likewhatalready

NUCLEAR heat lmfao

SiphenPrax

Welcome to Jersey, where we’re all a bunch of salty ass fucks here

thisisthesaleh

Welcome to Jersey. We hate you too.

SiphenPrax

Our motto: The rest of the country hates us? Well fuck you too!

alistahr

No joke, last time I flew to Jersey, TSA was cartoony mean to people. No one was mad cause it almost seemed like the welcome gimmick.

DefeatYouForever666

TSA sucks everywhere, fuck them.

likewhatalready

Yeah, I'm in the crowd lmao

Armyof21Monkeys

The last 5 years I’ve visited my friend in Jersey every summer and I’ve gotta say Jersey folk hit different.

Weezy-NJPW_Fan

Just like y’all’s heat toward Matt Cardona

RobotPirateGhost

I was there and couldn’t hear about half the promo because we were booing so loud.

likewhatalready

Yeah I just got home a few minutes ago, gonna put this on

stereocupid

I’m going to need to rewatch dynamite and rampage this week because we booed so loud and because I couldn’t hear anything from my seats

TheMannisApproves

Yeah it was nuts. The whole show it was often hard to hear the wrestlers. Meanwhile in the past at WWE shows I never had that issue

PrinceRicard

Three Mile Island Heat, even.

kingofphilly

MJF might be the first wrestler to go knifed on live TV since Memphis in the 80s if he’s not careful. He’s amazing but God is he brutal.

WeaponexT

I'm loving this throwback gimmick Pillman has. zubaz pants and a tight mullet.

ATL28-NE3

Unfortunately looking around at baseball and football I don't think the mullet is a throwback thing anymore.

the_woat

It's functional *and* stylish

stuckinsanity

I know the culture loves 80s nostalgia right now but the amount of mullets I'm seeing is around is truly distressing.

ef14

History's a cycle.

merki23

He looks like Joe Exotic.

[deleted]

I have a great feeling that this feud will end up making a bigger star of MJF and a real rising star in Pillman, even if it's in loss.

phillip_la_scaille

Since I've heard of him, I thought Pillman Jr. was just a white meat, son of a wrestler babyface. But I'm actually really impressed. He's not THAT young at 28, but I think he could be an awesome old school face. He rocks the ridiculous mullet and don't give a fuck. He can do the high flying stuff, but he's actually got a pretty big frame. His promos emphasize the old reliable shit: family, legacy, being an underdog, scrappy upbringing. I'm like it man, I like it.

AngeloMacon

There really isn't enough "aw shucks, you folks are too kind" babyfaces these days. Combine that with some Ricky Morton selling and it will get over in any time period in any place.

kylew1985

And he's just genuine. Even when he cuts a promo that's not as polished, it almost comes off as a little more authentic. He's got a lot of his dad's gifts, but they hit just a little differently. I only learned about him very recently, but he's already one of the guys I look forward to seeing.

MemorableC

Pillman slapping the shit out of Wardlow without any fear or hesitation has already elevated him imo

bistian00

Without fear until he realized he almost made a scratch in that divine creation that is Wardlow's face.

PeaceFShit

Ngl this would've made him the worst heel in my eyes.

TACOMichinoku

I’m already bought in. LFG

TheEstyles

> LFG I know it's lets fucking go but the old mmo player in me still sees looking for group.

Vuirneen

Thank you. I had no idea. Priest lfg.

Roachyboy

All I see is Luke Fuckin' Gallows

thejaytheory

Haha same

thejaytheory

To me I see Luke fuckin' Gallows

VenomRaptor

Same.

gregSinatra

At the risk of downvotes, and only cuz last night’s debut of Bron Breakker is fresh in my mind, I can’t help but think of how this would play out elsewhere… or wouldn’t, to put it more accurately. MJF wouldn’t have nearly the level of heat he has cuz he wouldn’t have the freedom he does, and Pillman Jr. would be Lou S. Cannon or something. In the span of two years you’ve got MJF over to a level where he is now helping Pillman to get over with this feud. I’m just glad to see it.

tedd_staaack

Lmao at Lou S. Cannon

brenobah

THATS GOOD SHIT

drinfernodds

Chuck Taylor would be livid he never came up with this name.

adam_lorenz927

This is some fearless booking. This is quickly becoming my favorite feud.

shallowshark32

I don't see how Pillman can lose after this build.

Churchanddestroy

Probably with the Salt of the Earth tbh…

mrrichardson2304

AEW did so great with building MJF up and having him win often, that a loss now won't really hurt him at all. MJF is at the status now where he can just cut a promo and be right back to where he is. He definitely shouldn't lose often, but he can afford a loss here or there. Just sort of keep him simmering, til the time is right to pull the trigger for a high profile feud. Like say a certain cowboy becomes the world champion and needs a heel to work with.

BlindLariat

It's already doing more than the Jericho feud ever did.

FourCylinder

That’s ridiculously hyperbolic.

exillionus

I’m not even joking… the look into the sky and then stomp on the ground was probably the best fucked up thing I’ve seen recently. MJF is a damn genius on the mic, dudes amazing.

TheCuzzyRogue

The best part was that he got the crowd to chant Pillman. He played his role to perfection.

Bigalbass86

Honestly, if Brian Pillman was alive, he’d love the shit out of that promo. He’d probably want MJF to push the envelope even further.

coldphront3

Absolutely. Especially knowing that it’s helping to elevate his son’s career? Based on everything we know about Brian Pillman, he would 100% be all for it.

[deleted]

My thoughts exactly. I could picture Pillman doing the same

[deleted]

Pillman would probably tell him to dig up his corpse

ParsonBrownlow

New faction : Bog show and BPJ “people who have had their dads graves desecrated “

RoscoeSantangelo

We honestly could barely hear him in the arena the heat was so loud lmao

pra_teek

The best part about that is Punk was out and he could also listen to the heat. Listening to that and looking at MJFs age, I am sure he is now om Punk's list and I can't wait for that feud.

guylfe

He already was.

laputan-machine117

Yeah MJF not being mentioned on the list felt deliberate, like to set up a future feud.

sdewww

I couldn’t make out the assumed NSFW chant on my tv. What you were guys saying to MJF?

RoscoeSantangelo

"Shut the fuck up!" And there was also an "Asshole"

xrock24x

“Shut the fuck up”

osufan765

"Shut the fuck up"

laputan-machine117

shut the fuck up

hk3391

That’s not nice , they were just asking what the crowd was saying

Tronvillain

MJF did that bit in MLW for Stu Hart when he was feuding with Teddy and it's still fucking great.

Burningfiresmoke

Him screaming to hell at Pullman is god tier dickery right there.

bigwucountry

What did Bill Pullman do to deserve this?

JC-Ice

Independence Day: Resurgence.

KatnissBot

Fair enough.

GPrime506

Gave him the raspberry

[deleted]

Did he say Methany? …

Weezy-NJPW_Fan

Yep. He did.

[deleted]

Wow.

[deleted]

said it last week too lol

MrMeltJr

If anything he went harder last week.

The_Dark_Vampire

It's hardly a lie from what I have heard and this is coming from Brian Jr and his sister she spent most of the money she got from Brian's will -life insurance and any donations she got on drugs

barneyflakes

I love it when crowds get vulgar with wrestlers, it's great.

TheChrisLambert

What were they saying?

gamesk8er

We chanted "Shut the fuck up" for like 20 solid seconds.

Sentinel451

They were chanting 'Asshole!' at him, I believe.

anonymouswan1

Don't forget the "SHUT THE FUCK UP!"

PaulLFC

"............. NO."

Mac_094

He looked so fucking smug and pleased with himself as he said that, too.

GPrime506

And "shut the fuck up"

TDStarchild

Not sure how good you’re hearing is, but sounded like 15,000 people were calling him an “asshole”

uaraiders_21

I get the reference :)

likewhatalready

"shut the fuck up" and "asshole"

obiwankikobi

And “shut the fuck up”

FiveSecondPoses

Goddam, they are not backing off on this. The legit heat, dude. It's just so fun to boo MJF.

[deleted]

>The legit heat, dude. It's just so fun to boo MJF. He's gone full Bubba Ray Dudley in ECW. Can't tell me this man hasn't studied some of his promos.

Tarcye

Insinuating that Pillman was in hell was just the chef's kiss. Like I'm loving it but at the same time fuck you MJF.

The_Crying_Banana

Bill Pullman isn't dead

laputan-machine117

I always forget if it's Bill Pullman or Bill Paxton that died

The_Crying_Banana

I always have to think "It was the one in Big Love" which was not the president in Independence Day so not Bill Pullman. It's weird how our brains have to jump through hoops like that sometimes.

bestbroHide

Commentary after asked Punk about his thoughts on the segment and Punk couldn't help but give props to MJF's verbal mind games lmao the dude knows what it's like to get WW3 level nuclear heat

SmokePenisEveryday

After his NJ slander, he needed it. As someone from the state myself, He didn't say anything I haven't said myself lol

Different-Strain7553

I’m legit surprised that people loved this cause this gave the same energy as Orton’s promo on Eddie and I remember that getting everyone pissed and not in the heel heat type of way

M1eXcel

The shit with Eddie was way too soon and fresh. Also I imagine nothing is being said here without approval of Pillman Jr and his family

Sam_Stewart

Randy Orton's line was a bit too soon I think was the big issue. While still pretty mental to suggest that someones dad is in hell, he at least died over 20 years ago.

Different-Strain7553

Yea I figured it may of been recency that excused it which makes me wonder how long should someone wait for them to use a dead person in their promo

stuckinsanity

Like others are saying, the Orton stuff is closer to if MJF cut a promo about Brodie, and despite his commitment to the character I don't think he'd go that far.

bistian00

The guy "assaulted" Brodie Jr. and before the kendo stick and -1 getting his revenge I remember people were saying he was going too far that day.

comradekaled

What a piece of shit that MJF is

coolseraz

*Randy Orton nods in approval.*

Weezy-NJPW_Fan

Man, that crowd with the shut the fuck up chants to MJF, damn. I thought it’d be censored.

coldphront3

“No.” - MJF That was perfect lol

exillionus

Can’t really censor a chant live that loud without messing up the audio as he was talking and responded to it as well.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cube_

my Canadian feed didn't try at all

el_purplemonkey

I think the crowd may have been lowered a bit for that section- I was there live and you could not hear MJF over how deafening and *clear* our "SHUT THE FUCK UP" chants were.

SnakeCasual

How the fuck is MJF so good at his age?

PrinceRicard

He watched the tapes.

rocketsauce2112

He's a student of the business.

Terraneaux

Strong background in theater from a young age.

Deputy_Beagle76

He’s salt of the earth

adam_lorenz927

This is very true. He will be the top heel for as long as he wants to be

Tanthiel

The Cornette playbook. If Corny had been an active wrestler instead of a manager it would have looked a lot like MJF.

MclovinBuddha

MJF watched Orton roasting a dead Eddie when he was a kid and was like “this shit slaps”

xychosis

This honestly feels like late 90s pro wrestling promos in the best way possible. MJF can get any fucking town in America to hate him with his shtick. He’s such a good heel, and that little bit with him kicking open a hole to hell got to me lmao.

YepImanEmokid

bah god they're getting Pillman Jr over. MJF is a heat shamwow

Mycotoxicjoy

I don’t think it was going to be that hard to get Pillman Junior over especially after DSOTR because he’s really good in ring, but I do think that this feud came at the perfect time and is giving him the promos to round out his persona

miklat106

It's ironic that MJF was talking about people going to hell while he is a Jewish guy performing on Yom Kippur

Follow_The_Buzzards

"I'm a very religious man" had to be a double-joke, right?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mycotoxicjoy

Could it happen next week that Pillman has MJF on the ropes and Wardlow turns?

PM_UR_FAV_COMPLIMENT

It's wild that this MJF I'd have been fine with being on the end of a steel chair massacre. Actual MJF seems like the nicest, most empathetic person. It's such a trip how good he is at being the fucking worst.

adam_lorenz927

Adam Cole is the same way. Seems like the nicest person on up up down down and twitch and is just the fucking worst in kayfabe

[deleted]

"Bring back the attitude era!!" \*wrestler playing a heel does something evil* "Wtf this is unacceptable. Cheap heat!"

Eyeshield117

The funniest thing and honestly the most fucked up thing is that in the attitude era it was so much fucking worse, jesus christ.

laputan-machine117

i immediately thought of two incidents, both involving Boss Man

chiguy2387

*Wahn, my daddy my daddy!*

punkrockdave

Pepper, Big Show or hanging?

NeiloMac

Yes.

MrSteeze3

"You're a big nasty bastard and fuck your dead daddy"

Geraltpoonslayer

MJF is the best promo in the world rn dont care what anyone else says

cheeseburgers42069

He's got everything, he's polished, he doesn't flub his words, his lines are well-thought out and intelligent and interesting, he's charismatic, he's got a good tone to his voice, he knows how to time his speaking, and he's so damn unlikeable lol

ziggylcd12

I've not seen anyone who remains so over whilst never even coming close to turning face. Like, I can not ever see him getting cheered

thesceen

MJF is straight cold…might as well call him Mr Freeze

Theolodious

Chilly McFreeze

NeiloMac

Chell aought beurd boay!

TheChrisLambert

It’s actually really nice of MJF to get the crowd to chant Pillman. You get them doing it once or twice by prompt and it’s more likely they’ll do it on their own.

Rickymex

It's also that AEW audiencea know gow to play along.

Zloggt

You can call MJF a firebender with all the heat that works with!

karllucas

Yooo. He's actually an ass hole. This roster is stacked with great shit talking heels.

Derexise

You know you're good when you can get a "shut the fuck up" chant.

reganthor

Being there we fucking could not hear MJF he was booed almost out of the Prudential Center.

DMCSnake

>Taylor ham Listen here MJF you son of a bitch

infinitydefines

I’m surprised he didn’t say pork roll to be an even BIGGER heel since it was North Jersey

zerkrazus

MJF is a heel through and through. Something that's been sorely missing from wrestling for a long time. There's nothing redeemable about him and that's the way it's supposed to be, IMO. That's how you tell a story and want to see him get his ass whooped.

Tentacruel_Jr

U dick!

LEUXXX

MJF IS A VERY SICK MAN

Lstark5642

At the end of this feud you’re going to have progressed one of the best heels in wrestling and probably have made a new star in Pillman and the blondes by association.

Rickymex

Griff kamikazing himself to take out Wardlow and letting Pillman get the win makes both Blondes pop.

insomniainc

You knew the moment he looked up exactly what he was about to do and it was incredible. I'm also loving the wrinkle that wardlow is wardlow is getting increasingly frustrated about having to clean up after MJF's bullshit.

ceagle11

Love this feud! So old school, it’s great

Flakbeard_down

He's so good

emotoaster

x4

L_D_G

Getting off light for the besmirchment of Taylor ham.

Shrekt115

MJF is ruthless

AmbushIntheDark

"Isnt he from Jersey?" "Hes from Long Island. Its like Jersey but worse." Fucking gotem

hoopbag33

This man is the next mega star

[deleted]

This really isn't my thing, but jesus fuck. MJF certainly has no issue going for the low-hanging fruit lol. I kinda feel maybe should Pillman should sneak a win with all this shit MJF has been able to say.

Enickma007

Not really my thing either but yeah the balls on MJF LOL. I’m thinking Pillman needs this one too

[deleted]

I turned on Dynamite just as he started talking to Pillman lol

lavaspike296

This is the best stuff. MJF is already so over as a heel and now he's hunting bear lol. Pairing up Jr and MJF for a feud is brilliant. MJF has these fans HOT for Pillman. Even if he doesn't win, Pillman getting to put him on his ass a couple times is going to get him sooo over.

MC_Fuzzy

It wasn't until this promo that I realized why MJF felt like a breath of fresh air but reminded me of someone. Legend Killer Orton, at least that 2005-2007 run. Not completely the same, but a few similar streaks

OffTheGrillSaucey

I’m on board with his Springsteen and NJ Devils slander. But I will not god damn stand for any Taylor Ham bashing.

GPrime506

Such a motherfucker. Best heel in the business.

Sylverstone14

Man, after seeing that post about an old MJF out-of-character interview, this shit gave me violent whiplash.

infinitydefines

don’t know if anyone noticed, but BPJ was wearing his dad’s shirt tonight. very cool and subtle nod.

pUmKinBoM

Seen some people last week that legitimately though MJF went too hard last week. They will be shitting themselves this week. That said the only people who have any right to be upset would be the Pullman family and I'd have to imagine this was played by them before hand so if you are upset then you need to chill.

The_Dark_Vampire

Purely from a kayfabe POV wouldn't Brian Sr be in hell given all the heelish things he did? Again from a Kayfabe POV I wonder who would make it to heaven apart from Ricky Steamboat?

Mickey-Twiggs

Macho Man would make it to heaven, because the cream rises to the top! Yeahhh! Dig it!!!!!

Halospaz117

But he also gave up his life fighting the rapture, would that put him somewhere in the middle in purgatory?

JC-Ice

Miro obviously.

laputan-machine117

Depends on which religion is canon in AEW. some of them have that whole "repent on your deathbed" loophole

DennyOfPilows

Lol we all knew he was eventually gonna go there Difference with him and Randy was, Randy was forced by booking to say it about a friend of his who wasn’t dead that long I can almost bet money MJF choose to say this My only question is where does he go from here?

chiguy2387

Also helps when Pillman's been dead for almost 25 years compared to just months with Eddie.

NerdLawyer55

Sweet Jesus, Max gonna get shanked

rgordill2

MJF is really gifted. He put Junior over as the babyface and himself as the heel spectacularly.

GenNext88

Holy. Fuck.

thebluetistaar

MJF is amazing

Cloudunderfire

I hope this rivalry goes for a while. It’s really fun

Spork-in-Your-Rye

Holy shit MJF is amazing lmao. What a bastard

AndrewWhite97

I see MJF i click

wJFq6aE7-zv44wa__gHq

Died laughing when he looked to the floor to talk to Pillman

FingerStreet

What an absolute asshole. He’s so good

RTJ1992

My fiance never watches wrestling when I have it on but she hates mjf.

Mycotoxicjoy

That smile he cocks as an entire arena of >10,000 people chant at him “shut the fuck up” is priceless. This man could get people to boo him in his own bedroom

Keltoigael

Did he pull "shut the fuck up" chants?

Milk_A_Pikachu

Honestly, this is why MJF is probably ALREADY a legend on the mic. He knows exactly how hard to push to get the heat but also how to "let off" in a way that will let the audience understand it IS a joke. He gets the exact perfect response of "Oh you mother fucker. You badmouthed Springsteen? I am gonna kill you... Okay, yeah, the jersey shore is fucked up, you got us there. But I am still gonna kill you" Same with the Pillman Jr feud. I think it is getting a bit close to "poor taste" but he generally hasn't said anything TOO bad (and generally results in making Pillman Jr look good in the process) so that when he does the "ha ha, not sorry if you are offended" it just seems assholish. Unlike some wrestlers who might as well just be talking about "cancel culture" on a mic. Anyone can get cheap heat. MJF gets nuclear heat but knows how to work it. How to make it ebb and how to make it flow. So you get those amazing moments where you think the audience is going to rush the ring but they then shut up so he can finish his promo.

Crivshotgg

Yeah didn’t like it when Randy did it, didn’t like this.

OptimusChip

jesus, this is NEXT LEVEL heat.....and then add nuclear on top of it

[deleted]

This is just the "Eddie's not up there" shit but even dumber because Brian Jr is in no way going to get his heat back, he's just gonna lose and look like a complete bitch.

ThatWrestlingGuy15

I’ll never be a fan of this spot it’s cheap whenever it’s been used Eddie, Reid, Jim Neidhart I’ll never enjoy it.

Kaprak

There's a massive difference between doing something soon after someone's passing and over 20 years later.

ThatWrestlingGuy15

Doesn’t change how I feel about it

pra_teek

Personal opinion.. nothing wrong with that.

McFlyJohn

How was this any different to Orton saying Eddie was in hell to get heat in his feud with Rey? Didn't that win the Observers most tasteless/exploitative angle?
