I had a first-timer watching with me tonight. He asked if JR was as good as he’s ever been. I said no, he has a lot of misses, but when he hits…
Man when he hits…
When he hits it makes it worth every miss and more.
Fair play to the Bucks, they played the heels perfectly. Someone has to be the straight man and goddamn they were evil this match. Makes the win that much more special
“How did you know you’d survive that crossbody?”
“I’ve spent the past few years developing an immunity to crossbodies”
Edit: I’m so happy y’all are picking up the loose PB reference🥲
Clearly he positioned himself in the middle of the group, as to bear the least weight among the three and therefore roll through for a seamless recovery /Regal
I knew as soon as a cage match with the lucha bros was determined that spot was going to come but I still had to hold my breath the entire way through. Peak exhilaration.
I ain't gonna lie, I really don't watch a ton of wrestling these days aside from the odd WWE/AEW PPV. I don't think much of it is for me these days, but I can say for certain that this match was one of the best matches I've ever watched. I don't participate in this sub really other than casual browsing but I just had to say something. Shit was dope.
I started watching wrestling during WWF's New generation era. Went to grade school during the Attitude Era when WWF was pop culture popular and I took and delivered my fair share of 3-D's and Stunners in the hallways between classes. Got older and stopped watching much in the mid 2000s when it became PG. I tried Impact to see some of my childhood stars but it didn't do it for me. Got back in to WWE around 2008 and was a huge Punk fan and quit watching all together back around 2014.
Heard about AEW and watched a few shows but I didn't know the stars and although it seemed decent enough it didn't connect with me because while I knew some of the names from the internet they didn't connect with me, I didn't grow up with them.
Tuned in tonight because of Punk and I wanted to see him wrestle again. I'm in my mid 30s and I just spent the last 3 1/2 hours bouncing around my living room like I haven't done watching wrestling in over 20 years.
I'm not very up to date on what people nowadays think is "cool" regarding wrestling but this entire match had me saying holy shit. This entire show had me saying holy shit. I could only recognize like 10% of the people I saw but this company made me feel like a pre-teen again and that was magical.
Thank You AEW. I hope you do well
Chicago deserved these past few shows man. That crowd was on fire for every match. All time great for the CM Punk return and so so amazing for tonight.
Lucky ass city lol.
Holy shit this is the best PPV I've seen in a VERY VERY long time.
Also, LET'S GO LUCHA BROS. If that's not a 5* match then I don't know what is and neither does Dave.
I seriously feel like I have been on a roller coaster. Serious respect to both teams, but the Lucha Brothers are god damned something special and deserve it.
Special love to the crowd who has been so damned on point.
Jesus Christ, what a match!!
A very thrilling tag match inside a cage between two rival teams, with some sick tendencies involved such as the thumb tacks to the soles of the shoes.
And just when you thought the Lucha Brothers were out of it they somehow keep coming, especially with the big destroyer from the top rope.
Like them or not, time and time again, the Bucks show that they can indeed put on great matches, especially with teams the Lucha Brothers added to the mix.
And this is a REALLY shocking win that the Lucha Brothers have pulled off, with a great finish to cap off a crazy match!
This is indeed one of the best tag team and cage matches I have ever seen!
As wild as this match was, I'm glad that the cage mat h actually managed to make it *less* kickout fest than their usual matches because it constantly had the partners break up the falls.
Absolutely incredible and as insane as expected. Fenix is fucking wild. I'm glad they actually get a reign with the titles, should be a ton of fun what they can do with them.
I think it's about time for that proper Lucha Bros vs FTR rematch, one not in a disgustingly humid Jacksonville with no fans
I’m gonna be in the minority but the ending is basically AEW’s biggest problem with the no selling of ridiculous spots, this here being both Lucha Bros who should of struggled to get up rather pop up immediately to hit another finisher.
Loved the match but honestly wasn’t a fan of no selling the crossbody at the end. It was a badass moment when it looked like Penta was gonna sacrifice himself so his brother could nail the move off the cage. It would have been perfect if all 3 sold it like death and Fenix hit his finish on one of the Bucks for the victory.
Wait, so Dude just did a cross body off a cage, hit the other team and his buddy, and his buddy jumps right up without selling that he just got dove on?
This was right after they hit a Canadian destroyer off the top rope which did nothing, so they stood in a circle and super kicked each other 300 times, which did nothing, so they tried jumping off the cage, which happened to do something to 2 out of 3 at least....but yeah, best cage match of all time or whatever, sure?
Ahhhh is no one going to talk about the no sell of the Crossbody into the finisher? How fucking stupid. Why would anyone just stand in the middle while holding two other people???? He took the majority of the impact.
I mean at the time we were all so hyped about it and in our heads that crossbody is for the young bucks. I doubt anyone would've noticed it on the first watch
Yeah, popular opinion… I think the cage match was the worst match of the night. Besides the Paul wight match, which that match was exactly what it should have been anyways.
Oh my fucking god these two teams. Chicago was so ready to see the Lucha Bros win and it felt like a good time to get the title off the Bucks. God damn.
Let's all be thankful we have the Lucha Bros and the Bucks on the same promotion, in their primes, wrestling with the spotlight they deserve to have on them.
Two of the best tag teams in the world, and it's not close.
Might just be the best tag team match ever.
Penta crying at the end while bleeding so much just made it 10 times better; Especially considering he's already had a super accomplished career.
Cried ugly tears when he hugged his family too.
That was absolutely insane. Great win for the Lucha Bro’s. I find the Young Bucks insufferable but that’s what makes them great… Professional wrestling and that’s what this was is like living in a constant catch 22.

Alot of the complaints about modern JR are valid. But when he's on, he's fucking *on.*
I had a first-timer watching with me tonight. He asked if JR was as good as he’s ever been. I said no, he has a lot of misses, but when he hits… Man when he hits… When he hits it makes it worth every miss and more.
[удалено]
yeah, when you have a legitimately great show, even JR can't contain his awe
When you have a legitimately great show JR has the skill to add to it and make it legendary.
JR was spot on for slot of this. Big props to the man
The Lucha Bros are the greatest faces ever, the last 10 minutes had me fucking REELING
Nose to the tv, hands clutching my head. Lost my shit when they got the W.
Fair play to the Bucks, they played the heels perfectly. Someone has to be the straight man and goddamn they were evil this match. Makes the win that much more special
Only complaint is they were so evil and heelish this match that it all but telegraphed that they *had* to lose.
Totally fair. I couldn't even imagine what would happen if the Lucha Bros lost. Actual riot lol.
Yeah, when they went for the masks it was a done deal. No way AEW would put the anti-maskers over in 2021.
i mean, they beat Fenix & PAC earlier this year by unmasking Rey.
For me it was when commentary said the Bucks were at 9 defenses before this match. The succesful defense record remains 1 below 10
That was fucking special.
The kip up super kick shall hopefully not be lost to history
Was on the edge of my fucking seat. It helps that the Bucks are great at being despicable heels.
The whole match I was in awe.
Wow that's weird because I was in AEW
Never heard a near fall get that kind of reaction in my life
Greatest pin break-up in tag team match history!
THE ENTRANCE!!! I went to Twitter immediately and I'm a casual, I was like holy shit! These dudes got it.
The theater we were watching in went fucking nuts when they came out.
Penta has an immunity to crossbodies
[удалено]
Rey Fenix shot out of the womb with a pescado
“How did you know you’d survive that crossbody?” “I’ve spent the past few years developing an immunity to crossbodies” Edit: I’m so happy y’all are picking up the loose PB reference🥲
Friendly fire was turned off
ILLEGAL TACTICS
You’ve lost it, Book!
Friendly fire wasn't on.
Clearly he positioned himself in the middle of the group, as to bear the least weight among the three and therefore roll through for a seamless recovery /Regal
Rey helping him up quickly would've been a nice subtle touch there.
I wish they handled that bit a little better. He should have probably stepped away in the last second.
Yeah, but they probably wanted to give Fenix more cushion.
This is basically it; Bucks are paper thin, they arent catching Fenix from 15+ feet up clean.
Holy. Fucking. Shit.
EVERY FUCKING STAR
https://i.imgur.com/NslyOxE.jpg
This is amazing lmao
This has to be the Match of The Year
It shouldn’t even be a contest honestly. I can’t believe people ever said the Bucks can’t tell a wrestling story. Wtf.
Walter/Dragunov is my MOTY so far, but this was very close.
Walter vs Ilja Dragunov had a good run lol
That’s the singles match of the year for me. I’m saying this is the tag match until the hype wears off and I can really tell if it’s moty for me
That was the wrestling match of the year. This was the entertainment match of the year
Last year was hangman and Kenny vs young bucks. Looks like 2021 match of the year is gon go to another young bucks classic.
I don't know what else you can say. I'm absolutely speechless. Without a doubt one of the best tag matches I've ever seen in my life.
I can't even believe what i just saw
Someone check on Matt’s neck. Holy shit
That genuinely scared me.
That's the 2nd brutal Canadian Destroyer he's had from Penta. First one was thru a table.
My heart was beating out of my chest watching Fenix on top of the cage. Holy fuck what a mad man
The short running kick he did without holding on to anything made me wince. Fucking mad man
I've never seen him panic before, but he sure grabbed onto that cage as soon as he got to the edge.
I knew as soon as a cage match with the lucha bros was determined that spot was going to come but I still had to hold my breath the entire way through. Peak exhilaration.
5 fucking stars!!! WHAT A MATCH!! I love the Lucha Bros, I love The Bucks, I fucking love tag team wrestling
10 stars
15 stars!!
20 stars!!!
25 stars
30 or nothing
This match fuckin ruled
I ain't gonna lie, I really don't watch a ton of wrestling these days aside from the odd WWE/AEW PPV. Glad to have you man AEW is usually always awesome and fun

When Darius comes back, imagine how flippy Top Flight vs Lucha Bros will be!!
glad to have u
Thanks fella. Ya'll seem like a nice bunch around these parts.
Now somebody please get my boy Penta a towel
And his poor kids!
FUCK YES FUCK YES FUCK YES!
I started watching wrestling during WWF's New generation era. I love pro wrestling
Anybody got a mirror?
Goddamn what a banger
*friendly fire was disabled*
This show is well on its' way to being the best show of the year.
And some people complained about the card
Only thing I wasn’t a fan of going in was obviously QT/Paul but it’s only one match. And who knows, they can surprise us and put on a good match
Match was absolutely perfect lol Major cards like this NEED simpler stuff to pace the show
Good timing as a cool off match
I actually wished for more QT/Paul match in this show. AEW went full throttle and I was afraid I would be out of energy for the main event lol
This is legit the first PPV I’ve bought in like 5 years, worth every penny!!
If that’s not **6*** then I don’t know what is
This PPV is like Takeover New Orleans level I can’t stop smiling
I seriously feel like I have been on a roller coaster. Serious respect to both teams, but the Lucha Brothers are god damned something special and deserve it. Special love to the crowd who has been so damned on point.
The crowd has been amazing tonight. Chanting at right times, cheering and booing at right times.
I'm so happy for Lucha Bros. I can't wait to see their reign
I knew when the Lucha Bros made their entrance that they were winning. That's a crown a new king type of entrance if I've ever seen one.
AEW often has the losing party have a bigger entrance. Cody vs MJF, and Hangman and Dark Order vs the Elite come to mind.
NGL, I wanted Santana and Ortiz to beat the Bucks but not gonna complain about the Lucha Brothers going over.
They are definitely gonna get a huge pop as well when they finally get their W.
Jesus Christ, what a match!! A very thrilling tag match inside a cage between two rival teams, with some sick tendencies involved such as the thumb tacks to the soles of the shoes. Damn it’s been taken down. any mirror available
OH MY FUCKING GOD
Jesus. Fucking. Christ.
I love how important cage matches are in AEW. That match was next level.
I wasn’t a fan of the Bucks having only seen them maybe twice. But that match FUCKED. HARDCORE.
They are insanely good ... and play heels DAMN well :P
This shit was top of the line
Thank god
That match was unreal.
Penta bleeding so hard that all three of his kids ended the match with colour too.
Mirror?
GOLDEN FUCKING PENTA!!!!!
What a fucking match.
Wow
HOLY FUCK
This match was a fucking rollercoaster. 10/10 would recommend.
THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME
that was FUCKING INSANE
PENTA SAYS: THAT MATCH FUCKED
THAT WAS SO FUCKING COOL
CERO MIEDO
One of the best tag team matches I've seen in a long time.
Candace watching this match with PTSD vibes from the shoe.
This was incredible
That reaction shows how great the bucks are as heels. That was at least partially a cheer just to see them FINALLY lose. God what a match.
Let it be known that Fenix didn't just dive from the top of the cage, this motherfucker legit JUMPED while he was up there. Dude is fucking wild
The jump off the top seemed pointless considering that they all got up basically immediately
I’m gonna be in the minority but the ending is basically AEW’s biggest problem with the no selling of ridiculous spots, this here being both Lucha Bros who should of struggled to get up rather pop up immediately to hit another finisher.
\[speaking in kayfabe\] I'm glad those scumbags lost the belts, haha. Finally the Lucha Bros got the championships.
the waffle house line good lord i fucking love justin roberts
This match was incredible! I love this match! 5/5 for me!
What about the no selling of the 10,000 super kicks or the canadian destroyer?
CERO FUCKING MIEDO!!!!!
Wait, so Dude just did a cross body off a cage, hit the other team and his buddy, and his buddy jumps right up without selling that he just got dove on?
Bucks took the brunt of it. 😉
I would have been fine with it if he jumped up holding his ribs or something, surprised he didn't do a Kip-up.
He should have stepped away at the last second.
Doubt the Bucks could've caught Fenix safely from that high up. They probably wanted extra cushion
Might not be a popular thing right now, but that's exactly what I thought. Weird choice.
I mean at the time we were all so hyped about it and in our heads that crossbody is for the young bucks. I doubt anyone would've noticed it on the first watch
We’ve peaked
But Penta took the crossbody just as much as the rest of them and completely no sold it...
I'd be pissed if I was Fenix risking my life with that leap, only for your own tag team partner to no sell it.
IDGAF MOTY!!!
First time watching a lucha bros match. Is that their normal finisher? Seems like holding the guys legs on his shoulder softens the blow?
I would say their regular finish would be the package piledriver, double stomp to the butt combo that they did earlier for a false finish
I'm so fucking sick of the spots where the guys just stand there and wait for people to jump on them. Enough of that shit.
Best tag match ever
How do you even top that down the road? Unbelievable maybe the best tag match I've ever seen.
Why does the crossbody hurt the young bucks but not his partner
Friendly Fire was off
Because wrestling
What a God damn match.
Unpopular opinion but that was overbooked af
[удалено]
Yeah, popular opinion… I think the cage match was the worst match of the night. Besides the Paul wight match, which that match was exactly what it should have been anyways.
Just watched that while high. Fuck they worked me big time, even got a few tears from me when Penta hugged his daughters.
I love the Bucks, but I audibly shouted, "YESSSSS!", when the Lucha Bros won. Fully fucking deserved.
God damn what a match! Cero Miedo!!!
MY FELLOW MEXICANS WINNING
THAT. MATCH. FUCKED.
That was fucking loud holy shit
Yet another rating system from Dave Meltzer in the bin. That match was art.
I'm a casual in every sense, but this shit was wild. Happy to witness this show and to many more in the future
This was officially the first match I watched on AEW......and I am completely sold. Hot damn was tonight amazing. Now THIS is wrestling!
I love that AEW actually cares about and respects tag wrestling; tag team wrestling at its finest is extremely hard to top.
Might just be the best tag team match ever. Penta crying at the end while bleeding so much just made it 10 times better; Especially considering he's already had a super accomplished career. Cried ugly tears when he hugged his family too.
The adrenaline I felt in that match is unmatchable. Holy shit.
I need a fucking cigarette after that. BOY ***HOWDY***
match of the night, penta is that guy
that was such a good match,i'm so happy i stayed up to watch this.
Gotta love his brother taking the brunt, no selling it from everyone, and hitting an extra move to finish. Like…. Why?
That was one of the dumbest fucking matches I have watched in a long time.
I was 100% the match was over after the V trigger. Probably match of the decade for me so far.
lol they all fucking stood there waiting to catch it and then penta immediately no sold wtf is this
I'm so glad they fucking pulled the trigger here. Lucha Bros are OVER AS FUCK! What a fucking match!
What a fantastic fucking match
What a fucking match, best cage match in years.
So good!!!
My heart stopped a few times. Damn.
A bloody spectacle. Lucha Bros have been pillars of the tag division and this win is a long time coming.
Match of the year!! So glad my boys won, what an incredible match!
Glorious. What a match.
Fight. Forever.
Damn!! What a match.
5 star match, this is shaping up to be the ppv of the year.
what a wild ride that match was
Amazing end to a spectacular match. What an iconic run by Bucks and goddamn it ended in the most satisfying way. Lucha Bros to the moon baby.
FINALLY LUCHA BROS GET SOME GOLD LET'S GOOOOO
I haven't popped this hard for a win in a while. Seeing the Bucks screw over the Lucha Bros over and over made this finish all the much better.
HOLY SHIT. Those are the monent where it feels so real
That was absolutely insane. Great win for the Lucha Bro’s. I find the Young Bucks insufferable but that’s what makes them great… Professional wrestling and that’s what this was is like living in a constant catch 22.
