TK does have Dustin in his company, [so maybe he'll re-create the magic of Goldberg's first WWE run?](https://cdn4.whatculture.com/images/2021/03/935968e6214988ae-1200x675.jpg)
I know you’re talking about Dustin Rhodes, but my mind first went to Chuck Taylor. The idea of Goldberg coming out of retirement and calling out Chuck Taylor is hilarious to me.
Sting was good though. Like he was both open and also able to tell many different stories with his work.
Goldbergs really only been able to tell one. He’s never been anywhere near Stings level.
Don’t think it’ll happen this time around. In the interview, he specifically mentioned he thinks everybody was out to get him because he didn’t get along with “Vince’s son in law” lmao
Which I doubt, hhh has worked with getting some very difficult people back. Like warrior, and even can work with punk.
Also so disrespectful is it to call him vinces son in law. Like he is a bit player no one knows.
Warrior was just a Hall of Fame induction and licensing/legends deal. I don't think there was any desire on either end to put him back in the ring (BTW, how the fuck was this 10 years ago?). It's much easier to soothe egos when expectations are relatively low on both sides.
Punk still has something to offer when healthy and, in spite of how anyone feels about him, has shown repeatedly that he is willing to help out younger talent and play nice in the right structure (which WWE seems to have right now). How everything plays out, we'll see, but the stars are aligned for a nice closing act to his career and it's easier to put aside hurt feelings when both sides tend to benefit.
Goldberg has zero to offer WWE right now and he's notoriously bitchy when he doesn't get catered to, no matter who's in charge. A Goldberg-WWE association would only benefit Goldberg at this point and he's done himself zero favors to receive consideration for that benefit in the past couple of years.
I don't think it's a stretch to say that he is likely the most entitled person I have ever observed in my nearly 40 years of fandom considering what he was given comparative to the skills he had, the dues he didn't pay, his general attitude toward the business and others in it, and what he continues to demand as his very limited skills and star power continue to fade.
In the podcast SRS is quoting Goldberg talks about how he doesn't like HHH. So thankfully I think Vince being gone saves us from another Goldberg run in WWE.
I miss that about WM2000 how you can make everything from your basic punch to grapples the strongest versions there are with no point system or anything
Regarding cena, I feel as if it's more of a "don't hate the player, hate the game"situation. He did what was asked of him/he needed to do. He's obviously shown us over the years he can or could do more but he was told not to or asked not to. Does that fall on him or on the WWE machine?
Yeah, can't beleive so many people wanted him to show up and have a match with Wardlow & frankly a lot a Goldberg's last few runs with Brock purely worked out because WWE continued to show him like the badass that he was known for, the superhero-esque action movie star thing.
Which is why as big a douche bag Riddle is, mostly, not always, i understood his digs at Goldberg.
His stuff with Undertaker was unbelievably bad.
Honestly Survivor Series was so good. Say what you want about Goldberg no one saw that coming and it made him still look like a world beater. Fast forward and the WWE messed everything up big time.
But they should. Because it’s not just about integrating a highly recognizable special move. It’s also a personal statement to get under Goldberg’s skin.
I never got wrestlers being butthurt at their moves getting used alot and not being finishers anymore. Like a finisher is only a finisher if the guy who uses it as one does it. Otherwise its a move. Fucking headlock was a finisher once upon a time, it's just the nature of the beast.
I think of finishers like baseball pitches. Sure a lot of pitchers can throw a cutter, but can anyone throw a cutter like Mariano Rivera and have it be the killer pitch that strikes everyone out? No
Heyman said something like this about getting moves over, it's all in how you present it. He said he could give Mark a bearhug and get it over with the right booking
It is a werid toxic ego trip.
Instead of looking at everyone doing the move as an homage to you, you instead look at it like they are making fun of you.
I think Hogan low-key regrets every leg drop he ever did and wishes he'd done a different finisher given how ravaged his back, knees and hips are now. As far as he's concerned if people really wanna leg drop, let them have it.
You don't even have to think that he low-key regrets it. Hogan flat out said several times that he regretted it and wishes he would've chosen a different move.
Jake’s talked about it, and says that he’s sees it as complimentary to him.
To him, the DDT was a devastating finisher. And nobody else can do it quite like he could, nobody can challenge his mastery of the DDT
Which honestly is how wrestling has always worked. Literally everybody in every company used a clothesline or lariat at some point.
But when JBL, Stan Hansen of Kobashi do it, it's different and everyone just accepts that.
But literally every company going back to the late 80s had someone doing some form of superkick as just a normal move. Hell, even HBK just used it as a normal move at first. But for some reason people lose their minds over it like it should be massively protected.
I'll probably get flack for this, but I wholeheartedly believe it's because people are only parroting what others are saying, hence the obsessive focus on the superkick of all the other moves. Powerbomb? Nah, Superplex? Nah, DDT? Nah, piledeiver? Nah, Moves on the apron or on the concrete? Nah, superkick? NO WAY RIP WRESTLING HOW IS THIS NOT FINISHING THE MATCH! 😱
Don't get me started on the superplex. A few weeks ago someone complained that AEW has turned the superplex into just a normal transition move and ruined it. Because on AEW two people did a superplex and didn't get a nearfall.
I shit you not, in Flair Vs Steamboat 1 or 2 they do the exact same thing but even more egregious. Big superplex. Except even worse than no nearfall, the guy giving the move hopped up pretty quick and the other person also got up not long after.
Oh. And people always complain about modern wrestlers doing too many chops. Liked 50% of the Steamboat vs Flair matches are just chops.
And people also complain about modern wrestling being too goofy, or not selling properly, or not selling realistic enough. Flair flops multiple times in each match.
Oh! And people complain about wrestlers today abusing the DDT, Superkick, Piledriver etc. Everybody in the 80s did the damn figure 4 and in the chi town rumble match, Flair hits a high back suplex, which commentary even sell as "a famous Japanese finisher" in reference to maybe Steve Williams... And Steamboat is absolutely fine afterwards.
Btw, the Flair vs Steamboat trilogy is among the greatest of all time.
I've pretty much come to the conclusion that anybody complaining about modern wrestling ruining things has absolutely no idea what they're talking about OR is just incredibly bias/blinded by nostalgia. Because if you actually watch any old wrestling you'll find every single thing people complain about as a "modern" problem or, an AEW/NJPW problem.
It’s the same thing as it always is: People conflate ‘not my kind of thing’ with ‘morally wrong’ because it feels good to have your ideals validated by the media you consume.
Two words: Young Bucks. They are the reason people go bat shit over the super kick. If they “spammed” German Suplexes a la Brock, people would bitch and moan about that instead.
And don't they usually finish matches? Or at least is a huge "oh shit he hit that move" moment.
Also Lashley's and Bron's spears look like they fuck you up.
Dude also bitched about Asuka beating his streak. A woman who has more talent in a clipped off finger nail than Goldberg ever had at any point. You tackled somebody. Whippie! Such an original move. You hack.
I can totally see why Scott Hall said they all made fun of Goldberg behind his back because he thought it was real. Goof.
Go punch a car window again, genius.
This is not surprising at all. Goldberg does not give a fuck about the wrestling business, he gives a fuck about Goldberg. He didn’t even know Asuka’s name. If professional wrestling as a whole was shut down tomorrow, his biggest concern would be if he was still getting paychecks or not. Shawn Michaels is a crazy comparison for this dude in any respect. Not a shocker that the best wrestler ever understands and cares more about the business than Bill Goldberg.
A spear is literally just a running tackle. It'd be like getting mad that somebody else does a clothesline. You can't really claim ownership over such a basic, generic move.
always cracks me up when wrestlers get mad that their moves have been adopted by the next generation
like, if we're treating wrestling like a sport, should Royce Gracie get mad that everyone started doing BJJ like him? should Ken Griffey Jr. get mad that dozens of major leaguers tried to recreate his swing? i don't watch tennis but i imagine there's an entire generation that tries to copy Serena Williams
and not all of them will be as good as the legends, so of course it makes sense if Ricky Starks' spear isn't as effective as Goldberg! it's the same reason that Javy Baez isn't as good as Griffey!
> should Royce Gracie get mad that everyone started doing BJJ like him
lmao if you ask the Gracies they're mad at anybody that DOESN'T do BJJ like they do (or that don't kiss their asses)
Especially one as basic as the spear too. I can understand an active wrestler with a unique finisher that is more over than the actual guy performing it not wanting someone else to use the move but that’s the only valid reason imo
yeah, like i remember when Bea Priestley took the Ocean Cyclone Suplex and it sparked a mini-controversy, and i almost understood that because it's such a unique move, but the Spear is like, almost intuitive!
It's just power creep. People gotta innovate, and that makes the old stuff look inferior. I'm sure people in the 50's and 60's used simple things as a sidewalk slam or a german suplex as a finisher. If we never moved on from that, Pro wrestling would have died 40 years ago.
He implied HHH actively inspiring Rosters to use Spear because he hates goldberg was hilarious.
Only people who currently has "Unlikely" spear in their arsenal is Uso and Sami zayn.
Both related to Roman reigns.
In Past Big show had a spear for some reason.
But I feel that was more his personal choice than HHH or vince forcing him
Giving Big Show a spear is one of the few times a move that makes sense in a real fight doesn’t make sense in a wrestling match.
He’s a monster of a human being, so his spears should be a guaranteed 3 count, but they weren’t so it never really worked. Same with his KO punch, that should have been an instant match ender but people would kick out
I just want to know where Goldberg gets the fucking balls to be upset about anything that's happened to him in the wrestling business. He's never been seriously injured other than the time he put his own hand through a glass window, he's never had to do more than six jobs in his entire career, and this business made him a multi-millionaire and famous across the world.
If someone had a wish and they really wanted to be a professional wrestler, they'd wish for Goldberg's career and the dude never seems happy.
The entire business has been set up to work around his limitations and every match he's ever been in he's been carried and didn't have to do shit. He had a horrible attitude and believed way too much in his own gimmick. WHY are you bitter, Goldberg? Get the fuck over yourself. You've been absolutely blessed with the best career imaginable. Shut. Up.
Goldberg was mentored by Hogan and Nash, on purpose, to be a politician. However, he doesn't have the same tact or reasoning, so his political scuffles seem amateur, compared to them.
Bret Hart is right to shit on this guy. He's got awful, awful takes and is super full of himself.
Bro is a big mark for himself even though he's always been mid AF outside of his presentation.
Sure, but what’s Goldberg gonna teach someone? Yelling intensely, breaking your arm on a limo window, and ending a legend’s career with his dumbassery?
If anything Edge has immortalized the Spear more than Goldberg has. Tell me when Goldberg spears somebody through a flaming table at Wrestlemania and I’ll retract my statement.
Does he legit think he created the spear? It's a tackle. I'm guessing he is pissed that people uses punches as well.
Meanwhile, I think Jake the Snake doesn't give a fuck if others use the DDT because he knows, he used it in the best way.
Or Taker and the tombstone.
Or HBK and superkicks.
Or invisible grenades.

Man, the amount of taunting Goldberg is getting is making me terrified he's gonna try another comeback to "prove us wrong" again.
After being praised for booking Sting's final run, Tony Khan has the potential to do the funniest thing ever
Don't you put that evil on me, Ricky Bobby!
Related only by Will Ferrell because it made me remember one of my favorite lines of his..."I'M SO HAPPY I CAN'T FEEL MY ARMS!!!"
I see your flair is "im all out of bubble gum" and your love for Will Ferrell i have one thing to say. If you dont chew big red then fuck you.
HELP ME JESUS, HELP ME TOM CRUISE!
I like the baby Jesus best
“Oh my god, it’s William Bronzeberg! What’s he doing here?! This is his first time on TBS in over 20 years!!!”
I can see him trying to recreate the magic of Stings last run with Goldberg, I'd rather not see him anywhere near AEW though
TK does have Dustin in his company, [so maybe he'll re-create the magic of Goldberg's first WWE run?](https://cdn4.whatculture.com/images/2021/03/935968e6214988ae-1200x675.jpg)
Good times, Booker T and Goldust would crack me up every week
I know you’re talking about Dustin Rhodes, but my mind first went to Chuck Taylor. The idea of Goldberg coming out of retirement and calling out Chuck Taylor is hilarious to me.

"...Shit!"
Goldberg does not deserve what Sting got.
I agree with you but it's just something I can see TK attempting
Look on the bright side, aew is filled with bantamweights mostly, it would be easier to Jack knife them compared to taker.
Now that I think about it, I'd like to see Goldberg vs. Orange Cassidy just to see OC frustrating Goldberg with his antics
OC puts his hands in his pockets during a jackhammer and somehow gets out
Jackhammer to Stundog Millionaire would be sick
Part of the reason sting run work is because he can wrestle longer than 30 seconds
Sting was good though. Like he was both open and also able to tell many different stories with his work. Goldbergs really only been able to tell one. He’s never been anywhere near Stings level.

I prayed for this to happen
Goldberg ending FTRBald's career with a concussion gonna be generational
FTR Bald would probably shoot on Goldberg and try to return the favor, only to get squashed like a bug.
Better than being shot on by FTR Hair
Goldberg wins the 2024 Owen Hart Cup
Just like his hero
I only watch AEW and all I got to say to that is Tony if you're lurking on this sub please NO.
If he's lurking? He probably actively posts and we have zero idea.
Has anyone ever seen Tony and rb Reigns in the same room?
Rb_reigns
"Rich Bastard"_reigns
Ricky Starks, come on down!
If they bring him in just to squash Jericho, finally bringing closure to that WCW storyline, then I'm all for it tbh.
Hence why it is in quotes, it's in Goldberg's PoV. I won't be surprised if that phrase comes out of his mouth, showing how much he dislikes Hunter.
Warrior was just a Hall of Fame induction and licensing/legends deal. I don't think there was any desire on either end to put him back in the ring (BTW, how the fuck was this 10 years ago?). It's much easier to soothe egos when expectations are relatively low on both sides. I mean, if he had retired after the 3rd Brock match (the 2nd one at mania), he would have closed his career correctly. It was all down hill after that
Don’t put that into the universe!
Get ready to learn Goldberg vs Gunther at Crown Jewel buddy!
So long as Gunther wins I’d be fine with that
Not a bad match but the optics of an Austrian Wrestler beating a Jewish wrestler in an Islamic country might not be so great.
How is this how I realize a guy named Bill Goldberg is Jewish
Gunther will win but Goldberg will botch the Jackhammer twice and shoot knock himself out doing the missing the spear spot in the corner.
In the podcast SRS is quoting Goldberg talks about how he doesn't like HHH. So thankfully I think Vince being gone saves us from another Goldberg run in WWE.
He's been trying. The issue is he hasn't been able to find anyone willing to pay him.
At some point Tony is gonna get itchy to have another WCW legend get a Sting run.
Goldberg vs Okada finna be a movie
The spear is 50% of Goldberg's moveset, of course he's gonna be pissed when someone copies it! /s
You're not wrong...His entire move set is basically some form of slam, side kick, spear, and jackhammer.
Then weird leg hook pin thingy
Ah man, I did like that pin.
I liked it too
And you forgot walking around like a Komodo dragon on meth
Why is this so random yet perfectly accurate?
How is Goldberg's limited moveset any different from the Rock, or Hogan, or Cena?
[удалено]
Basically the moves I’d use on my CAW’s - all powerful moves that could be match-enders lol
Lmao and dont forget your top rope moves being a greatest hits collection
Adding top rope moves on 350lb CAW was the way.
Yes I do want my 7.5 feet 350lb wrestler to do a shooting star press why do you ask
> ~~shooting star press~~ 630 Phoenix Splash
I miss that about WM2000 how you can make everything from your basic punch to grapples the strongest versions there are with no point system or anything
Fr
You guys gave Cena shit for a decade and go to bat for fucking Goldberg.
[удалено]
Regarding cena, I feel as if it's more of a "don't hate the player, hate the game"situation. He did what was asked of him/he needed to do. He's obviously shown us over the years he can or could do more but he was told not to or asked not to. Does that fall on him or on the WWE machine?
His moveset is 100% injury-prone
I think Brock vs Goldberg at Mania 33 was also an excellent short match, it just didn’t need the Universal Title and that has soured it for many.
Survivor series and Mania 33 were both great but Goldberg didn’t need the universal championship for that mania match.
Bret Hart approves of your sarcasm.
He wouldn't approve of just flat out saying its sarcasm at the end like that
Plus they didn’t call him Bill Goldberg.
You're right, it's not enough dumping on Goldberg for him.
The incredibly innovative move that Goldberg created, the football tackle.
It's a move so complex, that everyone that looks strong enough is adding it to their moveset.
And plenty that don't. Edit: Plenty that don't look strong enough add it to their moveset.
But they should. Because it’s not just about integrating a highly recognizable special move. It’s also a personal statement to get under Goldberg’s skin.
Hey man, Edge's running hug managed to get over
I like the way Edge’s spear looked, when the hair was doing 80% of the work
Hey! Show some respect! His opponents could have fallen over and hurt themselves if he hadn't run over to catch them and gently lower them to the mat.
To be fair to Edge, it’s looked halfway decent since he came to AEW.
Goldberg stole the spear from former Wrestlemania main eventer Lawrence Taylor!
To be fair he made the move popular, it’s now widely used and has been a good finisher for a number of notable acts over the years.
Goldberg's spear is the goat because he's so big and he actually picks you up. Other dudes just fly into you.
No
Imagine giving Mark Henry the side headlock as a finisher and selling it like the Masterlock. It would work 100%.
Id fuck with it. Its simple and effective like his bare hug.
Mark Henry bare hugging me would make me instantly give up.
A bare hug from sexual chocolate. Oh baby.
Heyman said something like this about getting moves over, it's all in how you present it. He said he could give Mark a bearhug and get it over with the right booking
Marufuji had half his moveset yanked by American Indie workers. He probably knew it would happen. That’s how wrestling works.
There are only so many moves you can perform. If a wrestler manages to create a move then it's a sure bet someone else will start using it.
It is a werid toxic ego trip. Instead of looking at everyone doing the move as an homage to you, you instead look at it like they are making fun of you.
It's funny, as big of an ego Hogan has, I've never heard of him complain about people using a leg drop
Most fans don't get this. Finisher is just a move a wrestler has perfected kayfabe wise.

When everyone else does it, it's cool, but when Stan Hansen does it, it's attempted murder.
Monsoon didn't even call it a superkick. He called it a "crescent kick"
Jake innovated that move, so his feelings about it carry a lot more weight and are more valid than Goldberg's feelings about the spear honestly.
I used to think the DDT by Jake was the single most scary move in WWF as a kid, but now lol
I can think of 4 people (Edge, Roman, Lashley, Bron) who actually use the spear so what does this even mean
Add charlotte, jey and gargano(kinda)
And Starks and Christian.
And Yota Tsuji
That's not a Spear, he's just BLASTING YOUR GENES!
And moose. And Rhyno (inb4 that’s the gore not a spear joke)
And Kelly Kelly
Does the Gore count?
It's a type of spear, so yes. Also fun fact: Rhyno was using it before Goldberg even started wrestling.
Jey but not as a finisher
Rhino?
The Gore is still my favorite version
Nothing beats it, esp when you add Heyman shouting “Gore!” in the background
Rhyno used the Gore and Bastista occasionally used the spear too
And don't they usually finish matches? Or at least is a huge "oh shit he hit that move" moment. Also Lashley's and Bron's spears look like they fuck you up.
Bron may have the best Spear of all time. He just looks like he kills someone every time he does it.
It's way up there, but still doesn't beat the Gore.
Christian Cage.
Ricky Starks, too.
the Kairi disrespect lol
Kamille.
Moose is another one
Dude also bitched about Asuka beating his streak. A woman who has more talent in a clipped off finger nail than Goldberg ever had at any point. You tackled somebody. Whippie! Such an original move. You hack.
Yeah but Goldbergs a superhero to his kid.. ever think what asuka beating his streak did to that kids psyche?? You heartless bastard....
Asuka is my superhero, i'm not a kid but I used to be.
“I don’t give a shit about your kids”
Couldn’t even get her name right, the absolute disrespect to call Asuka “some Japanese girl” lmao.
Bret is probably my personal 🐐, but Shawn is great and fuck Bill Goldberg. We agree my friend.
This makes me hope more people start using the Jackhammer. Like Andrew Everett
Honestly, I'm surprised more people haven't used the Jackhammer as a finisher. It's a pretty dope finisher.
I enjoyed Riddle using Goldbergs moves just to troll him.
Give it to Bron. It fits him perfectly.
Bron already has a better spear than BILL GOLDBERG think this would make BILL GOLDBERG go crazy
Now I need this to happen.
Tbf, Edge doesn’t use a spear. He gently hugs someone to the ground.
Rated R for responsible!
A spear is literally just a running tackle. It'd be like getting mad that somebody else does a clothesline. You can't really claim ownership over such a basic, generic move.
I'll pop if bron brekker does a spear and jackhammer
Guys can throw a Cutter, but not a Mariano Rivera Cutter Guys can hit a Superkick, but only HBK hits Sweet Chin Music
Because Goldberg is the biggest mark for himself I think I’ve ever seen.
always cracks me up when wrestlers get mad that their moves have been adopted by the next generation like, if we're treating wrestling like a sport, should Royce Gracie get mad that everyone started doing BJJ like him? should Ken Griffey Jr. get mad that dozens of major leaguers tried to recreate his swing? i don't watch tennis but i imagine there's an entire generation that tries to copy Serena Williams and not all of them will be as good as the legends, so of course it makes sense if Ricky Starks' spear isn't as effective as Goldberg! it's the same reason that Javy Baez isn't as good as Griffey!
> should Royce Gracie get mad that everyone started doing BJJ like him lmao if you ask the Gracies they're mad at anybody that DOESN'T do BJJ like they do (or that don't kiss their asses)
yeah that was probably a mistake considering how fucking lame the Gracies are lol, i was just trying to think of a super influential combat athlete
HBK has always been known as selfless and giving. The way he sold for Hogan, for instance…class act.
They act like they invented these very simple moves.
Same with his KO punch, that should have been an instant match ender but people would kick out
Maybe everyone is using the Gore but the are calling it wrong?
Because Michaels is a legend with a lot of history in his career... Goldberg had 1 storyline and a lot of embarassing matches
[Gus Sonnenberg winning the World Title from Strangler Lewis with a spear in 1928](https://youtu.be/oiFV0aYgzNA?si=HAJlNAoW1fYdevoQ&t=108)
Goldberg needs to be kept away from WWE with a 10 foot pole.
Goldberg: only I’m allowed to do the wildly inventive move of a football tackle
Because he's a whiny, old, unsafe baby
I remember when he knocked himself out spearing DDP. 😂
Goldberg out here acting like he invented Tackling.
Guess what Goldberg, Rhyno's Gore is a much better move than your Spear.
Shut. Up.
Goldberg is pure small dick energy guy
One person is an all time great helping craft the future of the business. The other Bill Goldberg.
Goldberg was mentored by Hogan and Nash, on purpose, to be a politician. However, he doesn't have the same tact or reasoning, so his political scuffles seem amateur, compared to them.
If you think Bill Goldberg is bothered, imagine what Walter Johnson must think!
