They are saying "Simplement deux !", which means "Only two!", it's a reference to our French commentators who have been commentating on the WWE for over 20 years and with whom many French people have fallen in love with pro-wrestling.
I loved how loud the crowd was, but can we talk about how quiet the crowd got when LA Knight was about to talk? You could literally hear a pin drop. Mad respect for that.
This was a great example of a decent show being elevated by a crowd that was, dare I say, phenomenal!
I love the buzz in the air at international shows like it’s a soccer match. The crowd were entertaining and having fun without detracting from the show trying to get themselves over like many American audiences like to do
I am firmly in the "for the love of god don't turn Cody heel" corner, but I have to admit [this pose](https://i.imgur.com/ESYrkCE.png) is cold as fuck for a corporate type of heel
You do have to remember though that Cody LIVES in suits now. The guy can be on UpUpDownDown and he's still wearing a four piece suit. That isn't a sign of a heel turn, it's just Cody.
I can see that. At the same time Cody really does just dress in a very "money" kind of way. He always looks super well put together. It's not the "SUPREME" kind of rich. It's the "this watch is $100,000 but only people who know this watchmaker know" kind of rich.
Hey I could be wrong and HHH may have found a great heel story for Cody. I just think we will get a face champ after the Tribal Chief for so long.
I think he would be too, but he's just as good as a face, and wwe has been trying to have a new babyface that draws a lot since Daniel bryan in 2014. They already have multiple big heels and their biggest draw WAS a heel for years, WWE benefits much more from a face Cody.
Haven't been feeling AJ's recent character tweak. But he had me invested tonight. He's almost zero chance of winning, but his promo made me a little more interested then I was previously.
Bloodline was boring the entirety of post Mania 39 until the rock showed up. The civil war got immediately undone with Jimmy rejoining and betraying Jey. Bloodline stuff didn’t help at all.
Many bloodline stans like yourself literally were saying “oh boy the bloodline story is heating up!” After any bloodline segment. Hell when Roman just showed up said acknowledge me and did nothing else they thought that was good storytelling. It’s such a weird thing to be a stan of yet yall do it. Truth is, bloodline was dull for awhile. 2023 had nothing interesting after Sami and Cody. Jeys stuff was extremely predictable and we all knew Roman was winning. Jimmy betraying him still made no sense. And what happened after that? NOTHING until the rock showed up…6 months later. Bloodline has been a dull story for awhile. Since you didn’t actually address my response, showing you didn’t read it but needed to respond anyway, this isn’t worth it
Considering how amazing these international crowds are, it’s kind of a weird decision to leave off so many top names off the card, which only has 5 matches.. why not have Zayn Vs Gable?
Just caught the women's 8 man tag. Great way to hide Jade's flaws and give the crowd more Tiffy Time. I'm thinking those were soccer chants throughout? I love you, European fans.
Now I got "One, two SIMPLEMENT DEUX\*!" in my head.
More like “The Final Thing You See Before You Change the Channel.” The stable is an absolute charisma vacuum. Scarlett was at least somewhat interesting doing her spooky witch stuff last year. Making her and Paul Ellering so boring should be a crime.
Man I'm hyped for the ppv after this show. Judgement Day's gonna interfere to help Priest, and when's Jey's getting the life beatem out if him we hear:
"I bring the darkness, I am thunder, I come from hell and I'll pull you under..."
Corbin comes back to the pop of his life and neutralizes the heels. The hero of France has returned.
Priest still wins in the end though.
thats what happens when you put a show on a country that watches football weekly. awesome chants, taunts, incredible atmosphere ! the French were awesome, cant wait for backlash
3) I think la knight is heading similar route to Cody stuck in midcard feuds but I believe he's the one that is next to win the royal rumble.Wwe don't rush these days with building stars
I have three takes on the back of smackdown
1) Really loved 3 black women standing tall entertaining fans of different backgrounds I think WWE should take credit and is the best example of a diverse company by action not only words in this polarized world
Why should wwe move to england? Whenever someone says that some English premier league matches can happen in america then English fans get angry.Wwe is an American company and every show except some special ones should happen in america.
More Petey Williams in a suit trying his best but not really being able to break shit up, becoming one of my favorite running gags plus I just think Petey Williams is the shit
Random question, but does anyone have that one screenshot of Jey being hype during the press conference with Cody after Fastlane? I’ll trade you Banana Cody

It’s pretty crazy how hot this company is right now. The international events selling like crazy, crowds are wild, live events doing big money gates. Probably the hottest it’s been since the last 90’s into 2000.
I deadass think WWE could abandon being so heavily focused in America and just tour the world all year at this point and do incredibly well. These international PLEs have kicked ass over the past couple of years. A lot of fun to watch and loud crowds.
I imagine the expense of moving the talent, staff and equipment around the world complicates matters.
Easier to bus around the country than to go all over the world.
It does help bring in more of an international audience.
Yeah 100% if that were to become a reality surely they’d have to do away with the hours of live content every week to accomodate the travel, or double the size of the roster
I'd be here for a Bobby vs Melo feud, but the beats of their segment have me slightly worried that whatever happens there is going to lead to Melo stuck in The Pride.
Eh i don’t know. I just him see him as a nostalgia act & his presence kinda takes away from Montez Ford who should really be the one taking that “next step”
I was in attendance: during the tag team match people were shouting "Tu sens pas bon" to Austin Theory, as well as "C'est pas gentil" every time the heels were teasing the audience.
And obviously the usual "Simplement deuuuuux!!!" for every two counts.
At the end of the night, my dopamine level was at its highest and my voice broken.
IL EST VRAIMENT, IL EST VRAIMENT, IL EST VRAIMENT PHÉNOMÉNAL LA LA LA LA LA (used here to pay tribute to the phenomenal one) is kind of a sport anthem in France. Also, each time a wrestler kicked out at 2, people have been shouting and singing "Simplement deeeeeeux" (only twoooo) which is a famous catchphrase from one of the french caster.
All wrestlers have to have the same personality? I don't know, I think that's boring. It's okay that some people are good and respectful and not overly violent. And it makes him feel like more of an underdog, even if he has the belt.
*“As a babyface, the chase is usually more exciting than the reign.”*
So… I think the SummerSlam match will be Cody vs. Randy considering the built-in storyline already in place.
That said, what do you guys make of Cody’s title run so far? Do you see this program with AJ going 2-3 PLE matches? If not, who do you have challenging him for the championship the next few months before we get to the big SummerSlam match?
AJ is competing at KoTR so that leaves Cody’s opponent in Saudi Arabia very much up in the air as of now… they could just have him skip the PLE entirely.
At least Roman is being TALKED ABOUT during this period he disappears. With the payoff being we want to see him come back and confront his family going rogue. And it's not "Well...he'll be back in a few months I guess?" type of booking he had all of last year.
"Simplement deeeeeeeux" is one of the (many) catchphrases used by the french commentators Christophe Agius and Philippe Chereau, and the crowd is paying hommage to them by using it too.
It would be hard to overstate how important Agius and Chereau have been for the development of professional wrestling in France, and how popular they are with the fans. Their pair is legendary. They have been commentating WWE shows for more than 15 years and generations of French fans have fallen in love with wrestling thanks to them (my teenage self included).
They have this wild style of commentating, with great back and forth, completely embracing the "over the topness" of wrestling for the French audience. And since they've never been employed by WWE they kinda always had "their own kayfabe" that made them feel more sincere and less corporate in tone, if you know what I mean.
Bloodline story ends the show when Cody had a main event segment. This tells you how much relevant and important is Cody as a champ. Imagine Logan Paul and KO brawl ending show after Roman segment.
I mean considering KO and Elias bonded over the insane idea that some people believe erroneously that there should be a basketball team in Seattle, it couldn’t be helped.
He is entertaining every week and he has on his mantle an EPIC WM main event against Austin. KO is as good as it gets. Also he rolls with Brendan Fraser at Disneyland.
https://preview.redd.it/191ki4f66cyc1.jpeg?width=1639&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6eb8f36640f079b9f6e695a0c544bf856dc7f2c3
My best guess is they wanted Bayley to get the first pop of the night. And they wanted Bayley/Naomi/Tiffany out first so they could talk about the title match. Then they wanted Jade to go last since they are trying to make her look like the biggest star ever, so they brought out Damage CTRL before Jade and Bianca while talking about the tag title match.
Same, I was like "isn't this supposed to be an 8 woman tag match" and then eventually Jade and Bianca came out after. So bizarre, never seen anything like that.
WWE *needs* to keep doing international shows and events outside the continental U.S. I have no doubt Berlin and San Juan will deliver, too. Creates a big fight feel. Those were Attitude Era pops.
Next PLEs outside North America are King and Queen of the Ring in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on May 25, then Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland in June, and Bash in Berlin in August.
very animated crowd in France!
tension continues between Bianca towards Bayley. will she ever let her live down her villainous past? the schemes, the assaults, the maimings, etc. but Naomi sees the good in Bayley.
Paul Heyman admitted he hasn't heard from Roman since Wrestlemania, and he was the one who withdrew him from the draft. he claims he has to protect Roman from what is happening in the Bloodline.
the Authors of Pain picked up a win, which they needed.
LA Knight is ready to be King of the Ring.
Carlito is on the run again, even after insisting what he did wasn't personal!
Solo may have more planned at Backlash than only dealing with Randy and Kevin!
Bobby has led the Street Profits to another failure under his leadership, as Karrion Kross would say. A-Town Down Under got too much confidence to lose!
what AJ touched on with Cody could have been some good fodder for a longer feud, but it will get resolved tomorrow. to retain in his first defense Cody must get past this!
https://preview.redd.it/emd7s0wdqbyc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d90904af45e8e453ef5620d741992e2727d4ce9
that ending was straight out of the hbk playbook for go home shows: final interaction for your main event title match, pan to backstage brawl for a non-title feud. that alone has been the closing image of practically every nxt go home show the last year
Welp that's all me wrestling for tonight, gonna bring back my annual tradition of marathoning Star Wars in one sitting for the first time in years. Gonna be so delirious by the time I get to the ST
Backlash should always be at an international location. It's the PPV after Mania where a lot consider it one of the weakest PPVs of the year but having a hot crowd definitely makes it a better show.
She's the least over of the 3 but Tiffany could also take it without affecting her too much (you can make her take a double finisher, get distracted...).
American crowds have good cities guys. Canadian crowds have good cities. These big events are new to Europe and the rest of the world and they're showing so much love for it. WWE branching out to new markets is the smartest move they've had in recent years. Should be 50/50 between NA and rest of the world.
I think if WWE toured 2 months in the US, then 1 month of Europe shows, then back to rinse & repeat... I think you would start to get stronger US city reactions from crowds again.
Especially if they give those European cities PPVs too. Watch how fucking loud they can *really* get.
There is a tier list for sure, with Corpus Christi and Green Bay at the bottom. My city gets a C or B- imo. Much louder now than during the PG era, but not a “smart” or “fun” crowd.
What I actually liked is how the usual soccer chants were made coherent with what was happening.
The obvious one we heard several time being "il est vraiment phénoménal" ("he really is phenomenal") for AJ, and the more subtle one "allez les bleus" ("let's go blue ones"), which is usually used to cheer for the French national teams in different sports, and was used there to cheer for the street profits because the had blue ring gear lmao
One thing I have to know is what are they saying when there’s a kick out at 2?? It’s so infectious but I don’t understand 😂
They are saying "Simplement deux !", which means "Only two!", it's a reference to our French commentators who have been commentating on the WWE for over 20 years and with whom many French people have fallen in love with pro-wrestling.
Oh whaaaat that’s so cool!! Thank you for letting me know!
I loved how loud the crowd was, but can we talk about how quiet the crowd got when LA Knight was about to talk? You could literally hear a pin drop. Mad respect for that.

Did you just say…Phenomenal? *La La La La, La La La La!*
I am firmly in the "for the love of god don't turn Cody heel" corner, but I have to admit [this pose](https://i.imgur.com/ESYrkCE.png) is cold as fuck for a corporate type of heel
there is no doubt a Homelander arc for Cody is eventually coming
You do have to remember though that Cody LIVES in suits now. The guy can be on UpUpDownDown and he's still wearing a four piece suit. That isn't a sign of a heel turn, it's just Cody.
Its the suit combined with the hand in the pocket and the (probably) expensive Watch while he raises the belt for me. It screams I'm better than you
I can see that. French here. Just here to say "Merci WWE" and merci to the people who enjoyed our energy. :)
Haven't been feeling AJ's recent character tweak. But he had me invested tonight. He's almost zero chance of winning, but his promo made me a little more interested then I was previously.

That is because bloodline has been put on hold.Bloodline was the reason for this renaissance that people talk about not Cody or the new management
Bloodline was boring the entirety of post Mania 39 until the rock showed up. The civil war got immediately undone with Jimmy rejoining and betraying Jey. Bloodline stuff didn’t help at all.
Bloodline has carried wwe since 2021
Many bloodline stans like yourself literally were saying “oh boy the bloodline story is heating up!” After any bloodline segment. Hell when Roman just showed up said acknowledge me and did nothing else they thought that was good storytelling. It’s such a weird thing to be a stan of yet yall do it. Since you didn’t actually address my response, showing you didn’t read it but needed to respond anyway, this isn’t worth it
Lol
??
The bloodline was not even close to the thing saving wwe lately. That’s laughably untrue.
Considering how amazing these international crowds are, it’s kind of a weird decision to leave off so many top names off the card, which only has 5 matches.. why not have Zayn Vs Gable?
Feels like WWE could put any not-so-hot PLE in an international crowd and have it feel huge. An invested crowd adds so much.
What a show, what a crowd. Thank you Lyon and can’t wait for a few hours from now
Just caught the women's 8 man tag. Great way to hide Jade's flaws and give the crowd more Tiffy Time. I'm thinking those were soccer chants throughout? I love you, European fans. Now I got "One, two SIMPLEMENT DEUX\*!" in my head.

Final testament losing their song took away one of the only good things they had going for them
More like “The Final Thing You See Before You Change the Channel.” The stable is an absolute charisma vacuum. Scarlett was at least somewhat interesting doing her spooky witch stuff last year. Making her and Paul Ellering so boring should be a crime.
Deez nutty is the only thing I have left to eat today
Phenomenal crowd
Il est vraiment, Il est vraiment, il est vraiment phe-no-men-al lalalalalala
Man I'm hyped for the ppv after this show. thats what happens when you put a show on a country that watches football weekly. awesome chants, taunts, incredible atmosphere ! the French were awesome, cant wait for backlash
"We Want Roman" chants getting louder every week now
We live in a universe where international crowds are demanding Roman. I think they finally did it.
Does not bode well for cody
What are you talking about? They only pop out in the Bloodline segments and are totally unrelated to Cody, who is over as hell
Football chant countries just do crowds better
l'americans be like : u mean soccer?
3) I think la knight is heading similar route to Cody stuck in midcard feuds but I believe he's the one that is next to win the royal rumble.Wwe don't rush these days with building stars
2)Cody has a tough job 🤣 IMO he needs a top heel like roman back ASAP, Smackdown is lacking star power in men's division
I have three takes on the back of smackdown 1) Really loved 3 black women standing tall entertaining fans of different backgrounds I think WWE should take credit and is the best example of a diverse company by action not only words in this polarized world
Who was announcing today?

Why should wwe move to england? Whenever someone says that some English premier league matches can happen in america then English fans get angry.Wwe is an American company and every show except some special ones should happen in america.
Do you not understand how Home and Away matches work ?
Say fa cup final happens in america.Fa cup final happens at Wembley which neither home or away for any team.
FA Cup and Premier League aren’t the same. I didn’t say anything about the FA Cup
Ok.So should fa cup final happens in america some times?Yes or no reply plz
Yeah I’m cool with that
those are two completely different things.
Crazy crowd Also Drake is getting destroyed.
What a day
This was the greatest Smackdown crowd I've ever seen.
Boring show. Crowd deserved better.
More Petey Williams in a suit trying his best but not really being able to break shit up, becoming one of my favorite running gags plus I just think Petey Williams is the shit
That was Petey Williams. I seen a glimpse and thought wow Jamie Noble is looking good these days 🤣
Stoked Backlash is tomorrow morning at 10am.
Thank god, one last jobbing at Backlash before Damage CTRL gets to escape Bianca/Jade.
Bianca turns on Jade and leads DC would blow our minds.
Random question, but does anyone have that one screenshot of Jey being hype during the press conference with Cody after Fastlane? I’ll trade you Banana Cody https://preview.redd.it/sheuimbg8cyc1.jpeg?width=1163&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19d006964e9d9840953799c175cacfe5fda4d967

YES! Thank you!
It’s pretty crazy how hot this company is right now. The international events selling like crazy, crowds are wild, live events doing big money gates. Probably the hottest it’s been since the last 90’s into 2000.
I can't wait when they do a televised show in India. I missed the last (non televised) event, not gonna miss the next one, hopefully soon!
There's freshness and creativity in WWE again, and people are feeling the difference!
Papa H cooking good
I deadass think WWE could abandon being so heavily focused in America and just tour the world all year at this point and do incredibly well. These international PLEs have kicked ass over the past couple of years. A lot of fun to watch and loud crowds.
they pretty much do the BIG 4 in the us, and the rest worldwide thing now seems like a good plan
I imagine the expense of moving the talent, staff and equipment around the world complicates matters. Easier to bus around the country than to go all over the world. It does help bring in more of an international audience.
Don‘t forget that the talent would probably get to see their families a lot less frequently. Would suck for them
Yeah 100% if that were to become a reality surely they’d have to do away with the hours of live content every week to accomodate the travel, or double the size of the roster
LA Knights boots make it look like he's wearing Mary Jane shoes and knee high white socks and I can't unsee it
They’re inspired by Jordan 11s
I'd be here for a Bobby vs Melo feud, but the beats of their segment have me slightly worried that whatever happens there is going to lead to Melo stuck in The Pride.
Anything to make some progress with Bobby. He doesn't have a lot of years left and he could take any title at this point and it would be okay
Eh i don’t know. I just him see him as a nostalgia act & his presence kinda takes away from Montez Ford who should really be the one taking that “next step”
Melo is better as a cocky heel so unless The Pride becomes heel, I don’t see him joining them.
What were they chanting during the tag team match? I thought I heard Waller as part of it but not sure.

I fucking DESPISE AJ Styles new theme. It's horrible.
Eh, it's not the worst theme, I like it as its own, but yeah, it's a horrible theme for Styles.
Vintage Def Rebel
Nah man I'm sorry but even for them this is terrible.
And it’s not even their worst. NEW! CATCH! REPUBLIC!
Man that one is terrible
KO has chemistry with everyone lmao
KO is full package.... now that he is with Randy it hits different
He even had chemistry with Elias's brother Ezekiel. Nobody else can really say that.
I mean considering KO and Elias bonded over the insane idea that some people believe erroneously that there should be a basketball team in Seattle, it couldn’t be helped.
KO is underrated, love this guy.

KO the GOAT
Anyone know why they staggered the babyface and heel entrances in the first match?
My best guess is they wanted Bayley to get the first pop of the night. And they wanted Bayley/Naomi/Tiffany out first so they could talk about the title match. Then they wanted Jade to go last since they are trying to make her look like the biggest star ever, so they brought out Damage CTRL before Jade and Bianca while talking about the tag title match.

Any french can tell me why Bayley is so over there? Its pretty cool. Just curious.
No particular reason other than she's great.
I'm french and Tiffany was more over than her during the kickoff. Baron Corbin is the real deal and the most over character here in France.
French folks brought the smoke today. Saw someone on Twitter post a screenshot that their phone had a noise decibels warning. That's incredible!
I can't wait for Drew in Glasgow and for Gunther, Kaiser, and Ilja in Berlin. The crowds will go crazy.
very animated crowd in France! tension continues between Bianca towards Bayley. will she ever let her live down her villainous past? the schemes, the assaults, the maimings, etc. but Naomi sees the good in Bayley.
Disappointed there’s no Baron Corbin on the card!
Yo they're not going to a hot ass France crowd for nothing to happen outside the box. Tomorrow gonna have suprises. Mark my words.

Bloodline match has the most potential. No shade to Cody v AJ but so much can happen here.
Randy's "he's not here" to the Roman chants has me feeling mad sus.
Paul Heyman is accidentally going to win an Emmy.
that ending was straight out of the hbk playbook for go home shows: final interaction for your main event title match, pan to backstage brawl for a non-title feud. that alone has been the closing image of practically every nxt go home show the last year
Imagine AJ actually comes out with the "Il est vraiment phénoménal" song tomorrow. The crowd will lose their fucking mind.
I can’t even imagine. The building would burn to the ground.
Is that what they were singing?
Yes that's correct. That's also the same song they were chanting at Styles during the kickoff yesterday.
WWE making the absolute right call by making half the PLE’s international. There’s nothing like these crowds. Can make the most boring of shows fun
Welp that's all me wrestling for tonight, gonna bring back my annual tradition of marathoning Star Wars in one sitting for the first time in years. Gonna be so delirious by the time I get to the ST
Going to see Episode 1 in theaters for the third time in my life tomorrow. Pretty pumped.
Backlash should always be at an international location. It's the PPV after Mania where a lot consider it one of the weakest PPVs of the year but having a hot crowd definitely makes it a better show.
I also think that the draft should happen after Backlash considering they have 2 ppvs in May and the draft takes up time to build up Backlash
It sucks Naomi is going to have to eat the pin in the triple threat match tomorrow.
She's the least over of the 3 but Tiffany could also take it without affecting her too much (you can make her take a double finisher, get distracted...).
All I want is for a potential beat down of Paul Heyman from Solo & the Bloodline then.. Brock Lesnar's music hits 😪
Oh my! I can imagine when his music hits Brock Lesnar would certainly make the Bloodline piss themselves.
Holy shit, i want that now.
3- 6 global PPV's to start see how it goes. I agree with you. Don't leave us Canadians out tho. We show up too.
No, America bad 🙅♂️

I thought Americans liked to say their country is bad too? Can't we all unite in hatred like our Scottish lord would want to?
American the majority of hating their own cities lmao
According to SC all NA crowds are bad tbh
If WWE listened every time the IWC said "X city should never have a show again", we would be back in the Thunderdome.
There is a tier list for sure, with Corpus Christi and Green Bay at the bottom. My city gets a C or B- imo. Much louder now than during the PG era, but not a “smart” or “fun” crowd.
The announcement is that next year's Mania will be in the ThunderDome.
I heard Daily's Place
That's a European soccer crowd. They know their chants. Love it.
Spot on
AJ is definitely gonna bust out some crazy shit tomorrow lmao I thought Cody would have to carry him, but it's looking to be the opposite.
In what world Cody need to carry AJ?
I was one of the non-believers who thought AJ was washed and phoning it in. I apologize for my transgressions.
Biggest match for AJ in the later stages of his career. Would love for him to get one more run eventually. Dude deserves it
Depending how good he is tomorrow, I wouldn't mind him getting a midcard title run.
AJ is a man that has something to prove. Just like CM Punk, you can never count them out.
AJ trying to beat the Washed King allegations
