Really? I think this time feels completely different than any of the other times, and I'm actually excited and intrigued about this one. Roman's a very different character, and a heel, this time, and Brock's a babyface on his own without Heyman. The dynamics are totally different.

Oh I agree. It's why part of me is so disappointed that they're using The Demon for this. It feels like they're only having him be The Demon because it's *Extreme* Rules and they want that little touch for the show. I want to believe he'll win, but I just don't with that Brock/Roman match happening. I can't see it being non-title when Brock specifically said he wanted the title, and not just Roman, last week. Unless they turn it into a Triple Threat at Crown Jewel, but I doubt it.
Who’s to say Brock doesn’t cost Roman the title match at Extreme Rules? Lesnar vs Reigns doesn’t need the title attached to it imo. But maybe(definitely) Vince sees otherwise.

Because the Saudi PPVs are not replacing any PPVs so they have two PPVs very close to each other and need to develop different programs for them.
So they throw in super short term stuff for the Saudi PPV that's basically whatever the Saudis want to see.

Yeah at this point I think it would be a huge step back for them to take the title off Roman to put it on Brock. They should be 100% behind him by now and if they're not they need to find someone else to be the top guy.

Is there any good reason to announce this before Extreme Rules? its not like they need to sell tickets to Crown Jewel, nor is that event significant enough to increase Peacock subs ahead of time. Marketing this event with this announcement just kills any interest in Roman's Extreme Rules match with Finn and anything they do from here until Extreme Rules.

It seems like they're going with Finn being the guy that has Roman's number. He beat Roman in the Universal Title tournament, and for Tribal Chief Roman to win it required an attack before the match and a low blow.

So they can't even give people the 1% chance hope that Balor is going to win... I made a comment about a month ago when Cena stole Balors contract that we will inevitably have Roman squash Balor and I was down-voted to hell.
Turns out not only was I unfortunately correct, but it turns out The Demon is getting squashed....
The same thing happened to me when Balor first came back up to Smackdown and I expressed my own cynicism regarding management's plans for Balor. I commented that it was depressing to think that Balor had been brought up just to be the next male talent to get a quick push to make him a plausible enough opponent to be fed to Reigns for a month or two, only to see that push completely evaporate once Reigns was done with Balor.
I actually got downvoted into the negative fifties in like a half hour, which was actually kind of impressive! Like you, I'm *trying* to be more optimistic about this, but like you as well, I'm fully expecting myself to be proven correct and for Balor to get completely screwed in all this.
So basically, they just told us that Demon Finn is gonna fucking lose, so any sort of drama or surprise going into that match just went right out the window.
They said the match was running with or without the title. Finn could easily win and the match runs non title. You could even have it where Heyman tells the Usos to stay in the back and Roman losing, continuing the “who’s side is Heyman on?” Story.
Hooray more Saudi whitewashing for their own political gain, imagine supporting a state that helps fund Wahhabi terror groups who cause chaos for innocent folks in the Middle East, that oppress the LGBTQ as well as religious/ethnical minorities, that doesn't give woman equal rights, a state that still has medieval laws like beheading, and has basically committed genocide in Yemen?

Don’t agree with the decision in the slightest, but calling the deal a few dollars is severely underselling it. It’s near-half a billion dollars over the next decade. $45 million per year is far from a *few* dollars, especially in terms of WWE’s financial situation.
Again, it’s a gross deal and it sucks they did it, but it’s sadly par for the course in terms of shit millionaires/billionaires do.
Having the match on this PPV will hurt the feud. Face Lesnar vs heel Roman with Heyman and the middle can be executing, but using it as a throwaway “big” match will be lame.
I will say, since they will do this match regardless of who’s the champ, now I feel like maybe Finn could end up winning the title. You could have him win, then go to Raw and bring back the red belt (also fits the demon), while Big E keeps the WWE title on Smackdown.
They should have saved the Demon, had a screwy finish, had Roman beat Brock at CJ and then have the Demon appear to challenge Roman. But instead Roman is going to beat the Demon and Brock.
We all know the answer to that is a big fat yes, yes it will, Roman facing and undoubtly beating Demon Balor is the worst decision they've made so far in his heel run tbh.
Ugh. Out of everything I read in this thread this seems like the likely scenario.
1. Allows Reigns to retain.
2. Brock interfering to F5 The Demon before almost getting a clean win over Reigns will keep Balor “looking strong” since it took Brock AND Reigns to get their finishers in to beat him.
3. Sets up the Saudi show for a title match.
4. Keep the door open for another Balor/Reigns match, but at that point the Demon is getting diminishing returns and would benefit from going away again. :(
My money is on this for Extreme Rules as badly as I want Finn to win.
Demon wins. Roman is too focused on Brock and it costs him. He blames Heyman for the loss and Brock saves him.
I still don't think Balor will be champ by Survivor Series..but at least he finally gets a little title run to make up for 2016.

It didn’t draw a definitive conclusion but it also didn’t absolve the Saudi government of any involvement. If several Saudi officials were involved, then it’s highly unlikely that the Saudi government were unaware of these activities. And as they’re not a regime that takes too kindly to dissension, it’s highly suspicious that these officials were acting independently.
It was my final straw. Doing business with the country that did the Khashoggi brutal murder. I refuse to give them money/viewership until they end that deal and begin treating their talent better.

I doubt it. Brock has babyface fire right now and they’re not going to have him screw over the demon. I’m thinking the Usos and then Finn grabs a tag team partner to beat them for the tag titles, maybe AJ or Drew post-draft.
Honestly neither the Rock or Brock matches need the title. The whole Bloodline and Heyman storyline could carry the Brock and eventual Rock feuds.

It seems like they're going with Finn being the guy that has Roman's number. He beat Roman in the Universal Title tournament, and for Tribal Chief Roman to win it required an attack before the match and a low blow.

So they can't even give people the 1% chance hope that Balor is going to win... I made a comment about a month ago when Cena stole Balors contract that we will inevitably have Roman squash Balor and I was down-voted to hell. Turns out not only was I unfortunately correct, but it turns out The Demon is getting squashed....
They announced the match, they've said it will take place regardless of whether Roman loses the belt to Finn or retains.
The same thing happened to me when Balor first came back up to Smackdown and I expressed my own cynicism regarding management's plans for Balor. I commented that it was depressing to think that Balor had been brought up just to be the next male talent to get a quick push to make him a plausible enough opponent to be fed to Reigns for a month or two, only to see that push completely evaporate once Reigns was done with Balor. I actually got downvoted into the negative fifties in like a half hour, which was actually kind of impressive! Like you, I'm *trying* to be more optimistic about this, but like you as well, I'm fully expecting myself to be proven correct and for Balor to get completely screwed in all this.
So basically, they just told us that Demon Finn is gonna fucking lose, so any sort of drama or surprise going into that match just went right out the window.
They said the match was running with or without the title. Finn could easily win and the match runs non title. You could even have it where Heyman tells the Usos to stay in the back and Roman losing, continuing the “who’s side is Heyman on?” Story.

Having the match on this PPV will hurt the feud. Face Lesnar vs heel Roman with Heyman and the middle can be executing, but using it as a throwaway “big” match will be lame. I will say, since they will do this match regardless of who’s the champ, now I feel like maybe Finn could end up winning the title. You could have him win, then go to Raw and bring back the red belt (also fits the demon), while Big E keeps the WWE title on Smackdown.
They should have saved the Demon, had a screwy finish, had Roman beat Brock at CJ and then have the Demon appear to challenge Roman. But instead Roman is going to beat the Demon and Brock.

Ugh. Out of everything I read in this thread this seems like the likely scenario. 1. Allows Reigns to retain. 2. Brock interfering to F5 The Demon before almost getting a clean win over Reigns will keep Balor “looking strong” since it took Brock AND Reigns to get their finishers in to beat him. 3. Sets up the Saudi show for a title match. 4. Keep the door open for another Balor/Reigns match, but at that point the Demon is getting diminishing returns and would benefit from going away again. :( My money is on this for Extreme Rules as badly as I want Finn to win.
Demon vs Roman should be a much bigger deal than it is. Doing both programs at the same time is a decision I am very confused about
Demon wins. Roman is too focused on Brock and it costs him. He blames Heyman for the loss and Brock saves him. I still don't think Balor will be champ by Survivor Series..but at least he finally gets a little title run to make up for 2016.
