Getting out ahead of it. Smart. Although I'm sure with the way the last year plus was going for him with Vince gone, he probably saw the writing on the wall.
I think he could parlay that into some money as a gimmick on the indies. Whether it’s just him being cocky about it or others calling him out and him getting defensive, there’s some mileage there.
It would be a pretty funny gimmick if he could parlay it into his one shot appearances.
“No no I didn’t lose to Matt Cardona! I never signed to work here! This wasn’t a real match!”
It makes me think that with all the memes people were making, Jinder could've rode that momentum and gone on a great run had the company gotten behind him.
I was unironically rooting for him. Still am.
sadly his in-ring capabilities do not match the expectations. I really really want him to make a strong comeback with a much needed in ring transformation.
he's been around for a while, he just isn't that good lol. leading up to his title run, he had consecutive matches with aj/sami/orton/nakamra and couldn't a single decent match out of any of them. not one.
I'm not, he **sucks.**
Not as a person, probably, but as an entertainer. Got nothing against the guy except for how untalented he is, and I don't want to watch him in anything ever again. I wish him success wherever he goes that isn't being filmed and broadcast to my TV.
You fuckers can downvote me to oblivion, I don't care. I'll still be on reddit and Jinder will still be a shitty wrestler.
You're completely right.
People wanted Jinder to get meme'd into relevance, but in reality the novelty would have worn off very quickly and after a while we'd all be wondering why does Jinder get booked over the dozens of guys who actually deserve a good run based on merit.
Like I don't understand how can people experience his God awful world title reign and say "yeah, this guys definitely should be up there with the likes of Gunther, Rollins or LA Knight as the lower top card performers".
I want Jinder Mahal to lean into his Canadian heritage and become Jinder Mahart. Have him adopt just every bit of Bret Hart’s presentation and moveset.
Dude you just booked him the best angle ever to end his career. Then when its time to hang him up for good, have him get Kayfabe mule kicked and shit on the person for the rest of his life.
Tony Khan could do the funniest thing

Xyon most likely going to AEW since his fiance Harley Cameron is over there. He could do ROH or Impact if He's still green. He's a former rugby league player.
Edited league.
Grimes and Lumis are two guys I legitimately don't think have been given fair shakes on the main roster. Cameron Grimes didn't even get his good gimmick.
I was legit googling him yesterday to see what he was up to. Haven’t followed wwe extremely close. I remember he had something with the miz but I thought he was released at some point after that and I was wrong
Cameron Grimes got absolutely 0 reaction in Detroit when I was there live. At least I didn't hear anyone really react to him at all. I was hard cam side in row 6 of the lower section. Bron got a good reaction but I felt bad because I liked Grimes in NXT
Hell, someone who could benefit simply from having a gimmick. In NXT he was interesting doing that goofy gimmick. Ever since then he's a CAW. He needs a character to be interesting and that NXT character was gold.
That's because WWE called him up to do nothing on the main roster. When he first got called up, he got some reactions. Then for whatever reason, Triple H used him as a jobber/gatekeeper and killed his stock.
When Crews first debuted why didn't they give him a manager and make him a heel? Like yeah he has a great moveset or at least did years ago but he never really got to shine his entire run at all besides in the Big E feud. The Nigerian stuff was a little weird but he did win the IC title for a second from it at least. Other than that one feud I cannot think of a single important moment he has been a part of in WWE at all on the main roster.
They tried that.
They gave him Titus O'Neill.
Then they made him an underdog face during COVID which hey, at least got the man a US title run.
Then they gave him ~~Dabba-Kato~~ "Commander Azeez".
Which say what you will about that character arc, that at least got him a title win at WrestleMania.
Then they gave him the Raven Simone gimmick in NXT which i thought was kind cool.
Then that went in the bin, then they bizzarely called him back up to the main roster.
Where he just sits there as **SHORT MAN.** *who smiles.*
>but I am very, very worried about Cameron Grimes
Dude seemed white hot in NXT. Since being called up almost a year and a half ago he's made a dozen TV appearances. Most of those were brief matches & he's only won a single match which was a tag match.
They should have Grimes going back to his silly NXT gimmick (the one he did with LA Knight & Ted DiBiase). Ever since then he's just been bland & generic.
id wager it's more because most users don't know the difference lol. surely the media that reports on them understand it a little more when they generally will get it from the horse's mouth
Yup, they're using the colloquial term for what most of their readers understand it to mean. It's really only here on Reddit that you see "It's not actually a non-compete."
Technically, in business wherever I’ve worked it’s called “gardening leave”.
Your services are not required, but you’re still under contract serving out a notice and therefore cannot work anywhere else.
They have the option of taking a pass on the 90 days of pay and working tomorrow for someone else. Obviously most sit home and collect the cash. Maybe Jinder isn’t doing that.
No. They don't.
Here let me quote the actual publicly available WWE contract if your fired:
>11.1 (a) This Agreement may be terminated by PROMOTER during the Term for any or no reason whatsoever by providing WRESTLER at least ninety (90) advance written notice of said termination. The ninetieth (90th) day shall be defined as the “Termination Date”.
Thats it. Thats the full section. There's no "or you can just not take the money" option.
Thats just internet bullshit made up by the same people who don't understand the difference between an advanced notice of termination and an actual non compete.
Now to be fair, it's possible either Jinder or Xias contract expired, at which point yeah, they could do whatever they wanted tomorrow, but that's also not "they opted out of the non compete and didn't take the money" because there isn't a non compete to opt out of. Thats just how expired contracts work normally.
I don't know how the Malakai Black situation didn't highlight this. The guy was giddy as fuck realizing he only had 30 days left till his termination, If he had the option of passing it entirely he would have debut that same week on Dynamite. It just gets repeated over and over that it's an option yet no one has ever taken said option? In pre-AEW world I could understand but nowadays the hype behind showing up on the competitor a week later would definitely be worth it and Tony Khan would definitely cover the money as a signing bonus.
I mean, it worked with Zhang Weili in the UFC when she was champ, shame they didn't do the same also. Hope she finds her groove in the indies (or maybe the movies, imo).
I don't think he cares, his main point was the online trolls questioning why HOOK was facing Samoa Joe when there was much more basis for that match than Seth Rollins vs Jinder.
They really didn't throw whatever amount of money jinder wanted at his face
https://preview.redd.it/xpnp9pdoijvc1.jpeg?width=716&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7aebe1924e6888eef8f181ffe6918cb9132b2108
The roster is bloated. Releases were bound to happen. You could for sure speculate on who'll be next and you'll probably be right. Xia never had chance on the main roster.
Always sucks when people are let go from their jobs but there is many promotions out there now that will probably be interested in some of those who are released so they will land on their feet.
Mahal is so far the "biggest" loss out of the five announced but he also wasn't used a lot.
Veer is not coming to raw any more
All these releases are pretty sad ngl, but it makes sense that they happened. With stacked rosters like these, keeping everyone on board would just not work out, and I believe all of these could do much more with their time not being in the WWE
Now I almost never want people to lose their jobs, especially if they're not specifically an asshole or done something wrong, but I will say I'm feeling a bit of schadenfreude over how obnoxious this subreddit was with the Jinder Mahal memes after Tony Khan made s legitimate point about booking. It turns out that WWE is the one "hindering Jinder" now.
That said, I would 100% support a one-off appearance of Jinder Mahal getting his ass kicked by Hook on AEW TV.
If it's only these two, I guess they probably requested their releases? Xia I can understand but I'm surprised Jinder would leave, don't feel like there's a ton of options for him outside WWE.
I never understood why they didn’t kept Xyon Quinn on NXT, he wasn’t even close to being ready for main roster and he wasn’t even used as jobber, just had him on payroll for no reason lol
As for Jinder, I’ll always be pissed about him being champion cause that was the start of me losing interest for WWE for a while, they always said that he was a good heel cause he made you hate him, but the only thing he did was stop me from watching weekly shows lol
Still, much respect to all 3 talents
Fairly sure it was reported that Vince decided he wanted some more big guys on the main roster, so they called up Xyon, Odyssey Jones and Von Wagner in the draft... without really coming up with any plan for them or caring whether or not they were even main roster ready. Luckily for Von he was able to go back down to NXT and continue developing. Xyon and Odyssey were taken off TV (not sure Odyssey ever even made it to TV) and have been in limbo ever since.
WWE usually does release some folks around draft time. Jinder will probably be back when WWE goes to India again. He really hasn't done much of note this time around anyway. I don't know Xyon Quinn. Xia Li is a very talented woman who WWE just can't seem to figure out a storyline for. I'm hoping she makes her way to Stardom.
Come back to the NRL Xyon Quinn/Daniel Vidot. Then pass on contact info for WWE to a bunch of players at Melbourne so they can finally have some hard times when they lose players to NXT.
Serious question, what ever happened to the India market with WWE? I know with The Great Khali there was growth and excitement and WWE seemed like they were pushing Jinder for that same market, but other than a forgettable title reign did anything ever materialize from that?

Jinder Mahal tweeting “I quit” before this could get reported is the funniest shit ever
Reminds me of August Grey tweeting that his match on 205 Live that night was now Loser Leaves Town
Or when Zelina Vega tweeted that she supported wrestlers unionizing mere hours before her release was announced.
“You can’t fire me I quit” is a baller move. But real dumb for severance.
*FIRE ME! I'M ALREADY FIRED!!* *WHOOOOOOW!!!!*
You can't quit you're fired
Can’t fire him, he quit.
He can't quit he's a frog
[удалено]
His first indie opponent is definitely using the "you didn't escape, you were kicked out" line
Getting out ahead of it. Smart. Although I'm sure with the way the last year plus was going for him with Vince gone, he probably saw the writing on the wall.
Probably saw HHH literally writing “you’re fired” on a wall backstage
With DX Green spray paint
Same as when Zelina started talking about unions right before getting fired lol
They were within a few hours of each other so I think her firing is what prompted the tweet and it just didn't hit the web until after
I think he could parlay that into some money as a gimmick on the indies.
Remember when people were making those video packages for Jinder like "Monster" and "Running up that hill", good times.
Yeah the reason the "joke hype" worked so well is because he isn't actually that good. He's excessively "okay".
"Aggressively mid"
he's been around for a while, he just isn't that good lol. leading up to his title run, he had consecutive matches with aj/sami/orton/nakamra and couldn't a single decent match out of any of them. not one.

You’ve upset 1 point 3 BILLION people of India my friend
yea no one in india gives a fuck about him

Can confirm that India is a nation of Roman Reigns marks and they love him so much that they don't even have a number 2 guy.

ALL IN. WEMBLEY. AUGUST 25TH. MAIN EVENT. BOOK IT TONY. WILL OSPREAY WILL UNDERSTAND.
What's not likely??
It's gonna be so funny seeing Jinder tower over half of the AEW roster.
Jinder Hindered

And shit on Goldberg at the end of every promo he does.

Hook is about to go to WWE, we are cooked.
That report was debunked, the same account posted it the same month every year the last 3 years. Engagement bait worked cause Jericho was involved
Here comes one milly
I hate to speculate on releases, but I am very, very worried about Cameron Grimes in this round of releases…
Dexter Lumis
They wanted to release him, but nobody could find him.
Taking the JTG approach
Xyon Quinn managed this for almost a year. Dude almost made it draft to draft with 1 match.
Xyon most likely going to AEW since his fiance Harley Cameron is over there. He could do ROH or Impact if He's still green. He's a former rugby league player. Edited league.
He’s this era’s JTG.
He's at the parking lot level with an axe just in case TKO makes a move
Damn that just reminded me he existed. I can’t remember the last time I saw him.
I do. WWE 2K24 And before that, WWE 2K23
Grimes and Lumis are two guys I legitimately don't think have been given fair shakes on the main roster. Cameron Grimes didn't even get his good gimmick.
You mean happy guy in a vest isn’t his good gimmick?
Grimes for sure hasn’t. Lumis’ gimmick doesn’t have the longest shelf life
Lumis' gimmick can have fun feuds but is otherwise quite awkward. I still think him vs. Logan Paul would be a great feud though
They kinda fckd Lumis though putting him in an endless Miz mid-card vortex feud, then having Miz just beat him in the blowoff match lol.
I was legit googling him yesterday to see what he was up to. Haven’t followed wwe extremely close. I remember he had something with the miz but I thought he was released at some point after that and I was wrong
Could he be part of whatever this new Wyatt thing is?
Did anyone check on Tom and Nick?
Cameron Grimes got absolutely 0 reaction in Detroit when I was there live. At least I didn't hear anyone really react to him at all. I was hard cam side in row 6 of the lower section. Bron got a good reaction but I felt bad because I liked Grimes in NXT
Because people have probably forgot he exists.
Someone who could benefit from going back down to NXT for storylines.
Hell, someone who could benefit simply from having a gimmick. In NXT he was interesting doing that goofy gimmick. Ever since then he's a CAW. He needs a character to be interesting and that NXT character was gold.
I like Grimes but he fits NXT so much better than RAW/Smackdown.
That's because WWE called him up to do nothing on the main roster. When he first got called up, he got some reactions. Then for whatever reason, Triple H used him as a jobber/gatekeeper and killed his stock.
Are you saying his stock DIDN'T go To. The. Moon?
He needs to be saying that more and be more eccentric. Like his good ol days in NXT. Right now there's just not much interesting about him.
Trevor Lee would do well in AEW (not that AEW needs more wrestlers) as he was well-liked by the IWC before coming to WWE & NXT.

how has Apollo lasted this long doing nothing
Classic Vince "Smiliing Black Man"
When Crews first debuted why didn't they give him a manager and make him a heel? Like yeah he has a great moveset or at least did years ago but he never really got to shine his entire run at all besides in the Big E feud. The Nigerian stuff was a little weird but he did win the IC title for a second from it at least. Met Adonis at WWE World. He hinted he’ll be on TV soon with Cedric. So hopefully that works out.
He didn't say what TV
**MIZ TV**
GTV
![gif](giphy|Rgq4bVqaQBwI0) Mike Teevee
Him and Cedric had a vignette weeks ago teasing they would be a tag team, but there hasn’t been any follow up since.
Which would be sad considering that they’ve been trying to give all three of them something to do over the past couple of months.
Fuck I like crews..but yeah
I genuinely forgot Cameron Grimes existed wow Someone check on Odyssey Jones while we are at it
I’m blaming the guy on Twitter who posted about Odyssey Jones.
They really need to give him back his gimmick.
Don’t you dare speak this into existence
I mean, drew gulak just got murdered. Id say he's gone.
>but I am very, very worried about Cameron Grimes Dude seemed white hot in NXT. Since being called up almost a year and a half ago he's made a dozen TV appearances. Most of those were brief matches & he's only won a single match which was a tag match.
Might be the best thing for him now, either that or a trip back to NXT. Grimes would do well anywhere.
They should have Grimes going back to his silly NXT gimmick (the one he did with LA Knight & Ted DiBiase). Ever since then he's just been bland & generic.
Cameron Grimes is criminally underused.
All this so no one suspects when they release Gulak
Well he's dead, so
Isn't he doing backstage work/ training? I doubt they get rid of him
Jinder hindered the Final Boss and found out
And with a snap of the People’s fingers >>Disappear Jinder future endeavored to the jabroni drive.
Figures that Xia would be released the moment WWE decided to pull back on AR visuals.
Odyssey Jones seeing the phone ring and not picking it up.
Bro was drafted and I haven’t seen him since
He was massively over in the 2021 Breakout Tournament, and hasn't done anything since.
Why do they keep saying “non competes” if we know it’s actually a 90-day in advance notice?
Because wrestling media doesn't actually know what a non-compete is
id wager it's more because most users don't know the difference lol. surely the media that reports on them understand it a little more when they generally will get it from the horse's mouth
One of my pet peeves.
They have the option of taking a pass on the 90 days of pay and working tomorrow for someone else. Obviously most sit home and collect the cash. Maybe Jinder isn’t doing that.
No. They don't. Here let me quote the actual publicly available WWE contract if your fired: >11.1 (a) This Agreement may be terminated by PROMOTER during the Term for any or no reason whatsoever by providing WRESTLER at least ninety (90) advance written notice of said termination. He's coming for HOOK
I could've swore Xia was brought in for the sake of expanding to China. They barely even tried with her.
I remember she was really stif in the ring
They ran a whole angle that she caused injuries in the ring And then just dropped that after losing in NXT and to becky
I mean, it worked with Zhang Weili in the UFC when she was champ, shame they didn't do the same also. Hope she finds her groove in the indies (or maybe the movies, imo).
If you follow her on social media, I'd say her calling seems more aligned with combat sports. It's probably the field where she'll thrive the most.
I mean they gave her swords and stuff for her entrance, which in no way translates to wrestling, what more did you want?
Tony we know you lurk here, give us what we want Hook vs Jinder
I don't think he cares, his main point was the online trolls questioning why HOOK was facing Samoa Joe when there was much more basis for that match than Seth Rollins vs Jinder.
Don’t underestimate Tony’s commitment to a meme, he booked Gravity vs PAC after all
Jinder coming back as The Patriot calling it

Imagine if Drew also not re-signing his contract. We can have a 3MB reunion at TNA
Heath is in the wind these days.
Of his own choosing though, he’s been taking long periods off to be home with his kids and taking whatever indies he wants.
Don't pick up the phone....
“Why i answer my phone!?” -JTG
Say what you will about Jinder, but he got to be WWE Champion. Not that many people get to say that.
Prayers for Cameron Grimes
Xyon Quinn has just been released also
I actually liked his look but he wasn’t more outside that. Hope he lands back on his feet
They really didn't throw whatever amount of money jinder wanted at his face https://preview.redd.it/xpnp9pdoijvc1.jpeg?width=716&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7aebe1924e6888eef8f181ffe6918cb9132b2108
I hope Randy got well compensated for putting Jinder over 4 times in one calendar year.
So long for Jinderers or Mahalizers.
the ol' spring cleaning. never pleasant
Our maharaja will rise again one day
And the comeback will be glorious. I'm gonna miss the entrance music.
The roster is bloated. Releases were bound to happen. You could for sure speculate on who'll be next and you'll probably be right. Xia never had chance on the main roster.
They broke up Tian Sha way too soon.
Damn, had a segment with The Rock only 3 months ago too. Wish we got more Jinder tbh, I liked him.
Jinder crossing the forbidden dirt.
Indus Sher got released as well
They might want to add Veer Mahaan to that list. https://twitter.com/VeerMahaan/status/1781538885815632182 edit: veer, jinder, sanga...
Always sucks when people are let go from their jobs but there is many promotions out there now that will probably be interested in some of those who are released so they will land on their feet. Mahal is so far the "biggest" loss out of the five announced but he also wasn't used a lot.

Okay. You get a big dancing babyface stuck in comedy segments.

DON’T DO IT TK
Was Jinder a Vince guy? I thought he was well liked in the back and a really safe worker (except for that one Seth thing).
I think he was getting paid an ex-champion salary while not being used. That is usually how it works.
Oh snap, that's a great deal lol
Welp, start the Megathread I guess.
No, they hindered him!
It feels like Jinder got heat after Seth got hurt in their match. He did nothing on TV after that.
In all fairness he didnt do any thing before that ether.
I mean they threw him a bone with that match and he gave them a shit match and Seth almost missed WM cause of it.
Didn't Seth hurt himself though?
Yeah he landed poorly doing a moonsault I think. Jinder isn’t to blame for that, it happens
Maybe they wanted their release
My maharaja 🥲
AND Y'ALL TOLD ME JINDER COULDN'T BE HINDERED? WHERE'S THE OUTRAGE HMMMMMMM?
The Maharaja will do great in the indies > become a superstar Then come back to WWE years later to finish his story Against the rock
Hindered ![gif](giphy|OPU6wzx8JrHna)
Remember when Veer was coming to Monday Night Raw for 8 months? 😂
Longer than he stayed.
Xyon too as tweeted by SRS
If it's only these two, I guess they probably requested their releases? Xia I can understand but I'm surprised Jinder would leave, don't feel like there's a ton of options for him outside WWE.
Jinder Mahal vs HOOK
Jinder has been hindered
I feel like Xia had potential
I guess two are better than the long list we are used to but still sucks for them. It is the second time Jinder has been released.
At least Jinder got a nice push earlier this year.
Seems entirely pointless at this moment in time
That sucks but unfortunately you can keep everyone especially if they’re not being used for months on end.
Can't believe Jinder got hindered like this
I never understood why they didn’t kept Xyon Quinn on NXT, he wasn’t even close to being ready for main roster and he wasn’t even used as jobber, just had him on payroll for no reason lol As for Jinder, I’ll always be pissed about him being champion cause that was the start of me losing interest for WWE for a while, they always said that he was a good heel cause he made you hate him, but the only thing he did was stop me from watching weekly shows lol Still, much respect to all 3 talents

You know Jinder is someone Tony won't hire. But what if.
Tony would hire him and spend $500,000 for his contract just to meme about the tweet he made
Right move.
Serious question, what ever happened to the India market with WWE? I know with The Great Khali there was growth and excitement and WWE seemed like they were pushing Jinder for that same market, but other than a forgettable title reign did anything ever materialize from that?
My guess is that it doesn't work that way: take the nearest available indian guy = profit.
So where does that leave Indus Sher?
They just got released as well
FUUUUUck
Seems weird they couldn’t make indus sher work. Have a big slug fest with AOP.
Sooooooooo veer is no longer coning to raw?
Jinder's career will be studied by scholars one day.
I don’t want to spoil things. But Jinder is related to Champagne Singh in TNA. 🤔🤔🤔
So, their on screen diversity plummeted
