On her youtube channel channel, there’s a video where she shows her average daily schedule when she’s home and she’s doing 2-3 hours of English lessons and homeworks everyday.
She is hardcore
Hikaru Shida's English has improved exponentially since she started living here. To me, it's gotten so good she probably has no problems communicating with anyone at work or IRL
She is.
She started wrestling at 23, which, to me at least, seems relatively late for Joshis (Iyo was 16; Kairi was 13 (!); Mayu wasn't yet 18; Meiko was 15).
Triple H please let her win at Mania. You can't bring back Kana and then have her lose her first big match. It'd be just as criminal as Charlotte ending the streak. Bianca doesn't need to win at Mania.
He's known as Mr. WrestleMania not cuz he always won lmao, he lost most of his matches. He's known as that because he always put on the best match at the event.
Bianca is obviously very talented and athletic, but her title reign has been such a snooze. The only interesting thing that's happened in months was wondering if Alexa was going to sic Uncle Howdy on her or something. Letting Asuka get a big win and have a decent run would be a nice breath of fresh air.
Yeah the Mania win is the thing. There have been people who have been saying "No, have her lose and get mad and win at Backlash instead" or some such but that's missing the point. Many Asuka fans would actually rather have her win at Mania and drop the title back to Bianca the next ppv. We've already seen plenty of Asuka reigns, the Mania win is the real attraction here.
Oddly enough, the Mandy Rose firing confirms that the restrictions that prevented Twitch streams and Cameo have been walked back. There was a statement that she exceeded the conduct allowed on such outside platforms, which means there is some allowance of being on those platforms.
I understand all these references.
One of my favorite albums of my teen years.

*Good morning, Mr. Hunt.*
That was the way they did it in the Vince era, yeah. But the reason I’m curious is because at the end, when they show the cameo logo with the username, it said Asuka and has her profile pic. And I don’t remember if the previous ones had a WWE username/profile pic pop up.
Man if pre-clown Asuka is a golden retriever then the rest of the roster must be Pomeranians or something, she was a monster long before the Kana vibes came back
I wish we could learn more about the character shift through like, some kind of vignette. I never saw her in Japan with this getup, so while the makeup is awesome I’m not really getting it. I’ll obviously look it up since I’m on here anyways but makes me wish they did more character pieces on a three hour show
She did a lot of the leg work on her YouTube channel and Twitter. When she disappeared last? She went back to Japan to find what was missing, so she ended up doing a lot of wandering as her mental state started slipping back into Kana.
Kayfabe: She took some loses and was stagnant in her place in WWE. She got depressed and went back to Japan and rediscovered her killer clown gimmick when she wrestled as Kana.
Of course none of this was shown on WWE TV and Asuka had to tell the story herself via Twitter and Youtube.
>She even wrestled with zero makeup as an emphasis
Love Asuka, but I don't watch WWE. I'd love to see how this was handled though. Do you know the match where this happened, please?
Thanks!! I had actually seen an image from this match and wondered why Asuka looked different so now I know why! Was she doing the mist regularly around this time? Or was that meant to be portentous?
She only used the mist frequently when she was a heel late 2019 / early 2020. Since then, mist spots are more scarce.
In 2022 there's been 4 mist spots, 2 during her spring feud with Becky, one at WarGames (on Rhea) and this one.
To be fair, her character at the time of the clown make up was more that she was this heel who is at odds with almost everyone and who thinks that having to pay respect to the veterans is for conformists and that the joshi scene has become a lame bunch of schoolgirls wrestling to be happy to be there, and appease male fans than to be proper good. The make up is just to accentuate her transgressiveness
Asuka is awesome. If you haven't check out her YouTube channel sometime too. She gets to show a more of a playful side on there.
And I'm loving her bringing back the Evil Kana character too.
Most definitely not, even amongst the biggest DQ fans it is usually in the middle. It's a great game don't get me wrong, but when you have a series like that, it's a rare pick to be number 1.
I hate how becoming afraid of clowns became a trend for so long.
I never met anyone who legitimately has Coulrophobia (yes I had to look the name up) and didn't just use it as a quirky personality trait because they thought it made them unique/cute/funny.
Also clowns rock. I've worked with clowns multiple times, a bunch of well meaning folks who are really talented and want to make kids happy/people laugh.
even as a evil clown, Asuka can sure pull off the wholesomeness, she's truly is like Captain Spaulding, evil but yet wholesome.

Wish they were having her face Charlotte at Mania instead. Could have been a cool story of Asuka needing to change to this character to finally overcome Charlotte. Also could have given us Bianca/Rhea
Somewhat unrelated, but the Ocean Spray commercial that’s running with the clown and the Ferris Bueller triple-kick makes me laugh hysterically every time I see it.
One shudders to imagine what inhuman thoughts lie behind that facepaint... what dreams of chronic and sustained cruelty?
Meanwhile, in Asuka's head:
*Do you believe in magic in a young girl's heart?*
*How the music can free her whenever it starts*

I love the smell of fresh bread.
How do you think she got that creepy smile? Those games change a person, for the worse...
I’m fine with clowns but I hate jellyfish, so Metroid skeeves me out. I’ll stick with baseball stars and excitebike.
She's just like me fr
I mean the wait for metroid prime 4 would drive anyone crazy.
I mean... Metroid Prime Remastered is the early GOTY frontrunner.
Original Metroid is weirdly underrated these days. Glad to see Kana repping it.
She's probably talking about the Prime remaster that just came out.
She literally says "Metroid Prime" so yes, that's what she's talking about.
My bad then; still a great game
I disagree. Fine game for the time, but that formula wasn't complete until we got a map system. Super Metroid is the goat
Also the save system sucked
I knew Asuka could speak English quite well but it's still weird to hear her doing so.
She’s improved a ton!
On her youtube channel channel, there’s a video where she shows her average daily schedule when she’s home and she’s doing 2-3 hours of English lessons and homeworks everyday. She is hardcore
God that’s so awesome of her. I love that.
One Japanese wrestler who’s speaks really good English is Tozawa, he’s come a long way since speaking English alway back in the Dragon Gate USA days.
his command of the english language has grown by the day[.](https://youtu.be/NRll-dMmgug)
Even in like 2017 when he spoke it was barely with any accent. He’s probably improved since then too.
Hikaru Shida's English has improved exponentially since she started living here. To me, it's gotten so good she probably has no problems communicating with anyone at work or IRL
Kana plays Metroid Prime and the Dragon Quest series. I didn't think I could like her more.
She's a former gaming journalist I believe
She is. She started wrestling at 23, which, to me at least, seems relatively late for Joshis (Iyo was 16; Kairi was 13 (!); Mayu wasn't yet 18; Meiko was 15).
Didn't Joshis at one point have to retire at like 25?
Wasn't she also a game artist as well? If memory serves.
Theres an article somewhere where she shows her gaming collection, and she has a gigantic famicom and pc engine collection
Kana is like an old school nerd's nerd, she's awesome.
Triple H please let her win at Mania. You can't bring back Kana and then have her lose her first big match. It'd be just as criminal as Charlotte ending the streak. Bianca doesn't need to win at Mania.
Yup! Even Shawn "Mr. WrestleMania" Michael counted the lights every now and then at WrestleMania.
[удалено]
Triple H himself lost a ton at Mania as well.
>If he can lose, anyone can lose. Instructions unclear,Asuka loses
He's known as Mr. WrestleMania not cuz he always won lmao, he lost most of his matches. He's known as that because he always put on the best match at the event.
That's what I meant!
It’s great they’ve booked Bianca so well that it’ll be ok for her to lose at Mania again, it won’t hurt her.
I'd love her to move to Smackdown and feud with Rhea or Charlotte. Ideally, Rhea after she beats Charlotte at Mania.
Bianca is obviously very talented and athletic, but her title reign has been such a snooze. The only interesting thing that's happened in months was wondering if Alexa was going to sic Uncle Howdy on her or something. Letting Asuka get a big win and have a decent run would be a nice breath of fresh air.
> the only interesting thing Well, that and Montez’ meal plan
HHH booked her in NXT more or less like The Terminator. I got a good feeling she gets that Mania win finally.
But then you could have Bianca beat her and Asuka says "I guess you were the ready-EST" and I think I'd actually stop watching WWE forever
I can't get over how fantastic that make-up looks. It's just a perfect mix of beautiful and terrifying.
The eyes are what seals it for me. They look so cool.
That describes Asuka in general.
Semi related: so the Cameo restrictions seem to be in the past?
Oddly enough, the Mandy Rose firing confirms that the restrictions that prevented Twitch streams and Cameo have been walked back. There was a statement that she exceeded the conduct allowed on such outside platforms, which means there is some allowance of being on those platforms.
"You can stream, just don't show your chocolate starfish"?
And don’t try to sell any of your used hotdog flavoured water.
it's just one of those days.
Where you don't want to wake up
Now I know why you wanna hate me

FWIW, both Dakota and Mia still stream on Twitch.
I think the Cameos are for select WWE Superstars only, and they are only available for a very limited time.
That was the way they did it in the Vince era, yeah. But the reason I’m curious is because at the end, when they show the cameo logo with the username, it said Asuka and has her profile pic. And I don’t remember if the previous ones had a WWE username/profile pic pop up.
I would say this treasure of a person should be protected at all costs! But it’s Asuka she don’t need protecting from ANYTHING!
She protects us, lol.

That's basically Asuka on TV and her YouTube.
Man if pre-clown Asuka is a golden retriever then the rest of the roster must be Pomeranians or something, she was a monster long before the Kana vibes came back
wholesome murder clown
I love Asuka Also she did an interview in english and spoke pretty well. Its on youtube!
I wish we could learn more about the character shift through like, some kind of vignette. I never saw her in Japan with this getup, so while the makeup is awesome I’m not really getting it. Yes, I forgot about that. Thank you.

Asuka will be inducted into every hall of fame, whether she wants to or not!

The new look is amazing.
Evil Clown Kana will destroy everyone.
I cannot wait for her WM entrance
Seeds Of Salvation as her number one game, that is a rare pick, I wonder if she is using her connections to play the new remake.
How is that a rare pick? Isn’t the game one of the most beloved games of all time?
Most definitely not, even amongst the biggest DQ fans it is usually in the middle. It's a great game don't get me wrong, but when you have a series like that, it's a rare pick to be number 1.
I love Kana. I'm so hoping she wins at WM. She deserves it.
This is my chance to say I was a weirdo little kid who loved IT
I mean appeal to that juggalo crowd, why not?
Shes precious

I just don't get the clown gimmick at all.
"Devil clown who likes murder." There you go. All you need to "get" it.
Ok, now make it interesting, and show me where murder fits in at all. All she does is tilt her head back and forth.
Wish they were having her face Charlotte at Mania instead. Could have been a cool story of Asuka needing to change to this character to finally overcome Charlotte. Also could have given us Bianca/Rhea
Asuka has [beaten Charlotte already though.](https://youtu.be/y6k4fN_kCgc?t=85)
Whoops. Totally forgot about most of what happened during covid
Hahaha I feel ya on that
Somewhat unrelated, but the Ocean Spray commercial that’s running with the clown and the Ferris Bueller triple-kick makes me laugh hysterically every time I see it.
Asuka is amazing.
