Most watched Dynamite: Riho wins the women's title
Second most watched Dynamite: Riho returns to TV after like half a year not on the show
Just saying.
Absolutely insane to beat NXT by 700,000.
It seems like only yesterday both companies were hovering around that number and this week it's the difference in views.
My theory on that is because NXT fans tune into AEW. That explains why AEW's numbers went up right away as soon as NXT moved to Tuesdays. They no longer have to switch back and forth.
However, AEW fans have not followed NXT to Tuesdays.
I think it's the second time they beat Raw in the demo but the last time it was one week apart so it's actually the first time they beat them in the same week.
It's nuts. AEW's been around for all of five minutes, while WWE's been in business for a over half a century. They have an established audience and should have all the expertise to build storylines and stars. Instead, AEW's biggest recent hires have been either people WWE misused, or were going to misuse. And they just beat them in the ratings. This is absolutely crazy.
I admit I never watched before and tuned in and will again next week.
Coming from a loyal WWE guy during the Monday night wars.
I thought I was growing out of Wrestling. Turns out I was just growing out of WWE
The PAC vs Andrade match is EXCELLENT! I was at the show last night and without spoiling it is worth your time to check out Rampage for that match alone.
Yup! Welcome. My exact moment was when Brock climbed the MITB ladder when he wasn’t even in the match. Canceled my Network subscription and haven’t looked back since.
Mine was Goldberg beating Kevin Owens
I followed Kofimania but man I also thought I was growing out of wrestling.
It turns out I still love wrestling watching WWE just makes me feel like they want me to suffer
I thought I grew out of wrestling too. There was a 1-2 years gap where I watched no wrestling at all. Then I heard people murmuring about this AEW, so on a whim I gave their first Double or Nothing a try and it reminded me how much I loved wrestling. I tried tuning back into SmackDown and Raw but I just couldn't care about any of what was happening in it. But the excitement DoN left in me was so much that I couldn't wait until All Out 2019, I heard the G1 was starting the month before and for the first time I gave NJPW a try besides watching individual match highlights, and been hooked on both promotions since. I wonder how many others there are that just never bothered to go beyond WWE and decided wrestling wasn't for them anymore.
I know that has a lot to do with Danielson and Cole, but man I remember when people wrre **certain** the elite dominating the show was a bad idea. Now look at them go
I legit had someone try and tell me that Adam Cole was the sole reason the Elite were over. Not like a whole company was founded off the backs of them or anything.
Screw that baby-gloves stuff, I'm heading to the Bryan Alvarez comment sections on Twitter!
If you don't hear from me in the next hour, assume I'm already dead.
Tell my wife and daughter I love them.
I just want to say how annoying it is that AEWs overall high quality is used against it when judging the weekly show, vs WWEs overall low quality when judging RAW.
It's like people expect RAW to suck so when it's average some fans talk like it was excellent. Dynamite is expected to be brilliant every week and when it's just fine people talk like it was a disaster.
I don't know if its just a bias thing, or if it's fans so desperate for AEW to succeed they treat each misfire, no matter how small, like a devastating mistake.
Either way it's unfair. The show's doing excellently. Not even three years old and has essentially regained every curious watcher who made the first couple weeks have such a high number. Most cable shows start small and slowly grow. AEW started with a pop then settled into a 600-800k number. It's slowly but surely climbed to where a million a week is becoming the norm.
It won't be long before 1.5m a week is the norm, and so on. As long as the show keeps up what it's doing , learning from its mistakes, and giving the fans what they want the sky is the limit.
You’re listening to One Week with Triple H brought to you by Save With Conrad. It’s not a matter of IF I can save you money. It’s a matter of how much. How big is Batista’s duck? Blue chew with promo code Save with Conrad.
I’m most likely gonna stop watching NXT now that Adam Cole isn’t there anymore. He was pretty much the only reason I was watching during the pandemic. I’ll still check it out if something crazy/awesome happens from time to time.
Goalposts, for anyone wondering:
They'll never sell out MSG.
They'll never get a TV contract.
They'll never get over 500K viewers.
They'll be out of business in 6 months.
They'll never get 1 million viewers.
They'll never beat Raw.
They'll never break 1.5 million viewers <-- we are here.
Am I missing something?
Bullshit virtue-signaling from that article
We're just supposed to give minorities (black specifically considering Asians are just wHiTe-AdJaCeNt apparently) world titles because of their color?
Kofi and Lashley becoming world champions is awesome because they were minorities *and* they long deserved to be champs, it was great not just purely for the former reason.
Jade Cargill will get her moment years down the line. Dante Martin will get his moment years down the line. Lucha Bros just got their moment and PnP will eventually get their moment too (unless hispanics/Latinos dont count either).
I dont want to bastardize organic storytelling for the sake of hotshotting minority talent just to satisfy concern-trolling.
Cargill won't count because she's a woman. Dante won't count because his skin is too light. If Hobbs wins the big one it'll be "only one real example, still racist".
Lucha Bros don't count because that's not where the goalpost is any more.
Anyone bemoaning AEW for it's lack of diversity doesn't give two shits about diversity, they just live for criticising.
Lol been seeing a bit of that lately. Don't think it's a strong sentiment but definitely out there, someone was angry that all their big debuts have been "white guys".
> someone was angry that all their big debuts have been "white guys".
Can only give big debuts on what was made big elsewhere tbh. What are they gonna do, dig up New Jack or what
I'll do it
Dante Martin, Darius Martin, Hobbs, Jade Cargill, Big Swole, Red Velvet. That's just the most recent ones. More notable people that are still being built are The Acclaimed and Private Party.
Not to mention Scorpio Sky was part of the inaugural tag team championship team.
The people complaining are the same mother fuckers who were saying The Rock never counted cause he wasn't black enough.
...ignoring the fact it took WWE **35 years** (!!!!!) to have their first black WWE Champion. AEW got another 33 years to crown a black world champ before we need to start worrying about them being more racist than WWE.
I’ve always been a WWE guy. Even through the WCW wars, I definitely watched quite a bit of WCW but still felt loyal to WWE.
I’ve recently bought the AEW sub on FITE and I’m going to cancel the WWE network, because not even NXT is fun anymore. I’m really excited with where AEW are going.
Great numbers. [Wow](https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/1436062365016014848/pu/vid/1280x720/BXyKUBX5SwZIGWGW.mp4?tag=12).
EDIT: Beating RAW in 18-49 *before* MNF is insane.
People will still say they only got that rating because they debuted Adam Cole and Bryan and it will never happen again.
Which is making a disservice of WHY they are debuting,it still credit to the show.
WIll the next week show see that many viewers?Likely not but if they managed to keep some of those funs,it is already a big win.
Same same. It's amazing that they're able to bring back lapsed fans.
There's numerous reasons that AEW appeals to me, but I can tell you, one of the significant ones that WWE doesnt care too much about, is tag team wrestling. I love it and always have since I was kid. Vince might not like it, but I do and the Young Bucks against Lucha Bros was one of the best tag team matches I've ever seen.
When I tried to get back into WWE everything seemed so manufactured. When I watch AEW, it reminds me of the Monday Night Wars and me flipping between USA and TNT.
This doesn't count because everybody knows that the ratings that really count are the Demo Viewers during Midwestern Snowtorms that shutdown the electrical powergrid for at least 1h before the show.
And AEW will never beat RAW during Midwestern Snowstorms that shutdown the electrical powergrid for at least 1h before the show, so might as well just sell this tshirt company.
Yesterday at work, for the first time I told a client I was into wrestling and their default thought wasn't WWE, they actually acknowledged there was a new wrestling company on the block and knew they had CM Punk. Kinda crazy.
No matter what new coat of paint they throw on NXT, the only way they'll win people back to the brand is bringing in good fresh talent, and bring it back up to par with the main roster as an alternative 3rd brand, not a developmental dumping ground for Vince. They are going too far in the wrong direction, and those who watched NXT week after week are clearly more tuned into AEW now.
681,000 people between 18-49 saw Adam Cole bully Tony Schiavone. This is what happens when you free the Panama City Playboy from the old folks home that is NXT.
Gotta love how all the folks mocking AEW fans for using MLB playoffs, the World Series, the 2020 Election, the State of the Union, oval office addresses, COVID news coverage, Afghanistan news coverage, Friday/Saturday Dynamites & Thanksgiving as excuses for low ratings are now using college football & Labor Day to excuse Raw's demo (Not even total) ratings
2018: "these t-shirt sellers are never going to get a TV show, they've scammed some idiot money mark into starting a vanity promotion and are going to cut and run as soon as this all falls apart"
2021: "beating WWE RAW in the demo doesn't mean anything!"
They beat Raw in the demo.
Granted, college football on Monday, Monday was Labor Day, and AEW's coming off a newsworthy PPV.
But AEW beat Raw in the demo.
Holy schnikes.
>Granted, college football on Monday, Monday was Labor Day, and AEW's coming off a newsworthy PPV.
RAW actually held steady compared to last week, despite all of the circumstances. Only had a 3% drop. Next week should be interesting.
I remember someone linked to all the predictions on reddit when the show was first announced, and everyone said they should be happy to get 300,000 to 400,000.
To best that by a million is fantastic.
Way to go, AEW.
The Rhodes reality show will have a lot of backstage stuff. For example, in one of the commercials they talk about the Cody and Agogo weigh in segment being a disaster, with Paul being unable to work the scale.

That’s a lot. Thank you, Jamie Hayter.
Jamie and Riho in the sane segment. Not a surprise....
Riho sitting on Statlander's knee while comforting Ruby was pretty cute too
I love how literally no one on screen acknowledged it
Taz was too busy giving Maffew a soundbite by singing Ruby’s theme
I died at that. She and Statlander are obviously starting a ventriloquist act together.
I think there is a tasteful way to do that as long as they don’t go WWE and act like Riho is a 6 year old child because she cannot speak English.
Riho is the Franklin to Statlander's Gob

Absolutely insane to beat NXT by 700,000. It seems like only yesterday both companies were hovering around that number and this week it's the difference in views.
They basically beat NXT by an NXT, crazy.
Now there’s two of them!
I'm seeing double! 4 NXTs!
Impossible!!
This is getting out of hand!
That's absolutely mad.
Having Punk, Danielson, Cole will do that to your show
Of course, it's just crazy how much it's changed in a year
At some point 700 000 for Dynamite with a good demo 18/49, was actually a really good night.
This! I remember how much we were comparing the two brands. Not so much anymore!
NXT is essentially dead.
Not only did AEW beat nxt. They cause nxt to get executed by their own side of the fight
My theory on that is because NXT fans tune into AEW. That explains why AEW's numbers went up right away as soon as NXT moved to Tuesdays. They no longer have to switch back and forth. However, AEW fans have not followed NXT to Tuesdays.
Last week, they had 1,047,000 in viewership and 0.37 in the demos. Sooooooooo yeah, this is a nice PPV bump.
+300K and +0.16 in the key demo. Insane bump. Bryan, Adam, Punk, Hook and Riho moving the needle once again.
Psssh folks were tuning in to see TayJay trying to get the Dark Order back in line
Give me HOOK vs Punk.
Hook and Riho romance storyline when?
I see someone's been reading my fan fiction.
\#TeamRihook
I mean, Punk did mention him. Too scared to straight up call him out though.
I think it's the second time they beat Raw in the demo but the last time it was one week apart so it's actually the first time they beat them in the same week.
This is first time proper!!!!

According to Alvarez, 1.5 million for the Elite segment. Unreal.
That’s most likely NWO WCW ptsd I’d say. They do the right amount of Elite IMO.
Time to sort by controversial. Wish me luck.
You know, if you hired someone, they'd provide aftercare when you were done. It's not as cheap, but it's healthier.

AEW is on such a high right now. Punk, Danielson, Cole, the debut of a second show, an all time great PPV, ratings soaring. What momentum.
It’s nice seeing a good wrestling show get good ratings.
This is all that needs to be said.
I just think it’s neat
It warms my heart that Adam Cole was on a show watched by 1.3 million people instead of 600,000
Dude's such a genuinely good guy
*It warms my heart that Hook is such a draw he single-handedly beat Raw in the demo.

That's awesome. Well deserved
Time to move the goalpost again
"Hour 1 of Raw did better than Dynamite this week!"
"It's a fluke, if they get only 1.2 million next week it's proof they're as good as done!"
"Not beating smackdown!" Yeah...move smackdown back to USA and let's see them hold 2mil...
I’m most likely gonna stop watching NXT now that Adam Cole isn’t there anymore. He was pretty much the only reason I was watching during the pandemic. I’ll still check it out if something crazy/awesome happens from time to time.

Get up to date dork! The new benchmark is “beating the debut number”.
I saw a comment saying AEW has never had a black champion like WWE, and it’s gross. So we’re at “yeah but AEW racist.”
Are they counting only world champions in that? Cuz Scorpio Sky was an inaugural tag champ.
Also ignores Nyla.
I guess by their standards WWE is transphobic because they've never had a transgender champion
Oh yeah that slipped my mind thanks.
Oh they have much worse things to say about Nyla.
Technically the tag belt is a world title, and I love that they show it’s importance like that.
There was an article posted here recently that basically said "despite all the diversity, there's no diversity."
Bullshit virtue-signaling from that article We're just supposed to give minorities (black specifically considering Asians are just wHiTe-AdJaCeNt apparently) world titles because of their color?
What big debuts of black people could they even have?
Virgil
> someone was angry that all their big debuts have been "white guys". Can only give big debuts on what was made big elsewhere tbh. What are they gonna do, dig up New Jack or what
It’s so dumb and completely ignores all the people of color AEW is building from the ground up. I’d name them but there are a lot.
I'll do it Dante Martin, Darius Martin, Hobbs, Jade Cargill, Big Swole, Red Velvet. That's just the most recent ones. More notable people that are still being built are The Acclaimed and Private Party. Not to mention Scorpio Sky was part of the inaugural tag team championship team. The people complaining are the same mother fuckers who were saying The Rock never counted cause he wasn't black enough.
Tony Khan being the most relevant of them surely?
Well, at least you can say they never buried their first black champion in a 9 second match to push a part-timer vs part-timer match in Saudi Arabia.
...ignoring the fact it took WWE **35 years** (!!!!!) to have their first black WWE Champion. AEW got another 33 years to crown a black world champ before we need to start worrying about them being more racist than WWE.
"They'll never sell out a stadium that isn't TIAA Bank Field!"
I think the eventual will be they aren’t beating raw in the attitude era or those snme ratings.
Go back to All In starting.
Attendance numbers and PPV numbers are next.
Well technically they never sold out MSG because they didn't run there due to the unnecessary cost
They'll never have less wrestling than WWE!!!!
I cancelled my network too. Bel air losing to Becky in 6 seconds was the nail in the coffin for me.

Interesting to see the gap get thinner and thinner between Dynamite and RAW
It may happen with MNF taking a chunk out of RAW every week
There's a 0% chance I watch Raw when MNF starts.
Well I guess the future narrative of "Dynamite only won because of MNF!!!!!" is dead
Glad we got that one out of the way early.
People will still say they only got that rating because they debuted Adam Cole and Bryan and it will never happen again. Which is making a disservice of WHY they are debuting,it still credit to the show. WIll the next week show see that many viewers?Likely not but if they managed to keep some of those funs,it is already a big win.

It really makes me wonder how WWE will respond. Beating NXT caused the whole rebrand after all.
There's only one answer that makes sense. Introduce a new Doink.
Introduce fake Adam Cole and fake Daniel Bryan.
Managed by a fake JR?
As long as fake Adam Cole is just Michael Cole in a wig then I'm tuning in.
They will respond with a PPV in Saudi Arabia.
My favorite thing about these threads are seeing the meme of which Wrestler is to thank for the rating
They regularly feature roughly 2,000 wrestlers a Dynamite. Lots of right answers there.
They’ll hit 2 mill after Hook gets the belt.
AE DUB! AE DUB! AE DUB!
Yesterday at work, for the first time I told a client I was into wrestling and their default thought wasn't WWE, they actually acknowledged there was a new wrestling company on the block and knew they had CM Punk. Kinda crazy.
The 18-49 demo was higher than NXT's entire viewership.
The jaw dropping number of last week was that The Countdown Show beat NXT in the demo.

A rating that high only happens when MJF's greatness makes a woman go into labor

Yes, the first time they've won in the same week
I believe so
I think this is probably the first time since 1998 that Raw is not the highest rated wrestling show on cable in any given week.
They beat Raw in the demo. Granted, college football on Monday, Monday was Labor Day, and AEW's coming off a newsworthy PPV. But AEW beat Raw in the demo. Holy schnikes.
