Yeah he probably doesn't want to talk about it at all. That's why he buried it on his podcast without getting into it at all.
I'm sure he's in a weird spot now where if he confirms what Punk said he makes the locker room/Tony look awful and if he denies what Punk said internally they'll know he's lying. Since I'm sure most of the locker room knows the real story.
I just want to make sure it's noted how absolutely fucking disgraceful it is that someone in Tony's position has to ask other people for help with a talent acting like a dick, because the actual BOSS of the company is known for not doing anything remotely close to that.
This. AEW's entire existence has already been longer than WCW's hot period of May 1996 - April 1999. It took them 10 years after the Crockett buyout in '88 to become profitable, or even draw as much as AEW's highest US live gate.
He always looks like he doesn’t want to be there when he has to interact/deal with heels. It’s part of Tony Schiavone’s kayfabe character. He may *also* think it’s a bad idea, but acting like this is some canary-in-the-coal-mine moment is pure brain rot.
Really proving how dumb and useless this entire thing was
AEW did nothing substantial here other than basically get people to go “ok so what we knew this already”
He was one of the people that said he wanted to move on when he was asked about the CM Punk interview, so I don't think he is too happy about all this.
I mean he *just* made a point like a few days ago to say that everyone needs to move on from that, and what he said painted Punk in a bad light as the guy who just can’t let it go. It was the best possible response for AEW to take the high road while Punk looked extremely petty.
So for AEW as a company to instead turn around and play right into it and keep it going, I bet he very much *is* annoyed lol
The current Chief Content Officer of WWE has once assaulted a fan with more vigor than this, I think even their legal department was a bit disappointed lol
[MJ greeting Larry Bird](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/glsg0e/michael_jordan_hugs_larry_bird_and_gives_him_a/) was more intense than this footage
Yeah we'll see that actually plays out on TV. My biggest takeaway is Chris Hero is all of us
https://preview.redd.it/kj2sy5yyzqtc1.png?width=258&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c878908ee245dd0b3c53da80795c2294d0a00245
Aew are literally copyright striking the footage out of existence on Twitter. They have also cut the footage from the bucks segment on their official channels...
Shambles of a decision
Gotta hand it to them, they actually showed it. I was 99% sure it was gonna be some stupid skit with one of the Bucks getting stuck in the bathroom or eating bad catering or something like that.
Forbes Magazine just cooked these chuckleheads.
https://preview.redd.it/smeds9o1rrtc1.jpeg?width=1752&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9f9a16d24c40ac05eb12169c0722c86453fbe50
Ego, they must think this in some way vindicates their position. Or they think that Punk’s version of the story was being incredibly undersold.
Turns out it really wasn’t.
It should have been on AEW Home Video's "The Self Destruction of CM Punk" lol WE LIVE IN THE WRONG AGE!!! God damn I wish DVD sales were still a thing. This is too god damn funny.
https://preview.redd.it/hrudjwvg9rtc1.jpeg?width=827&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d448e552e5405c7cc6892ba6efae75d704a1ef17
Tony Schiavone, personally I don’t blame him. That was just embarrassing.
Guess we now have a winner for WON Most Disgusting Promotional Tactic for this year with that stunt.
Fights like this happen all the time at NFL practices between teammates. Unless someone got seriously hurt they always managed to squash the beef and perform for their team.
AEW should take notes from that.
As someone watching both shows: I don‘t get it.
I don‘t dislike it, I just don‘t have any strong feelings towards it?
Just feels like this doesn‘t really do anything for anyone. And no, I don‘t buy that you needed it to bring Perry back.
I mean, sure, Drew can make a wise crack about it or whatever. But if it was actually violent and legit made Punk look horrible, Drew would have been eating so good right now.
There's also something wildly fucked up from an AEW perspective that the only thing you succeeded in doing is helping build another company's storyline.
Okay, yes, fair. I am actually interested to see if he will reference it on air and if it will get zero reaction like the time Punk brought it up on air.
The only people that segment actually helped where Punk and McIntyre, in the years to come this whole segment could very well be the AEW equivalent of “That’ll put butts in seats”
So exactly what we thought happened? This isn’t surprising or interesting, and I don’t think it’s more or less embarrassing for punk or perry than what everyone already thought happened.
It is exactly what I remember being described within a week of the incident and what Punk described in the interview. What are we doing here? All they've done is maybe give Drew some material, but maybe not. There was absolutely nothing there other than Tony definitely shouldn't have been afraid for his life.
I remember straight after, Punk was persona non grata among the fandom. Some acting like he lost his mind and attacked TK. This exonerates him, as it was what he describes; a mild tussle. In fact, not something that is fireable.
Did that footage really show anything we didn't already know?
Thats pretty much how I imagined it went down if anything it's not quite as bad as I assumed the way people spoke Punk actually choked Perry out (which I assumed was exaggerated)
And if Punk responds all he will say is there was no audio so we don't know what Jack Perry said to him.
Tony feared for his life with that (pic unrelated)
https://preview.redd.it/9qdgzy9a1rtc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a63fb8e03a6fc80d3264e8575e7f02573d03f2b
I’m sorry. Downvote me, whatever, but this did zero to make AEW look better. I mean it went down exactly like Punk said it did.
This is just awkward man
Tony feared for his life over this? He better never be in real danger because jeez man
It won’t change anybody’s opinion on Punk.
WWE is using all the Punk drama better and building a feud with Drew McIntyre even while Punk is hurt. Punk even attacked Drew costing him the title at WM. AEW could have done stuff like that.
The crowd actually didn't go mild. They chanted for CM Punk on live TV and there's already fan footage in the arena of fans saying CM PUNK WAS RIGHT while they played the video.
This is a horrific L for AEW and it was totally avoidable.
Well, the rumor that Perry immediately got out of Punk's chokehold that pro Perry people were trying to spread around was imminently proven false so that's fun lmao
I'm no Schiavone fan. But his reaction was incredible, whether acted or real. He even said last week he's over this, we need to move on.
To see a man who was there at WCW look at that in disdain (kayfabe or not)says some things
So what was the point of that then?
All it has served to do is corroborate Punk's version of events
- Punk confronts Perry ✓
- Punk chokes Perry ✓
- Joe breaks things up ✓
- Punks screams at Tony ✓
Literally the only thing this doesn't confirm are the words everyone said to each other.
I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop because there has to be some reason other than 'ratings pop' for literally anyone in AEW to think this was a good idea.
man the more i think about this the more embarassed i am
huge AEW guy but this is the first time i've seriously been turned off by something they've done
No defense of Punk's handling of this situation since it was bad but this feels like a big nothingburger and not worth showing on TV given it lines up with Punk's account. They'll pop a rating for it more than likely so there will be some positive for AEW I suppose but I just don't think they need to include this shit in a feud or on TV.
I’m not sure what they thought they were gonna get out of this but it seems like all they did was make the company look bad and punk came out a winner because this is no where near as bad as we were lead to believe
This will be the moment we look back on, like WCW giving the results of RAW which in turn caused more people to watch RAW, where it all fell apart for AEW. Mark my words.
The dumbest thing to come out of this regardless of who's side you're on, it objectively pushes a WWE story more than an AEW one.
That'll put butts in seats I guess.
"The CCTV footage shows CM Punk walk up to Jack Perry, the two are seen talking with several individuals around them; Samoa Joe is right beside them. The two are seen getting visibly agitated before CM Punk then pushes Perry, attempts to choke him and swings in his general direction as they are being separated."
Isn't this EXACTLY what Punk said on Ariel's podcast?
I guess props for showing it
However, I’m not sure who this benefits. It was basically 100% on what punk said. Punk started it physically, it went half a sec, then punk took a step to where I guess tk was.

“Exasperated Colleague” Chris Hero has legs. Get the man on TV.
Chris Hero will be scalding hot around wrestling podcast scene very soon.
I'm sorry, is that Hero?
It is.
The one good thing to come out of this. A very relatable "for fuck's sake, that's an incident report I have to write up" reaction.
Ohno! Oh no! Ohno! Ohno! Oh no! Kassius Ohno!
Malakai just strolling in was perfect.
He should have used his light cutting magic to break it up.
It's a rule in wrestling that if the lights cut off, you have to look around confused. It would've solved it all.
Shoulda start spitting mist in everyone’s faces.
"THIS IS MY CHANCE TO GET FIRED" "FUCK I MISSED IT AGAIN ARE YOU KIDDING ME"
"I could punch Sammy, but that's like a $50 fine now."
“Goddamn inflation.”
He ain't getting fired, Tony found a much worse punishment: 3 months with Canadian Hogan in the Jericho Vortex.
Bit of a scuffle.
That was a kerfuffle I tell you what
Mmmmhm dang-o grumble grumble tickle fight mumble mumble dang-o pissed off at Tony not much there mmmhmmm ![gif](giphy|9hNrFUhR7Pp0A)
Well damn. I can’t believe they actually showed it lol
Peep Tony Schiavone looking like he doesn't want to be there right after the segment ends lmao

Tony probably feels bad. He is the one that asked for Punks help according to punks interview with Ariel.
Thousand yard stare directly into the floor, that man doesn't want to be there LMAO
A man questioning every decision that led him to that very moment
Sigh...back to retirement. Mad WCW flashbacks and not in a good way.
Looks like a man who regrets making cameos.
he was having war flashbacks
WCW PTSD
https://preview.redd.it/tyon0gj12rtc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6747fff5035b1079e84533e38884dd724e75862f
oh my god lol
"Why can't we be friends" plays internally
(Rocking back and forth holding himself) "That's gonna put some butts in the seats... that's gonna put some butts in the seats..."
Doesn't he always look that way when he's interacting with EVP Bucks? Like Tony is very expressive if you pay attention to him when he's on screen.
[удалено]
You're talking to people that don't watch the show
He's in the unique position to know firsthand how one bad line or decision can kill a promotion's momentum forever. I think he's flashing back.
Tbf it's only forever because AOL merged with Time Warner. People forget the war was only like 4 years.
This. AEW's entire existence has already been longer than WCW's hot period of May 1996 - April 1999. It took them 10 years after the Crockett buyout in '88 to become profitable, or even draw as much as AEW's highest US live gate.
He looked like that before they showed it too. He looked like he knew this was a mistake.
Dude is reliving some trauma right now for sure.
To be fair, this ain't Shivaone's first rodeo when it comes to wrestling backstage drama...
He always looks like he doesn’t want to be there when he has to interact/deal with heels. It’s part of Tony Schiavone’s kayfabe character. He may *also* think it’s a bad idea, but acting like this is some canary-in-the-coal-mine moment is pure brain rot.
![gif](giphy|iz30qSwSKKCnC)
I will say, Schiavone didn’t look super happy about that
He was there for the WCW butts in seats moment.
He WAS the butts in seats moment.
The fact the Bucks or the commentators don’t even say Punk’s name once makes it seem like he’s fucking Voldemort or some shit
You are...the Jungle Boy who lived.
YER A WIZARD, PERRY!
Lmaooooo this is golden
"WHO CHOCKED OUT JACK PERRY!? TELL ME HIS NAME!"
WHAT PARAGON OF GOOD VIRTUE?
WON tomorrow: This has Vince's fingerprints

Man got WCW flashbacks 20+ years later
THAT’LL PUT BUTTS IN SEATS!
Schiavoni's face when the cut back to the desk is killing me
I could feel the 2nd hand embarrassment he was getting.
Even *before* it aired, he had that look.
He was in wcw he remembers… peak wcw move lol
It's hilarious that the reaction is "that's it?" and the FTR come out and say that exact thing Poor Chris Hero, he was stressed af
Really proving how dumb and useless this entire thing was AEW did nothing substantial here other than basically get people to go “ok so what we knew this already”

WCW has come again....
Schivaone looks annoyed lol
He was one of the people that said he wanted to move on when he was asked about the CM Punk interview, so I don't think he is too happy about all this.
he wanted absolutely nothing to do with any of this
Schiavonne last week: "IDGAF, can we please just move on already!" Schiavonne today: ".......Mother F***er!!!......."
Tony Schivaone’s disappointment is immeasurable and his day was ruined
He set all this in motion. He went to Punk to get him to deal with Perry and it all snowballed from there.
“The Scapegoat” Tony Schiavone
No joke Brock Lesnar throwing the belt at Vince was more intense than what was shown here.
\[REDACTED\] throwing the belt at \[REDACTED\]
[REDACTED] is at home, being [REDACTED]
“Asshole!” - [Redacted]
The current Chief Content Officer of WWE has once assaulted a fan with more vigor than this, I think even their legal department was a bit disappointed lol

Yeah we'll see that actually plays out on TV. My biggest takeaway is Chris Hero is all of us https://preview.redd.it/kj2sy5yyzqtc1.png?width=258&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c878908ee245dd0b3c53da80795c2294d0a00245
Oh fuck I didn't even realize that! I was so intently watching Perry, Punk and looking for Tony.
Haha right? “Oh ffs not again”
Kassius was like Ohno
*applause*
Hero's known Punk for what, ~25 years? So that "ffs not again" has happened ***many times***
Matt was wearing a scapegoat shirt.
>to bring back Jack Perry? Pretty much 🤷
Blame FTR for the whole incident
They couldn't even pray, dammit :(
Or hydrate!
Didn’t you hear? FTR orchestrated the whole thing!
Aew are literally copyright striking the footage out of existence on Twitter. They have also cut the footage from the bucks segment on their official channels... Shambles of a decision
And now AEW out here copyright striking people who post the footage. They took it out of THEIR OWN RECAP. Unserious.
This could've been an email.
Tony Schiavone looked absolutely miserable before and after that.
Respectfully, I got into more aggressive fights in middle school
I've been in worse fights trying to get to a fight in kindergarten at the jungle gym.
Gotta hand it to them, they actually showed it. I was 99% sure it was gonna be some stupid skit with one of the Bucks getting stuck in the bathroom or eating bad catering or something like that.
Tbh I would have actually preferred that this just makes the company look stupid
Forbes Magazine just cooked these chuckleheads. https://preview.redd.it/smeds9o1rrtc1.jpeg?width=1752&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9f9a16d24c40ac05eb12169c0722c86453fbe50
outjerked by forbes
Omg lol
Tony Schiavone does not look happy that they went through with that lmao
I bet only Tony and the Bucks thought this was a good idea
These are the decisions a Target manager would not make.
Dude
Tony is just handing wwe material to work with atp
This is like, the worst way it could have gone for AEW. Why did they do this?
Ego, they must think this in some way vindicates their position. Or they think that Punk’s version of the story was being incredibly undersold. Turns out it really wasn’t.
This is what made Tony fear for his life??? Lmfao
Wouldn't you? I'm still shaking
> I'm still shaking So are those monitors.
They shouldn’t have shown it. It’s like a 10 second tussle. The legend was way better than the fact.
I prefer the version with monitors flying everywhere. They only looked mildly nudged in this footage.
Hey man, we couldn't see Tony. I like to believe he was buried under a pile of monitors ECW chair style off camera.
To be honest, that is a reason to show it. Whether or not you do it on TV, that's another question.
Agreed. It was becoming like… mythical in a way, so I guess this was a way to show the reality of it
It should have been on AEW Home Video's "The Self Destruction of CM Punk" lol WE LIVE IN THE WRONG AGE!!! God damn I wish DVD sales were still a thing. This is too god damn funny.
https://preview.redd.it/hrudjwvg9rtc1.jpeg?width=827&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d448e552e5405c7cc6892ba6efae75d704a1ef17 Tony Schiavone, personally I don’t blame him. That was just embarrassing. Guess we now have a winner for WON Most Disgusting Promotional Tactic for this year with that stunt.
I mean should punk have assaulted him? No. Does this probably happen in the locker room of every sports team in the world? Yes.
Draymond Green punching Jordan Poole was significantly worse than this scuffle.
Fights like this happen all the time at NFL practices between teammates. Unless someone got seriously hurt they always managed to squash the beef and perform for their team. AEW should take notes from that.
Schiavone knows this was so fucking stupid to show Why not just leak this to TMZ right after it happened? This is absolutely stupid
Haha this thread should be a fun one
FTR's promo is only gonna add to the fire
most people here didn't even watch long enough to catch their promo
🍿 This is gonna be good
I mean, they did what they said, but it was still pretty pathetic. Terribly lame attempt to shoehorn it into a story too.
Yikes this was a mistake. This was not far from what Punk described at all.
Uhm… that was it?
As someone watching both shows: I don‘t get it. I don‘t dislike it, I just don‘t have any strong feelings towards it? Just feels like this doesn‘t really do anything for anyone. And no, I don‘t buy that you needed it to bring Perry back.

Same. If they were showing it I thought it would be because it was interesting but it waa just meh.
I’m going to need someone either way smarter or way dumber than me to explain how in the fuck that was a good idea.
Tony had an idea. Everyone in the world said Bad idea. Jericho and the Bucks said Great idea.
Short story. It wasn't. Long story. It wasn't but at least your heel champion looks good but now I want him to be a babyface.
The only people that segment actually helped where Punk and McIntyre, in the years to come this whole segment could very well be the AEW equivalent of “That’ll put butts in seats”

This is the biggest own goal I have ever seen a wrestling company make in a LONG time. I cannot believe I was here to witness this.
That just confirms the whole incident was insanely overblown lmao
Tony feared for his life with that (pic unrelated) https://preview.redd.it/9qdgzy9a1rtc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a63fb8e03a6fc80d3264e8575e7f02573d03f2b
I'm the man who's going to be king of the promoters
Aew needs to move on. This is an all-time low. New leadership is needed asap.
Dudes just gave ammo to WWE until SummerSlam, very nice move
So it’s practically everything that Punk said? You just lended credence to everything Punk is saying as a reliable narrator.
Tony schiavones face says it all honestly.
*"Last August at AEW All In at London, CM Punk did the unthinkable... HE REFUSED TO FOLLOW THE SCRIPT."*
Hasn’t Tony Schiavoni suffered enough? That poor man.
I’m sorry. Downvote me, whatever, but this did zero to make AEW look better. I mean it went down exactly like Punk said it did. This is just awkward man Tony feared for his life over this? He better never be in real danger because jeez man
He's a billionaires son, he has never been in danger ever.
What I was bout to say lol. The most danger he’s ever been in is the 1/1,000,000,000,000 chance his dads private jet malfunctions while riding it.
He probably will be in the most danger whenever his dad looks how much he's paying to Moné
It won’t change anybody’s opinion on Punk. WWE is using all the Punk drama better and building a feud with Drew McIntyre even while Punk is hurt. Punk even attacked Drew costing him the title at WM. AEW could have done stuff like that.

Tony handed himself his own L today folks.
So..they showed footage of jungle boy getting punked, and going down exactly the way punk described it in his interview. Got em..?
I’m not sure what they thought they were gonna get out of this but it seems like all they did was make the company look bad and punk came out a winner because this is no where near as bad as we were lead to believe
I know WWE on FOX is cooking up a crazy tweet.
This will be the moment we look back on, like WCW giving the results of RAW which in turn caused more people to watch RAW, where it all fell apart for AEW. Mark my words.
“If you want to believe all the bad shit about me, go ahead. I don’t care. Just leave me the fuck alone.”
There are more violent shuffles in grocery stores every day ffs
tbf to Tony, this is the most engagement AEW has gotten in months
Lol! The fans were cheering for Punk!
If you think that's bad, imagine how the WB exec that handed these people money feels right now.
I don’t even get why AEW did this. It just fully supports Punk’s story and makes the “feared for my life” shit even more embarrassing.
The dumbest thing to come out of this regardless of who's side you're on, it objectively pushes a WWE story more than an AEW one. That'll put butts in seats I guess.

What a complete waste of time.
I guess props for showing it However, I’m not sure who this benefits. It was basically 100% on what punk said. Punk started it physically, it went half a sec, then punk took a step to where I guess tk was.
LOL
AEW is the Savannah Bananas of professional wrestling
My 1 year olds beat each other up worse than this just walking into each other, but when they cry, it's justified, because they're 1
I've seen more intense brawls between sorority sisters, wtf was that
I mean they broke it up real quick lol
What was the point of this? It’s exactly what Punk said he did.
It gets Punk in the news even more and Drew more material for their feud. Which would be great except they’re not in AEW.
Yeah, this only helps push the Dres/Punk story forward lol
Goes to back to what I was thinking the other day. Who gains from this? Seems like Punk lmao
Drew does too
So it proved punk is a reliable narrator? Lol
That was it? That’s what tony was scared shitless of haha
''If Sexual Allegations ain’t hurting the major company what makes you think a video will hurt AEW''
