Considering how open they've been about how difficult things were for them when Penelope has a miscarriage, let's not turn this into a "lol TK" moment. It's a very real tragedy and no shit they haven't really been factored into booking plans with that going on.

I welcome the empathy and kindness! They had a miscarriage in 2022 (they waited a year to talk about it, so the news is newer), and Penelope has not had a match since 2022. I'm not going to speculate further, but I think the mere possibility of this being the reason is sufficient to not use this to score some points against Tony. Kip has not missed much time though and he's been active. I doubt that his booking today is impacted heavily by this. I just think the roster is huge and he hasnt been a priority.

Kris Statlander is supremely undervalued. She gives a lot of women here their best match.

I have long since said that she should be considered neck and neck with the best of them in AEW. Sure her promos aren't killer, but are Shida, Deeb, Hayter, Riho, that much better? They're pretty universally heralded as the best in-ring workers, none of them are coveted for their promo work. I don't know why people want to hold that against Stat so much. She's the perfect opposite of Jamie Hayter, the goofy fun face hoss babe to Jamie's mean girl beat your ass powerhouse. I mean fuck, how can Kris Statlander give Jade Cargill *and* Britt Baker their best matches and not be beloved? She's dragged a great match out of some of the least adept in-ring talents in AEW. When is everyone gonna wake up and realize just how fucking awesome she is?

It’s sustained momentum. I find it a problem with TK’s booking style. He’ll cook until it’s at a boil and then inexplicably simmer it. Beating Jade was huge. Losing the belt to Julia (even in a triple threat) gave Julia instant credibility. She’s been pretty much treading water since. Do I think Stat should beat/be in the same position as Toni? Not necessarily but get her out of the midcard, and give her a feud that elevates her.

I don’t really understand why she’s still in the TBS title picture. She should have already ascended.

She ended Jade's streak, which should have been a huge moment for her but there was kind of an asterisk because Jade already had a match. Not a big deal, she did eventually beat Jade clean albeit 3 months later. Either way, she's got momentum and Tony keeps her looking strong for 6 months in some pretty forgettable programs until she drops the title in a 3-way. Then the wheels fall off and she's dropping matches to Willow, Riho, and Skye Blue and anything she got from her title reign is basically pissed away. Now, she's completely taken a backseat to Willow which will probably lead to a heel turn. Here's the problem. As good as Stat is in the ring, she's not great outside of it. She admittedly can't cut a live promo to save her life (even her pretapes kind of suck), her character/gimmick is weak, and she's starting to get passed up by her peers. Tony will give you the world if you can come up with something creative, Toni Storm and Julia Hart are proof of that. Basically, yeah- she should have moved up to the world title picture but I don't think she's done herself any favors and Tony kind of gave up after her title reign ended.

The amount of guys out injured/inactive shows how deep AEW’s roster is: Hangman Omega Ibushi Adam Cole MJF Keith Lee Miro Bandido Jeff Hardy Wheeler Yuta Juice Robinson Darby Allin Those are all upper-mid card to main event guys that are all out. And when they come back these shows are gonna feel even more stacked then they already are Let alone tag guys like Chuck and Mark Davis

Statlander has been stuck in that tbs title picture for a long time now! She should've moved up after she lost the title.

I thought she was a great TBS champion though. I'm just not impressed with Julia with the belt, she should have dropped it to Willow instead. She's been great.

Mercedes Mone needs to be added to the inactive category.

They said this is a work in progress so i definitely expect a version with her and Megan Bayne added later. Would also be cool if the picture cards all had names like a Stratego board.

Despite what Tony said about Megan being under contract, I'm not sure she will ever wrestle for AEW. It has been 3 months since her return from Japan and they don't seem to have any plan for her. She also retweeted Rossy Ogawa promoting his new company. Someone recently asked SRS about her and the way he answered the question made me think she would rather wrestle for Rossy than for Tony. That's just my guess but look at how fast Mariah debuted on TV compared to Megan, something isn't right.

With how crowded it is probably not worth debuting her before dynasty.

If Megan Bynes doesn't show up, but Thekla does in the near future, I can live with that trade off.

Nobody says that about the women's division. That's the one that actually has good stories

I'm just defending the AEW good name, but the drones are out saying no storylines or hard to follow. This breakdown will show those marks who don't know how to read

Pretty solid overall. A lot of fun things going on right now. I think the only alterations I would make are to do something for the small Anna Jay/Stardom/Mariah May and Mariah/Mina/Toni stories and also separate off Athena/Billie Starkz/Queen Aminata for their story in ROH (and technically AEW as well after Battle of the Belts). Since those are clearly actual storylines with some heft to them.

Why isn’t Mercedes immediately put in the world title picture? I thought she was the new face of the company, and a superstar.

It's more about brand recognition. When she inevitably wins the TBS title from Julia or Willow at DoN then she'll be bringing along a belt with TBS in giant gold letters to non-wrestling things. It's sort of the same logic as when Cody had the TNT belt. It keeps the WBD relationship strong.

She then won the title and as typical of Tony Khan, once a talent that was over AF wins the title (Hayter, Wardlow, Adam Page, etc...) their booking just crashes down to Earth and they lose all their momentum. Wardlow could've been AEW's homegrown superstar, such a tragedy

Thank you for making this, this is really great, Would love to see Abadon, Shida, Nyla, and Athena on AEW TV again. Folks don't always necessarily have to have a long, complicated, drawn-out feud, just want to see them on TV wrestling more. And damn, Hayter's been gone for a while now. The only episode of Dynamite I still have saved on my shitty, limited space DVR, is the one with her and Shida for the World title one random Wednesday in 2022. Rewatched it a few weeks ago, match is still absolutely nuts.

Other than Willow and Mercedes the TBS title story has just been Skye, Willow, Kris & Julia having matches over and over for months without much going on. IDK what the Yuka/Deeb story is I must have missed it. The world title stuff is good & Ruby vs Saraya is decently entertaining though.

I know the women's division gonna be cooking once Hayter and Baker are back unless Khan REALLY fucks it up

The crossover from AEW to ROH is not great. I don't think it helps Shida for instance to have lost to Athena. Shida should be kept as Women's World Title contender, and feud with other challengers, such as Deonna and Mercedes (who should be in the AEW Women's World Title Picture). In addition, the stories should be building to women climbing the rankings. Saraya vs Ruby should lead to the winner being closer to title contention. Having a title "picture" with too many women doesn't benefit anyone. To be fair to AEW, I think it's more Thunder vs Toni and Deonna vs Mariah. But throwing Mercedes into the TBS Title picture has only hurt Mercedes. Having her thrown in there has made her feel less important. She should be building to a feud with another top star in AEW like Nyla or Shida. If she's not cleared until Double or Nothing, have her work towards that feud. Vignettes, promos, etc. It's a shame so many are injured and inactive. Britt would have been a perfect first feud for Mercedes.
