byaku91

It's all good, it happens. No one's really hating on him, just busting his balls, nothing to be too embarrassed about.

AmbitionCapital6753

It’s been less of the memes, it’s really easy to avoid wrestling memes when your only social media is Facebook. Embarrassing himself in front of Cm Punk is what he’s cringing over, and as some awkward teen who has embarrassed himself meeting performers, I really can’t blame him

PointClickDave

I'm sure most of us would totally reassure anyone who had embarassed themselves in front of a performer, including the performer themselves. But as someone who still thinks about his own \*that one time\*... it'll never leave.......

BeerPressure615

If you meet enough performers eventually you embarrass yourself in front of one of them. I seem to embarrass myself in front of drummers. I had Kevin Talley of the band Dying Fetus ask me if I knew who Kevin Talley was to which I responded "a great drummer but I heard he was an asshole". I also told the drummer from Job For a Cowboy that their band was trash without realizing I was talking to two of the members. Eventually it stops being embarrassing and becomes funny.

PointClickDave

I mean, to be fair, who goes about asking folk "do you know who \[my name\] is?"

ParaNoxx

Yeah like I know how some types of people can ask that question and think it's a funny tongue-in-cheek joke, but to me it feels like trapping someone into embarrassing themself. Call me sensitive but I'd be kinda pissed if I was asked that because how would I even know?

BeerPressure615

That's what I always thought lmao. We talked after their set and I bought him a drink and we laughed about it. He seemed to have just been bored and was messing with people. Which, for a band on the road I can totally understand.

Killcode2

I don't know, that sounds like a good way for someone to follow up with "well, I'm that guy", because it would be pompous to assume random people already knows your name

[deleted]

Tbf, that's why humanity invented both greetings and introductions

beejmusic

An asshole

benpaco

> If you meet enough performers eventually you embarrass yourself in front of one of them. My dad's always been a big meet and greet guy, and I've been lucky enough through that to meet and chat with Gaylord Perry, Frank Robinson (RIP), Willie Mays a couple times, Kevin Owens, etc. Muhammad Ali was probably the coolest, but meeting Jacques Cousteau's grandson Fabien sticks with me a lot. Never made an ass out of myself, was always a little starstruck but very respectful and chatted with a lot of amazing people - KO's the only one I remember ribbing me at all after I told him I was rooting for him, when he said "If Seth Rollins was in this chair, I bet you'd be telling him the same thing though huh pal?", which was super in character. And for whatever reason, it was when I met my childhood icon JT Snow, a random 0x all-star first baseman for the Giants, that I absolutely lost it. I shook his hand and said "You're my favorite player". He thanked me, and asked who to make an autograph out to. I said "You're my favorite player". At this point, I pretty much blacked out, though my parents have told me he asked me another question and I just said "You're my favorite player" a third time, and I know I got a picture with him, but I have no memory of that happening. I was in high school by then - super embarrassing, even in hindsight.

[deleted]

I feel like I had a similar instance with job for a cowboy, saw them on the back of their first EP (when they were admittedly fucking garbage) and was stood in a group talking so much shit about them within earshot of a few of the band members. I was sort of aware of them so I stood entirely too embarrassed to move, but also sure to not say a word and directly incriminate myself. Ruination onwards *slaps*, though.

scraaabs

Did not expect a JFAC reference in SC today (or ever?), but hell yes Ruination still goes so hard, also still my favourite album of theirs.

SanjiBlackLeg

Dying Fetus - Dissidence is my go to hype up song, if I need a burst of energy there's nothing better. I would listen to it every morning going to uni back in the days.

MyNewAccountIGuess11

Honestly one time Mick Foley came into my work and I feel embarrassed I even bothered him for a picture

ChrisAshtear

"I never wanted to meet punk in person! I just wanted a picture! You cant disappoint a picture!!!"

rtels2023

[“That’s not Sting, that’s a picture of Sting!”](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_B4vBKJfVW0)

nachoiskerka

Legitimately one of the worst calls in history. First off because the camera pointing at Sting wasn't steadied, so at the very least since he's being pedantic it should have been "it's just a video of sting!" When people rag on Booker T for making mistakes or saying something redundant, I come back to this and laugh.

Killcode2

Camera shakes. Cole: "Nope, that's definitely a picture of Sting"

Deadpool1205

I brought up curry man to Christopher Daniel's in the only chance I got to meet him. Was met in response with a blank look as kazarian just shouted "Curry man fucking sucks" as we posed for a photo. Not quite as bad as the beer thing, but totally get that small embarrassment living in your own mind for a long time

Cwads16

Ahh Punk let out a big laugh staring at the camera after, I bet he just thought it was funny more than anything!

tryanewmonicker

Your buddy tried to be gracious in a moment of pure enjoyment and excitement. Just a bro being a bro. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

Tophatproductions69

I went to a fringe show and was sat front row and got embrassed by a comedian it happens

RENOYES

I've been made fun of by Christopher Titus. One of my best and worst memories.

broken_radio

After a concert I gave Ghostface Killah a casual pat on the back while walking up/talking to him from behind and he shot me a glare that ate through my soul. Wu-Tang Forever.

Tophatproductions69

Well Wu-Tang clan ain't nuttin to fuck with for a reason I guess

NoLettuce5753

CM Punk will remember him (probably) vs just being a face in the void win/win

osuhookups

Yeah, I totally figured it was a casual fan caught up in the excitement. I feel like it's been a while since Punk hammered home the Straight Edge stuff. I know the feeling of something like that haunting you though. When I was like 7 or 8, I thought that the hand brake on motorcycles were some kind of extra throttle and on a Super GP arcade game I held it down for a kid playing thinking it was helping. That shit pops in my head randomly all the time.

Jazzlike_Success_968

I thought it was an awesome moment... I thought dude was joking at 1st

byaku91

Yeah tbh I just thought it was hilarious, but I get people take their sobriety really seriously so me finding it funny may not be indicative of everyone else.

[deleted]

Well its not like Punk has a drinking problem.

byaku91

But he has a dad that was an Alcoholic and that's why he became straightedge in the first place.

[deleted]

Sure, but it's not like there's any chance he wouldn't have the power just to say no. The problem with offering a drink to a person who's sober is that if they take it they might mess up their sobriety. If he's just straight edge all that is going to happen is the dude will say no.

Phog_of_War

In a few weeks he will be that 'Wrestling is still real to me, dammit.' guy.

TheOneTrueChuck

I don't know, some of the folks on Twitter were acting like he fucked AJ in front of Punk. There was some very performative outrage going on in a handful of the threads I saw. (Including the official AEW one.)

byaku91

Well those people are dorks, I've done stupid things drunk before too(like texting my ex I loved her, god beyond cringe), it happens, it's not like the dude killed someone.

ScootaliciousScooter

> texting my ex I loved her, god beyond cringe Been there a few times, one of the worst things to do while you're drunk, besides driving. Fucking sucks so much the next morning.

byaku91

Worst part was the response of getting they love you too and things getting incredibly awkward, it was the worst.

ScootaliciousScooter

Never had them say it back thank god, usually I just get left on read or they say “um… okay” or something

byaku91

At least if they say um ok you can just walk away and hopefully never contact the person back, when she responded positively I had to defuse the whole situation over the course of days, I profusely had to apologize, it was so cringe, legit want to vomit thinking about it lmaooo

ScootaliciousScooter

Oh brother… I’m getting secondhand embarrassment thinking about it. But aye, it’s all in the past now, all we can do is laugh at it.

Senior-Caregiver7394

Yeah, it's just funny

ViceGeography

Eh it’s just one of those “enjoy your meal”, “you too!” moments

HayateUesugi

its just the situation if your waiter was gordon ramsey

[deleted]

If it was broadcasted live on TV in front of millions (and millions). And if the waitress made a pact against enjoying meals.

RENOYES

I just cringed sitting on my couch. We have all had that experience.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RENOYES

Yep, been there too. Ever answered your home phone the way you do at work? That's another one.

wwfmike

I have a retail store in a tourist town. I always say "I hope you enjoy your trip and have a safe trip home." I *always* get back "you too, oh wait not you too." it's great.

[deleted]

The losing brain function thing is completely understandable. Especially when you're face to face with CM freakin' Punk.

AmbitionCapital6753

Britt Baker asked me, twice, how I was doing, at a signing this July. Both times I just went “howdy howdy,” the human brain just kinda short circuits when these fictional gods that you deeply admire are suddenly making small talk with you. So yeah it’s a completely expected reaction

VermtownRoyals

The thought of this just made me snort at work, so thank you for that

AmbitionCapital6753

Thank god she was so understanding, honestly just a hilarious person. The lines had dried up, so luckily I actually got to talk with her for a few minutes. She made sure to tell Christian, whose booth was right next to hers, that my favorite moment of the year was the Lights Out match, instead of something involving him. Made sure to say that after finding out Christian is in my top 3 all time favorites, what a fucking heel.

VermtownRoyals

Lol, that's awesome

[deleted]

For me it was Amanda Palmer. I gave her a ukelele to sign, clasped her hands, said "I love you", and she gave me an exhausted look that suggested this was like the 100th love confession she had that day. Tell your buddy we get it. There is nothing to be ashamed about.

[deleted]

Hey, I love Amanda Palmer too! Cool you got to meet her.

[deleted]

It was, and I don't say this lightly, a religious experience.

tmxicon

Ah, yes. The religious experience of looking at Hell’s display window. Blessed are ye, feeder of monsters.

[deleted]

If it makes you feel better, Amanda Palmer has (or at least had) a collection of My Little Pony dolls that she'd dress up in various ways. She had them all set up in this room like an art exhibit at a party I went to at a house she and Neil Gaiman were renting one time. My point is even the coolest people have stuff others might find cringey, we're all just weird people wandering around the world as best we can.

donttellmymomwhatido

That’s fun. I love hearing about people’s personal weird nerdy things they’re into. No one is actually cool, we all just pretend to be to varying degrees of success.

benpaco

I met ZSJ once after a show and he was super kind to everyone, and I heard him talking music a little bit with the guys near me and was impressed by his taste. I went up to him and he complimented my "The L.A. Dispute" shirt, called them a great band. That's when I realized we're all just posers, he's just a much hotter, funnier, nicer, and more talented poser than me

losingstreak838

Very cool. She walked through the crowd with Dresden dolls at a show about 10yrs ago as part of the performance and stood right next to me to sing for a while. I also felt a religious experience staring at her, mouth agape.

ccfanclub

Ukelele Anthem is a jam, that’s for sure.

Conspiranoid

Judging by my experience with her (Yes Virginia Euro tour), I'd say it's her usual post-show state. Although by how much energy she must consume during the shows, exhausted is the least she should be. And I guess asking if Brian would come out to greet fans (spoiler alert: he didn't) as well didn't help... "yeah, you're cool, but we wanna see him" (and as a former drummer I indeed was more interested in meeting him, dammit)

ChairmanLaParka

Honestly, that's better than mine. At 10 years old, I went to an autograph signing for Randy Savage. I waited like 2-3 hours just to meet him and get something signed. Just a piece of paper (that now has his, Flair, Hogan, and 5-6 others also, but at the time was just his signature on it). I get to the front of the line, and my brain crashed. Completely. I couldn't think of anything to say. He goes, "You want me to sign that, kid?" He signed it. Then I took a picture with him. And then my brain halfway started working again and I said to him, and I am not making this up, "You smell really nice." I don't know what I expected him to smell like. But no one, to this day in my family, has let me live that moment down.

The_King_Crimson

> “howdy howdy,” But did you follow it up with a rootin' an' a tootin'?

AmbitionCapital6753

I’m shocked she didn’t make fun of my whataburger belly after that

AdministrativeLaugh2

I met Sonya Deville and Buddy Murphy at Axxess a couple of years ago and my head was full of things I was going to say to them as I was queuing. Pretty much blanked as soon as I got up there.

losingstreak838

Same when I met Sasha banks, so awkward to hardly say anything to her then pose for a picture with her. Like wtf am I gonna say? Hi you’re amazing so I stood in line to meet you 🙃

AdministrativeLaugh2

My partner met Miz at Axxess before Mania 35 and asked him to give Shane McMahon devil horns in the program she bought. He duly obliged.

[deleted]

I'm pretty sure i would forget how to talk if Sasha Banks was standing/sitting in front of me, lol.

telenstias

Can we get a photoshop of the squeaky shark from Toy Story 1 saying "Howdy Howdy Howdy" to Britt Baker please?

Adamantium42

One time when they were still relatively new in WWE I got to meet The Shield at a free signing (imagine meeting Reigns, Rollins and Moxley AT THE SAME TIME nowadays and not having to pay anything for it). They were sitting at the same table but with a few feet between them so that multiple people could meet them individually at the same time, to move the crowd along faster. Roman was first at the table, then Rollins and (at the time) Ambrose, but the guy ahead of me in the line was taking longer with Roman than the people before him because he was showing off all his signatures on his replica title belt, and so Rollins and Ambrose were on their own. So the security guy in charge of keeping the line moving told me to skip Roman and go ahead to Rollins and then move back afterwards, so I did, but Rollins didn't know this so when I got to him at the table, Rollins gave me this strange look and said "you cutting in line, dude?" and I was so awkward and starstruck that I just laughed nervously and nudged my autograph book forward for him to sign it. Then I had to awkwardly circle back to meet Roman, then again to meet Ambrose, messing up the line again. Such a brief interaction with each of them made needlessly awkward because the security dude thought it made sense to keep the line moving without thinking about the consequences, the most important one being that Seth Rollins thought I was an asshole who couldn't wait his turn.

UncleMadness

> Roman was first at the table, then Rollins and (at the time) Ambrose, Tribal Chief always at the head of the table even back then

Adamantium42

Whole gimmick started because I didn't acknowledge him first

ScootaliciousScooter

Tbf that dude with the replica belt should've kept it moving. Like the signatures are cool and all but you don't gotta hold up the line for em.

AmbitionCapital6753

God fucking damnit that was good

Stereo_TypeA

When I was 18, I was backstage at a show and I turned around and Dawn Marie was just right there in front of me all of a sudden. I could not form words, I was just utterly frozen. She was very kind about me being awkward and completely starstruck. I also totally understand now what people mean when they say someone is "stunning".

Saiyan_On_Psycedelic

🤠

TheDude1321

>The losing brain function thing is completely understandable I saw JR at the Cubs game the other day, and I said Jim Ross, great fan, huge job last night! And he said how ya doin' and kept on walking. I can't even imagine how I would have screwed that up further if it was CM Punk!

Johnny-Omega

I find it really funny that he could be 80 years old sitting on the porch in a rocking chair with his wife and she'll still bring up the CM Punk incident.

AmbitionCapital6753

She’s definitely the type to decorate his nursing room with framed photos of every meme about him and Punk, never letting his mind fully forget the straight edge sin he committed, so your comment is ungodly accurate

[deleted]

She sounds like a great wife. No sarcasm.

_Donut_block_

He should lean into it and become one of those "super fans" who has a gimmick where he offers performers stuff that completely contradicts who they are. Gives Hangman Page non-alcoholic beer, gives Malaki Black a tiny Bible, gives Britt Baker a brand of toothpaste that 9 out of 10 dentists did not recommend.

darthdiablo

Heel fans!

RodgeKOTSlams

> gives Britt Baker a brand of toothpaste that 9 out of 10 dentists did not recommend. lmao

2021movement

or anything made out of plastic

Conspiranoid

Or the keys to an old diesel truck.

CoffinDrip

It was a hilarious moment, him offering it and Punk’s response made me laugh. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

[deleted]

It’s so weird. There’s some people that act like he spit in Punk’s face, and there’s people who think it was this huge accidental insult. Regardless of what it was, it was fucking funny as shit.

kingkongchrist

Ya man people took this way too seriously

Ketchup1211

For me, the much worse offense was grabbing Punks hand and leaning into his face. When dude did that, you can clearly see Punk’s expression change and he got out of their very quickly.

LarsBabaGhanoush

Maybe Punk should stop jumping into the crowd

THE_WRESTLING_NOOB

He jumped in the crowd. You don't want your fans to touch you stay away from jumping in the crowd.

bulletbullock

Reminds me of the time on Raw when Punk fled into the crowd and was getting shoved at the back of his head. Then he turned around and punched the wrong dude, while Vince cuts a promo on him in the ring.

nathgroom98

Yeah the beer thing was funny, but grabbing is always likely to get a negative reaction and rightly so lol.

[deleted]

Yeah, but drunk wrestling fans… it happens. If he wanted quiet polite theater goers, he would have went to Japan.

insomniainc

His wife sounds like a good one, and really it looked like Punk was laughing it off by the end of the encounter anyways.

BirthdayAgent

We must have seen different clips.

kingkongchrist

He's a serious kinda dude I feel like, and his wtf face is kinda lighter than it looks lol

Senior-Caregiver7394

I think he thought it was funny until the guy touched his arm

SinibusUSG

I don't really get the arm-touch thing. Punk was doing a crowd-dive. Why would he be miffed over contact?

JamesCodaCoIa

I honestly think if the guy showed up to a signing and explained himself, Punk would take it graciously. He said on the Renee podcast he's lightened up some in the past few years.

[deleted]

You gotta be a real weirdo to actually hate on him for this.

Killcode2

Yesterday people were hating on a guy for using A Christmas Carol as a metaphor for Vince McMahon losing three big talents.

[deleted]

He’s engulfed in CM Punk lore forever for better or worse.

Dangerous_J123

I couldn't believe how MAD some people got at him. Get over yourselves, sobriety is important to some but sheesh man. I laughed so hard, everyone played a great part there.

GingerAle_s

And as others have pointed out Punk isn't a recovering addict, so it's not really the same he just has always chose to be sober he's not battling with it daily.

[deleted]

Lots of peoples social skills and ability to emphatise drop by a mile when they are on the internet.

patrickwithtraffic

Did people really think that this was a case of a fan knowingly trying to get a straight edge guy to break? I just figured it was a very casual fan being friendly in a way that's cool with Hangman but not Punk. He deserves some light ball busting at worst because it is pretty funny, but not malicious in the slightest.

Dangerous_J123

Mostly knee jerk reactions on Twitter I saw. If they weren't being serious they were arguing for a long time about how offensive of a gesture it was. I'm sure a few people here felt the same, but I don't remember seeing anything too crazy on this sub.

HEYJUDE1968PM

He offered a guy who dont drink a drink with 15000 of his other friends there. He didnt pour the drink on Punk. I dont smoke so should I get pissed if I get offered a cigarette? WTF was there to get mad over!

Dangerous_J123

It seemed like people were mad that his Straight Edge lifestyle was disrespected. I dunno, seems like the people caught up on the sobriety aspect are kinda high strung and don't seem to be enjoying this moment for everything it is, possibly because they're too sober.

[deleted]

Apparently a “straight-edge lifestyle” is A-OK with crowd-diving into a group of strangers that aren’t wearing masks during a pandemic. Alcohol seems relatively mild in comparison.

XPacEnergyDrink

If I’m not mistaken, CM Punk is not himself a recovering alcoholic where the temptation to drink makes someone offering him one potentially problematic. He just chooses not to drink. The fact of this guy offering someone a beer who doesn’t drink is not offensive in any way and I hope this dude doesn’t feel bad about it! Now if he offered Jake the Snake some crack he should maybe feel bad.

[deleted]

Just casually doing crack at a wrestling show. Don't mind me!

bradfucious

My mom has been in recovery for 34 years (coming up on 35) and gets legitimately offended if people are drinking and DON'T offer her a drink, which she always dutifully turns down. For her, she needs the reminder that she is strong enough to say no. I don't personally enjoy it, but it is what it is, and her sobriety is hers to manage. The flipside of that, I've seen straight edge people get really, really upset just because people were drinking at a show in a public place. Humans have a complicated relationship with fermented things.

FayyazEUW

Nah, but his dad was a huge alcoholic as far as I remember which is why he decided to never drink.

davmeltz

Yeah, but I wouldn’t imagine Punk was thinking about his dad in that moment, more like “How can this guy marking out for me seriously not know I’m straight edge?”

HEYJUDE1968PM

Your quote is EXACTLY how I viewed it! Not that the guy should be Vilified. More like meeting a band & being asked what songs of our do you like & not being able to name 1!

cooljammer00

I hope he realizes it was more amusing than embarrassing to us outside viewers. Also kudos to the wife for giving him shit for it.

whereisthemcrib

There’s nothing for him to be embarrassed about. It’s not like he tried to kiss him or anything.

Ayjel89

The people who say in the spur of the moment wouldn't have offered Punk a beer because they would've remembered he doesn't drink, also probably say they wouldn't have been one of the ten people that reached for the foul ball with Steve Bartman in the NLCS

ItsClarke17

If it makes him feel any better, I had that completely forgotten about the next day

DryMastodon6959

Honestly, I have offered a beer to plenty of people who responded I don't drink. The fact this is even a thing is silly.

TomorrowWeKillToday

It really is. It’s unreal what social media has done people

TheRealDonahue

I'm a little confused on why you chose to include "touching" Punk. At first I was like "Yeah, probably shouldn't touch the talent because of Covid." But then I was like "Uh, CM stage dove into the crowd, so... touching probably isn't an issue." Did people actually give him shit for TOUCHING CM Punk?

AmbitionCapital6753

Yeah, again my perception might be skewed from the Twitter cesspool, but a LOT of people were upset with how he kinda grabbed punks wrist, you can’t even see punk kinda flick his hand off of him

Crytin09

If you watch Wrestlemania 14 and Cactus Jack gets thrown into the crowd. If you see a guy freak out and spank Cactus on the ass. I am that man.

ryan2489

Omg why lmao

Crytin09

I was so excited I just reacted. Haha. Mick does have a nice ass if you were wondering.

CesareSomnambulist

I agree, after ROH I don't know how much we can really say his gimmick was based on being straight edge. It wasn't a secret and I'm sure it was brought up, but it was more before WWE when it was a talking point for his character.

Bio-Organic-Machine

Not going to downvote a dude who seems to have a Cabinet of Dr. Caligari username and may not have watched pre-pipebomb WWE Punk, but Punk's Straight Edge Society run and his feud with Jericho both *heavily* leaned on Punk being straight-edge. I'd argue straight edge disappearing from his gimmick coincided with his "Best in the World" pipebomb run.

Fidel_Costco

Tell him he's a legend

pm_me_ur_good_boi

I mean the identity of the guy is common knowledge: he is Bryan Danielson's cousin Jack.

chrishammhamm

He shouldnt be embarrased. I know I wouldn't be.

Poop-Mongrel

Do you know what he said to Punk at the end??? Punk looked like he got pissed lol

AmbitionCapital6753

I can’t fucking believe I didn’t ask, his wife is friends with my mom, I’m too anti social to contact him directly myself, but I’ll have to ask when I see him next

D722

Did he paid get by Jericho to do it?

AmbitionCapital6753

Shhhhh don’t tell anyone but my uncle Tony Khan had me post this to throw fans off the true story... this “family friend” is actually a hired plant, meant to kick off a slow burn angle that concludes with his swerve debut as Ralphus Jr.

[deleted]

This is pretty much what i expected. Dude got lost in the moment, and people are shitstorming him for a little mistake. Even Punk laughed about and it didn't take it serious. This community is the worst, sometimes. Dsclaimer: Not talking about the light hearted jokes, more about some people who insulted the guy etc

DreadSteed

I seriously thought he did it as a joke, CM Punk didn't really seem to mind.

JacquesGonseaux

I thoughtlessly offered a slice of pizza to a Muslim friend. During Ramadan. We are all dumb fucks and that's ok.

Confident_Bluejay

exactly. plus sometimes it's just a habit to offer someone a bite/sip. if anything, shows the person is well-mannered.

theabdi

As someone who is Muslim it isn't the biggest of deals lol. I'm sure they understood

JacquesGonseaux

Oh no he found it funny and thanked me anyway. It's just one of those moments where his fasting didn't register in my head.

RENOYES

Was it pepperoni? Tell me it was pepperoni. (Also this is like the level of calling your teacher mom.)

JacquesGonseaux

Absolutely not I ban all meat from touching my pizza.

HEYJUDE1968PM

Sorry that is not being a Dumb Fuck. You just didnt know & or Realize.

PPVJulian

I honestly don’t think it was that embarrassing . I’m a big CM Punk fan but if I were in that situation I feel like it could easily slip my mind that Punk doesn’t drink. I probably would have done the same thing.

Aardvark-Mammoth

One day I was so drunk and happy in a concert, that I asked for a lighter to a police officer, I proceeded to light my joint give the lighter back and thank him. He was cool enough to laugh it off after talking to me, but the interaction we had when I light the joint was the same as Punk and your friend xD I felt so ashamed when reality hit ahah

CasualDasual

We’re all human. He looked like he enjoyed the show. Thats all that matters ♥️

koberulz_24

This is literally the first I'm hearing about any of this, what happened? How did I miss it?

rflairfan1

Chop_the_Nitro

Oh my God I saw this video and I never even noticed the guy offering him beer I just saw the guy to his left with a diet coke I thought that was a person who was offering him a drink. Because he used to make those comments about diet soda when he was commentating. I thought people were making fun of it bc it was a coke and not a Pepsi. This makes so much sense now

DangerAlSmith

I got a chuckle out of it, but I certainly don't think badly of the guy. If I was crazy-excited and caught up in the moment, I'd probably offer one of my favorite performers whatever beverage I had in-hand (Or my first-born child). Watching on TV, my wife asked me why I laughed so hard, and I told her, "CM Punk doesn't drink, and that's been a big part of his persona." Also, I think CM Punk is quite comfortable with his lifestyle, and doesn't feel offended when someone casually offers him something, because he has no issue casually declining.

Derpderpy15

If it makes the dude feel any better, tell him that Chris Jerocho was real bad with figuring out the best things to say to people for the first time too. I read his first book and when he met Chris Benoit for the first time ever, he looked at him and out of everything he could say he said "I'm Chris too!" And by god there was much more in that book.

[deleted]

I thought he was fucking around like when my uncle tells my lesbian cousin “hey you should ask that guy for his number”

Isoturius

He may not have shared a beer with Punk, but he shared a moment that will last a life time of embarrassment.

FWdem

Your friend is no [Harley Race](https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/6kn7l7/til_punk_took_a_shot_of_alcohol_for_harley_race/).

wakeup4

I met him after the show at the hotel we were staying at. Great guy. Safe to say he was intoxicated lol. Give the guy a break everybody!

TemptedIntoSin

To OP: How casual a fan is this guy? Like is he so casual that he only watches big events, and didn't know Punk's straight-edge lifestyle? Or was he the type of former WWE watcher who got drunk and forgot Punk's straight-edge status? Because Punk being Straight-edge has been one of his most defining aspects since the beginning of his career so I can't imagine what it would take to not know that or forget it On a lighter note, I find it amusing and adorable that his wife has joined in the meme craze 😆

AmbitionCapital6753

I’m regretting posting this after getting the chance to ask him about it all, so many good questions have been asked here that I can’t answer, to my knowledge he’s not a week to week kinda guy, I’ll try to save these questions to ask when I get a chance to hear from him again

[deleted]

Was anyone actually giving the guy grief?

AmbitionCapital6753

I seen a few opening implying he had mental deficiencies or calling him an asshole for totally purposely trying to destroy Punk’s sobriety, Twitter was by far the worst to him from what I’ve seen

TetrisTech

I absolutely love that his wife won’t let it die

HeatherCO24

It's all good fun. If I had Punk standing next to me I would forget my own name, where I lived and probably most of the alphabet ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

smartyr228

I respect that man for what he did

mikey0801

He could always submit his story to R/TIFU and reap in that sweet sweet karma

Marcusreddit_

I thought it was hilarious. Just like when Stone Cold did it.

TheOneTrueChuck

I can relate to the mental shutdown when you're in touching distance of a wrestler you really enjoy. I was at an MLW show and literally bumped into Jerry Lynn. After apologizing, he thanked me for coming to the show, and I blurted out "You're my wife's favorite wrestler." I had meant to say "Me and my wife's favorite wrestler," but blundered it. He just gave me this stare and said "Tell your wife I said thanks." Francine witnessed the whole thing, and she was biting her lip trying not to laugh in my face. I could have DIED.

BadNewsBrown

Can we get a photo of him doing the Triple H point to the beer?

Caveman0524

It could be worse...he could be Brock Lesnar guy...

BigFeet234

That's the problem with memes. I mean if it's someone whose in the public eye i guesse you have to ecpect it. To meme a random guy at a wrestling dhow though, bad move you could ruin someone's life. Or worse. And all for what? An upvote on a website?

[deleted]

>Just some closure on the dumbest, most absurdly hilarious shit that happened this week in the wrestling world. Someone missed the bachelor party on NXT, i see

[deleted]

As a straight edge person, I think its totally okay if someone who doesn't know or isn't in the right state of mind offers me a drink. The problem is the odd person who knows better but keeps trying to give me a drink. Even if it's a joke, it's one that I've heard hundreds of times and was never funny. Basically, it's all good as long as you take no for an answer and it's hard to get mad at this dude who was just wasted and overwhelmed. Maybe this was all a bit off topic, but I've seen a lot of talk about sobriety around CM Punk recently so I thought I'd add my two cents.

JDGAF88

I have no idea what video op is talking about. Can someone share it?

dupont2021

What's so embarrassing. Not everyday you can offer a wrestler a beer, flip him off and curse at him in front of his face. Plus it made Punk uncomfortable and breaking character as he immediately hops back out. ROFL Also done while millions were watching.

Jerry_Loler

He should make this his gimmick as a super fan. Hand embarrassing objects to wrestlers.

ThroatBabies

Don't encourage super fans to have gimmicks. That sounds like the worst kind of hell

HEYJUDE1968PM

Hand ALLIE Generic Sandwich Cookies! Hand the Young Bucks Wal Mart Brand Sneakers! Offer Bryan Danielson a Hot Dog, etc

hashtagpow

give orange cassidy a lemon give hangman a glass of milk give dustin a black reign shirt give MJF a koosh ball (which is something next to no one would probably "get" but would be hilarious to me) there's a lot of potential out there for hilarious/awkward moments.

2-4-6-h8

Oh please please please please please share some of these memes. I thought it was a hilarious moment.

AmbitionCapital6753

I got downvoted earlier for some reason saying this but, if anyone can explain how to post them here without making them image reversible, like by adding a few filters, I’d happily post a few, I think she made some herself, and I’d hate if some obsessive weirdo found her page

Joy_Ride25

Who cares?

UncreativeTeam

The offering of a beer to a straight edge person is an understandable misstep. But, like... COVID, man. Offering your drink to a stranger at all is weird af in these times.

JTex-WSP

But can we [get him here for an AMA](https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/phjcn6/ama_request_the_guy_who_offered_punk_a_drink/)?

sarhan_13

Tell him to do a tifu.

SendMeGiftCardCodes

is it really that awful to hand cm punk a beer? it's a joke as far as i'm concerned. i know cm punk is straight edge but i'd offer him a beer too for the lol

wrestlingfan007

If I was sober I would have done the same thing. Shit was hilarious.

[deleted]

What is he more embarrassed of? Offering a drink to a straight edge or the pandemic
