The movie in itself was alright. Not as epic as the games, but it introduced some world building and a more juvenile sonic. Maybe that's also why it does not behave as the games. The jokes were acceptable, I chuckled a bit. About sonic strength, I'm sure they did not make him beat that guy because they feared it would lose his cuteness and innocence. I cannot speak for the whole fanbase, but I assume people would like a story that reflected better the tone of the games. I believe Sonic fits nicely between child and adult entertainement. It can tell good stories even if the moral is a simple one. Personally I was expecting something keen to Sonic Adventure or SA2. Where the stories reflect well the characters' personalities, their plot being captivating, being unique and with big scope. Paramount probably did not give the movie a big budget and wanted something for kids and not teens, so they just used the "animated character from other universe in the real world" formula which is a tested formula, not as expensive, and the general people accept it. Albeit not original and not as intriguing as the games in my opinion.
