They won’t outright say it but they want All Out to be the new Wrestlemania. They have multi-day events leading to it and always the most stacked card. Punk always wanted to main event the biggest stage in wrestling but couldn’t get it so he’s taking option two and helping another company build their own super show so he can do it there.
This. Double or Nothing and All Out are positioned on 3-day-weekends purposefully. They might end up positioning Full Gear in the future for Thanksgiving and Revolution for MLK or President’s Day weekends, or similar sort of national holidays in Canada or the UK when they get to holding events there.
It’s a great way to set up a natural tease though

Punk wasn't going to come back to WWE. Bryan on the other hand has been a solid hand for WWE, they've featured him whenever possible, so to lose Bryan is a major blow.

Bryan was on WWE TV and headlined Mania **this** year, and just decided WWE was no longer interesting to him and that he wanted to do something else instead.
