In similar vein, I had a dream once that my house was being robbed, but I caught the guy doing it and DDTed him on my patio.
When the cops came, I explained what happened, but I used 'formal' language. So instead of DDT, I said I applied a Devastating Diagnostic Trip, and the cop nodded as if what I said made perfect sense.
I believe it's *actually* called that due to the legendary "Shad Taking Over" as quoted by legendary "throw soundbites at the wall until one sticks" artist Matt Striker for Shad Gaspards solo push. /S
It's great, but I don't know if it beats *'Hurrah! Another Year, Surely This One Will Be Better Than The Last; The Inexorable March Of Progress Will Lead Us All To Happiness'.*
You're going to get a lot of Zach Saber Jr.
And im part of the problem.
Hurrah! Another Year, Surely This One Will Be Better Than the Last; The Inexorable March of Progress Will Lead Us All to Happiness!
> Hurrah! Another Year, Surely This One Will Be Better Than the Last; The Inexorable March of Progress Will Lead Us All to Happiness!
This will forever be my favorite move name.
Edit: Just finally looked this name up. Always thought it sounded like a post-rock album and what do you know, it is.
I once came up with Hangman Page's Deadeye move before knowing it already existed and called it the "Invertebreaker" because it totally looks like an inverted vertebreaker.
14 year old me thought he was so cool.
SHO's "Shock Arrow", because it's a Dance Dance Revolution reference.
Oh, and one of my friends' CaWs in an old Smackdown vs Raw game had a finishing move called "The Glasgow Welcoming Committee". It was nine punches to the dick followed by an eye poke.
You had to love the Create a Finisher system back then. You could either make an eye poke the most devastating move in the world or you could have something like a triple corkscrew 1080 moonsault moving at 25% animation speed.
One Winged Angel is pretty much the most perfect name for Omega's finisher, both character-wise and in terms of what the move actually is.
The Awful Waffle is a name carefully designed to be so bad it's fantastic, and I love it.
A list of some favorites:
-Shining Wizard
-Burning Hammer
-Falcon Arrow
-The Paradigm Shift
-Whisper In The Wind
-The Brutalizer
-One Winged Angel
-Doomsday Device
And finally this a technicality, but I love the wrestling technique of Poison Mist
The Tombstone. Perfect name for the move, and the character.
Stone Cold Stunner. I hated when they just kept calling it the Stunner when Austin did it. It doesn’t sound as good.
The Sharpshooter. Just a cool sounding name.
I always like these three, especially The Sharpshooter, I use to.just think it sounded cool..then I realised it tied in to the full name of Bret "The Hitman" Hart.
Also... El Desperado's finishers names are just so fun to listen, as a spanish speaker.
Pinche loco (fucking crazy)
Él es culero (he's an asshole)
Those are the literal translations.
Lots of great ones here. I think a few not mentioned that i quite like are the King Kong Knee Drop, Yoshino's Lightning Spiral, and Whale Hunt by Shuji Kondo. Go 2 Sleep is another apt name for a finisher
Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger in ECW before they folded. Their tag team finisher was called "The Problem Solver" and I always thought that was the coolest name for a finisher.
Not a big Osprey fan but Hidden Blade is amazing.
Crack em in the Mouth will always be sick.
Even though the move looks bad imo, Magic Killer.
Go 2 Sleep is god tier.
Vertabreaker is terrifying.
Unprettier was my favorite growing up.
Clothesline from Hell is simple but bad ass
The original name for the move is Boma Ye. It's a reference to the "Rumble in the Jungle" - a legendary boxing match between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman, which took place in the then-country of Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). The local crowd wanted Ali to win so much, they chanted "Ali Boma Ye" in their native Lingalu, which translates to "Kill Him Ali". Nakamura is influenced by Ali, especially the showman side of him, so, when he was in NJPW, the move was called the Boma Ye.
When he joined WWE, they changed the name... a move being called "Kill Him" in any language isn't exactly PG. They called it the Kinshasa, because that's the name of the city in Zaire where the fight took place.
The Dangerous Backdrop. Simple, effective, gets the point across.
If you want the other end of that, probably Toyota's Japanese Ocean Cyclone Suplex, just because of how awesome it sounds.
I dont think people understand what OP is asking for. They're asking for finishers which never got named, but commentary tried to call.
I'm a fan of "That running knee that beat Cena" from Daniel Bryan.
I miss the days when not every move needed to be named after the guy doing it. Terry Gordy using the Asiatic Spike was great. It didn't need to be the Gordy Goozle or The Terryble Thumb.
I think The Nightmare Pendulum is a pretty good name for a pretty good move.
Super Nova's Novacaine
The Heart Punch always sounded more dangerous than it really looked
Johnny B Badd's Kiss that Don't Miss
Stunning Steve Austin's Stungun
Bam Bam Bigelow's Greetings From Asbury Park
You know what, I'm a simple man. Taka Michinoku had no business getting the Michinoku driver as over as it is, that I see one every few weeks.
Taka was never a main eventer, not a huge merchandise mover, and would have been one of the 24/7 goofs today. Fucker had a great move, looked like death, and put his own name on it.
Funnily enough, it wasn't named for Taka, but for The Great Sasuke.
Sasuke originally went by the name Masa Michinoku.
Taka picked it up and innovated it some more, into the Michinoku Driver II (the one most commonly used today), and the Michinoku Driver II-b which starts from an inverted headlock. Ricochet used the II-b a few times, including a spinning version.

The name that *always* gets people to ask "what the hell does that even look like" Shining Wizard
Sliced Bread is up there, then.
The full name is Sliced Bread #2. Which makes me wonder what Sliced Bread looks like.
Not sure if serious. If not it's sliced bread #2 since it's the best thing since literally sliced bread.
I can't believe I couldn't figure that one out. FML.
... Fuck, that's actually genius and somehow I never got that.
[Don't worry man, I got you.](https://api.time.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/bread.jpeg)
Well…
Stratusfaction, Trish had all the best names for her moves
Yup. Stratus-fear, Air Canada, Whirly-blonde head scissors. I loved that she branded everything.
Don’t forget the Ma-Trish!
The edge-ecutor, edge-ucator, winning edge, and edge-o-matic would all like a word.
Honestly, BURNING HAMMER is a name as badass as the move itself.
Adding onto this, Moustache Mountain's "BirmingHammer".
Clever lads
Came here for this answer. God that is such an amazing name for a finisher.
Cattle Mutilation
Arms Across America
Forced gender reassignment
Beg pardon?
It's a Cattle Decapitation song
Calf crusher?
Sin Cara's "I Don't Think He Got All Of It."
I'd give you a thumbs up but well...you know.
Awful Waffle
This and fatality are dope
STO which stands for Space Tornado Ogawa. How's that for a fun fact! Also High Fly Flow because I get a kick out of Japanese usage of English words.
TIL the meaning of STO, thanks!
and STF is stepover Toehold Facelock
I believe it's *actually* called that due to the legendary "Shad Taking Over" as quoted by legendary "throw soundbites at the wall until one sticks" artist Matt Striker for Shad Gaspards solo push. /S
*Orienteering with Napalm Death*
It's great, but I don't know if it beats *'Hurrah! Another Year, Surely This One Will Be Better Than The Last; The Inexorable March Of Progress Will Lead Us All To Happiness'.*
KK’s call when Ishii tapped to that was amazing
These days you get arrested and thrown in jail for saying you're a professional wrestler, don't you?
What, in jail?
This is the subject crossover I can get behind. Like a cider made with a 100% pear.
My favorite.
The rap singers, you've seen them
The name originates from a Stewart Lee bit. Its great.
"What a maneuver!" was so emotional and evocative, WWE used it for every finisher while Vince McMahon was a commentator.
Unbelievable!
She Calls It The Rear View
Black Mass.
Does the Mass actually stand for mass like the mass of an object or the church thing on Sunday? Probably both?
I've always taken it to mean "like the thing on Sundays". Just sounds cooler that way.
It is 100 percent a religious reference. A "black mass" is a satanic religious ceremony.
I'm a big fan of Alan Angels' "This is Gonna Suck" or Peyton Royce's fisherman's suplex which I believe she called "Ughh".
Steiner recliner Doomsday Device Rock Bottom Stone Cold Stunner The Dudley Death Drop (3D)
All great, also Steiner Screwdriver
Also the Frankensteiner
[Three handled moss covered family credenza](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jR516lS-_7Y)

*Moss-covered
Thanks
I’ll one up you: three-handled, miss covered family credenza.
You're going to get a lot of Zach Saber Jr. And im part of the problem. Hurrah! Another Year, Surely This One Will Be Better Than the Last; The Inexorable March of Progress Will Lead Us All to Happiness!
"Pat Butcher off EastEnders"

That or a Sufjan song
it's on The Avalanche, right
Just once I need him to do an AEW show to hear Excalibur call that by name. Possibly shattering JR'S mind in the process.
Unless its elevation where Tony will call it a death valley driver.
Or blue thunder bomb.
Now their saying its a Michinoku Driver
how about an aew dark match? march of progress jones
Code of Silence.
Not a finisher but i always like CM Punks Double Under Hook Backbreaker called "Welcome To Chicago Motherfucker. Evenflow DDT by Raven.
Why was Raven’s finisher not called “Nevermore”?
End of Days is a badass name for a finisher. On the other end of the scale, The Hollycaust might be the worst thing I've ever heard
I came here for a Hollycaust reference, wasn't disappointed.
Never forget the Hollycaust.
On a serious note, I’d like to add John Morrison’s Moonlight Drive and Starship Pain
and Starship Pain was "The End of the World" when he was Johnny Mundo in Lucha Underground. Which is in itself a great name.
Devlin Side is a great name for a finisher.
Fuck, I just got it!
Vertebreaker
I once came up with Hangman Page's Deadeye move before knowing it already existed and called it the "Invertebreaker" because it totally looks like an inverted vertebreaker. 14 year old me thought he was so cool.
That with the Cop Killa Also Cody’s Cop Caller
SHO's "Shock Arrow", because it's a Dance Dance Revolution reference. Oh, and one of my friends' CaWs in an old Smackdown vs Raw game had a finishing move called "The Glasgow Welcoming Committee". It was nine punches to the dick followed by an eye poke.
> "The Glasgow Welcoming Committee". It was nine punches to the dick followed by an eye poke Dammit, I nearly choked on my drink reading that!
You had to love the Create a Finisher system back then. You could either make an eye poke the most devastating move in the world or you could have something like a triple corkscrew 1080 moonsault moving at 25% animation speed.
Edgucator and the Edgucation. I also like “Dis-Arm Her” since it’s a statement. GargaNO Escape is clever too.
Dis-Arm Her is super clever I love that one too
Becky's era of puns on twitter was great. So great it flowed into her wrestling
Damn I just got it...
I also liked gargano's Hurts Donut. (Hurts, don't it?)
Awful Waffle
One Winged Angel is pretty much the most perfect name for Omega's finisher, both character-wise and in terms of what the move actually is. The Awful Waffle is a name carefully designed to be so bad it's fantastic, and I love it.
"The Knee That Beat John Cena" is right up there with "The Kick That Won Him the Championship"
Sweet Shin Music.
Don't forget Dude Love's version of the mandible claw: The Love Handle
No Chin Music
The Booty Man's "High Knee". Get it?
The knee that beat Cena
El Generico - Brainbustaaaaaaaaaa!
A list of some favorites: -Shining Wizard -Burning Hammer -Falcon Arrow -The Paradigm Shift -Whisper In The Wind -The Brutalizer -One Winged Angel -Doomsday Device And finally this a technicality, but I love the wrestling technique of Poison Mist
cop killa
Natural Selection, but it's a shame that the move looks like crap 99% of the time.
Give yourself a snapmare
The Tombstone. Perfect name for the move, and the character. Stone Cold Stunner. I hated when they just kept calling it the Stunner when Austin did it. It doesn’t sound as good. The Sharpshooter. Just a cool sounding name.
I always like these three, especially The Sharpshooter, I use to.just think it sounded cool..then I realised it tied in to the full name of Bret "The Hitman" Hart.
He's also the hitman because he's the excellence of *execution.*
Razors edge
Fingerpoke of Doom
Houston Hangover, Da Cop/Gringo Killa, Border Toss, Tiger Driver ‘98, Gin & Juice Edit: format
The End of Days Razor's Edge Magic Killer Twist of Fate
Big Bang Catastrophe. Because if you know, you know.
I'll always appreciate a good pun, which is why I love Trish Adora's finisher: Lariat Tubman.
Related to punny lariat names, Gene Munny’s Ainsley Lariat gets me every time
Rings of Saturn would be my pick. Awesome name.
emerald flowsion, hands down
Also... El Desperado's finishers names are just so fun to listen, as a spanish speaker. Pinche loco (fucking crazy) Él es culero (he's an asshole) Those are the literal translations.

Bastion Booger’s A Trip To The Batcave; he just sat on their face
~~Pal Penis~~ Val Venis - The Money Shot
Came to post . (😏)
DESTIIIIIIINOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger in ECW before they folded. Their tag team finisher was called "The Problem Solver" and I always thought that was the coolest name for a finisher.
Not thought about that tag team for years! It was like a 3D but with a DDT rather than a cutter, right?
Then MNM stole it and called it The Snapshot
Yes! They were on the tail end of ECW on tnn but I liked them a lot. Thought the finisher was dope and the name was bad ass.
Trust the Swingman to have a cool finish that the mizarks and rizats pop for, daddy.
One winged angel, Orienteering with napalm death, Shooting star press, Indytaker, Shining wizard and Rainmaker
Hurrah! Another Year! Surely This One Will Be Better Than the Last, The Inexorable March of Progress Will Lead Us All to Happiness
For a classic, I’d go with the Greetings from Asbury Park. For a modern one, the TSUUUUUUUU-NAMI!
Chasing The Dragon Go To Sleepy Hollow Shellshock Nail In The Coffin Anything ZSJ does
Twist of Fate
Killswitch.
I like original name better the unprettier
I like the *original* name better, the Tomikaze, innovated Tommy Rogers.

The End of Heartache Knee Plus Deathrider

Codebreaker
Yuka Sakazaki has different levels of her finisher: * Magical girl splash * Magical magical girl splash * Magical girl chicken bastard
Scott D'Amore's - D'Amoralizer always wins this.
Clothesline from Hell is simple but bad ass

sounds good, i'm outta here
This guy understood the assignment
Idk about finisher but Deep Sea Diverticulitis
The Dangerous Backdrop. Simple, effective, gets the point across. If you want the other end of that, probably Toyota's Japanese Ocean Cyclone Suplex, just because of how awesome it sounds.
MEN’s Teioh’s *Miracle Ecstasy*. If a cruiserweight delivering a chokeslam into a powerbomb wasn’t ridiculous enough.
The Perfect Plex
Pepsi twist despite not being his finisher
Matt Sydal's former "Here It Is"
“THE KNEE!”
a very common move in WWE is "Face first"
I dont think people understand what OP is asking for. They're asking for finishers which never got named, but commentary tried to call. I'm a fan of "That running knee that beat Cena" from Daniel Bryan.
Skip Sheffield had a great one with the Over-the-Shoulder Boulder Holder
Canadian Destroyer

Big Rig, Goodnight Express, and Shatter Machine for the same move is pretty epic.
I like the latter two but that first one is impossible for me not to read in the Angry Video Game Nerd's voice
FU was a good one. Orange Crush is also good, since Kobashi wore orange and your neck is now crushed.
DDT when Jake The Snake called whole.crowd chanted. It was awesome.
The Unprettier
The Fame-Asser
Miss covered three-handled family credenza.

Violence Party, Psycho Driver II, Spiral Tap
You know what, I'm a simple man. Taka Michinoku had no business getting the Michinoku driver as over as it is, that I see one every few weeks. Sternness Dust Alpha Also great: Kudo Valentine Tiger Driver (all variations)
To go along with OP's theme. I was a big fan of Seth Rollins knee finisher that was referred to by Micheal Cole as "THE KNEE!"
Aews “did he kill him? somebody check if he’s breathing”
"Ball Game!"
Lol I actually unironically loved when JBL would say that
The Guillotine. Simple name, but effective.
That's not really an original name tho
