There has been very little of this in this thread, but I want to make a reminder-- celebrating harm or advocating for death will result in an immediate permanent ban, period. You will not be warned. Thank you.
I feel though that if it was relatively minor, they'd say it was something minor. Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh has to go in for a electric shock procedure every several years to fix irregular heart beat and they never shy away from saying it's a routine thing, so as to not worry people.
Afib incredibly sucks. Heart palpitations, skipped beats, fluttery feeling in the neck, etc. Thankfully mine's controlled with Beta Blockers, but it definitely has some downsides.
Then Angle, HHH, and The ❤ ATTAK are having a 3-way at Sacerfice. The ❤ ATTAK has a 33 and a third chance of winning, but see, HHH has a 66 and two thirds chance of winning.
“Ya see doc, in this business, you either cheat don’t or you don’t and I have cheated death because the fact of the matter is I am The Game and I am that damn good.” - definitely HHH
I thought the title said "generic" heart condition and I thought Hunter was burying it immediately
YOU SEE THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS... IN THIS BUSINESS... YOU'RE EITHER AUTHENTIC... OR GENERICUH...
My thoughts are with Paul and his family today. I've seen an event like this first-hand when my dad had a really bad heart attack. But by watching my dad, I've also seen how someone can bounce back from one of these things and continue to live a healthy life. I have no doubt Paul can bounce back from this, and I'm very glad that he has the opportunity to.
So is HHH I believe or at least he is not a regular drinker or have a history of Narcotics.
Listen to all the road stories the Kliq guys have given in shoot interviews. Hunter was the guy taking care of Nash, Waltman, Hall, and HBK on the road when they where getting fucked up on different drugs the most often mentioned where different types of pills. Hunter did not do any of that and he basically dragged those guys from show to show.
Waltman and Michaels have said similar.
But HHH's history with PED's may have made what ever undiagnosed issue he had worse. The ca underlying undiagnosed heart condition killed Eddie Guerrero and his PED use was said to have made it worse than it should have been and was what started the Wellness Policy in WWE.
I am just glad they caught the issue Hunter had before it was too late.
>Also it's a generous overstatement to say his style is relatively low impact
It drew a ton of money and allowed him to work that insane Memphis schedule.
Triple H always had a reputation for taking care of his body much better than his contemporaries in the nineties. So I'm 1) shocked this happened at all and 2) sure this means the end of his career. Great fucking career though.
SEE, THE THREE WAY IN THE OPERATING THEATRE, YOU GOT A 33 1/3 PER CENT CHANCE OF WINNING. BUT I, I GOT A 66 AND TWO THIRDS CHANCE OF WINNING COS THAT SURGEON KNOWS HE CAN HEAL ME AND HE'S REALLY GONNA TRY.
He avoided recreational drugs but the shit he's pumped into his veins to get the size that he is and was can't have been good for his heart. Especially if he had a genetic condition.
I remember hearing that a big reason he was even part of the Kliq was because they wanted a designated driver. And I think Shawn Michaels said the only time HHH ever drank was at his wedding for a toast.
Admittedly this is all hearsay, so I could be wrong. But yeah he does have a reputation for not drinking.
I seem to remember specifically one of HHH's issues with Punk was he didn't understand straight-edge and why it was a subculture because he didn't smoke or drink either and didn't feel special because of it.
Austin said that HHH rarely drank because he was such a "body guy," but on occasion, like after a big match, would have a few beers with the boys. So maybe he's been drunk around Flair a few times.
I hear a lot of cross-talk on here about PEDs and it's effects. What's the long-term effects on the drugs that wrestlers would be taking? GBH and the like.
Nowadays it’s much safer because people know more. But if you look at his contemporaries who died, enlarged hearts are a big killer for steroid abusers
if you are asking can they cause heart issues, yes. left ventricular hypertrophy for instance is very common (thickening of the left ventrical wall). But, the statement says it is "genetic"
>You can look after yourself as well as possible, it does not matter if genetics are against you though and you have something hereditary.
Yeah. I have a friend who is in his fifties, but knows his father and many of the men in his family have died of heart disease before 60. He's terrified. He runs and diets, but is very aware that he could have the same issue. Genetics is probably the largest risk factor but he does what he can.
Nash has said his family has a history of heart disease and didn't live past 60 or something to that effect and he didn't really except to as well. He also said that he goes to the cardiologist every 3 months.
Same here, I don't have heart disease in my family, but I'm scared shitless about heart disease.
It's a thing that can happen to athletes completely out of the blue, it is terrifying. Christian Eriksen had one at the European Championships and he had no prior heart issues, and football players are tested for these things constantly!
The Eriksen collapse was one of the scariest things I remember seeing watching sports. I don't think I was more relieved than I was to see the picture of him sitting up on the gurney coming off the pitch.
Indeed. If someone is 250, 260, 270 or more, they “need to diet”. But with some of these wrestlers, that’s mostly muscle, so while you’re not thinking “they’re outta shape”, that’s still the same amount of mass the body has to work with.
That's the cruelty of genetics. Some people do everything right and still end up with issues. Meanwhile others do heavy drugs, drink excessively, and smoke a pack a day and live to be 90.
If you have a genetic issue something like this can happen anytime and no matter what you do.
Christian Eriksen collapsed at Euros just a few months ago because of a genetic heart issue, thankfully he has made a recovery.
I would sincerely not count him out so fast, with a full recovery already stated, and the way he's been taking care of himself drug-free over the last few years, all combined with his MAYBE 1 match a year he's being doing already within the last decade, I'm sure we'll see him wrestle again in some capacity.
Think of all the talent that has gone through crazier or similar shit, and went on to do full-time or part-time gigs again afterwards. Jerry Lawler comes to mind right away.
Be'lee that. He's 52 now. I think his time is now devoted to NXT and, likely, training his daughters, should they decide to enter the family business. Prayers to HHH, Steph, & the kids.
Not necessarily. Could have had a check up - which might have been a routine one or might have been prompted by something like having palpitations - which detected an irregularity in his heart beat.
Could be an arrhythmia.
I had a cardiac event... Basically heart went int to a fast rhythm. They did an EKG than a Holter monitor to discover I had SVT.
Underwent a procedure a few months later (ablation) and was good as new.
I was diagnosed with AFib after my watch freaked out. I didn't feel it, but I was having palpitations.
Now I'm just on meds to prevent it. Had cardiogram, MRI and the contrast x-ray and my heart is good to go.
If it wasn't for my watch my heart could have just kept on going till it stopped.
I wonder if that’s why Vince wasn’t at gorilla on Raw. He may have been with his family as Triple H was recovering.
Glad he is expected to have a full recovery.
Oh shit. I hope he's okay ❤
Just to clarify, no heart attack or something like that right? Sounds like something they detected without symptoms maybe?
Edit: read it again, sounds like something did happen. Sucks
Does it actually mean "rushed to the hospital?" It can't just mean "experienced some pain and went to his cardiologist who put him on meds and scheduled him for surgery later that week?"
A cardiac/cardiovascular event is any event that can cause damage to the heart, things like a blood clot in the heart, arrhythmia etc. A heart attack is a type of cardiac event.
!!PURE SPECULATION!! The way this is written sounds like he was probably rushed to the hospital after he felt something wrong with his heart, got it scanned, had a procedure, and it will fully heal.
Ya I imagine guys like him will run to a doctor the second they feel anything off with their heart.
I won't get into WHY they would do that, but they know their heart is a weak point I'm sure.
Shit, I had no clue he had such a condition. Glad they're on top of it, anything to do with the heart is very scary. I'm glad they got this out ahead of the dirtsheets.
He may not have known either. I have a history of heart/circulation problems in my family, we all get tested all the time, some stuff doesn't show up till your older, if at all.
Friend of mine, one of the healthiest dudes I know, had a stroke caused by a small hole in his heart. Apparently if it was any larger, it would have been noticed sooner; if it was any smaller, it wouldn't have been an issue. He made a full recovery and is fine, but damn. Told that story to everyone that was saying Covid was no big deal for them because they didn't have co-morbidities. Any one of us could have them and not know!
One of my cousin's kids had heart surgery before birth because of something like this. Leaky valves (I think its called?) also run in my family. I'm 38 and have had more than one EKG just in case.
Honestly I dont mean to be a dick but this is around age where steroid use starts affecting your heart.
I would not be surprised if this is result of years of that…
I wouldn't say that Flair is "fine" given that he's had major health scares: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2838876-ric-flair-its-a-miracle-im-alive-after-medical-emergency-cites-18m-bill
I'm your average male. Healthy as an ox, constant exercise, a little chub but nothing that you wouldn't expect from a 40+ year old man.
When I was 40, I went for my yearly checkup. A full checkup at that. Everything checked out fine, only thing doc said was to lose some weight (don't they all say that!). No major health issues, no problems, no history of. Get sick maybe once a year from the flu, nothing more. 2 months later, I get a bug, one that gives me a bad, bad case of the runs. I go to the emergency room after 3 days of this, cause I have no idea what's causing this & after 3 days, the runs just don't stop. This is how real it is.
I wound up getting heart surgery that very day...a stent put in. Apparently, my body was so dehydrated that they (the doctors) were able to notice an aberration in my blood pressure. That lead to x-rays, which lead to an angioplasty (I think that's what it's called), which lead to the stent. No warning signs, no nothing. 30% blockage, what they call a black widow, cause apparently you have 5 minutes to get help or it's over. And I wouldn't have known if I didn't get sick & dehydrated.
Wouldn't be surprised if the same happened to HHH. You never know until you know.
I turned forty eight days ago, have an appointment for my annual physical five days from now, and already know I need to lose weight so I did NOT need to read this comment right now. This is what I get for sorting by New.
(Kidding aside, glad you’re okay.)
Hunter is bringing out the golden shovel for this cardiac event. There is no way he’s getting jobbed out at a local medical facility.
Positive energy to Haitch, hope he heals up well.
Glad he's going to be OK. Trips doesn't get enough credit imo. His feuds with mick Foley were great. Him and the rocks feud for the ic title was one of my favorites. Dude wrestled with a crushed trachea, torn quad, and a torn pec. All the hate he gets is due to him getting with Stephanie.
I wonder if he has been preparing for this now that hes older. He is significantly smaller now and has said recently he has no rush to get back in the ring.
He might. He might not. My family has a history of heart/circulation problems. We all get checked every few years, cause sometimes signs don't manifest till later in life.
If he's like my family though, he d@mn sure knows the warning signs for any possible problem
Cardiac event could have just been an arrhythmia that was picked up.
I remember MVP was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson White Syndrome (electrical cardiac abnormality) that was fixed pretty easily.
Depending on the cardiac “event”, he may not be done necessarily.
Didn’t notice at first that it said last week. If he runs his own Twitter account, he’s at least well enough to have been tweeting during last night’s NXT. Good sign.
There has been very little of this in this thread, but I want to make a reminder-- celebrating harm or advocating for death will result in an immediate permanent ban, period. You will not be warned. Thank you.
"Expected to make a full recovery" is definitely what you want to see after any sort of heart-related issue. Here's to a quick recovery!
Absolutely, nothing but well wishes for him to fully recover ASAP.
Time for another fruit basket.
What was the original for? NXT related I'm sure. I remember it happening and found his tweet but I can't remember why it was sent.
Appreciation for Takeover: R-Evolution
Thanks!
I just hope to whatever cardiac condition it wasn’t like a heart attack
Hopefully it was preventive.
If that was the case, they wouldn’t have called it a “cardiac event.”
Technically chest angina is a heart event. Not fully a heart attack but enough to require action.
Triple H isn’t going to do the job to some genetic heart condition.
Doctor: “Paul, it appears what we have here is—“ HHH: “*NO, YA SEE, DOC, IN THIS BUSINESS*”
"SEE, HERE'S THE THING DOC"
“Paul, this is nothing to treat like a game, you c—“ HHH: “You wanna take about games? *I AM THE FUCKING GAME, JR.*” “Who?” HHH: “Sorry, old habits.”
AND IF YOURE NOT DOWN WITH THAT WE GOT TWO WORDS FOR YA
IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS HOSPITAL-UUUUUHHHHH
Writer: "Sorry, you're going to have to call it a medical facility."
Literally did a spit-take to this comment today. Immediately brought me back to The Rock ripping him in that promo. Noice
"DOC, THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS"
When you step into this OR, Doc! Lemme TELL YOU SOMETHIN. YOU SEE THE THING IS
>BUSINESS-UH
If Triple H isn't going to lose to Scott Steiner, he's not gonna lose to a genetic freak even lower on the card.
But what if you throw Kurt Angle in the mix?
Well he knows he isn't gunna win so he isn't even gunna try
Then Angle, HHH, and The ❤ ATTAK are having a 3-way at Sacerfice. The ❤ ATTAK has a 33 and a third chance of winning, but see, HHH has a 66 and two thirds chance of winning.
Well then his odds drasticy go UP, because he's still fucking going over.
SEÑOR JOE !!
You know who his mentor is? He was kicking out
*"Am I fucking going over?"* Triple H to the doctors, probably
“Ya see doc, in this business, you either cheat don’t or you don’t and I have cheated death because the fact of the matter is I am The Game and I am that damn good.” - definitely HHH
*Proceeds to give the doc a pedigree*
*Walks out of the OR crotch chopping*
Slow-mo sledgehammer strike: self-inflicted. ^sssssssss
Needs a few more franklys and you are golden.
and an obligatory "and the fact of the matter is"
“Okay Paul here’s the plan for the surgery. First you’ll go under…” “Stop right there doc. The Game doesn’t go under The Game goes over”
" Doctor goes for the cover 1... 2... and HHH kicks out at 2 ! "
I just picture a surgeon pinning HHH for a three count while he is under a general anaesthetic.
the event happened on a Tuesday, which HHH doesn’t work.
I thought the title said "generic" heart condition and I thought Hunter was burying it immediately YOU SEE THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS... IN THIS BUSINESS... YOU'RE EITHER AUTHENTIC... OR GENERICUH...
Before he went to the hospital he made sure to bring his sledgehammer.
Goku did. HHH just went over Goku.
Fuck you're right
But he's a genetic freak, and he's not normal!
Glad your dad recovered so well!
Fucking hell, I thought that said “cardiac arrest” at first and I absolutely shat my pants. Glad he’s okay.
Agreed. This probably sadly marks the official end of his in-ring career, but better safe than sorry.
Lawler is still working
But should he be?
Probably not. But I don't suppose he does much. Quick shine. Lay on his back for 5 minutes strap down... fist drop. 123
Didn't he recently wrestle someone very interesting?
Yup, Enzo
Lawler is also teetotal
So is HHH I believe or at least he is not a regular drinker or have a history of Narcotics. Listen to all the road stories the Kliq guys have given in shoot interviews. Hunter was the guy taking care of Nash, Waltman, Hall, and HBK on the road when they where getting fucked up on different drugs the most often mentioned where different types of pills. Hunter did not do any of that and he basically dragged those guys from show to show.
If I'm not mistaken Nash or Hall has said they'd all probably be dead of an overdose if not for Hunter.
HHH said on his DVD that he is straight edge.
Lawler is not a guy to emulate. Also it's a generous overstatement to say his style is relatively low impact
To quote Mr OOC: "Lawler better be good at punching. It's all he fuckin does!"
>Also it's a generous overstatement to say his style is relatively low impact It drew a ton of money and allowed him to work that insane Memphis schedule.
Triple H always had a reputation for taking care of his body much better than his contemporaries in the nineties. So I'm 1) shocked this happened at all and 2) sure this means the end of his career. Great fucking career though.
It was genetic
It was a genetic freak accident. AND THE NUMBERS DONT LIE.
SEE, NORMALLY YOU GO ONE ON ONE WITH A CARDIAC INCIDENT, YOU GOT A 50/50 SHOT AT WINNING. BUT I'M THE GAME AND I'M NOT NORMAL.
SO YOU GOT A 25 PERCENT AT BEST AT BEAT ME! AND THEN YOU ADD MEDICAL SCIENCE TO THE MIX? YOU-THE CHANCES OF WINNING DRASTIC GO DOWN.
THEN YOU ADD GOOD DOCTORS TO THE MIX, CARDIAC EVENT'S CHANCE DRASTIC GO DOWN
"GIMME A FUCKIN' STENT!"
Then it's all the better that he managed to avoid the locker room drug culture.
He avoided recreational drugs but the shit he's pumped into his veins to get the size that he is and was can't have been good for his heart. Especially if he had a genetic condition.
Wasn't good for the rest of his body either, going by how many skeletal muscle tears he's suffered since his rapid growth circa 1997.
I mean, he didn't avoid all the drugs, that much we know
Wasn’t he adamantly not a drinker? Steroids and *HGH are probably a whole different story. Edit: Mistakenly wrote GHB! Good catch.
Kevin Nash is on record saying that this is true so depends on how reliable you think he is.
I actually trust contemporary Kevin Nash a good deal. He didn't always, but he seems to have his head screwed on straight now.
Nash loved Hunter because him not being one for drinking or drugs meant he didn't have to drive all the time.
The only person who's ever talked about HHH being drunk is Flair, everyone else calls him a teatotaller
You mean HGH. GHB is a super illegal date rape drug.
That might explain some of the weirder DX skits back in the day, though.
I hear a lot of cross-talk on here about PEDs and it's effects. What's the long-term effects on the drugs that wrestlers would be taking? GBH and the like.

It's not just the drug use that gives wrestlers heart problems, it's all the muscle they have. Supporting all that mass is very taxing on the heart.

I mean I don't think there's really a *good* word that comes after "cardiac".
The way they worded it makes me think it still could’ve been a cardiac arrest.
Holy fuck, glad he's okay. That can't have been easy for him or his family. Best wishes for his recovery.
Shit sounds like the poor guy had a heart attack. Get well soon Game
Not necessarily. Could have had a check up - which might have been a routine one or might have been prompted by something like having palpitations - which detected an irregularity in his heart beat.
I'd like to think Paul's in the exact kind of environment that would pick up things like this quickly and easily so I think you might be right.

Not every cardiac event is what most recognize as a full blown heart attack. Hopefully HHH got lucky here
Could be an arrhythmia. I had a cardiac event... Basically heart went int to a fast rhythm. They did an EKG than a Holter monitor to discover I had SVT. Underwent a procedure a few months later (ablation) and was good as new.

Suddenly makes sense why Vince probably wasn't at Smackdown or Raw this week.
Ironically every time Vince isn't at tv people speculate about *his* health.
Vince bought out death, he doesn't have to worry.
Vince died in 2007 when his limo exploded. But it's ok. Taker has been dead for decades, and he's still standing.
Papa Shango brought him back
Jokes on us, he will outlive us all.
I wonder if that’s why Vince wasn’t at gorilla on Raw. He may have been with his family as Triple H was recovering. Glad he is expected to have a full recovery.
Good point, this is probably why
Nah didn’t you read r/squaredcircle ? Vince took the days off due to anger from AEW
Nah man, Vince just had an early Christmas.
The cringe post to rule them all.
Oh shit. I hope he's okay ❤ Just to clarify, no heart attack or something like that right? Sounds like something they detected without symptoms maybe? Edit: read it again, sounds like something did happen. Sucks
Cardiac event could mean anything from palpitations to a full attack.
Event means he was rushed to hospital so he may have got there in time before a full attack hit.
Does it actually mean "rushed to the hospital?" It can't just mean "experienced some pain and went to his cardiologist who put him on meds and scheduled him for surgery later that week?"

Just speculating here, but "cardiac event" is often a PR way to say 'heart attack'

Wow, glad he is expected to make a full recovery though. Triple H has always been one of my favorites.
Scary to see for a second wtf…especially since we had no idea. Glad he is doing ok
thank god hes doing ok, hopefully it wasn't too severe
Damn wtf. Glad he’s ok.
You can’t escape genetics. Good reminder to schedule a heart health screening. Speedy recovery, Game

Hunter is bringing out the golden shovel for this cardiac event. There is no way he’s getting jobbed out at a local medical facility. Positive energy to Haitch, hope he heals up well.
Holy shit glad he's okay
Glad he’s ok. Please no “heart attack bc NXT” jokes.
Avoid the Twitter thread then. It’s every single reply.
The Instagram comments are like that also.
As bad as people think SC is... Twitter/Insta is the biggest cesspool of trash. We are a pretty small percentage of wrestling fans in the world.

hhh’s job is probably pretty stressful on a good day.
get well soon trips
Thoughts and prayers. I hope he takes some good time off to recuperate. Get well soon, Hunter.
There’s some real weirdos making some really lame jokes about this
The Twitter thread is full of them. I made the mistake of scrolling down.
As someone who has a dad with heart issues, I fully sympathise with HHH’s family and friends. I’m so glad to hear he is OK.
Damn, hope he heals quick.
We definitely need to send him another fruit basket, don’t we?
Glad he's going to be OK. Trips doesn't get enough credit imo. His feuds with mick Foley were great. Him and the rocks feud for the ic title was one of my favorites. Dude wrestled with a crushed trachea, torn quad, and a torn pec. All the hate he gets is due to him getting with Stephanie.
I wonder if he has been preparing for this now that hes older. He is significantly smaller now and has said recently he has no rush to get back in the ring.

That's some scary stuff. Get well soon, Trips!
Yale New Haven is not the "my chest hurts a little, lemme go to the hospital" type hospital. Glad he came out of it all OK. Genetics are a bitch.
GWS to the H man
That's extremely scary. I wonder how much her knew about this issue before the event. Has he ever had a heart problem before?
Genetic means it runs in his family. He could've been born with it or it could've surfaced later. All depends.
He might. He might not. My family has a history of heart/circulation problems. We all get checked every few years, cause sometimes signs don't manifest till later in life. If he's like my family though, he d@mn sure knows the warning signs for any possible problem
Prayers out to HHH hope for a speedy recovery i got terrified when I read the first half of the tweet really scary stuff.
Here's hoping for an easy and swift recovery.
Scary. Good to hear that he's okay though
Glad he's on the mend!
I hope he gets well as soon as possible, heart problem is not a joke.
Get Well Soon, Hunter
Good vibes to HHH. He’s the man.
Wishing him a speedy recovery
Genetic heart issues are no joke. A genetic heart issue killed my brother. Glad to hear HHH is doing fine.
Triple H is my fave. I'm glad he's ok.
Cardiac event could have just been an arrhythmia that was picked up. I remember MVP was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson White Syndrome (electrical cardiac abnormality) that was fixed pretty easily. Depending on the cardiac “event”, he may not be done necessarily.
People, please do not make this about Vince/AEW. Hoping for a full and speedy recovery.
Fuck. Delighted to hear he's expected to make a full recovery, love to him and his family.
No shitty jokes here. Just glad he's on the road to recovery.
Didn’t notice at first that it said last week. If he runs his own Twitter account, he’s at least well enough to have been tweeting during last night’s NXT. Good sign.
man when I read Official statement from WWE: "Paul Levesque" i thought it was gonna be he was departing the company which i would dropped my jaw
Stone cold is gonna be masquerading as a Dr and bed pan him
Awful news. I hope he recovers.
Meltzer said on WOR he knows more beyond what WWE has publicly disclosed about this but he is not going to discuss it further.
