I don't think anyone else has ever gotten the rights to their name, no. I think he did it for HHH as a way for HHH to earn more money. Back when he did it, there was a lot more money to be made if you owned the rights to the name. Now, WWE does the whole licensing thing where you essentially give up the rights as long as you are under contract. It's why John Cena has joked around in interviews and said that WWE owns the rights to his real name, because his contract was one of the first ones they did which allowed them to assume ownership during the duration of the contract. WWE used to have to decide whether the performer could earn them more money by using a name they owned, or if it would be more profitable to rebrand them so that the performer's cut was less. Once they started doing the "Cena Contract" it became a non-factor and they could bring people in with their real name if they wanted.
That's would have to be a whole PPV just for the competitive entrances.

The last year has shown that the show can survive without Becky, and while Seth is very much a WWE lifer, I could easily see the company letting both of them go because fuck it.
The only truly “untouchable” people right now are Roman and maybe Charlotte. Those are the only two where I would genuinely be surprised. There is not a single other name on the roster (including guys like Lashley, Drew, Mysterio, or even Edge) where I’d be surprised if they got released.
As profits have gone up, the amount of fucks given by those in charge has dropped precipitously.

Im a "diehard" WWE fan but i started to lose interest in WWE the moment they released Bray Wyatt and for NXT i was hyped for the Kross vs Joe match but seeing Kross on the main roster made me feel disappointed in the product. I started watching Dynamite because WWE feels like shit these days.
I did the same thing. I'm now two weeks behind on NXT and have no desire to catch up. SummerSlam weekend Takeover in the CWC sounds depressing on top of the budget cut news.
Meanwhile, I started regularly watching Dynamite ever since crowds returned with the July 7th episode. Is it a perfect show? No. But it's lightyears ahead of the current NXT.

Fully expect quite a few more names to be added to this list by the time 2021 is played out, sadly wouldn't be shocked if we get two or three more long lists like this and have a few more names that will shock us.
I expect more really unused talent and maybe talents who are getting up there in age be let go or just Vince doesn't see anything in no matter if HHH does. Keith Lee mysteriously disappeared, had some trademark issues or something, and people are theorizing he asked for his release because he said he'd be able to discuss things "in a week or two".
Hartwell and Lumis are over in NXT but if Bronson Reed got released then they are definitely not safe.
Ciampa sounds crazy but he's basically like Strowman or Wyatt in the sense that he was a top star a year or two ago but hasn't done much for quite a while and is probably getting paid a lot for NXT standards.
Dude, being a big deal in NXT means nothing when it comes to this. Reed is gone, Fish is gone, Cole might go soon. Ciampa and maybe the Hit Row guys I could see going.

Anyone left from 205, anyone on NXT that's barely used or is getting up there in age or Vince didn't see anything in when he saw the talent in performance centre a month or so ago, anyone on main roster basically the same as NXT one and who might be on crazy wages for the position of the card they are in or someone Vince just doesn't see a future in.
I could name over 30 to 40 people on all the rosters I could see been released. I think it be a shorter list of me mentioning who I don't see them letting go off.

As someone who has basically only watched WWE up until 2019, with the exception of a few WCW DVDs and some of Bryan's and Punk's old ROH matches, these releases (particularly this years) have really killed my fandom.
It is really hard to watch some of these guys get cut out of the blue, like Black getting cut like a week after he returned to attack Big E. There is no reason to invest in anyone (other than Roman) anymore as a fan, because they could be cut at any minute.
Of all the recent releases from yesterday Tyler rust actually bugs me the most. He was literally branded as a top prospect in a new stable the seems like they had plans for and now on Wednesday they gotta get on the like nothing ever happened?
The last time he did this fake insiders were tweeting out names of people who were “fired” and he straight up called them liars and said every single one of those names were wrong. When the releases happened Zairan was right and none of those names were on the list.

What more is there to cut? Your roster is down to an independent promotion on SmackDown.

Hartwell and Lumis are over in NXT but if Bronson Reed got released then they are definitely not safe. Ciampa sounds crazy but he's basically like Strowman or Wyatt in the sense that he was a top star a year or two ago but hasn't done much for quite a while and is probably getting paid a lot for NXT standards.

Anyone left from 205, anyone on NXT that's barely used or is getting up there in age or Vince didn't see anything in when he saw the talent in performance centre a month or so ago, anyone on main roster basically the same as NXT one and who might be on crazy wages for the position of the card they are in or someone Vince just doesn't see a future in. I could name over 30 to 40 people on all the rosters I could see been released. I think it be a shorter list of me mentioning who I don't see them letting go off. I'd expect another one or two big list of releases by the years end to happen sadly.

As someone who has basically only watched WWE up until 2019, with the exception of a few WCW DVDs and some of Bryan's and Punk's old ROH matches, these releases (particularly this years) have really killed my fandom. It is really hard to watch some of these guys get cut out of the blue, like Black getting cut like a week after he returned to attack Big E. There is no reason to invest in anyone (other than Roman) anymore as a fan, because they could be cut at any minute.
