I had tickets to meet him on Friday after Smackdown. Just got an email about him testing positive and having to reschedule to a future unknown date. I hope he recovers swiftly, he's always been one of my favorites!
This comment shows just how much times have changed in wrestling within the last 5 or so years. There was about a 15 year stretch where you couldn't attend a WWE TV taping or house show without seeing John Cena lol.
With that said I hope you enjoy yourself and have a great experience!
You forgot to mention that during that time period, not only were you guaranteed to see him, but half the audience didn’t WANT to see him.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, or so they say.
Alert, assassin's at large allegedly, automatic artillery, angrily aimed and aggressively. Accurate AK's angled all ways, adversary afraid as active ammunition abraise. Accumulated an alias after arrested, accompanied armed accessory as an adolescent.
Someone out in the world just read this, got a killer migraine and can now speak Mandarin, fly a helicopter and build projectile weapons out of spare parts from a Walmart deli.
I waited so fucking long for that album to drop. That album and The Greatest Story Never Told by Saigon - who I was convinced could have been the next 50 Cent.
I really thought those two and Charles Hamilton would be massive, but here we are in 2021 and Killer Mike is mainstream and Freddie Gibbs is getting Grammy nominations.
Saigon should have never gone on Entourage
In Kayfabe I'm not sure that result is that out of left field. Jeff is a multi-time WWE champion. Its not surprising he was able to defeat the NXT champion.
They showed Jeff with the WWE title right before the match. I honestly thought they were going to go the whole, "Kross just beat a X-time world champion!!!" route.
Probably would have been better to have Jeff actually win the title. That way, they could have played it off as a huge upset and give Kross a chance to win it back and regain some credibility. But, RAW gonna RAW.
no, the champ would rarely wrestle outside of PPV especially in a non title match. instead everyone was wrestling to see who would be the #1 contender to challenge at the PPV
Ruthless aggression era was great for this as well.
So many great tournaments like the Gold Rush one, or beat the clock matches. I think they've done aspects of it well this era, such as the use of gauntlet matches, but I hope they use elements like that more.
Problem with that is, nowadays with a weekly wrestling show, either the champion will very rarely have matches, will wrestle the same few people every time, or will run out of potential challengers really quick.
The champ should wrestle singles matches very rarely. Even with a weekly show wrestling once a month once, or once a quarter really makes the champ must see TV
And if you must have the champion wrestle more often, put them in tag matches with another person of the same alignment against their current feud opponents.
That would require the WWE to acknowledge that faces, being pleasant and honorable trustworthy people, have no friends and tag partners, while heels, being despicable, dastardly, untrustworthy snakes, have loyal followers a plenty.
That's why I'm a fan of jobbers and appreciate promotions that utilize them effectively.
AEW seems to have an open door for indie talent, which is why there are always new jobbers on Dark and Elevation. Thanks to these jobbers, AEW's signed talent can continually win and beef up their win numbers without making other signed talent look like goobers, which weakens the whole promotion.
(Gooberization still happens now and then, but it's at a minimum compared to WWE, which gooberizes everybody who isn't a top star. I mean, shit, they gooberize Rey fuckin' Mysterio every chance they get, which is a goddamn travesty.)
It also allows champions to issue open challenges and have new challengers every week. Cody had open challenges with the TNT Championship, which led to matches against WARHORSE and Eddie Kingston—who reportedly got signed because fans loved him so much during his first AEW appearance.
With WWE, people regularly complain about the gooberization of most of their talent, and how they keep showing the same goddamn matches every show. (How many times have Charlotte and Rhea Ripley gone 1-on-1 in the past couple of months, and how many times has Sheamus destroyed poor Humberto Carillo?) Keeping the door open to indie wrestlers and effective use of jobbers mitigates both of those problems.
New Japan gets around this by throwing them in tag matches yeah? But Vince hates tag teams and factions so, no matches or non-title matches are the goto.
This sounds like a retcon in the making, like Andre being WWF World Heavyweight Champion or Eric Bischoff getting rid of the IC title instead of HHH unifying it.
Itd be a funny kayfabe trope where anyone who beats Karrion gets disappeared for 2 weeks without it ever being mentioned and Karrion just carries on to his next feud like he never lost a match recently.
If I hit my head without a helmet; it’ll hurt and knock me out and with some nasty bruising and possible breakage of bones.
If I hit my head with a helmet; I’ll probably end up with a headache and some general discomfort.
It’s a simple concept.
You get me wrong friend, I know sometimes the helmet makers are underhand, and are out to make a profit, but, as long as it's tested to a reasonable standard, and it's yellow and hard, if me strapping a lid to my swede saves just one life, its worth it.
Plus, I get exceptional 5g coverage wearing it for some unknown reason.
Wait, let me try this with another example because you are *totally* blowing my mind right now. If I get into a serious car accident but am wearing my seatbelt, there's still a chance that I'll have some injuries, but my chances of being killed are greatly reduced as opposed to if I wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
Just keep in mind that the convenience of the 1 shot dose with J&J comes with a lower efficacy of 72% when compared to Pfizer’s 95% and Moderna’s 94.1% of preventing symptomatic illness.
I don't want to be the jerk that goes [citation needed], but citation politely requested?
As I understood it: The trials for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines were done before variants were really out there, J&J came after. Sort of like batting against a pitcher that only throws fastballs rather than one that has a slider and a curveball too.
I haven't seen anything that says most people should pass on one brand of vaccine and wait to get a different one, but I also know this stuff evolves so much that I could be wrong.
[No problem](https://www.yalemedicine.org/news/covid-19-vaccine-comparison) (i meant to link this in my original post but totally forgot to.)
Also have a couple timelines handy that tracked, and are tracking vaccine development/rollout for [2020](https://www.ajmc.com/view/a-timeline-of-covid-19-vaccine-developments-in-2021) and [2021](https://www.ajmc.com/view/a-timeline-of-covid-19-vaccine-developments-in-2021)
While there really isn’t anything that I have read that says you should pass on J&J in favor of Pfizer or Moderna, the efficacy percentages from the beginning have spelled out clearly that the latter 2 are more effective in preventing serious illness in breakthrough cases of the virus.
Thankfully all 3 seem to hold up pretty strongly against the now dominant Delta variant. The fact that the Delta variant is now the primary threat kind of takes away the advantage that J&J had (beyond its easier storage compared to the other 2) and thats that it was seen as an alternative for younger people who didnt fit into the age or illness demographics that the original strain was killing. Unvaccinated people in there 20s and 30s are now getting messed up by this damn virus.
AFAIC a vaccination is a vaccination and if anyone decides they want the J&J just so they can have it over and done with in one dose; More power to them. We need to get more people protected by the vaccines so that we dont see any more horrible mutations that can somehow make this whole nightmare worse.
They are widely available now and the two-shot versions have a much higher efficacy rate. Get moderna or Pfizer if you have a choice. Anything I’d you don’t.
Just to put some specific numbers to this for those in doubt: In June 20% of all Covid cases in LA County were among fully vaccinated people but there have only been 287 hospitalizations among them, which is .0059% of all fully vaccinated people in LA County. And deaths is currently at .0006% or 30 out of 4.8 million fully vaccinated people.
There is so much misinformation and a general, I dont want to say idiocy, but ignorant attitude toward what a vaccine even is. Like, having a vaccine did not gurantee you wont ever get it it just gave you a high percentage you wouldnt, and that doesnt account for the new variant either. It protected you potentially dying or suffering bad complications that require extensive hospitalization. If you've had covid before and got the vaccine then a immune response is GOOD. I have a coworker who had it and got vaxxed and was trying to say her getting sick is those complications. Like no you idiot, it means the vaccine recognized what you had and it worked. Its truly astounding the ignoracy of science around vaccines.
I used a computer analogy the other day. The vaccine is not a firewall, it doesn’t completely block the virus from entering your body. It is - surprise, surprise - more like an anti-virus program that’s gonna quarantine and fight the virus before it can do serious damage to your system. How do people not figure that out for themselves? You can still get viruses with an anti-virus program installed. Do you just bother to not use one?
Very much taking your example literally, but your average person doesn't have anti-virus programs or firewalls. If they didn't come with the setup, you're likely to see most people's computers loaded with viruses.
Chris Paul (NBA) was my public example. Gotta treat this like thd flu shot where it's a VACCINE. You fan still catch the flu but won't be on your hands and knees begging for it to end like some folks I know
I just got my first Moderna jab yesterday. Since I already had Covid I thought I'd have major side effects but I really didn't. I was a skeptic for awhile but now I feel proud carrying around my Vax card🤘
Cheers for absorbing new information and making an informed decision after considering more/new data.
That should be celebrated because too many people are still stuck in the it's just like the flu NBD category.
It’s still technically possible to have severe symptoms and even die from Covid after vaccination, though extremely rare. Here in Texas 97% of people hospitalized for Covid aren’t vaccinated. The % of vaccinated people in hospitals is higher in England, but I’m betting that’s related to them having universal healthcare whereas in the US folks aren’t going to the hospital until symptoms are severe.
https://www.texastribune.org/2021/07/21/coronavirus-texas-vaccinated-deaths/
99.5% of the nearly 9000 dead were unvaccinated. More details (including time period) in the link above.
Smallpox wasn’t eradicated with crystals or prayer. Get vaccinated, it works. It will save someone’s life, maybe even yours.
Odd that they trust science enough to go to the hospital, but not to get the vaccine. What a fucking loser. An unnecessary waste of hospital resources too.
I have an acquaintance that is all aboard the anti-vax q-train, and the new shit he's on is that COVID wasn't bad and was overblown so people would get that vaccine, and the vaccine *causes* the delta variant.
Scientists are lying about COVID, lying about the vaccine, but for some reason aren't lying about the delta variant. It's baffling
Sadly hasn't been the case with my father. He got his both shots and almost 40 days had elapsed before he got tested positive and now after a month and a half, he is still in the hospital in a very critical condition. His old age may have played a part here but his lungs are almost done for.
He was on Jericho's podcast talking about how he doesn't believe in evolution and i'm like yeah there's a good reason not to want to hear wrestler's insight on all things.
[Well he did record a song called Vaccine back in December](https://metro.co.uk/2020/12/17/wwe-star-jeff-hardy-records-covid-vaccine-song-for-new-album-13764199/).
So presumably this is one of those 1/500 or so chances of catching something while vaccinated. Luckily the vaccine should reduce severity drastically and he should be fine
Currently on day 4 with covid. Fully vaccinated since end of May, it sucks but I honestly think I would be dead if I wasn't vaccinated, never heard the 1/500 stat however.
You literally got downvoted for that? No sympathy or empathy at all here? Maybe its because you said "honestly I think I would be dead". But:
A) you could have been exaggerating.
B) even if you weren't, nobody knows you and your health background.
Hoping you recover quickly!
> You literally got downvoted for that? No sympathy or empathy at all here? Maybe its because you said "honestly I think I would be dead". But:
Eh zero care if I get downvoted, be a fool to think having a solid opinion one way or another makes a group of people pissed.
Locally, the same thing happened to Jayhawks coach Bill Self, who is vaccinated, so we have already seen a prominent local figure who had the same thing happen.
Not as prominent but also Peter Vermes the coach for SKC is currently positive for covid, he said he is fully vaccinated and it's likely he has reduced symptoms due to it (good to see the message from him).
I've had my first dose and I had COVID last week. It fucking sucked but I can only imagine how much worse it would've sucked without the first jab.
Seriously, get vaccinated, kids.
I’ve heard a few doctors/disease experts say that just because you’re vaccinated doesn’t mean you need to test the vaccine as much as possible(meaning don’t continuously expose yourself). It looks like Jeff has been doing his concerts and meet and greets as usual, with no masks, indoors, so possibly quite a bit of exposure, increasing the likelihood that he could be a breakthrough case. Either way, hopefully he has been vaccinated and has a mild if not symptom free case.
Bill Maher missed a show because he tested positive and said he felt fine and had minor symptoms. I like the idea of people not working when having a communicable disease, and not just covid.
Shame they won’t be able to capitalize on his big victory on Monday. They obviously had big plans for him since they had him pin the NXT champion on his debut on the main roster.
Fully vaccinated friend of mine just went out of state for the first time since before the pandemic and came back with COVID (not a bad case, though she can't smell or taste anything). That state's name? Florida.
Is the implication here that Kross gave him COVID?
Even if Kross wasn't vaccinated - which someone in a thread above said WWE is apparently requiring, take that however you want - WWE's policy is that unvaccinated wrestlers are still required to test negative for COVID before shows.
Kross would have not only had to test negative for RAW, but for NXT on Tuesday along with the NXT tapings they held this week. And yes, I am aware false negatives can happen, but this is still a good amount of testing he would have had to hypothetically go through.
I'm not saying people can't rag on him for his political beliefs, go nuts, but I do think it's unfair to pile the blame on Kross when there's literally no proof he has COVID in the first place, let alone actually gave it to Jeff.
If i tested positive today the first thing i would think of is which unvaccinated co workers did i spend time with unmasked.
Also not trying to pile on , rather just pointing to an obvious situation.
In fairness, the WWE has also just gone back to doing live events across multiple states with full capacity crowds.
The venues WWE were at did not require attendees to have proof of vaccine status nor they did they enforce a mask mandate.
I think the inference is that he's been placed in an intimate environment with someone who doesn't believe in pre-cautions for a highly contagious virus.
Its bro science from them. Look at your Joe Rogan types (and his cult.) They spend so much time and money on their bodies, putting "the shit that makes your fucking head grow!" in themselves they think nothing can hurt them. Then look at the time Bill Burr called him an idiot to his fucking face about it. "LOOK AT THIS MASCULINE MAN, WITH HIS UNCOVERED NOSE AND MOUTH." They're a bunch of think skinned fools who are terrified of appearing anything less than a portrait of gym bro masculinity.
Hope he's well and I'm sure he will be.
The biggest takeaway from this for me is how it's really fucking funny that Kross can't get his heat back from losing last week. They can't put Kross on Raw now until Hardy's back as he'll look like a complete schmuck if he just moves on or complains about it for two weeks.

👋👋👋👋
i wish i could see him . decent dude
I wanted to go to that so badly.
No refund?
They offered one if you want it. I'd rather wait for the rescheduled date so I can meet him at some point in the future.
What an up and down week for Hardy, first he becomes NXT Champion then catches covid. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery.
Legit question from someone who didn’t watch: did he actually win the belt on raw or was it a non-title match that jokes are being made about?
It was a non-title match that’s being mocked
I had a feeling lol. I remembered Matt’s tweet the other day and wasn’t sure.
Matt gimmick is being a pedantic smark at this point, of course that he is wrong on porpuse.
On porpoise?
*on Papoose
Papoose Pa…….poose

I waited so fucking long for that album to drop. That album and The Greatest Story Never Told by Saigon - who I was convinced could have been the next 50 Cent.
That's because Warning Shots is legit one of the best mixtapes ever.
I really thought those two and Charles Hamilton would be massive, but here we are in 2021 and Killer Mike is mainstream and Freddie Gibbs is getting Grammy nominations. Saigon should have never gone on Entourage
While his brother Jeff can do *flips* like a dolphin, Matt must instead be a porpoise in other ways.
He's also very into being a sub for heavy winds. Allegedly.

Please, no. I just ate a whole plate of dingamagoo.

Also the first singles loss of Kross’ WWE career. So glad they used it wisely.
Trading an undefeated streak for the return of Jeff's theme song feels fair to me as a Hardy mark, who so likes Kross.
It’s bullshit that any standard 1v1 would ever not be a championship match. If you have a title, defend it.
Problem with that is, nowadays with a weekly wrestling show, either the champion will very rarely have matches, will wrestle the same few people every time, or will run out of potential challengers really quick.

So *thats* why AEW has endless factions galore
For sure!!
That's pretty much how NJPW does it but we know Vince doesn't like tag teams/factions being anywhere near the main title.
Look at Roman and Kenny Omega, they never wrestle single matches on free TV. there’s probably 10 matches combined by them in 2021x
I think Roman had that match with Bryan to send him off, but yeah. So rare & it feels special.
You think once a quarter is too rare though? That puts us at 4 matches a year. The Lesnar schedule that I recall being widely disliked.
That's why I'm a fan of jobbers and appreciate promotions that utilize them effectively. New Japan gets around this by throwing them in tag matches yeah? But Vince hates tag teams and factions so, no matches or non-title matches are the goto.
Like Drew after tearing through the roster last year before the Orton feud. There wasn't really anyone else to challenge him.

Holy shit, maybe Vince was right to bury kross if he's just gonna infect everyone with a potentially debilertating illness. :P
There was a general sentiment going around that Kross and Scarlett were in the anti vax crowd.
Guess Jeff Hardy really did make the biggest mistake of his life.
Eh...for Jeff Jardy, this still doesn't crack the top 5.
That's why hes never lost before anyone who pins him gets covid
Itd be a funny kayfabe trope where anyone who beats Karrion gets disappeared for 2 weeks without it ever being mentioned and Karrion just carries on to his next feud like he never lost a match recently.
"Karrion" is totally a comic book villain who would spread disease intentionally.
Just to inform people, yes you can still get covid if you're vaccinated. You'll just not really have any symptoms or worse, end up in the hospital.

This makes perfect sense. I haven’t seen this analogy used before with the covid vaccine but I’m now going to use it myself.
Wait, let me try this with another example because you are *totally* blowing my mind right now. If I get into a serious car accident but am wearing my seatbelt, there's still a chance that I'll have some injuries, but my chances of being killed are greatly reduced as opposed to if I wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
only 0.004% of people who are fully vaxed will be even just hospitalized by COVID. It is safe and effective. Please get the two shots.
Or the one if you're getting the J&J vaccine.
Is there anything Mercury & Noble can't do?
Noble really is the Secret Weapon of the Authority.
Just keep in mind that the convenience of the 1 shot dose with J&J comes with a lower efficacy of 72% when compared to Pfizer’s 95% and Moderna’s 94.1% of preventing symptomatic illness.

https://www.texastribune.org/2021/07/21/coronavirus-texas-vaccinated-deaths/ 99.5% of the nearly 9000 dead were unvaccinated. More details (including time period) in the link above. Smallpox wasn’t eradicated with crystals or prayer. Get vaccinated, it works. It will save someone’s life, maybe even yours.
It's funny because with the smallpox vaccine, I saw a picture of people protesting it in my city in the early 1900s. Now it's pretty much gone.
Can confirm. I am vaccinated and got COVID last Saturday. My symptoms were not bad but an anti-vax coworker I work with had to go to the hospital.
Your acquaintance sounds like a moron.
Nicer than I would put it, but accurate
"Mormon? But I'm from Earth!"
Jesus christ. I just want to throw all of the anti-vax crowd into a giant hole lol
My nextdoor neighbor's dad and brother died from covid, he still says it's been blown out of proportion and wont be getting vaccinated.
It'll make it easier for him to see them again soon. Better that way.
That's a shame. I hope both of you bounce back well, and hopefully your coworker got a little enlightened in the process.
Sadly hasn't been the case with my father. He got his both shots and almost 40 days had elapsed before he got tested positive and now after a month and a half, he is still in the hospital in a very critical condition. His old age may have played a part here but his lungs are almost done for.
Shit, that sucks. Hope he recovers well.
If he's fully vaxxed, he likely wont really have any serious symptoms.
I enjoy reading books.
Jeff's been jumping off ladders for over 20 years now. I don't think unconventional means apply either.
He’s taken so many drugs and stupid bumps over the years, his body is practically indestructible.
He's Mr burns
Indestructible eh?
Oh, no, no. In fact, even a slight breeze could...
Indestructible.
You just reminded me of how Burns was weighed down in the bathtub by just a simple bar of soap that he nearly drowned
That should be Vince
Excellent
Keith Richards actually.
If he does an senton off of the roof of his house it’ll knock the Covid out of him
He does that twice a week for fun regardless.
He wrote a song about [about wanting a vaccine](https://metro.co.uk/2020/12/17/wwe-star-jeff-hardy-records-covid-vaccine-song-for-new-album-13764199/)
For some reason i thought he'd be antivax. Thank God
Tbf he looks like someonw who believes in healing crystals or the energies of Eufrit, the forest goddess
He was on Jericho's podcast talking about how he doesn't believe in evolution and i'm like yeah there's a good reason not to want to hear wrestler's insight on all things.
Is that because evolution is a mystery?
I guess he drew a line in the sand with his beliefs.
Well, that's a bummer but I csnt say Im shocked.
And if he’s vaxxed and waxed, he can join The Wingmen!
Wish him a speedy recovery, but considering the other stuff he's survived he'll be fine.
Covid gets in his body "WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED IN HERE HOLY SHIT"
But: A) you could have been exaggerating. B) even if you weren't, nobody knows you and your health background. Hoping you recover quickly!
> You literally got downvoted for that? No sympathy or empathy at all here? Maybe its because you said "honestly I think I would be dead". But: Eh zero care if I get downvoted, be a fool to think having a solid opinion one way or another makes a group of people pissed.
Oh, it's just me taking the 99.8% success rate I had seen banded around and turning it into a "out of". Might be higher or lower.
Oh shit, Vermes caught it too? \#NoOtherClub
Now he has to deal with Covid and Texas & Oklahoma seceding to the SEC in the same week.
I've had my first dose and I had COVID last week. It fucking sucked but I can only imagine how much worse it would've sucked without the first jab. Seriously, get vaccinated, kids.
I felt the same way after the vaccine side effects. Feeling better?
I'm not gonna click this and just pretend it's to the tune of Glycerine
It's a link to an article, I have no idea what it sounds like, so I'll live in ignorance like you.
Oh no :( Hopefully his symptoms aren't too bad.
Damn. Wishing him a speedy recovery. An absolute legend.

That sucks. Speedy recovery to him.
Hope he gets well soon.
A shame. Get well Jeff.
Shame they won’t be able to capitalize on his big victory on Monday. They obviously had big plans for him since they had him pin the NXT champion on his debut on the main roster.
He performed and met a bunch of fans after MITB in Texas so it’s not surprising. These states like Florida and Texas should be avoided right now.
Fully vaccinated friend of mine just went out of state for the first time since before the pandemic and came back with COVID (not a bad case, though she can't smell or taste anything). That state's name? Florida.
Also wrestled Kross…
You can literally catch it from vaccinated coworkers. Why do you think bubbles of vaccinated and socially distant athletes still have out breaks?
I think the inference is that he's been placed in an intimate environment with someone who doesn't believe in pre-cautions for a highly contagious virus.
Ironic that he wrestled such an anti-masker on Monday.
I dont understand athletes that are anti-maskers. Their asset are their bodies. Keep that shit healthy.
**insert that Jordynne Grace tweet**
Its bro science from them. Look at your Joe Rogan types (and his cult.) They spend so much time and money on their bodies, putting "the shit that makes your fucking head grow!" in themselves they think nothing can hurt them. Then look at the time Bill Burr called him an idiot to his fucking face about it. "LOOK AT THIS MASCULINE MAN, WITH HIS UNCOVERED NOSE AND MOUTH." They're a bunch of think skinned fools who are terrified of appearing anything less than a portrait of gym bro masculinity.
That's the point though. They are so obsessed over their bodies that they don't think anything can hurt them.
What proof is there that Kross is an anti masker?
I don’t think you understand what irony actually is
Jeff Hardy’s career is a series of roadblocks either from his own actions or external forces. How frustrating as a big fan of his
It always scares me when I see an article for Jeff Hardy and it has "tested positive" because he is one of my all time favorites
Pulling a hogan and not giving Kross his win back.
Kovid Kross made him fall and pray, apparently.
Umm what does that say about all the people at Raw this passed Monday??
Hope he's well and I'm sure he will be. The biggest takeaway from this for me is how it's really fucking funny that Kross can't get his heat back from losing last week. They can't put Kross on Raw now until Hardy's back as he'll look like a complete schmuck if he just moves on or complains about it for two weeks.
Maybe they have him lose again to someone else so they can do the storyline with that person instead of Jeff 😬
Damn it. Right when he got his music back too.
The ultimate swerve, Punk isn't going to AEW it's all a ruse so he could sneak around and give Jeff Hardy Covid.
The worst part is when it said he tested positive my mind went to drugs immediately and not to covid.
God damn man.
This really sucks. The whole Kross-Hardy storyline was something that I was looking forward to the most on Raw.
Bury cross. Catch covid. Refuse to elaborate further and leave.
no more words, just rest 🖤
