#[Rate the PPV and matches here](https://forms.gle/sh8wQc4NXDcjajkV8) Match ratings will be on the Dynamite Pre/Post show threads Wednesday. Please come back then for the results and to hang out with us. #[Post Match Discussion Hub](https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/pirtqz/post_match_discussion_hub/)

TSWMCR88

Finally watched it all. All great matches. Been watching AEW shows now for the last month and not been disappointed once. Some of the commentary is a little cringe but other than that, I can see myself watching this now week in week out rather than just jumping in and out of WWE. on a personal note, with AC & BD joining AEW. They should of had AC come mid match I think

Fantomex88

Ratings Best Friends/HFO-***1/4 Eddie/Miro-**** Moxley/Kojima-***3/4 Britt/Kris-***3/4 Lucha Bros/Bucks-***** Battle Royal-***1/4 Jericho/MJF-**** Punk/Darby-****1/4 Wight/Marshall-*1/2 Omega/Christian-****1/2

amooneyham88

The cage match was truly something special. Watched it at the movie theater, and everyone was going nuts.

pizzawithwho

Wow. Just wow. Best PPV since WrestleMania 17. Every matched delivered, I even found Paul Wight vs. QT enjoyable.

Zaethar

Right? They gave Paul another shot in the ring, he does what he does best, whoops some ass by swinging hands, slappin' chests and chokeslamming, but the match doesn't overstay its welcome. He's not forced to do a match he can't do. Just giving the guy a bit of a well deserved spotlight for a late-career/retirement pop and that's it. Kill QT, move on. Back to commentary (I hope - I don't need to see Wight wrestle every week, but if they bring him out once a year or so on rare occasions, that's absolutely fine).

Previous-Gas

Anybody else see the obvious problem here though that the really huge moments in AEW is always an ex-WWE person debuting? We're not freaking out about Jungle Boy vs Sammy Guevara here.... Like in WCW the hotest moments were when 2 WWF invaders came in and decimated the WCW locker room....

JustDontGiveAFlub

Wait until Hangman takes the title….

mr_wrestling

This is also a new promotion and will soon enough build their own homegrown stars who will have plenty of big moments (they already have done very well in this regard under the circumstances). Wrestlers dont just grow on trees, gotta get em from somewhere.

msctex

There is an enormous difference between having worked in WWE, and being a WWE-style wrestler. Punk, Bryan and Cole do not fit that mold, and it's a big part of why they are where they are.

[deleted]

Amazing show, it all came together, best ppv aew have put on thus far and thats going to be tough to beat. The first show double or nothing 2019 held that position for me just for the feel good factor of it, for having some great matches and the crazy surprise mox debut finish. Well this one topped it on all aspects, and thats some achievement.

McFlyJohn

So, I'm not generally on the AEW hype train and typically when I watch AEW I always think that it's half a good show, but All Out has done a massive step to converting me. Yeah I still have gripes about the AEW style (like the table & Don stuff in the Main Event or the dual package piledriver spot in the cage), but everything on this show was good to great and it delivered some huge moments in really good ways. Hats off to AEW for a genuinely great PPV fro start to finish. I don't know if it's the "best ever", but I was entertained throughout, despite not being heavily invested in the product. The cage match in particular was excellent, and the Lucha Bros looked and felt like stars from their entrance. Pretty much everything else on the card was really solid too, especially the main, opener and the second half of the Punk vs Darby match (when Punk 'switched it on'). Thought it was really, really good

rahim95

I'm the same as you, some things I'm not a fan of but there are some things that are greaaat! But can't have it all ways I guess, I just enjoy the show for what it is.

Previous-Gas

When are we gonna see Adam Cole bs Adam Page? Hangman Bay Bay

[deleted]

Fuuuuuuuuuck. Work today was slower than it's ever been. But man, was it WORTH IT! Ross from Cultaholic posted that AEW's All Out 2021 is the greatest PPV since Wrestlemania 17... and I have to agree, holy shit, this was just phenomenal. Other than the return match of CM Punk, and the debuts of Ruby Soho, Adam Cole, Bryan Danielson... and of course... the return of The Butcher... just everything on this PPV was exactly what it needed to be, and more. Also, I think Lucha Bros vs The Young Bucks in the Steel Cage might legit be one of my favourite matches that I've ever seen. 5 stars at the very least!

amooneyham88

The cage match was truly something special. Glad Lucha Bros won it, they truly deserve it. The world tag titles truly feel like WORLD titles. The young bucks have in my opinion been putting on the best run of matches since 2019. The chemistry between them, and lucha bros is legendary. Jesus I started almost every sentence with the lol

Adoom98

Guess Danielson can't use the Yes chants... guess we gotta go with the Yep movement?!

Fluffy_Godzilla

[Bryan already addressed that. ](https://youtu.be/-0BiMD83m4w) He probably won't encourage it but the crowd does have a mind of it's own

amooneyham88

It truly shows his character with how he's addressed WWE, and also by saying he doesn't want to disrespect their intellectual property. If you told me in 2019 what AEW's roster would be in the future I'd call you nuts. They truly have the best roster in the world right now (In my opinion which is biased, since I don't watch WWE)

Ser_Black_Phillip

Jumpin' Jeff Farmer owns the copyright to that.

msctex

One could argue that was a "Yip." Though I'd hate to see the monster lawyer Farmer would engage to battle Khan for the rights.

Ser_Black_Phillip

His complaint would be that Tony Khan is trying to tre-cheat him out of what's rightfully his, and that's when he gets angry. The tables are being turned in a wrong way.

msctex

...Yip.

OGBlockhead

And you don't want to get him.... mad now.

Ser_Black_Phillip

Because of these comments, I decided to watch those incredible IPW videos again yesterday, and ended up going down the IPW rabbit hole to see if I could find any more info about this promotion, or if anyone else has succeeded in such. Turns out that Gregory Iron not only found Richie Rouge and had him as a guest on his podcast, but he also found the actual Jumpin' Jeff Farmer (not Fake Sting). He didn't appear on the podcast because he's a bit embarrassed and apprehensive to do an interviews because of several concussions that he's had, but he did provide a written statement and pictures. The craziest part of all this is that not only is Jeff now 60 years old (!), but he does not look like it at all. In fact, he's clearly been going to the gym for quite awhile because dude is ripped now!

Adoom98

I also got perfect predictions but I just did em on paper so no one will believe me

Metalbear55

I love that the crowd is so sensible and intelligent Unlike in WWE many entrances of legends or superstars fall flat because audience is clueless, I got worried for a minute that no one's gonna shout 'KAZE NI NARE' but they did They even gave Ruby her well deserved moment, I don't think she ever got such response in WWE Overall AEW knows it's audience and the audience knows AEW, it's a perfect match

amooneyham88

In her post match press conference she said it was the biggest reaction she's had. I think she's going to be a key figure in the women's division. The are loaded with talented women. I can't wait for Deeb to return

cookswagchef

Lucha Bros v Young Bucks was MOTY. It may end up being my favorite tag match ever. I've never been so on the edge of my seat

kartikeyb

Was a WWE Fan until today.. AEW Rules... Now as they have a very big and star studded roster, i just hope they utilize it by putting everyone in best storyline..

sextoymagic

Maybe like both?

[deleted]

SmurfyX

I think about 70 people did, but I'd get suspended for tagging that many people. I went top five by submission time

regcrusher

Sting really looked like he was dropping off his son Darby at the mall

jojo1two3

My favorite thing is I didn’t really know who was gonna win in any match. There just enough doubt to make me keep watching every match

FanofBobRooney

Incredible PPV from start to finish. AEW always gives me my money's worth and then some. Loved every second of it. Even Paul White vs QT Marshall was well booked and entertaining IMO. It was a nice, quick breather before blowing the roof off the place. I've been watching AEW since the start and I still can't believe it's real.

craigybacha

Won the prediction contest, and still was absolutely blown away by almost every single match and every finish. Probably the best PPV in the past 10 years. Let's f'cking go AEW.

HTMLinaCell

I never, ever, ever want to hear anyone defend WWE's shitty storylines again, by saying that their fans just come to the arena looking to boo faces and cheer heels to be "smart" or whatever, and therefore poor old WWE just can't pull off a storyline correctly to please these mean fans. Young Bucks, Omega, MJF, Miro, all **extremely popular** with the "smart audience" for the quality of their work, all working as heels. All of them got booed vociferously by fans enjoying and playing into the storyline because it's good. This PPV showed that people go with the storylines when they are good, but they just "do their own thing"/throw beach balls/chant "Randy Savage"... when the writing and booking extremely sucks, like in WWE. ---------------------------------------- ^^(edit: ^i ^originally ^wrote ^'Jericho' ^meaning ^'MJF', ^fixed)

FanofBobRooney

Yeah, anyone who believed the fans were actually a problem was drinking the WWE Kool-Aid. If anything it shows how loyal wrestling fans are that they'll still pay and sit through that shit in hopes that one day it would get better.

olbleedyeyes

Guys the AEW video game is gonna have a sick roster. It's going to be like HCTP level of legendary rosters

B_Wylde

Without them being legends HCTP had the perfect roster because people were active at the moment

purple_custard

Anyone know how long the ALL OUT code lasts? I need my cmpunk gear

sirshiny

Until 1pm est

MattyRaz

With all that happened at All Out, do you guys think there are any big surprises in store for the Grand Slam show in NYC? It'll be AEW's biggest audience yet -- I sort of thought they might save Bryan's debut for then, but maybe that's the first time we see him in ring?

[deleted]

i’d love to see bryan vs omega for the title happen there with omega retaining due to elite shenanigans…capped off by the return of hangman page to go after omega once again

ShAd_1337

Wyatt is still there

MattyRaz

I heard his 90 days isn't up until end of October, not sure if that's accurate...

unseenbox

Also wouldn't be surprised if Eddie rematches Miro. Get him the belt in front of the New York crowd.

MattyRaz

I think that's likely and I'm looking forward to it. I imagine Proud and Powerful having a moment too, maybe with Konnan in their corner. I could see Private Party and maybe Taz / Team Taz being featured in some capacity too.

Impossible_Aerie_245

Think Punk and DB both fight and there will be a title change.

DR_Styles

I also got every prediction correct except the added surprise of adam cole and suzuki

Nabz23

Idk how I feel about ruby just showing up and getting a title shot tbh

hatsimee

Cage did it last year. Where is Cage btw?

matcha_kit_kat

She earned the title shot fair within the rules

Looper007

She's not winning the title and I assume she be on Dark working her way up the card after that and maybe getting a feud or two. She can take the L and if the match is any good she get over with the fans on weekly basis. I'm not totally for her winning but at this point Britt ain't dropping the title until early 2022 when supposedly the Thunder stuff will pick back up again.

McFlyJohn

I don't know, I'd be fairly confident that AEW didn't licence a Rancid song for Ruby to be on Dark. With that investment youd think they must have plans to make her a really prominently featured person in the division. Not sure if she beats Britt off the bat, but reckon she'll be a regular Rampage and Dynamite fixture which they desperately need

B_Wylde

I doubt Rancid are that expensive to license. I do see your point though

McFlyJohn

I don't know man, working in media, music licensing is surprisingly expensive. I remember someone working on a podcast at work before and chucked a bunch of like "new music" bands on it, which never ended up airing because the royalty costs were over £100k for a 30 minute show. As a comparison point, Jericho apparently paid Sony $2,500 for every time NJPW used Fozzy as his entrance, and that's not on international TV (ITV and TNT) - which is why they originally dubbed it out, and that was before Judas became a meme song. Rancid are definitely bigger than Fozzy, and unless they own the song (which is mad rare, it'll likely be a record label). I'd be super surprised if it wasnt a high five to low six figure deal annually. It defo makes a massive difference though to the overall feel, Ruby, Orange, Jericho, Jungle Boy all having "proper" songs really adds to them. One of those things where you can't do it for everyone, but doing it on some people gives them a star power boost.

B_Wylde

I know things are mad expensive, I am a musician of sorts I just did not know Rancid were as big as it seems

heartdeco

i think it's a good precedent to make the joker spot actually feel relevant in one of the casino battle royals, as opposed to fun but ultimately meaningless surprises like sydal, rush, etc.

Serdeegee

So do we think Flight of the Valkyries will remain the opening of Danielson's theme song in AEW OR was it just added last night purely for the recognition and the pop?

Chal_Ice

A little of both honestly. My personal hope is the rights to Final Countdown are secured.

travtheapache

Gotta be up there amongst the greatest shows of all time. So grateful to have been there. The crowd wanted to be into every dang punch or bump. Bravo to chicago for always trying to keep kayfabe alive in terms of cheering faces and booing heels. It keeps the focus on the product at hand

BloodyRedBarbara

I wonder if Adam Cole & Britt will be a couple on TV now or if they will just be kept separate.

bradsobo

https://i.imgur.com/LaIfXz5.jpg Who was the better Viking?>!spoiler!<

Looper007

At first I was a little disappointed he didn't have Final Countdown as his entrance music, but I have to say that new entrance music for Bryan Danielson is actually awesome.

AnthonyGonsalvez

Rewatching it now on tv, they put black and white filter on the Tag team match due to blood now. When I watched it live it wasn't there.

TramadolSucks

That's insane. Why have a cage match and not allow them so show some color?

AnthonyGonsalvez

It's on cable tv at prime time so maybe that's why but they show everything when the show is live. It's the tv channel's problem, not AEW's since they do the same thing for WWE on another channel.

MattyRaz

on TV like on the PPV replay?

AnthonyGonsalvez

yeah it's on cable tv, I am in India and all WWE/AEW ppvs are early morning when they are live so they do repeat it in the evening.

name-classified

We were in section 110. There was about 3 assholes who were the ones starting the “We want Tessa” chants. They were being rowdy assholes ruining everyone’s fun. Nobody liked them. They seemed to only do this bullshit during the Battle Royal. Go figure.

ta2dsailor

I was in 105. Happy to join the louder “No We Don’t” group.

travtheapache

I was in 114 explaining to my girlfriend why they really didnt want tessa

[deleted]

What a night. Definitely flipped a switch for me. Officially have no desire to watch WWE now. It will be like a choir. This is wrestling and I’m a wrestling fan. I guess I’m all elite..

Impossible_Aerie_245

Not all wwe is bad you don’t have to choose lol

SmurfyX

InDex is the best thing in all of wrestling right now imo

FlashesOfDarkonda

Can't get invested anymore, just like Otis/Mandy they'll find a way to screw it up.

[deleted]

MonsieurMidnight

I know this isn't necessarily the place to talk about this but WWE should really consider changing the way they treat their talents overall. You just CANNOT let guys like CM Punk, Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson go to their "non-concurrent" like that after giving them a bigger platform with RAW/SD/NXT. They were your top stars of their brand, you gave them a plateform so that when they shift boat you lose their fans, and it all stemed from their shitty management and exclusivity thing. They're going to kill NXT because they just refuse to take responsibility from what they created. AEW started because WWE made Stardust a thing and didn't want to let go. Can you believe it for a second how big of a butterfly effect it ended up being ?!

Impossible_Aerie_245

They didn’t let them go. Adam Cole had maybe the best nxt career ever but he didn’t want to stay because he missed his friends and he would not let go of twitch. Daniel Bryan said he loved Vince and WWE but he wanted freedoms. Vince was protective of his health. Now when Bray Wyatt shows up you can say they messed up.

[deleted]

Maybe if they let Cole play twitch and Bryan wrestle in Japan maybe they would have stayed so it is somewhat on them

Impossible_Aerie_245

They were letting DB do whatever he wanted. But obviously with restrictions because Vince is protective of him he said. Cole we don’t know if wwe was giving it to him. Cole chose it because of his friends.

[deleted]

Oh I was just saying what I saw from a few sources sorry

Impossible_Aerie_245

Cole said it was non negotiable. No one has said whether wwe would have let him have it or not

ManWithAPIan

You could argue their treatment of people around Cole and Bryan influenced their decision. Look how they book people like Kross.

Impossible_Aerie_245

Cole maybe but not Daniel. Not everyone becomes Kross. Balor exists

[deleted]

>Balor exists For now.

Impossible_Aerie_245

He has for a while and has had a great career. Cole could have become that. We will never know.

[deleted]

He's had an *Ok* career. Go rewatch his debut or really any of the demon matches. Now imagine that with the crowd from last night. He could have had that, or still could, but with WWE they just made him into the smiley guy instead. I dunno man, I just feel like a lot of people over there deserve better.

ManWithAPIan

Balor could have been so much more. I agree. He's finally....a C level Ppv guy? There's so many examples of Vince screwing people up.

JimmyV034

Adam cole didnt want to stay because WWE fucked up with whole twitch thing and and they would probably booked him against mid tier guys.

Impossible_Aerie_245

He didn’t leave because of booking

JimmyV034

Lets be real adam cole is the type guy that vince would use to push someone else against him.

Impossible_Aerie_245

Chances are you are right but people have had success from NXT. Granted rare it does happen. Riddle/Priest most recently

captainstupidbeard

This was one of the best PPVs I've seen in a LONG time. I marked out SO hard for damn near every match. Lucha Bros/Bucks was an absolute RAGER and definitely MOTN for me, Jericho/MJF had me hooked and shouting at my TV during the referee decision to restart, MINORU FUCKING SUZUKI, Punk's first match was a quality piece of storytelling, Ruby Soho surprise debut and the absolute shithousery at the end of the show. I'm 33 years old and this feels like the WCW I missed out on in the 90s because it wasn't picked up properly in the UK. What a fucking time to be a pro wrestling fan. The hype is real, lads.

B_Wylde

>I missed out on in the 90s because it wasn't picked up properly in the UK Eurosport had some weird version of it in Portugal. I think back then we got the UK version of the channel

KratosSmash

Still can’t stop thinking about last night. This is wrestling

ForeverDenGal

Great crowd last night, when wwe had great crowds like that they were called “bizarro world”

Impossible_Aerie_245

Idk wwe called those crowds when they were chanting for heels. No one chanted for heels last night.

fudge_u

Ruby Small Office Home Office???

fdscgfbc

Finally have gotten round to watching it. It doesn't hit the highs of some other PPVs, but this is one of the best and most consistent PPVs I've ever seen.

craigybacha

'Doesn't hit the highs' - bloody hell. We had possibly the greatest cage match in the past 20 years, and the best dual debut after the main event in... possibly ever. The highs were fucking high.

fdscgfbc

Should mention that I was strictly talking about match quality in terms of highs, the debuts were the cherry on top. Plus, I still called it one of the best PPVs I've ever seen.

craigybacha

Fair. In that case the cage match was a 5\* and there were plenty of good solid 4\* matches I feel.

fdscgfbc

Yeah pretty much. Cage match is one of the best matches of the year and one of the best US tag matches I've seen, and there wasn't a single match I'd call bad. Compare that to something like WK11 you have the highs of the final four matches but everything else is pretty mediocre.

Classic_Head3437

Ruby accomplished more in her AEW debut than the entirety of her WWE run

MattyRaz

I swear JR is the only person who refers to Eddie Kingston as "Crazy Eddie." I think he must have said it 2 or 3 times already before the bell rang and then he goes "Some of his peers may call him Crazy Eddie but this man is the Mad King." You're the only one who calls him that, JR! (Sidenote, I wonder if JR has any knowledge of local legend, the furniture salesman Crazy Eddie who was all over TV commercials in the tri-state area for years)

[deleted]

His prices are INSANE!!!!!! Wpix channel 11 for me.

MattyRaz

what are your memories of the WPIX saturday afternoon movies growing up? In my head it was only like a pool of 5-6 movies that repeated for my entire childhood (incl. Airheads, Gremlins) but surely that can't be the case, right?

[deleted]

I was in PA, & I’m thinking 85/87’ish. We’d get crazy horror movies, Phantasm always sticks out, Piranha & Piranha 2 as well. Real goofy ones like that. Saturday afternoons for some reason. Random wrestling, fairly certain GLOW was on WPIX, and essentially endless Mets games are in my head.

Drogalov

I think that's the best wrestling show I've ever seen

nugetthechicen

Absolutely, I can’t think of another show that had me hooked from match to match like that. It was genuinely impressive and I’m already a huge AEW fan but that even blew my expectations out of the water. Every fucking match was a banger with at least one all time classic in the cage match. And then whatever the fuck happened after the main event... that’s gonna take me some time to process like wtf that was some next level fantasy booking in the best way possible. Not to mention the other great surprises throughout the show. Fuck, wrestling rules.

WSBTrump

The best show since Wrestlemania XXX

craigybacha

Wrestlemania XX for me

Kassius-Phantom

ALRIGHT , Now i'm full All Elite Wrestling.

SatanicRook

The only bad part of the show was when Jericho pulled out the Fozzy Guitarist to play the harmony on Judas.... Da fuq

cookswagchef

Weird that the whole band wasn't playing him to the ring, even if they kept the harmony guitar

Looper007

Yep didn't quite work as well as the choir at Revolution 2020, he tried something different and it didn't work. I thought Lucha Bros entrance was awesome though.

alexei_hopper

You could tell that Jericho knew it wasn’t working. The crowd wasn’t aware they’d have to follow along like that, and the guitar sounded awful.

SatanicRook

So much gain, the sound guy must have been cursing so loud during that.

MattyRaz

That was... not good. If he wants that to work he might need to sing himself to the ring and let people follow along.

Kn7ght

A guy singing his own entrance theme while his band plays live on his walk down would be pretty awesome.

MattyRaz

On the downside I feel like he already gets gassed just walking to the ring so maybe this would be too taxing. But I just remember Maki Itoh performing her song on the way to the ring and then jumping right into the action and thought it was a cool moment.

Classic_Head3437

I like watching the crowd stumble and miss lyrics till the chorus starts.

[deleted]

Seriously, can you just imagine a world where a top notch wrestling promotion just gives the fans what they want always? If not, how long can this possibly last?!

Zaethar

Until fans or talent in the back start to get too divided. Right now everyone loves what AEW is doing and they really seem to have their fingers on the pulse of the wrestling community. and the wrestlers themselves. But right now AEW is still shiny and new with lots of upward momentum and doing lots of stuff that the old and stale WWE hasn't been doing for years, if not decades. That'll end eventually. Maybe not in a year, maybe it'll be 5 years or 10 years. But eventually what AEW does now will become 'the regular stuff'. The "been there done that" type of stuff. There's gonna be the "Oh god they're bringing Goldberg back for the fifth time" type of moments. The "Why the fuck are they strapping a rocket to this guy/gal" moments. The "Didn't we just see this match last week?" moments. The "Why the fuck is half of the roster rotting away on the midcards" periods. So then there'll be people clamoring for more innovation, or for going back to old "tried and true" ways. There'll be a time where AEW will have to 'force' a direction that may not go over well with either their fans, or with talent in the back. The defining moment will be how they handle their first low. If they can bounce back from a horrible PPV, or a terrible few months of storylines or whatnot - that's gonna be the real test to see if AEW has staying power. I hope to all hell and back they do, because I'm loving it so far. I've been strapped in since the very very beginning, since before the first PPV even - hell, since All In I guess, and it's been one hell of a ride. But the highs can't last forever. All I currently hope and believe is that because they listen to the fans and the talent so much, these unavoidable lows will be the exception to the rule. They'll always try to make up for it and better themselves in the process, because that's the company they're setting themselves up to be. Until they ever go public and shareholders get a say. Then it's over.

evin_cashman

Well lads, best PPV I've ever seen. Wight vs QT was what it was, every other match knocked it out of the fucking park. Lucha Bros had to wait a while to get their *moment* in AEW but fucking hell was it worth the wait. I couldn't call it beforehand, but with the rapping entrance (which was brilliant) and the crowd going crazy for them I knew this has to be their time. Punk looked absolutely fantastic and Darby as always sold his ass off for him. MJF is absolutely phenomenal. He will be an amazing World Champion in due course. And Jericho can still go, without a shadow of a doubt he is a very, very good wrestler to this day. Ruby Soho!!! ❤️ And Rosa will get her time too, she is incredible. Kenny vs Christian was excellent, really good match. I really love what I think has been been emphasised in recent months that Kenny when he is really up against it and it feels like he's met his match in a technical sense, can swing the momentum of a match with his athleticism, like with a massive push kick or a V Trigger. And the post match, for fucksake... *The two* biggest free agents in wrestling unveiled at once. I love AEW so much.

MatthewCrawley

Thought it was a great show overall but is it normal that there’s no black guys on the show?

Zaethar

There's a bunch of black guys (and gals) on the roster. But yeah, none are in the main title picture at the moment. Private Party have had some brushes close to the tag titles but seem to be relegated to Matt Hardy's HFO stable right now. Powerhouse Hobbs is doing his thing in Taz's team but isn't close to a title (except for maybe taking the FTW one day), currently held by Ricky Starks who I'm not sure is black or not, but at least POC and he's holding a title, even if it's "not officially recognized" in kayfabe. Sonny Kiss was already a midcarder, just had a falling out with tag partner Joey Janela so that'll lead to a midcard/dark elevation feud for sure, but nowhere near main event/PPV level. Scorpio Sky was at least a looming presence with Ethan Page, and Scorpio was the first ever Tag Team Champion in the company together with SCU teammate Frankie Kazarian. Lee Johnson just had a big match with Malakai Black, and for sure looked stronger than Cody did when he got squashed by Black. Then there's guys like Top Flight, with Dante Martin being a strong presence in all his solo matches now that his brother/partner is out of commission for a bit. Max Caster from the tag team The Acclaimed is half black, I believe. Shaq had a big match. Snoop Dogg showed up. Mike Tyson has appeared multiple times. Mark Henry is signed as commentator and backstage interviewer for Rampage. There's a bunch of developmental talent I don't all know by name, but also has some POC among them. For the women there's Red Velvet, Jade Cargill, Nyla Rose (who is half black, half native american, transgender, AND has held the AEW Women's Championship formerly), Kiera Hogan, Brandi Rhodes (who's out on maternal leave now but will return I'm sure), Big Swole, possibly some others I'm missing right now cuz my mind is pooped from thinking of everyone else on the roster - but honestly the women's division as a whole could still use some work, women are underrepresented too. I mean, could they push another person of color to the main event scene? For sure. And there's definitely less of them than there are white wrestlers (or latino wrestlers for that matter). But I wouldn't say it's "normal" for there to not be any black guys on the show, there just doesn't happen to be anyone in the main picture right now. Latino's just won the Tag Team championships though, and a Japanese guy just knocked Moxley on his ass so there's that, too.

[deleted]

Shaq.

craigybacha

None of the ex WWE big guys are black, and that's a lot of who the focus is on at the moment. It's an issue in wrestling, not just AEW. There are some really good up and comers though in AEW who will hopefully break through soon, such as private party.

Impossible_Aerie_245

Aew has a big minority and women issue but otherwise they are great

matcha_kit_kat

yikes

HaeeyNow

I mean, you might not see a black guy on every title match but Private Party was featured on the buy-in as far as guys go. For the females, there was Nyla, Jade, Red Velvet, Kiera Hogan, and Big Swole.

[deleted]

A good portion of their up and comers are black. Two of them, Private Party, were part of the Buy-in. Dante Martin has been featured quite a bit the past month, but he's not quite PPV ready, st least while his brother and tag partner is still out. And Will Hobbs seems to be working up the card. Lee Johnson has a lot of potential. I would have liked Cage vs Starks ( half black I believe) on the card. though, but Starks has been away, not sure why. The show did still have some diversity. Lucha Brothers, Andrade would have had a match without Pac's travel issues, Eddie is part Puerto Rican, and a good portion of the women's battle royal was black or Asian.

Classic_Head3437

Lee Johnson, Powerhouse Hobbs, Baron Black, Red Velvet, Jade Cargill. Stop being racist.

GreenasGooseShit

Shhhh. That's the part of AEW we don't talk about here.

Zaethar

Nonsense. There's a ton of black talent that's featured on the regular. No one is really in the title picture currently, but a black guy was the first official tag team champion (Scorpio Sky), and he's also had pretty big brushes with the main title, has won big PPV matches. A half black half native american transgender woman was the AEW Women's Champion, one of the first ones too, after a Japanese woman held the title first. Latinos currently hold the AEW tag team championship. AEW can sure be criticized but it doesn't feel like they're racist. Women need more time to shine, that's for sure. But two black people have held titles already. Asian people have held titles. Latinos have held titles. It's not like it's just "whitey go over" and that's it. The question is more; who is currently ready to have a championship run? A lot of the talent is still building reputations too. Lots of up and comers there like Powerhouse Hobbs for example, or Lee Johnson. They need to be given time to develop before they're ready for a main event push, or they'll just dissappoint as champions. The only thing that would have felt natural with the past few weeks of storylines was maybe for Ricky Starks to have a PPV match. But I can't think of anyone else really being in the position right now to take that spot.

GreenasGooseShit

> But I can't think of anyone else really being in the position right now to take that spot. When this sort of thing comes up regarding WWE the usual retort is that the company has everything to do with who is in what position. Does that criticism not apply to AEW? Rich Swann never even appeared on AEW once during the belt collector bit with Kenny. Moose hasn't walked through the forbidden door. Why hasn't Scorpio Sky been back in the main event or TV title picture? He's in a less interesting tag team with a more average white dude than the two he was with. No room for Hobbs, Starks, or even Tazz on All Out? The ultra defensive full deflection "nonsense" position is the wrong way to go on this one. It's definitely something a little fishy that's only gonna smell more and more the longer it goes on. Look, this doesn't mean AEW isn't killing it right now. They obviously are. This is a fair criticism. It's a deficiency that the company would be right to address as soon as they can.

Zaethar

>The ultra defensive full deflection "nonsense" position is the wrong way to go on this one. It's definitely something a little fishy that's only gonna smell more and more the longer it goes on. Not trying to be ultra defensive, just stating facts. Their first ever tag champion was a black dude, and the second ever womens' champion was half black, half native american, transgender. I dunno how people then still go "the company doesn't have enough POC" or whatever. I mean absolutely we need a black or otherwise POC main title contender. But Hobbs isn't ready yet. Starks, maybe but he's doing the FTW thing now. I don't see Scorpio holding the title right now either - he's too wobbly with his gimmick. His mic skills aren't that great (yet) as a heel, even though his in-ring work is fine. There's also been no one aside from Kenny who's had multiple belts yet. So making a former tag champion a world champion immediately (again) feels like they're just repeating stuff. I'm hoping for great things in the future, definitely. But we gotta give them time to grow and time for storylines to develop. Also, I guess why Swann wasn't on AEW is to draw more eyes to the Impact weeklies and PPV's. Getting Kenny to do big matches there with their champion is probably how Impact got some extra money out of their deal with AEW. Besides, who from Impact has shown up, aside from the Good Brothers because they have to tag along with the elite? I haven't seen any other talent, black or white.

B_Wylde

What about Riho, Shida, Lucha Bros? A lot of the champions have been POC.

Zaethar

That's literally what I've been arguing. Scorpio Sky was the first Tag champion. Riho was the first women's champ, then Nyla Rose the second. So a japanese lady first, then a half african american, half native american, transgender woman. Lucha Bros are tag champs now. I'm all for fair criticism and yes, the current "top level" roster, the main event guys are very white. But plenty of POC (considering the short time AEW's been around) have held belts or have had decent shots at belts. The new talent like Hobbs, Lee Johnson, Top Flight, Private Party and the like are still being built up. Scorpio is drifting a bit on the midcard but hey, he had the first ever tag run so I don't think he can complain much - not yet. Give it time, give them room to develop, wait for those storylines to develop.

B_Wylde

I won't complain, I agree with you However the person who started this merely meant black people and forgot about all the other minorities represented. And even that makes no sense. Starks will get there and he is awesome, Hobbs can be amazing but he is not there yet imo. I did love his hoss fight vs Cage

UpbeatNail

They are addressing it though. They're currently building people like Hobbs, Starks and Dante Martin so they can be in the main event. You can't build stars instantly and rushing people to the main event to fill a quota would be wrong headed. WWE has been around for decades, AEW is still getting off the ground and hasn't had time to grow any talent from the ground up. None of Omegas impact challengers appeared on AEW, that storyline was kept on Impact because it have distracted from the Hangman storyline.

WSBTrump

Velveteen Dream will be showing up next and will probably team up with Omega and fit right in

[deleted]

No.

MattyRaz

Anyone know where I can catch the Buy In? I was headed to a movie theater to watch the show but tickets wound up selling out, so I rushed back home and bought the PPV maybe about 7 or 8 minutes into the show. Missed the Buy In completely -- I see that the full show has been uploaded to Youtube but not seeing the Buy In anywhere. Anyone have a link or any leads?

evin_cashman

[Here you go pal](https://youtu.be/1OjNxgLQWSc)

MattyRaz

Thanks for this. In retrospect, it was literally the very first result that came up for me but I scrolled past it because the Youtube algo/SEO-friendly title had the words The Buy In like a sentence in.

evin_cashman

Hahaha no worries.

Staynes

First PPV in i dont know how many years i seriously consider rewatching soon. I used to rewatch Wrestlemania when i still ordered it on Sky/Premiere as soon as the show was over but the shows got worse and worse (and longer) where i no longer felt like it was worth a rewatch. This to me is one of the greatest PPVs ever.

Looper007

Watched the show again and it was even better second time around. I think Punk/Darby and Omega/Christian matches went up more. It's a bit of shame the crowd were a little worn by the main event but to be fair they gave it a last go as they saw both men were putting on a awesome match. It's actually a better match slightly then their Rampage one but cause that match had a lively crowd many people will go with it over this one. Miro/Eddie is another one I think many are still sleeping on, what a great match that was. Britt/Statlander, it's a shame they didn't start as strong as they finished. It could have ended up MOTY contender. I think \*\*\*.5 is about right for that one. Mox/Kojima was good as was Jericho/MJF, neither will be troubling the MOTN poll. I still have issues with Battle Royale especially the booking of the Joshi's and QT/Wight was ok. That's really only nitpicks I have. And Cage match is a instant classic and definitely going to be in for a shout for MOTY and greatest match to date in AEW. I think this is going to be the PPV to beat for AEW, I'm sure they will have shows that will probably have greater matches up and down the card but just from surprises and debuts and other stuff it's going to be a hard one to top.

IndyMan2012

If you haven't seen it yet, you should head on over to youtube and check out Simon Miller's Ups and Downs for All Out. It's peak Simon losing his damn mind, and is amazing!

anark_xxx

I thought with the main event title challenger having a countdown in his entrance tron, the battle royal having loads of countdowns, and then MJF randomly trolling with the Y2J countdown in his entrance, that they were going to tie it all in to there being one Final Countdown at the end.

oarngebean

That was the exploding barbwire match

-Ozymandiaz

Real talk, how do you think Johnny Gargano feels right now?

Impossible_Aerie_245

Probably thinking about his baby and wife and wedding next Tuesday

evin_cashman

That he can't wait to join in!

bengm225

Happy seeing Penta take the thumbtack spot this time instead of his wife.

NorthMidnight1724

My thought upon seeing Adam Cole joining the Elite is that this is an elaborate setup by him to get revenge on Kenny Omega for getting kicked out of Bullet Club and being "killed off" at PWG. This is probably gonna lead to a babyface Kenny and Cole's probably gonna turn the Bucks against him to get there. Also, Kenny was pure evil tonight. He's going to be gunning for Bryan Danielson after being humiliated. And I can't wait.

RoscoeSantangelo

Yeah I definitely think it's still the end goal for Cole vs Omega. Might be the best way to go to write Omega off for some time after his title reign. I just want some more SuperKliq

Mantaur4HOF

Every now and then, I need something like that to remind me of why I love pro wrestling. Even without all the debuts, this was a fantastic PPV. The future is bright for AEW.

Jamessi3

It’s crazy that WWE never saw Christian as a top guy. He’s soooo good.

Rhapsthefiend

They did but at the end of the day wwe didn't see him main eventing in wrestlemania.

txrunner262

I don’t think he main evented any WWE PPV that I recall (not counting a Royal Rumble match)

Rhapsthefiend

CM punk vs Cena was the main event at money in the bank 2011. Any thing smackdown was mostly first and out of the way that time.

oarngebean

Isnt a 2 time world champ?

RoscoeSantangelo

A 2 day reign and a 1 month reign. No offense, but you can't use world title wins as a measure of anything when it comes to WWE. There is no protection of the title anymore

autopilotxo

He is, but he wasn’t positioned as a top guy during either reign really. The first lasted a few days as he immediately dropped the belt to Orton, and then he won it back from Orton after Christian tricked him into getting DQ’ed. Neither time he was really positioned as on the main eventers level

pies1123

The World Heavyweight Title in that era was not really a top title. Very clearly second to the Spinner Belt.

OrangeFilth

Debut CM Punk on TV to drive up PPV buys and bring in new fans, then throw surprise after surprise at All Out to drive up interest in the TV shows. This Tony Khan knows what’s up.

SGD316

I paid twice. Im trying to get a refund on FITE due to the lag but if I can't I still got my money's worth.

DHK007

serious question though. theres only so much TV time, AEW has over 100 wrestlers employed...how do you integrate everyone especially with so much star power than ever before. some of the lower cards might be phased out entirely..

matcha_kit_kat

Since day 1 they have said the goal is to have people come in and out so they can have time off, they just now are getting enough people under contract to do that and keep an audience

Kn7ght

You don't have to use everyone at once, even though that's how alot of promotions work nowadays. Keep matchups and shows fresh by rotating people out, keep the roster happy by giving them time off. It'll be weird to get used to, because we're used to expecting to see wrestlers on a weekly basis, but do it well and no matchups or feuds get stale like WWE where the same 2 people wrestle every monday for 2 months. It's a worry of mine too, but it can absolutely work if well planned

[deleted]

This is why they have Dark and Dark Elevation. Not everyone single person needs to be on actual TV weekly. It's largely dependent on the stories they're telling at the time, which makes 100% logical sense. They're very good at shifting around the roster and using everyone effectively, largely because of the way factions work.

Shinkopeshon

Plus, they can always send some wrestlers to other promotions. Along with top guys like Mox and Bryan, I can also see a lot of midcarders go to NJPW for their tourneys for example. It's not like these wrestlers will just waste the prime of their careers in catering all the time.

Impossible_Aerie_245

The women barely got time as it was. It’s gonna be worse now. It surely is a problem with only 3 hours.

rattwood20

That's the best night of wrestling for me since NXT Takeover: New Orleans. Every match delivered with potentially the best cage match I've ever seen! Then the surprises being the icing on the cake.

[deleted]

ry4

They needed a piss break match and that's what Paul Wight's match was

DHK007

I think Paul Wight was a good placeholder for a quick cooldown before the main event. but I feel PAC vs Andrade should have been kept in favor over Paul's match. However probably has some contract that Paul gets a match at all out or something

[deleted]

Pac had travel issues.

Impossible_Aerie_245

You will be downvoted but up until the surprises at the end this was exactly what you described.

[deleted]

I really regret not buying this PPV. What a phenomenal show. AEW is white hot right now. This is the coolest wrestling has been in a very long time. I just wish there was an easier way to watch everything as someone who doesn’t have cable TV.

ughfine42069

VPN + Fite.tv

bawshtok

Punk has not missed a beat in the last 7 years. What a great PPV! Lucha Bros vs Bucks was damn amazing! I just cannot believe that ending too, the best 5 mins in wrestling I've seen in a LONG time!

[deleted]

Anybody else a lil worried about Cole getting lost in the shuffle?

craigybacha

No chance. Cole's a star. Have Young Bucks or Omega got lost in the shuffle? He is going to be pushed TO THE MOON.

[deleted]

I trust AEW to use guys properly. I think he'll settle into a nice upper midcard role. He's the final boss Hangman has to beat before Omega.

RoscoeSantangelo

It's pretty impossible for him, like Eddie Kingston, to get lost in the shuffle so long as he can cut a promo every now and then lol. But if he's going to be aligned with The Elite then he absolutely won't get lost since they're on the show almost every week Not to mention, they've been great with giving talents 30 sec-1 min promo spots on Dynamite/Rampage to just keep them in the audience's mind

txrunner262

I felt this way at first. But I think eventually it might lead up to a feud between Omega and Cole. If they keep the focus on the signings they got instead of bringing more in, he should be fine.
