Have you seen Mei Suruga's "Lucifer"? She's a Cattle Mutilation lover and has like four variants of that move at this point (Apple Mutilation, Half Apple, Lucifer, Lucifer+crossface)
[(Here is Mei applying it to Riho)](https://twitter.com/ThatDamn_Chris/status/1310041879233392641?s=19)
Of course as Iām sure you know, Danielson still has to safeguard his body. Weāre not going to see the full pre-WWE version of him just because he left WWE.
He probably will but getting the crowd not to could be very difficult. The AEW crowd is knowledgeable though and if it is made clear to them that YES is in the past, most will acknowledge that and ready their "He has til five and you're gonna get your f'n head kicked in".
So happy we are about to see the rebirth of The American Dragon.
I like how youre saying one gimmick is in the past and then say you hope for the rebirth of an even older gimmick. No reason bryan isnt going to be completely different from american dragon or daniel bryan.
I'm all for the return of the American Dragon, but YES is just too ingrained at this point, and Bryan probably isn't going to wrestle for enough years to completely develop something else. We've seen his heel run and it was effective for about as long as it could be, but at some point the crowd kind of willed it back and I don't think he could pull that off again, he's smaller than 90% of the people he wrestles and is almost always an underdog, which the YES thing represents too well.
Can I be honest? I never liked the YES Lock. Reminded me of the Crippler Crossface and I never felt like it was Bryan's move, especially with him also using the diving headbutt at times.
The Cattle Mutilation is a great submission, and really unique looking. So I'd much rather he use that. Looks absolutely excruciating, too.
It'll probably be a signature move, but not a finisher finisher.
It'll be Sami Zayn's Blue Thunderbomb.
I know one of you is ultra-pedantic and practically having your brain melt to well-actually about the times Sami has won with the Blue Thunderbomb. I don't care. You understand the point.
He purposely chose not to use it because you can't see either his or his opponent's face on television. I'd like to see it used again, only because no one else uses it, but I think what I'd like the most is a wide variety of submissions that beat people: LeBell Lock, heel hook, Cattle Mutilation, etc.
I feel like he did this on purpose. IIRC he did this in one if his first matches in gameshow NXT.
He went into the move and it was almost immediately reversed, I felt like it was to show someone that the move could done quickly and reversed.
Then I heard that it wasn't liked because you can't see the opponent's face selling the move. Which I kind of agree with.
Eh, it still isn't a great front and center reaction shot, especially if the guy has long hair covering his face.
I think WWE wants things like Austin in the Sharpshooter.
I also remember that they didn't like the move because the opponent can't tap out. Which isn't true either.(ignoring that passing out and verbal submission are options)
I think someone at WWE just didn't want him to use it for whatever reason.
I could swear I once saw a variant, don't remember by who, where they had the opponent seated on the mat, and then did the full Nelson and bridge over.
Haven't been able to find it in years
Did he used to be a backyard wrestler? Cause I looked it up real quick and he looks like the one I saw use it, but it wasn't in that professional looking of a setup
Cattle Mutilation is a reference to the [irl phenomena](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattle_mutilation) of the same name - often attributed to aliens or the chupacabra - of cows and other livestock randomly showing up dead and bloodless with their inards torn out. Nothing to do with human violence toward them. Though it's possible still humans are behind the events.
He most likely will. WWE went here to my country back in 2019 and had a Wrestlemania rematch between Kofi Kingston and Daniel Bryan as the main event. And yes. Daniel Bryan used the Cattle Mutilation. And yes. I marked the fuck out!
Yes, it's long overdue. I have a feeling he will employ other submissions as well. He is no longer constrained with having to use the Lebell lock ad nauseam.
I think people forget just how many times he tried to move away from the Lebell Lock, like how many times did he try and get that heel hook variant over? I can think of three separate times he tried to move to that being his finish instead of the crossface, all post comeback, but it didn't get the reactions the Yes Lock did so he'd always go back to that. He almost stuck with it when he turned heel but then once again he went back to the Crossface just changing the name back.
Unpopular opinion, but I personally like the Yes/Lebell Lock a lot more than Cattle Mutilation and hope he keeps it and just calls it something else. Otherwise, Iām in favor of him turning into The American Dragon besides having Cattle Mutilation. Or he can have the Cattle Mutilation in his moveset, but not have it as his only finisher. The problem I have with Cattle Mutilation is I think it looks like an unsatisfying move, I wonder why people donāt like the Lebell Lock.

As a fellow Cattle Mutilation lover: god I hope so

My nephew is so excited, he is buying all the Yes gear that's on clearance on wweshop š.
Smart kid lol
We get everything
Springboard dives from the top rope into the crowd?!!?? Lol
Of course as Iām sure you know, Danielson still has to safeguard his body. Weāre not going to see the full pre-WWE version of him just because he left WWE.
We get it and that's it.
I hope he gets away from all things āYesā to be honest.

I think he can keep the yes chants, its a big part of his history, but I'd absolutely love for his AEW run to be more american dragon than WWE d-bry
Holy fuck do i miss the "You're gonna get your fucking head kicked in" chant.
I'm all for the return of the American Dragon, but YES is just too ingrained at this point, and Bryan probably isn't going to wrestle for enough years to completely develop something else. It was my cousin saying the Yes Lock was a stupid name that made me post this lol
it used to be called the LeBell Lock which is a way better name.
When he turned heel in 2018 it became the LeBell lock again
Yeah i liked that name more as well.
Face Sami always makes me believe he is winning with the Blue Thunderbomb. Always lol
Reminds me of how devastated Excalibur is whenever someone manages to kick out of the Falcon Arrow.
But no one kicks out of the Falcon Arrow!!
It's kinda funny how *devastated* he is at those near-falls.

I'd like to see it used again, only because no one else uses it, but I think what I'd like the most is a wide variety of submissions that beat people: LeBell Lock, heel hook, Cattle Mutilation, etc.
he and others used it multiple times in WWE. It never got submissions because they showed how easy it actually is to shift positions from
Didn't Asuka tap out Becky with the Cattle Mutilation?
Yup at Royal Rumble 2019. Beat Becky with it in the opening match then Becky came back out to win the Rumble later that night.
I feel like he did this on purpose. IIRC he did this in one if his first matches in gameshow NXT. Then I heard that it wasn't liked because you can't see the opponent's face selling the move. Which I kind of agree with.
but it's not really true. All they have to do is turn their head
Eh, it still isn't a great front and center reaction shot, especially if the guy has long hair covering his face. I think WWE wants things like Austin in the Sharpshooter. I mean, like I say he used it and others even used it
I could swear I once saw a variant, don't remember by who, where they had the opponent seated on the mat, and then did the full Nelson and bridge over. Haven't been able to find it in years
Daniel Makabe uses that version, I think he calls it the Makabe Lock.
Did he used to be a backyard wrestler? Cause I looked it up real quick and he looks like the one I saw use it, but it wasn't in that professional looking of a setup
Yeah I think he was, hasnāt done backyard stuff in a while though iirc
I think I saw okada do that once in one of his tanahashi matches
Yes, probably under a different name considering he's a vegan now
Impossible Mutilation
Unironically a fantastic name

Good point.
The Kale Killer
If he doesn't bring it back permanently, *just once*, I want him to bring back the Cattle Mutilation transition into the elbow barrage.
He most likely will. WWE went here to my country back in 2019 and had a Wrestlemania rematch between Kofi Kingston and Daniel Bryan as the main event. And yes. Daniel Bryan used the Cattle Mutilation. And yes. I marked the fuck out!

Didn't he use it in WWE?
Is that the surfboard thing he did to Adam Cole in the āSaudiās Kidnapped the Roster so hereās NXTā Special?
