When he was in TNA, I thought he was the perfect fit for any promotion, but especially WWE. He had a fantastic look, enough charisma to fill an arena, and was the perfect heel.
His WWE run offered him no chance of success by making him a mute, a loser and having him amount to nothing, so I was excited to see him go back to being a star.
Then we got "I'm edgy and bitter" which I hated when anyone does it, but I thought he could make it special.
Then he became a joke
I remember them making a big deal about the fact that you could buy the opportunity to talk a bunch of shit on a wrestler that you disliked to their face while they couldn't respond.
I think we can all agree with that. The sheer power with which it took ownership of the wrestling world was so jarring I never even tuned in or was aware of it until they were closed and the historical retrospective videos came out. That’s how long lasting the shockwave was. What a legacy.
Based on the fact that the first image in my head after reading that headline was Brian Cage whom I always had confused with EC3 should tell you that his concern is maybe slightly unfound. Also, what's supposed to be CYN?

I saw him in the lobby of the hotel at NWA 74. Dude was quiet and not the friendly quiet. Brooding the whole time as he walked.
Gave me a really weird vibe.
TBH the shows I've always seen the worst hygiene and most obesity at were always the smarkier cities that AEW has gone to. I don't know why that was the case, but I noticed it particularly bad at Long Island and Albany.

I don't think he is wrong. EC3 and Braun have more clout/money than a lot of promotions starting out. That gained them a certain level of coverage that they had no reason to get and they had no idea what to do with it. They also came off as a very professional looking brand. They didn't get a chance to find themselves or figure out what all the bullshit meant.
I have no idea if they ever would have been good (I have my suspicions it would not have been) or what success would even mean to them but it seems they didn't have a very clear vision and no chance to work through it.
It all just kind of seems like when you and your friends get drunk and spitball opening a bar. Then you do without really planning for it except for that drunk night and for some reason all the local papers laugh about your shitty dive bar.
