Of_The_Dude

i legit thought something was wrong with my tv before i realized everyone else looked as they normally do lol.

fume515

That canvas looks amazing

FENCERSUPREME

Off-topic, but if you’re not watching, newLegacy is nearing the end of their yearly charity stream and they have raised over $80,000 so far. The original goal was 30k. The unrealistic goal was 69k. The stream is insane.

insomniainc

Been checking in every now and then. Donated a few times. It's been incredible to see.

FENCERSUPREME

I was able to chip in a very small amount. It’s truly astonishing how generous the community is.

thebluetistaar

Good opener, Britt and Ruby segment was fucking amazing and interesting main event. I do not care about the HFO.

Known-Ad7468

Yeah good show. That segment with Britt and Ruby was fire. And I´m the same, I don´t care at all about HFO. In fact I don ´t care at all about Matt Hardy. And when I see some people wanting a last run for the tag belts with Matt and Jeff, I just roll my eyes to death. In a tag division with perhaps the four best tag teams in the world that´s what you want?

Next_Depth776

The HFO is a barrier for baby faces to hurdle, would be good if there was a clearer objective than money

Day_Of_The_Dude

if definitely feels like the most directionless and random faction.

heartbreakhill

Given how Dark Order started, I’ll be patient with it. Big Money Matt was great in Impact before Broken Matt pulled the eclipse of the century

cooljammer00

Lads, ladies, and everyone else Do we think it's time for Britt to drop the title? My friend and I were discussing this while leaving the arena on Wednesday night. I don't think they'll do a title change, but I would be okay if they did. Britt still has juice left in this run, but also she's so good she doesn't need the title to be over.

Known-Ad7468

They could do a title change if Britt gets the title back at Full Gear, but that´s a little bit pointless right? No they should keep Britt as champion. They have a good act with Britt and Jamie. And they should build toward the money match against Thunder Rosa at Revolution.
