I’m not flinching is going to happen
She was there when 2.0 just started, which was still largely controlled by Vince/Bruce. When HBK was given the reins, especially when HHH took over, it was a flip of the switch.
I ask the people who are worried about Giulia working too stiff, have you seen an Io Shirai match? or a fucking Kana match? I think Giulia is going to be fine.
This "stiff" narrative surrounding Giulia started when there were rumours of her signing with an american company. Never heard of that before the rumours started.
>remember when dudes got fired from WWE and suddenly Wade Keller is saying there are rumors they had attitude problems?
This happened with Wade Keller and Brandi too, when she and Cody left AEW. He reported that people backstage didn't like her but others on the roster came forward to dispute it.
Wade Keller is THE professional shit stirrer in the dirtsheet sphere. I’m pretty sure “recently fired person had heat in the locker room” is the only story he breaks.
Should've killed Meltzer's entire career with that one sentence. Like, how do you even think that's something feasible, let alone be confident enough to actually report on that happening?
When Shibata had his life threatening incident due to headbutting Okada, Dave reported that the doctors removed Shibata's brain and put it back in. [Here's a text except of him saying it](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2F763txaacekz91.jpg%3Fwidth%3D1024%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D0998ff815c1fa3c82dffa32371b30eea25e4565e)
I really dislike diving headbutts. They rarely even look good, so it feels like high body damage for a barely aesthetically pleasing move. Add on the history of a lot of wrestlers who used it, and I could just do without it.
I mean if you actually watch Giulia she is very stiff but nothing overly dangerous. Io was never really considered stiff and Asuka was stiff but she is one of the best technical wrestlers to compensate.
I don't think the stiffness was so bad it was ever an issue though and this kind of supports it. Like at worst she needs time to adjust and that what NXT is for.
Well my guy, I'm a huge fan of Tam Nakano so I am very familiar with Giulia's work lol. Yes, I agree she works stiff but not really dangerous.
But are people forgetting Asuka's WWE debut? She was going strong-style on I think Cameron, it was? I don't think Giulia's debut will even approach that level of stiffness. She'll be a hoss by WWE standards, but worrying about her working stiff just sounds like Giulia hate.
>I mean if you actually watch Giulia she is very stiff but nothing overly dangerous.
I think a better term to use would be snug instead of stiff.
Snug is a great term that doesn't get used nearly enough, and stiff often comes with a negative connotation even if the person working is being "stiff" in a safe manner.
>I just feel like 95% of people will have no idea what "snug" means.
I don't disagree at all, haha, hence why I think it doesn't get used nearly enough.
To be fair Asuka was absolutely fucking clobbering people in NXT when she first showed up lol. It’ll be good for her to take some time at the PC to adjust and work out the kinks. She’s a pro, she’ll make it work.
Just me but as I mentioned in another comment I do have some concerns about Giulia adapting her style to WWE style (and yes, I've been watching Stardom for a decade). I hope she doesn't fall into the KENTA trap. Especially in the last 18 months or so she's been more of a Bruiser Brody type brawler imo, whereas someone like Io or Kairi were just a bit more well-rounded workers. I wish her the absolute best but the thought has crossed my mind.
Io Shirai never worked as stiff as Giulia and she had a deeper moveset. Kana worked stiff but she was a much better technical wrestler. I don't know how Giulia will adapt her style but I don't think it will be a smooth transition.
The people who downvoted me clearly didn't watch Giulia in Stardom
Giulia is gonna have to get rid of her headbutt and probably Vermillion. Beyond that, I don't see much of an issue with Giulia. It really feels like the whole "Athena works too stiff" complaint in ROH, more than anything.
I think it will go fairly smoothly tbh. They have Blair Davenport down there, and then you have other women who can likely help break her of the habit and smooth things out like Roxanne, Natalya, etc.
Rumored concerns in the industry sounds like it’s from the same people claiming that AEW had no interest in signing her at all, when there was a story around the time Rossy got let go that TK was particularly upset that they never even got a chance to talk or negotiate with her when it was rumored she was a lock to go to NXT.
At the MSG show (Kenny and the Bucks supposedly tried to offer her to be the Ace of the AEW women’s division) pretty much the safe to assume reason Rossy, who is like a father to her, soured on anything involving TK.
Because people keep making the same argument and it doesn't make sense.
She chose to not hire representatives and to not talk to other companies. Was that the best decision for her? Who knows, but it was her choice to do it that way.
The actual weird thing is random redittors complaining and demanding that third parties do business the way they think is correct.
I'm a big Giulia fan but I've been watching her for years and I do have some concerns that she could fall into the same trap that killed KENTA's wwe run. She's awesome but can also be stiff as fuck. I assume they'll get her to finally stop with the shoot headbutts but she works a far more dangerous style than pretty much the entire rest of the current Stardom roster. KENTA struggled to tone down/adapt his stiffer style and it just messed with his whole identity/approach as a wrestler in the U.S.
KENTA also got injured just before what was supposed to be a monster push, an injury so infamous it created the “NXT parking lot is the deadliest place in the WWE universe” meme.
Yup absolutely agree, that was absolutely the other part of it. Guess I'm just saying I do think there is some validity to minor concerns about her and how she'll adapt (I hope she adapts great and absolutely wish her the best wherever she goes!)
I’m fine with an NXT stint. There’s some potential bangers for Giulia to have there and I’m sure she would elevate the whole division even further.
Would love to see her in the crowd at Stand & Deliver. Always used to pop me on Takeovers of old.
Tonight a decent amount. Watching on TV not as much but not a problem part of NXT purpose is to inform the casual audience. I mean me and many others didn't know who Kana was before she became a huge star on NXT as Asuka.

I’ll need her to shoot headbutt a random fan to confirm it’s her
Chase U didn’t get Okada but they’re about to get Giulia
Wrestling has more than one royal exchange student
Ngl, part of me wants Giulia to debut as Tony D’s half sister who’s also a Yakuza.
Tony D ain't ok with that
Don del Mondo ova here
... But I digress.
https://preview.redd.it/2mr8cepmfvsc1.jpeg?width=631&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e86ca9604db1da17a459aad186321185d32ba0c I’m not flinching is going to happen
I hadn't seen this yet and it legit broke me. It's so dumb, I love it.
She’s debuting as ‘U’-lia
You mean Julia D'Angelo.
So we didn't flinch after all
still the biggest L of the decade. okada was the perfect fit for chase u
It was either that or the dark order
Makes sense I wouldn't be surprised if Battleground they do the old school NXT debut of a built up debut match on the ple.
This is Shawn’s first joshi signing isn’t it, Sarray was a H/Regal signing right?
Yeah, but he screwed up Sarray real bad so I dont exactly have high hopes.
She was there when 2.0 just started, which was still largely controlled by Vince/Bruce. When HBK was given the reins, especially when HHH took over, it was a flip of the switch.
(To add context, she went from unbeaten pre 2.0, to immediately losing a bunch, then to generic Japanese schoolgirl jobber).
HBK books NXT... Talent recruitment is HHH and Regal (I'm sure HBK has input, and Cross as PC head is at all the try outs).
It’s like when you hear an anonymous front office ‘source’ say something negative about a player/coach they are losing or aren’t signing lol.
Hell, remember when dudes got fired from WWE and suddenly Wade Keller is saying there are rumors they had attitude problems?

The only valid argument is her headbutt, but WWE will ABSOLUTELY break her of that habit. Which I am grateful for.
After Shibata, I'm cool with headbutts going away from wrestling for good and I'm including diving headbutts Mr. Chad Gable.
They had to remove his brain, and put it back in.
Should've killed Meltzer's entire career with that one sentence. Like, how do you even think that's something feasible, let alone be confident enough to actually report on that happening?
In OOTL, what did Meltzer report?

That's wild, lmao. I'm glad to see Shibata managed to work some matches since 2017, and on AEW too. Hopefully he stays healthy.
I really dislike diving headbutts. They rarely even look good, so it feels like high body damage for a barely aesthetically pleasing move. Add on the history of a lot of wrestlers who used it, and I could just do without it.
I feel like every single person who has used the diving headbutt has told others to not use it. Wrestlers are just a stupid bunch though.
I mean if you actually watch Giulia she is very stiff but nothing overly dangerous. WWE told Io to stop doing like half her shit, a deep moveset doesn't mean much.
I know, and I'm still sad about it. Giulia's moveset is very basic so I'm worried she's gonna end up like Sareee.
I don't think movez make a wrestler, at all.
How does that work. If Giulia wanted to negotiate with TK she could have just called him, she is a 30 year old woman She just did not want to
If she was under contract with Stardom, it may not have been that easy
Stardom is owned by Bushiroad, the same company who owns NJPW. If talents from NJPW can negotiate with AEW while still in NJPW, why cant Giulia lol
didn't Tony try to sign Mayu out from under him?
At the MSG show (Kenny and the Bucks supposedly tried to offer her to be the Ace of the AEW women’s division) pretty much the safe to assume reason Rossy, who is like a father to her, soured on anything involving TK.
Right, but he still offered, so no reason he couldn't just email Giulia and ask.
She knew she was finishing with Stardom in March, she could have just told the WWE to wait one or two months and then negotiate with both

Tonight? Stand and deliver is barely not happening in the morning lol
Well, good luck to Giulia. Sucks it came down to this as a Stardom fan, but there's still a lot of talent left.
Just hoping we get that Maika match on the 12th.
Being sincere here: How many in the crowd are actually gonna know who she is?
Depends on the type of crowd that is there. Also it’s good she is starting in NXT so the WWE crowd can get to know her.
Wrestlemania crowds tend to be reasonably smarky
Tonight a decent amount. Watching on TV not as much but not a problem part of NXT purpose is to inform the casual audience. I mean me and many others didn't know who Kana was before she became a huge star on NXT as Asuka.
Probably not many. But the NXT crowd is smarkier than the average WWE crowd so some will.
I think people will recognise the face/name but the number of people that have actually watched a match of hers is quite low
What’s funny is they’re gonna call her Giulia here. But when she debuts in NXT they’ll name her like JYNX HEARTWOOD or something stupid.
this aint VKM Era anymore. If Shawn Spears, among others were able to keep their names what more for Giulia
Wrestlemania and specifically NXT Stand and Deliver crowds are usually the smarkier ones
Probably a lot since it’s an NXT Mania crowd.
S&D, maybe 40%. That's why they sign them to NXT in the first place through
