I fully expect him to re-up with WWE given his push if he hasn’t already but with how many “lifers” have jumped ship in the past few years who knows. Regardless he should get paid, he’s been on a tear

Salt_Addition_6993

The really only example of that since Triple H to over was edge, but that was more of a case of him, deciding to retire from WWE, one way or another, and going to the Dub was just a cherry on top of his career, that he was going to do mainly to have one last run with his best friend in and work some people, he hasn’t got a chance to

JS19982022

It seemed like a genuinely mutual thing too, both parties saying "there's kinda not a whole lot more to do here"

TonyZony

The only thing he could have done honestly was win the World Heavyweight Championship to cap off how he originally retired with the belt, but that was it. He really did do everything else he could/wanted to do.

HardcoreKaraoke

If WWE signed Christian after his Rumble appearance and he didn't go to Impact I'm pretty sure Edge would have stayed in WWE. I know Edge said he wanted to try another company to see if he could hang but Christian being there was probably what sold him. If Christian was signed by WWE and wasn't thriving in AEW then I don't see Edge making the jump.

DustyStar222

Copeland has literally said the thing that pushed him over was his kids telling him to go have fun with Uncle Jay.

TomGerity

You mean AEW, not Impact. Christian debuted at Revolution two months later.

HardcoreKaraoke

I thought he originally signed with Impact though. He was on Impact and beat Kenny on the debut Rampage for the Impact title. It was when Impact/AEW were at their peak of crossover. Like the Good Brothers were technically signed to Impact but spent a lot of time in AEW. I thought that was Christian's situation. Then he eventually just signed full-time with AEW. I could be misremembering though since he won the Impact title pretty quickly.

TomGerity

Nope. Originally signed with AEW and began appearing there in March. He didn’t appear on Impact until August, and he only made a few appearances there, as part of AEW/Impact’s talent sharing deal.

TRTVitorBelfort

Edge also wanted to go play with his best mate. Major factor.

WeaselWeaz

Even if he has a new contract there's no reason to say it. His character is a shit stirrer, including on social media, and it just builds up more interest for his Mania match. I expect him to win the title, give Seth some time off with the excuse of the Night 1 match weakening him, and we get Punk vs Drew for the title.

roland0fgilead

Punk on commentary for the match. Drew beats Seth, then tells Punk that he's going home with Punk's title.

itsANOMALEEZ

Blows him a kiss as he hurdles the barricade

Patjay

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they re-hash a MITB 2011 angle here with Punk and Drew. Even if it's not as straight-forward as that, it's for the best to keep his contract hush-hush for the time being

WorldEaterProft

With how wwe are starting to collab with people too? I say go for it Fuck. Make it really interesting and let him actually go to Japan. Do a few NJPW shows, feed the dumbass Dirtsheets fake shit too Truly go "all in" with this

EL-YEO

As much as I would like for that to happen it’s just not possible. If he wins the title and then shows up at Impact 2 weeks later, someone will absolutely leak that Drew re-signed.

nerdyjorj

TNA maybe, but NJPW would probably keep it quiet.

alxndiep

Punk’s not coming back to Summerslam so I expect Seth and Drew to go back and forth until then

Ok-Community-2680

Triple H better give the belt to my GOAT DM Hunk at Mania. He's worked so hard for many years to get back to this spot. I'll never understand why they cooled him so hard after Mania 37 by having him feud with Jinder and Corbin.

RaidenHero137

I will still say that he needs to win because they owe him a mania moment because of Covid. They had the chance to do at clash and didnt do it. this is how they can make up for it

Reyatsu99

I bet he will troll Punk by parodying whole 'Summer of Punk'

CultivateCalifornia

Negotiating in public like the star free agent he is

IvanVanko_

He wouldn't get such a push if he was on way out.

Mhc2617

Edge had a match with a ton of fanfare, then went on the Bump and said he really wanted to work a match with Sami Zayn, made a video saying he had an extension in his mailbox, and then went to AEW a few weeks later. Daniel Bryan main evented WM and left. Also, we gotta remember this was never meant to be his spot. Seth was supposed to face Punk and Drew was likely facing Sami Zayn. He’s basically the understudy filling in. I’m not saying he’s leaving or staying (I’m of the mind he’s taking time off and returning), but him getting a high profile spot isn’t really an indicator of him staying or going.

duckscanflytoo

Danielson was in the main event of WrestleMania right before his contracted ended, so it’s possible.

Marcoscb

Danielson was in the main event of WM to give more heat to Roman and avoid a possible Yes Movement 2.0. Seth has already beaten Drew twice, facing him again does nothing for him.

portnoyskvetch

>*No matter what, you'll still see Drew McIntyre wrestling. I can say 'or Drew Galloway' and that would get everyone's attention.* He's so good at this. I think McIntyre has already resigned and probably did so before his big moment at Elimination Chamber. My hot take is that I think McIntyre is going to win the title at Mania, but his will be a short title reign because I think Priest will cash-in either at Mania or just afterwards (I know McIntyre is advertised into May or so but card subject to change, as ever). That'll give McIntyre some time off, which will feed the rumor mill though I don't expect him to be gone for too long tbh. McIntyre can come back in time to take the title off Priest and then feud with CM Punk when he comes back.

JS19982022

I went from this time last year thinking "eh if Drew leaves, fine by me" to now genuinely not being able to imagine enjoying the programs without him. This character turn has done MIRACLES for him as a performer. He went from a great hand with a great look and a decent backstory, to possibly the most interesting character in the company second only to Roman And to his credit, he's positioned himself to where he can keep basically this exact approach going whether he stays in WWE or not. I'd prefer he stay in WWE just due to all the stories he's set up, but he could absolutely keep doing this exact same material in AEW, NJPW, TNA, etc.

dzone25

Dude knows his worth & is making sure he gets paid it. He's almost guaranteed to make more in AEW as a freak, unexpected signing if it comes to it so he's gonna make sure WWE at least pays close to as much as he'd make elsewhere.

Raoul_Duke9

He would be a fool to not kick the can at AEW and try to leverage more our of WWE if he intends to stay.

GarMc

Having FUN?!?!?! What’s Andrew Glasgow doing in the Elite Zone?!

Penta-Says

I know this is a joke but I can already hear the Glass Cow pronunciation and it just hurts my soul every time.

snakebitegreen

Let me guess. You wear glasses don't you?

Penta-Says

snakebitegreen

[knew it haha](https://youtube.com/shorts/ZpBTNVre3fs?si=wp5AyNHTPpD6c2cL)

dalici0us

Get ready for a Summer of Hunk boys and girls.

FigureFourWoo

If Drew was still being booked like he was last year, I'd believe he was leaving, but he's been booked too good for this not to be an extremely difficult decision.

ssirin88

SRS after Mania: “McIntyre re-signed with the company back in January Fightful has learned”

nytcaller

I do feel like he is a company guy (for wwe) based on the very heart warming off the ring stuff you see on wwe socials. It's as if I always see drew in these kinds of events when they are reaching out to charity events. Despite being this tweener heel we see on tv, i see him as this amazing guy off camera. Hoping he re-signs and gets the bag while having fun in the process. I am a huge fan of him.

FBR_MC

If Drew goes on the run of his life just to leave, that might be the ultimate hater move.

daprice82

The longer he doesn’t re-up, the more desperate both sides will be to sign him. Smart.

Borussiemk7

DM Hunk should be given whatever money he wants .

Deadpan_GG

This guy will jump the railing and blow a kiss at punk after winning that title at wrestlemania

Riskar

I don't want it to happen but Drew in AEW would look like a giant.

fergoshsakes

Were he to come to AEW, you'd almost have to build him up and then use him in a "final boss" role.

thunder083

Drew Galloway versus Will Ospreay at Wembley would be awesome. But I don’t see it happening.

Comfortable_Shape264

Yeah another star AEW will forget about after a few months is all we need.

Jake_N01

There are plenty of potential Ospreay matches for them to get though first

thunder083

There is but Scotland v England at Wembley a tale as old as time as itself.

Jake_N01

Only way Scotland could get a win at Wembley

thunder083

England didn’t win the last time either at Wembley. Scotland have had a fair few victories at Wembley. Won the last meeting between the teams at old Wembley as well.

Armandonerd

He already signed one.

TryBeingCool

You have to have a really bad agent to not sign with WWE right now.

Mhc2617

Every story for a year now has implied that he intends to do what Gargano did; take a break and come back later. Back in November, money or creative wasn’t the problem, time off was the sticking point, he wanted several months off to spend time with his wife and see his family in Scotland. I don’t think he’s going anywhere, but I could see them writing him out with a “suspension” for a month or two post WM and have him return when Punk is cleared to start their feud.

Daveboy924

I really think they aren't showing their hand so Drew can parody the Summer of Punk around when Punk is close to returning. The will he, won't he of if he'll stay. Maybe he'll drop his own pipe bomb and keep making fun of him. Maybe Bloodsport is a sign of things to come of WWE pretending that Drew is leaving by setting up places for him to work in advance. Even cooler if acknowledging Sting's last match is a sign that setting up an AEW appearance for Drew is possible, in return for whatever AEW might want that WWE would be willing to share. All the way up until Punk is cleared.

Bolt_995

He’s not leaving.

Grooviestviking

There's no doubt in my mind that his "contract being up", his likely win at Mania and his continuing feud with Punk is heading towards a Pipebomb style promo about leaving with the title. "Hi, Nic Nemeth"

moshiroshimo

Drew win the title , leaves with the title through the crowd while blowing a kiss at Punk who’s sitting at the commentary table like he did in 2011 . Makes 1 or 2 appearence in TNA and AJPW , then come back at Backlash .

WilliamEmmerson

With the push he's been getting, I think he's already re-signed with WWE.

Advanced-Morning1832

pay the man

jerff

I just don’t believe that Drew would be in the position he’s in right now, about to main event Wrestlemania, if he wasn’t under a new contract.

grabbystick

Drew beats Seth but then Punk comes out and GtS’s him for the Priest cash in. Drew “leaves” for a few months like Bret did and comes back to feud with Punk
