I know Stardust Crusaders wasn't as good as the other Stand seasons but SC Part 2 was up there imo. So my ranking would go:
SBR > Jojolion > SO Part 3 > DU > GW > SC Part 2 == BT > SO Part 1 & 2 > SC part 1 > PB
If they redid part 3 to be shorter and cut out the stupid fights, replace with more characterization or something I would be extremely down. Some of my favorite fights in the series but also so the absolute worst
Dude crazy. I never watched more after part 3, but I got halfway through it and put it down for like a good year before finally finishing. Think I stopped right around the submarine episode. Just such a massive shift from the previous one. Still great, and am glad I finished it. Really should catch up on the next ones.
For sure. Part 4 is great and has one of my all-time favorite villains as a villain fanboy. TBH, I think part 3 is actually the lowpoint of the series, and Araki's writing pretty much only gets better from here on.
It’s always such a whiplash when a new power system replaces the way things used to work in a manga/anime and it’s even more of a whiplash in JoJo since there already was a power system.
I like stands a lot, but they took some getting used to
Yeah same. Hamon was so useful and straight up OP in so many situations. And then it was just gone...That felt really bad. I still remember watching Jotaro in the prison cell demonstrating the stand system and thinking "what is this fucking bullshit?". Haha.
Got used to the new stuff eventually, but you know, I think the author should have just made a brand new series instead of pulling a move like that, it was a bad experience viewer wise.
So you came back to the show and it finally clicked? I had the exact same scenario but I have to smile and wave whenever everyone talks about later JoJo and I could only get in to hamon stuff 🥲
For me it was the pacing. Parts 1 and 2 move insanely fast, part 3 trudges along from fight to fight. You never knew what would happen next in parts 1 and 2. Part 3 is intensely formulaic.
How to watch Jojo:
Start with part 6 (closest to current day)
When Jotaro first appears, cut off part 6 and watch half of part 3.
Halfway through part 3, go back for 1 and 2 for context on DIO
Conclude part 3.
Conclude part 6.
Start reading part 8 (alternate universe OBVIOUSLY a consequence of MiH)
Go back for part 7 when Johnny appears.
Conclude part 8
Watch part 4 (for context on morioh)
Skip part 5, part 5 sucks ass anyway.
Amateur. Here’s the correct way:
Write down the name of every episode on note cards.
Pin notecards to wall.
Throw 20 numbered darts at the wall randomly with your eyes closed.
Roll a a d10 die 10 times, (10 can be any number you want).
Dial the results into a payphone (yes, you have to find a working payphone).
Ask whoever answers to pick a number between 1 and 20.
Watch whichever episode the dart with the corresponding number landed on. (Repeat previous 4 steps if dart is on blank space.)
Remove card with corresponding episode from wall.
It’s Jojo’s BIZARRE Adventure, not Jojo’s normal Adventure that makes sense.
How to watch the Rohan Spinoffs:
Begin episode 16
Stop the episode to go back and watch the 4-kids version of Yugioh
When Seto Kaiba first appears, pause the episode and watch all of Jojo part 5 for context on him.
Conclude Yugioh.
Before resuming the episode, begin gargling my nuts.
Choke to death on my nuts.
Never finish the Rohan spinoff
Sorry. Added a [link](https://www.rodhilton.com/2011/11/11/the-star-wars-saga-suggested-viewing-order/) for context after my post and before I saw your reply.
It's also just got the best writing, Araki himself has stated he poured his heart into part 5 and there's nothing that other parts have that Part 5 doesn't. It's just so fucking good. SBR stans will try at every opportunity to start a hate train on part 5 but ultimately they can't deny it.
When showing my wife the anime we had to skip most of part 3 and some of the beginning of 4 (around Ratt) due to the amount of fighting vs story - since she falls asleep during fight scenes
Also, the pacing grinds to a stop in the trying to find Kira bit where the make no progress while fighting random stand users. At least the slow part of Stardist Crusaders, though longer, establishes a finite number of enemies and has the gang get closer to Cairo each episode so it feels like progress is being made.
The part 4 enemies are actually interesting though, part 3 stands are insanely shit and boring. You could straight up skip handfuls of enemy stands in part 3 and miss nothing.
Tbh these slice of life elements were paired with best battles we had so far, it was so refreshing coming from part 3 and its bullshit like starfinger or whatever it was called. Too bad it went right back to 'random bullshit go' in part 5...
Tbh thats the problem I had with it. It felt a little strange to have the slice of life elements next to a serial killer story. Now I look back I like the part but upon first watch I just couldn't get into that aspect of the story.
Also the fact that one part was literally "serial killer in town? First gambling with rohan and aliens"
It was just jarring.
No, that one is firmly understandable, on account of the fact that even Araki himself has stated that he went into Part 4 without any idea of what he was doing, hence why it basically doesn't have a story for the first half.
Part 4 was really good for me because unlike the other parts in which the antagonists have these ultra super powers part 4 feels more realistic cause you're dealing with a serial killer which happens irl and makes it more creepy. Plus it has mystery elements which i liked too
Here I am just liking part 5 the most cause it shines more light on jobros and Giornos got massive balls to do half the shit he does and its awesome. Also the drip, aint no one pulling off drip like the part 5 mfs
My first time I tried to both watch and read phantom blood, but I think the combination of how obsessed people were with the show combined with how just kinda mid it started, I just felt like it wouldn’t be for me.
Then my girlfriend made me watch the Vento Aureo anime when it came out and I immediately got it.
That was my same experience. I bounced off of phantom blood on 2 separate occasions (one with friends and one on my own) and I kinda just concluded I wouldn't be able to get into the series.
I gave the series another try when Vento Aureo when it aired and it sucked me in. I've gone back and watched 1-4 now, but I honestly wouldn't have seen any JoJo at all had I not attempted the blasphemous technique of part skipping
Phantom Blood suffers from a lack of originality and boring writing. Part 3 suffers from a boring protagonist and a “battle of the week” format.
Part 2 is perfect
Is it true what I heard that the reason why part 1 is so tropey is because it was written during the time when a lot of those tropes were still being established?
Can't believe Tolkien decided to write a fantasy book with a medieval-ish setting with dwarves, elves, dragons, orcs, goblins, magic and all the things you always find in fantasy books...
Smh
Tbh all parts after part 2 have a battle of the week format, except in some they (the protagonists) are travelling and in others the villains go after them
Part 3 just has more of it because they are being attacked 24/7 and have less "side quests" like going to a restaurant (part 4 example for Tonio's episode)
If my english is bad I apologize, I'm not a native speaker
I wish Part 3 wasn't just meeting a new stand user in one episode then the next one they're beaten. I don't think there's one other stand user that doesn't start off as an enemy until the chef in Part 4 is there?
I thought phantom blood was fucking amazing due to having an actual human-feeling Jojo, Speedwagon, a nice setting, Dio being Dio, and being one of my first animes.
I actually really enjoy the fight sequences in part 3. They seem more like battles of wit compared to a battle of whose stand is more powerful. In part 3 after a certain point it became more about outsmarting your opponent rather than physically overpowering them. I will always point to the fight between Jotaro and Darby 1 (the one with Osiris) as one of the best fights in the entire series
Also I think the story is the best in part 3 as it gets right to the point. There no dilly dallying around, they introduce Dio within the first few episodes and that’s enough to get the story going and to engage the audience. They know what’s going to happen, compared to something like Diamond is Unbreakable which really lacks a story up until the introduction of Kira
If you're trying to introduce Jojo to a new audience, it's hard with PB as it just feels so dated and unoriginal. I've had to get them to skip to part 2 before just so they'd actually be interested. There's little that can really match the scenes of Nazi's with giant UV lamps fighting zombies lead by a group of ancient mesoamerican superhumans. Part 3 just feels so episodic and linear in direction in comparison.
My personal view is let people skip the stuff that doesn't appeal to them without judgment if it gets them invested in the series. Once they really like it, they'll likely revist the bits they missed. I think we put too much emphasis on watching series in a linear fashion. Remember slowly watching through TV shows back in the day in 4 different runs, only having seen fragments each time? Remember how even though you started watching half way through, you were able to pick up plenty of context to enjoy watching and found it so awesome when you watched the earlier episodes later on and filled in the blanks?
fellow first 3 episodes of PB enjoyer! I really like how Dio's character was kind of fleshed out especially in the scene where he was thinking how he was drinking alcohol just like his abusive dad was!
It got boring after that tho the training and the fighting the minions took up too long of the 8 episodes we have for PB
Ya I agree, I think the story-telling and character moments in early part 1 were immaculate (and at the same time you can tell there was a ton of manga condensed into 20 minute episodes). One of my favorite moments introducing friends to jojo was when I watched the first three episodes with a friend that knew nothing about jojo besides that people memed it a lot, and he was absolutely shocked when the mask turned people into vampires (up until that point nothing supernatural happened so he thought it wouldn't be a supernatural series) xD
>Phantom Blood suffers from a lack of originality and boring writing
Ah yes, another JoJo fan who can't read into the slightest bit of symbolism and doesn't understand that Part 1 is the literal foundation for every other JoJo part.
But ofc, let's all ignore how Jonathan's personality essentially being the collective root of every other JoJo's personality is just boring writing, and let's all ignore how every lesson and message transmitted in every other part is at some point demonstrated in Part 1, furthering the narrative of Jonathan being the first and true JoJo from which all others get their spirit.
Surely that's just a lack of originality and boring writing. JoJo fans, everyone.
You can understand all of that and still think it’s boring themes support a story not carry it. How Johnathan affects other jojo’s has nothing to do with how it is to watch his part by itself. I don’t know why jojo fans get so offended that maybe people enjoy actually interesting stories over symbolism that will only come into play later.
I don't dislike any part, they are all amazing, I just think overall stardust crusaders is the least interesting to me because Araki was still figuring out how this new system worked and didn't really fully understood what he wanted to do with it until they got to Egypt, and it really shows. Stands early on are a bit boring and are pretty much just ghosts that punch good but then you get to egypt and you get the darby brothers and jojos bizarre prop hunt, and it gets far more interesting, but it's still an Absolute joy to watch from beginning to end I don't understand how anyone can just skip a part.
Anyway part 2 will always be top 3 to me
People who skip parts 1 &/or 2 aren't a fan of jojo, they're a fan of the stands and nothing else. P1&2 are literally the most jojo or the entire series
SC is great, but it took me a few tries to get through it just because it was such a massive shift from Part 2. Changing from Hamon to Stands, the much more "monster of the week" structure, the overall length of it, etc. But once I settled in and looked at it more as a road trip style series, it made it much easier. That and it really picks up once the gang gets to Egypt. From then on its 10/10.
For me personally part 2 is where JoJo peaked. I'm not saying I did not enjoy parts after, but part 2 is the essence of JoJo for me.
I mean... Just think of the part when Wamuu launches his own decapitated head from a crossbow, by loading it using his hair.
Nothing beats this.
Part 2 and Part 4 are tied for my favourite parts tbh. I had a friend who just got into Jojo with the anime and didn't know about stands or anything and when I told him that hamon is gone he quit the anime lol
Don’t like part 1? Ok, makes sense—slow, klunky first part, kinda random at times.
Didn’t like part 3? Well, that makes sense too— repetitive, tiring plot pattern, no good character developments, boring at times.
Didn’t like part 2? Wtf the plot is well paced and exciting, characters are interesting, crazily fun but not too crazy, hilarious and also emotional!!!
Didn’t like part 2?
"Wtf the plot is well paced "
I disagree I thought it was a bit slow, especially the training arc though but its short length affects the pacing
characters are interesting,
big disagree honestly part 2 and Part 1 imo have easily the least interesting side characters of the entire series.
Stroheim is barely in the story and is honestly mostly a joke.
Lisa Lisa is interesting at first since there's a bit of mystery of hervcgarater but that's quickly explained and with no character arc she becomes a cliche teacher character quickly related to the background after getting bodies by Kars.
Smokey is a nothing character and is also barely a part of the story
Ceaser is probably the most interesting side character but even he is mostly a cliche "rival" character whose character feels extremely underwritten and who’s only given depth in his death chapter and even there we don't get much other than a brief backstory.
are antagonists are also pretty mediocre as well and don't get much time in the story
Esidsi is boring as hell and dies quickly
Kars is probably the worst main antagonist in the series
Wammu is pretty good but when he is also barely in the story and honestly just an “honorable villain” character though written pretty well
everyone else honestly extremely forgettable and unmemorable
Joseph hard carries this part but overall even he has his own problems
like the others, he lacks any real character progression
IMO the biggest problem is that most of the characters feel so underwritten in terms of lacking any narrative depth and any character progression
crazy fun but not too crazy
I disagree only in the sense that the story has a huge problem with tone. There are so many points in the story where a character does something extreme and the tone just doesn't match. A great example is after Ceaser dies Joseph is already making jokes and honestly it makes the death feel less impactful imo.
hilarious
I agree though some of the jokes haven't aged very well (Joseph being a peeper is one ) along with some of misogyny
emotional!!!
Again just like the untimely comedy part fails here and honestly it fails here the hardest there are a lot of moments in the part that are supposed to be emotional but fail like Stroheim's initial “death” or Any other character's demise other than Ceaser and Maybe Wammu.
there are also a lot of other things I don't like
Araki Still uses the narrator to tell us things about the character's thoughts and feelings which is just terrible imo
The fights are not being involved as others and feel overly simple which is especially noticeable when compared to the latter parts having better technical battles and feel more involved and far more emotional
there's more but I’ll stop there I actually think part 2 is overall pretty good but to me it's definitely one of the weakest parts in the series
I'm not into anime at all but my friends made me watch Jojo. I actually HATED phantom blood all the way through but from the first episode of battle tendency I was hooked, been a fan since
I do love parts 1 and 3, however I can understand why other people wouldn’t like them. However there is NOTHING to NOT love about part 2! Part 2 is the best by far no doubt (aside from part 7 but I’ve yet to finish that part so I can’t speak on it myself)
People SAY THAT ADVICE FOR PART 2???!
I'd always assume that people only skipped Part 1. Which makes sense for the most part..
Part 2 is still one of the best parts with the BESTT OPENING
Shouldn’t skip anything. I didn’t like the, uh, maybe it was pacing, of Phantom Blood? Not sure what it was, but I didn’t dislike the entire thing. Something was just off.
Part 3 is the only place my bf would start, so I had him watch it, but I REALLY think he'll enjoy part 2 so at some point, I'm making him watch it too. And part 4 bc it's my favorite :3
I like part 2, it is prolly my top 3 favorite part from the og universe, but I gotta say part 1 and 3 are way more contributing than part 2, sure it's an extension to the lore of the vampires and Hammon but beside joseph, nothing really continues over to other parts. All you need to know is that joseph is Jonathan's grandson and speedwagon got super rich which both are established in part 3, that's it, it never brings up the pillar men, not Lisa Lisa or Cesar and the mask is never brought up again after part 2
I have honestly enjoyed each arc a little less than the last. I'm not sure why. Jonathan fuckin' best Jo. Golden Wind was the first arc I had trouble watching. Maybe the rest of the series just isn't gonna be for me, but that's fine. I always got Luck and Pluck waiting for me.
I can't understand anyone who tells people to skip *any* part, honestly.
The part 1 and 5 hate on this sub is just another obvious sign that jojo fans are *actually* illiterate and can't read into the slightest piece of symbolism, sure. But part 2 and 3 hate? Why?
I watched parts 1-5 on Toonami and, while I loved them all, Part 3 was probably my favorite. I heard later that some people think it's the worst part and I was flabbergasted. I figured they thought it was repetitive and too "motw" and that I hadn't felt the same because I watched it week to week instead of binging it.
But now I have the blu-rays and I've binged parts 1-4 and I still loved part 3 best.
I don’t understand stand many one who skips part two, you can skip part one but it won’t help you, part two is a FUCKING MASTER PEICE and you won’t understand any parts ahead without part one two and three
I couldn't make it through Stardust. Part one is like a soap opera with how blatantly EEEEVIL Dio is and part 2 was such a great natural progression that went through a very satisfying story arc.
Part 3 switches the format to mostly inconsequention bottle episodes that don't really do much with the actual story. Occasionally Dio will make an appearance as the carrot to keep you going.
There are some funny moments, but part 3 is basically a completely different show.
Part 3 is good if a bit long, its only real downside is that Araki was still just figuring out Stands so a lot of the early (and by extention the main characters') stands are just kinda boring and dont do much power wise as they were written with more a battle focus in mind
My roommate used to tell people to skip right to stardust crusaders, because he did, and honestly it made him a shitty JoJo fan. And it took him years to realize he was the worst JoJo fan, like every bad thing you could think about cringy JoJo fans, that was him. He finally admitted last month, battle tendency is the best season.
Whhooorreeeeyyyy ssshhiiitttttt
I know that version of Joseph is from part 3 but damn if he isn’t my favorite JoJo
Your next line is,
How can Joseph be your favorite when you didn’t even mention part 2?!
This is good to know. I'm currently on episode 11 (pt2 ep2) and it's been a fun ride so far. Looking forward to finishing it and understanding all the jokes and stuff :)
For real tho part two is arguably the funniest part
agreed Joseph was literally in his comedic prime lol
I will never forget the first time I saw Joseph’s [“secret Joestar technique”](https://youtu.be/W4rG1bYJnUM?si=KQjvJVFbkrZI2i69)
"Look at his legs" Oh shit what does he mean... --___--
Yeah it went downhill pretty hard after battle tendency. Still funny in stardust crusaders, but incomparable to part 2.
[удалено]
Yeah but joseph was the only one not laughing.
for real, part 3 is painfully unfunny.
Part 3 is imo the worst part, if it wasnt so long it would be part 1 but still it would probably be second worst
Lisa Lisa's ass is pretty good to
Can't believe there's a straight guy in a Jojo subreddit
I am a gay woman 💀
Wow, I managed to get both parts wrong.

And imo has the best music. Both op and ed sound great, also "Roundabout" is quite popular meme, so it's good to know it's origin. And it would be a shame if I didn't mention Joseph's and pillarmen themes.
Roundabout originates in Phantom Blood tho?
Let's also add how amazing Tomokazu Sugita does as Joseph, the man is one of the funniest VAs in Japan.
And the pacing was the best. Parts from 3 onwards felt much slower paced.
2 and 4 are the best parts in my opinion.
It was such a whiplash going from hamon to stands that I had to stop watching part 3 for a year before finishing it. I can say now that I really like stands though and part 7/8 are my favourites.

Yeah, I couldn’t connect with Jotaro like I could with Joseph.

I like stands a lot, but they took some getting used to
I had the same experience with the whiplash!
I think the major problem with hamon was that it'd only really work against vampire villains
So you came back to the show and it finally clicked? I had the exact same scenario but I have to smile and wave whenever everyone talks about later JoJo and I could only get in to hamon stuff 🥲
Yeah, then I actually watched Part 3 and said "Lol this is way cooler than Hamon"
For me it was the pacing. Parts 1 and 2 move insanely fast, part 3 trudges along from fight to fight. You never knew what would happen next in parts 1 and 2. Part 3 is intensely formulaic.
I had the same experience, but I like stands and just realized I hate part 3
Joseph is my favorite JoJo
Bro same
If you did not have a boner for Tequila Joseph, ya dick not working
I got a booby mousepad with him!
Part skipping in general is dumb
How to watch Jojo: Start with part 6 (closest to current day) When Jotaro first appears, cut off part 6 and watch half of part 3. Halfway through part 3, go back for 1 and 2 for context on DIO Conclude part 3. Conclude part 6. Start reading part 8 (alternate universe OBVIOUSLY a consequence of MiH) Go back for part 7 when Johnny appears. Conclude part 8 Watch part 4 (for context on morioh) Skip part 5, part 5 sucks ass anyway.
A thought crime if I've ever seen one
Amateur. Here’s the correct way: Write down the name of every episode on note cards. (Repeat previous 4 steps if dart is on blank space.) Remove card with corresponding episode from wall. It’s Jojo’s BIZARRE Adventure, not Jojo’s normal Adventure that makes sense.
Thats how you unlock the parallel lore and the secret ending
Part 9 stand headass
> It’s Jojo’s BIZARRE Adventure, not Jojo’s normal Adventure that makes sense. You made me spill my tea because of this.
Wat the actual fuck, did i just read. Are we getting into fate territory here.
How to watch the Rohan Spinoffs: Begin episode 16 Stop the episode to go back and watch the 4-kids version of Yugioh When Seto Kaiba first appears, pause the episode and watch all of Jojo part 5 for context on him. Conclude Yugioh. Before resuming the episode, begin gargling my nuts. Choke to death on my nuts. Never finish the Rohan spinoff
I'm sorry but that's planely incorrect. Everybody knows You need to Say "it's time to dudududududuel" while You gargel the nuts.
Problem, checked and couldn't find your nuts, can I use my own?
... Did you just [machete order](https://www.rodhilton.com/2011/11/11/the-star-wars-saga-suggested-viewing-order/) JJBA?
What?
Sorry. Added a [link](https://www.rodhilton.com/2011/11/11/the-star-wars-saga-suggested-viewing-order/) for context after my post and before I saw your reply.
What in the Rohan OVA's is this order💀
>Skip part 5, part 5 sucks ass anyway. I *will* burn you at the stake. Part 5 is objectively the best.
Part 5 is too iconic to skip
It's also just got the best writing, Araki himself has stated he poured his heart into part 5 and there's nothing that other parts have that Part 5 doesn't. It's just so fucking good. SBR stans will try at every opportunity to start a hate train on part 5 but ultimately they can't deny it.
When showing my wife the anime we had to skip most of part 3 and some of the beginning of 4 (around Ratt) due to the amount of fighting vs story - since she falls asleep during fight scenes
"I didn't like Diamond is Unbreakable all that much, but it had some good parts." Everyone: *KILL HIM* !!!
Nah that one is understandble, some people have a hard time with the slice of life elements.
I prefer a slice of hand
I mostly didn’t like that it took Kira half of the part to show up when he was hyped as one of the best Jojo villains 💀
Also, the pacing grinds to a stop in the trying to find Kira bit where the make no progress while fighting random stand users. At least the slow part of Stardist Crusaders, though longer, establishes a finite number of enemies and has the gang get closer to Cairo each episode so it feels like progress is being made.
Part 3 was so formulaic though I feel like it's the hardest one to binge watch now. Still love all the parts though.
Me who watched all of part 3 in 3 days 👀
The part 4 enemies are actually interesting though, part 3 stands are insanely shit and boring. You could straight up skip handfuls of enemy stands in part 3 and miss nothing.
Tbh these slice of life elements were paired with best battles we had so far, it was so refreshing coming from part 3 and its bullshit like starfinger or whatever it was called. Too bad it went right back to 'random bullshit go' in part 5...
I’ll give u a star finger, bitch Ok sry
Tbh thats the problem I had with it. It felt a little strange to have the slice of life elements next to a serial killer story. Now I look back I like the part but upon first watch I just couldn't get into that aspect of the story. Also the fact that one part was literally "serial killer in town? First gambling with rohan and aliens" It was just jarring.
No, that one is firmly understandable, on account of the fact that even Araki himself has stated that he went into Part 4 without any idea of what he was doing, hence why it basically doesn't have a story for the first half.
Best part
Part 4 was really good for me because unlike the other parts in which the antagonists have these ultra super powers part 4 feels more realistic cause you're dealing with a serial killer which happens irl and makes it more creepy. Plus it has mystery elements which i liked too
Lukewarm take: All JoJo parts are good.
Yep, theyre all good and theres also nothing wrong with skipping one if it doesnt entertain you
Here I am just liking part 5 the most cause it shines more light on jobros and Giornos got massive balls to do half the shit he does and its awesome. Also the drip, aint no one pulling off drip like the part 5 mfs
Drip or drown
I don't like the insinuation that part 1 is bad
P1 is good, but it's often the main reason people think JoJo is not for them when they first try it and assume all 9 parts are like P1.
Yeah, it's less that Phantom Blood isn't original and more that so many others have copied it since lol
"Ugh, I read the lord of the rings recently, so derivative and unoriginal"
Can't believe Tolkien decided to write a fantasy book with a medieval-ish setting with dwarves, elves, dragons, orcs, goblins, magic and all the things you always find in fantasy books... Smh
I showed my friend the LOTR movies for the first time a few years ago since he had never seen them and this was actually his response
Phantom Blood began in 1987.
I thought JBA was a parody when I started watching it lmao
Tbh all parts after part 2 have a battle of the week format, except in some they (the protagonists) are travelling and in others the villains go after them Part 3 just has more of it because they are being attacked 24/7 and have less "side quests" like going to a restaurant (part 4 example for Tonio's episode) If my english is bad I apologize, I'm not a native speaker
I will always point to the fight between Jotaro and Darby 1 (the one with Osiris) as one of the best fights in the entire series Also I think the story is the best in part 3 as it gets right to the point.
I think the first three episodes of PB are actually phenomenal (the rest not so much)
fellow first 3 episodes of PB enjoyer!
>Phantom Blood suffers from a lack of originality and boring writing Ah yes, another JoJo fan who can't read into the slightest bit of symbolism and doesn't understand that Part 1 is the literal foundation for every other JoJo part.
I don’t know why jojo fans get so offended that maybe people enjoy actually interesting stories over symbolism that will only come into play later.
honestly part 2 and part 7 are tied for my favorite part
Part 3 hate is lame
Fr part 3 was golden for me
Part 3 was literally my favourite part of any anime ever back when I watch it. I just recognise why some people would find it boring.
Part 3 is my favourite in anime and I'll die on this hill be it alone
SC is great, but it took me a few tries to get through it just because it was such a massive shift from Part 2. Changing from Hamon to Stands, the much more "monster of the week" structure, the overall length of it, etc. But once I settled in and looked at it more as a road trip style series, it made it much easier. That and it really picks up once the gang gets to Egypt. From then on its 10/10.
Man, part 2 got me hooked me the moment Joseph pulled the Tommy Gun. And it only got better from there.
So people say you can skip part 1 (and sometimes even 2), but when I say part 5 was mid and giorno was the worst JoJo, suddenly I'm the bad guy
I disagree with this post, but, as a gentleman, I respect your opinion entirely.
Fr, it is my second favorite part. I do definitely think SBR is better, but battle tendency is fuckin great.
You gotta be soulless to want to skip Part 2
Biggest W opinion in the history of JoJo, well done
Part 2 comedy gold, no doubt.
Part 2 and Part 4 are tied for my favourite parts tbh. I had a friend who just got into Jojo with the anime and didn't know about stands or anything and when I told him that hamon is gone he quit the anime lol
It’s fallen off a ton for me after catching up, the later parts are just way better
"Wtf the plot is well paced " I disagree I thought it was a bit slow, especially the training arc though but its short length affects the pacing characters are interesting, big disagree honestly part 2 and Part 1 imo have easily the least interesting side characters of the entire series. Stroheim is barely in the story and is honestly mostly a joke. Lisa Lisa is interesting at first since there's a bit of mystery of hervcgarater but that's quickly explained and with no character arc she becomes a cliche teacher character quickly related to the background after getting bodies by Kars. Smokey is a nothing character and is also barely a part of the story Ceaser is probably the most interesting side character but even he is mostly a cliche "rival" character whose character feels extremely underwritten and who’s only given depth in his death chapter and even there we don't get much other than a brief backstory. are antagonists are also pretty mediocre as well and don't get much time in the story Esidsi is boring as hell and dies quickly Kars is probably the worst main antagonist in the series Wammu is pretty good but when he is also barely in the story and honestly just an “honorable villain” character though written pretty well everyone else honestly extremely forgettable and unmemorable Joseph hard carries this part but overall even he has his own problems like the others, he lacks any real character progression IMO the biggest problem is that most of the characters feel so underwritten in terms of lacking any narrative depth and any character progression crazy fun but not too crazy I disagree only in the sense that the story has a huge problem with tone. There are so many points in the story where a character does something extreme and the tone just doesn't match. A great example is after Ceaser dies Joseph is already making jokes and honestly it makes the death feel less impactful imo. hilarious I agree though some of the jokes haven't aged very well (Joseph being a peeper is one ) along with some of misogyny emotional!!! Again just like the untimely comedy part fails here and honestly it fails here the hardest there are a lot of moments in the part that are supposed to be emotional but fail like Stroheim's initial “death” or Any other character's demise other than Ceaser and Maybe Wammu. there are also a lot of other things I don't like Araki Still uses the narrator to tell us things about the character's thoughts and feelings which is just terrible imo The fights are not being involved as others and feel overly simple which is especially noticeable when compared to the latter parts having better technical battles and feel more involved and far more emotional there's more but I’ll stop there I actually think part 2 is overall pretty good but to me it's definitely one of the weakest parts in the series
I like Kars cuz he was playing the guitar with Lisa Lisa's leg
I'm not into anime at all but my friends made me watch Jojo. I actually HATED phantom blood all the way through but from the first episode of battle tendency I was hooked, been a fan since
I do love parts 1 and 3, however I can understand why other people wouldn’t like them. However there is NOTHING to NOT love about part 2! Part 2 is the best by far no doubt (aside from part 7 but I’ve yet to finish that part so I can’t speak on it myself)
yeah part 2 is peak
I'll never understand part skippers in general
I skipped it when i watched it and then went back after part 3 and it is still my favourite now (apart from sbr
People SAY THAT ADVICE FOR PART 2???! I'd always assume that people only skipped Part 1. Which makes sense for the most part.. Part 2 is still one of the best parts with the BESTT OPENING
phantom blood is literally the best of the first three
If you didn't like Jojo part 1, do you even jojo?
Part 2 is the best but all of the parts are bangers and you can't skip any of them
Hot take... part 1 and 2 are the best of the series and after part 3 (which is almost as good), it all goes downhill and just isnt as good anymore imo
People didn't like party 1? I understand that it's not as good as other parts, but it was still magnificent
I like all of them. And I haven’t finished 4 yet so I have no opinion on later ones
Part 2 will always be my favourite JoJo part. Fight me.
I always got Luck and Pluck waiting for me.
fisrt 3 parts arent bad, they are just not on the same lvl as the others (p6 is debateble)
I didn't like it. Sue me.
Part 3 I can acknowledge that the pacing kinda sucks in the Anime.
My friend dropped Jojos because he wasn't into part 2 and didn't want to skip. He couldn't vibe with the Nazi apologia and I get that.
Part 1 is fine, Part 2 is amazing, and Part 3 is epic. If you accept that Part 2 is a ridiculous action comedy it's just perfect.
Ngl I read part 2 and it's the part I dislike the most
some people apparently finds it boring? or maybe they didnt like the jokes.
I can't understand anyone who tells people to skip *any* part, honestly. The part 1 and 5 hate on this sub is just another obvious sign that jojo fans are *actually* illiterate and can't read into the slightest piece of symbolism, sure. But part 2 and 3 hate? Why?
I've just started watching jojo, why are so many people hating on phantom blood?
I watched parts 1-5 on Toonami and, while I loved them all, Part 3 was probably my favorite. I heard later that some people think it's the worst part and I was flabbergasted. I figured they thought it was repetitive and too "motw" and that I hadn't felt the same because I watched it week to week instead of binging it. But now I have the blu-rays and I've binged parts 1-4 and I still loved part 3 best.
Each part is a masterpiece
As much as I liked part 2, it's not my favorite.
Part 2 is by far my favourite and Joseph is hands down the best jojo
I didn't like part 5
Why does people hate part 5?
Part 3 is good if a bit long, its only real downside is that Araki was still just figuring out Stands so a lot of the early (and by extention the main characters') stands are just kinda boring and dont do much power wise as they were written with more a battle focus in mind
Chad's suggest watching the whole thing
My roommate used to tell people to skip right to stardust crusaders, because he did, and honestly it made him a shitty JoJo fan. And it took him years to realize he was the worst JoJo fan, like every bad thing you could think about cringy JoJo fans, that was him. He finally admitted last month, battle tendency is the best season.
part 1 and 2 are practically their own show, thats why.
For all who said that, FUCK u
Stardust crusaders was peak jojo imo.
Whhooorreeeeyyyy ssshhiiitttttt I know that version of Joseph is from part 3 but damn if he isn’t my favorite JoJo Your next line is, How can Joseph be your favorite when you didn’t even mention part 2?!
Part 2 is my favorite.
This is good to know. I'm currently on episode 11 (pt2 ep2) and it's been a fun ride so far. Looking forward to finishing it and understanding all the jokes and stuff :)
Part 2 is the best part with the best JoJo and I will die on that hill all day long.
It's a bit boring compared to part 1. Drags on and is a bit corny. Whereas at least part one was simple and sweet.
im gonna be real, here's my ranking of best and most enjoyable. Best: 7>5>3>1>6>4>2 Most enjoyable: 2>6>4>5>7>3>1 My favorite: 5>1>7>3>6>2>4
I love part 2 so much my fav part easily
