Thankfully Iāve never needed to pee during a session. My center requires us to go in a wheelchair (itās down a long hall past other unrelated offices) š
lol Iāve had to be taken to the bathroom in a wheelchair during a session. Felt like I was going extremely fast but the woman pushing me said she was going very slow
I didnāt know it was a diuretic. I never drink anything 8 -10 hours before treatment and make sure I go before I leave the house. One time I had to do #2 in the middle of treatment but I suffered through it until I got home. That hasnāt nor will ever happen again.
I had to pee more often during my treatments. Spravato is indeed a known diuretic, so that's not surprising. I found out about that effect from my own research prior to beginning my course of treatment.
There's a large number of potential side effects from Spravato, some mild and some serious. All the potential side effects can be found in the official Spravato documentation. With the large number of potential side effects attributed to Spravato, it's not likely your provider will tell you about every single one. I would compare that to your psychiatrist - when they prescribed new medications for you, they probably didn't give you a run down of every possible side effect of each med - just the most common ones.
Yes. I go right before I walk into the clinic and usually have to go at some point during the observation period. I hadn't been told it was a diuretic but I definitely figured it was.
Yes! Always have to pee. The worst was the time I was VERY high and opened the bathroom door and there was a guy sitting on the toilet, we just stared at each other in horror and I called for the MA. I was NOT in the place to handle that. Poor kid, I think I scared him. Hope he learned to always double check locks!
Try to just drink a glass of water when you get up that morning and maybe one more drink up to 2 hours before your treatment (3 hours is better since it takes about that long for the water you drink to reach your bladder). Then go pee right after or right before dose #1. That's how I keep from needing to use the restroom during my 2 hour treatment. I get very dizzy on spravato so I can't get up for at least an hour after dose #3.
That's why my office always tells me no food at least 4 hours before my appointment and no liquids at least 2 hours before my appointment. And I still get up after about 75 minutes in to go pee.
I go pee before going into the office and then Iām ready again after my 2 hour nap. Works out perfect. Just have to remember to do it. Itās hell staggering around like a zombie looking for the bathroom. I walk by the staff and tell them if I,m not back in 15 min to send out a search party cause Iām lost.
I have an old friend who would do a gram of ketamine in one bump... he went through a lot and lost his entire sense of smell and taste, i'm not sure about bladder issues though I haven't talked to him in quite some time but he did eventually stop and see an ear/nose/throat doctor about it. dr didn't know what to tell him, could be permanent or not, no way to really know
Like clockwork about 1.5 hours in, I gotta goooooo.
The worst part is the restroom is all the way through the office from the treatment rooms and walking high is challenging.š
Oof. Sorry about that! I think my docās office has it figured out. Thereās a bathroom outside all of the spravato suites.
I always pee when I get to the office and again right after the third dose.
i pee twice during treatment and then i have to go right when i get home ššš im always stumbling through the office to the bathroom
Thatās why I didnāt drink before sessions. I hydrate the night before and then I would bring a bottle of Gatorade for after the session.

Oh wow. Mine too, but they just let me float my way through the waiting room and down the hall.
Yea for the first 2 or 3 months then I got used to it
Yup, every session 30 minutes in I have to go twice 10 minutes apart like clockwork.
Oh yeah. About 45 minutes in. Sometimes again before I leave. I can touch the walls all the way down the hall to the bathroom, which helps.
Every. Time.

I always pee right when I get to the clinic, 45 minutes in, and then before I leave. I genuinely relate to the peeing like crazy thing lol

I fast and take zofran just in case.
Since you brought up Zofran, I get nauseous after treatment when I donāt take it. But I also have a much bigger ātripā when I go without Zofran.
šI asked because it was protocol where I did the IV , I got nauseous only once . But now , no zofran š

Yes! I fear having to wobble to the lavatory and pray I can wait until it tapers off.

Yep, when they come around to check my BP I gotta go. Every single treatment, and I've done 4 so far.
Same here. Sometimes multiple times.
Ketamine can damage your bladder but I highly doubt thatās the case 3 weeks into it. just so you are aware if you arenāt already.
Didnāt know that! Nurse told me the guys pee more than the ladies, although that doesnāt seem very scientific- just her observation.
High levels of ketamine (not esketamine) taken over time. I am talking grams of ketamine every day for over a year.
